This is a great video but, I have a word of warning to those in the UK buying a Ronin S Essentials Kit for use with a Panasonic Lumix GH-5 . You will need to buy an additional DJI Ronin-S Type C USB Cable and at the time of writing (Feb 2020), they seem to be as rare as hens teeth. Unless, that is, you are prepared to purchase directly from DJI, pay the exorbitant postage charge and wait 10 - 15 days for the privilege

Nice run through on dji connecting, ...as of 9 July 2019 we should all be running V2.5 on the GH5 , the dating format on the Panny page is slightly confusing as it reads 2019/7/9. but for us Brits it is the same as 9/7/2019 . D M Y

DJI have fixed the shutter button in the latest ronin s firmware.
Half press to focus, but if you do a full press it just starts recording and doesn’t alter focus.
You can also half press while recording for C-AF or S-AF
Yep Iv been tied up so not been able to do a video on this yet, also a few other things changed and an bonus too ;)
I'm having an issue and am trying to see if others have experienced it. Even when I have the GH5 set to MF mode, half-pressing the shutter button on the Ronin S activates autofocus?? I want to be able to tough the shutter button without changing my preset focus. Is this the issue the DJi solved with the firmware update? Thanks!
Sam Zucker yes that’s what it does. When you tether with the USB it automatically sets shutter half press AF to ON, so even in MF the half press will activate S-AF.
The thing DJI fixed with the latest firmware was that a full press of the Ronin shutter now starts recording without activating S-AF, before a full press was also activating AF.
Now it works with half press to AF, completing press starts recording, alternatively a full press starts recording without AF, this is the usual tether behaviour

Tried all these and still can’t connect.
Set the usb mode to ‘choose on connection’ but no prompts when plugged into the ronin.
I assume its an issue with the ronin, which is unfortunate as it’s been sat for two years unused.

I have trouble to connect my Galaxy Note 4 as a fieldmonitor (Wireless) to the Panasonic app while using linear focus on my ronin s. It does not seem to be possible. There is only a blinking red light on the focus wheel. Are there any experiences to use an Android field recorder AND linear focus?

I followed all the steps but unfortunately my Ronin SC and GH5 are still not following the focus that I tap on the App (Active Focus 3.0).
Could it be that it is not compatible with all lenses?

Hi - Ronin RSC2 with the GH5... for some reason I cannot control the focus or Iris with the Ronin dial, however I can control the ISO and also the roll. Using an Olympus 12-40 lens. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated... thinking it might be a setting in the camera? Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Cheers G
Have you got it set to PC tether mode ?
The problem I'm having is that my gh5 Focus works fine with the USB C cable plugged in but when I plug external monitor HDMI cable in to the Monitor and the gh5 at the same time with the USB C plugged in the gh5 viewing monitor built on the camera goes black no signal to it no picture
This is a big issue for me. I often send a clean HDMI signal to my external monitor/recorder and rely on the GH5 screen for critical camera info (shutter speed, aperture, etc.). We can't do this when the GH5 is tethered to the Ronin S. This greatly limits the functionality of the Ronin S with the GH5 if I want to use the focus wheel and record button. Suffice to say I am disappointed and hope DJI can resolve this.

Even after the latest update (I'm posting in September 2018) I still have a judder when quickly panning right then left. Anyone else with this issue?
How do you use the focus wheel while recording????
Its down to your camera type as its all dependant on what your model supports, you need to be in MF on the GH5
