Lisa, here I am again bc my screen froze with 1010 error message and I needed your help once again to get my 780 sewing. The error 1010 message is scary but then I remembered that you helped me before with the same problem.
Tyf your video. I also cleaned my 780 with your guidance. May God bless you always.

That means your hook has a problem. Unthread top and bottom. Remove the hook. Check for threads in the hook area. Make sure your flywheel rotated freely. If not, gently rock your flywheel back and forth till it does rotate freely. Oil snd put hook back in. Then rethread to and bottom. (If you cannot get your flywheel to rotate, then you have a BIG jam and will need service.)

You have just restored my faith in "everything" sewing. I’ve owned my Bernina 570 QE for 5 years and I cannot tell you the trouble I’ve had right from the get go threading this machine successfully, I went back to the shop several times and the lass would thread it several times and it was fine, I’d change the colour of the cotton at home and bang I couldn’t get it to work, which means I can only sew around 10 stitches before the machine stops so I clear it and sew another 10 stitches and so on. I’ve pieced quilts and sewn garments limping along like this!
My daughter and I pulled off the front cover and because she had had some success on more occasions than I did we delved deeper looking for why. We threaded it and saw the little spring/coil thingy and knew it was a sensor issue - I wish the lass in the shop had said there was a sensor, after several visits she gave up on me and said some machines are more sensitive than others and mine was one of them. NOW thanks to you I know HOW to get the thread through the sensor, I love everything else about my Bernina except for this threading issue, so when I say thank you, please imagine me bowing at you feet with gratitude. Thank you, I love your direct commonsense approach to fixing problems this home sewist had.

Thank you so much for this video. My machine would keep stopping ever 15th stitch. I cleaned it, oiled it vacuumed it and it still kept happening. I have a Artista 640 machine so not new like yours but it worked following your directions. It was the top thread! I didn't put as much tension on it while threading it evidently. I threaded it again the way you said using more tension in my right hand and now it works great! So appreciate your help.

Lisa, I find your videos super helpful. You're an excellent instructor, and know the right things to say to make people learning their machine understand how are machine works, how to navigate through the buttons, and the reason why you have to do certain things in a sequence. Your videos are filmed nice and clear, with close up views, especially this one. I have a new Bernina 590, attended the guide classes, but still learning. Thanks for all your tips! I've subscribed to your channel and am now going through the Bernina mastery videos.

Thank you, thank you!! My B570QE had a major problem last evening. It would sew. I had a hunch there was thread down deep near the bobbin but I couldn't figure out how to get there. I didn't realize I could remove the "holder" around the bobbin case - sure enough, there was a huge wad of thread, wound tightly into a little ball. Once I removed that, put it back together, re-threaded the machine (for good measure!), it works perfectly!!!

(BTW-our tech does not charge if the problem reoccurs within 90 days of service!). Is it possible that the NEEDLE bar is out of alignment? Have you hit anything with a needle before all this started?

Thank you for your video. Very good. I wanted to know about the dreaded 1010 error message. I did everything you mentioned. No luck. So frustrated because the fly wheel would work when everything was out oof the machine (bobbin, bobbin holder, race). The race seemed to be magnetically set into machine fine, but once in, the flywheel wouldn’t turn. In a last ditch effort, when everything was out again, I turned the flywheel 180 degrees so that the pins that the race fits into were now completely turned around. Voila!!!! Everything is working perfectly. I think you talked about this, but I was totally focused on those pins being at 10 and 4 O’clock and not the other things you were saying about setting in the race. Thanks again. No need to take my machine in for servicing.

    • @QuiltingInTheValley
      @QuiltingInTheValley  2 года назад +1

I have an 880 and a 790. There aren’t so many issues with the 880, really. It’s a machine that is VERY particular about how you operate it. It will not cooperate if you don’t do what it wants all the time. The 790 is much more lax…you can be more imprecise with it and it still does what it does. Both do beautiful work. I roll say that I prefer the 790, just because I don’t have to be so careful all the time!

@@QuiltingInTheValley I was confirmed this morning by this dealer than Berninas 7 series are very good machines ; so now the question is : 770 QE+ or 790+ ? ;) :D I can't find really what motives the difference of price between both... transversal sewing ? I have to think seriously about it ;) ! thank you for your help

Ty..easy perezie ..your so helpful..calm...keep up your videos...my new Bernina 790 plus (bought October 2020 no class till Dec.5th due to Covid-19).first off. I do know how to correctly thread my machine lol...after it has been embroidering/or sewing For awhile..the thread becomes snagged between the plastic cover and the first thread guide...numerous times..it catches and causes a thread error and stops..sometimes it’s so jammed in between the plastic frames and first thread guide I have to pull very hard to get the thread out. Very frustrating...I have quit sewing on it. Or use a free standing thread guide to correct the problem..then that eventually dose the same problem..help? When you pay $10 thousand dollars for a machine...you are upset..for this type of problem in 2 month I’ve owned this machine..been going on for weeks now..I bought it 150 miles from where I live..Ann Arbor Michigan quilting shop wants me to come in with it..guess that what I’ll have to do..anybody else. Have. This problem?,??

I have never had that problem....and the 790 is my machine for 4 years now. You may have a burr or a snag somewhere that they can fix for you!

I have a 770QE and continue to have trouble with my cutter, and top thread fraying and breaking! Thanks!

What type of thread/needle combo are you using? You MUST have a needle that is large enough for your thread! 80/12 needles for 50 and 40 weight thread. Sometimes a 90/14 for 40 weight. Are you using a needle designed for the type of stitch you are doing? (Microtex for piecing and straight stitching, embroidery needle for embroidery, quilting needle for free motion, etc). Most thread break issues are caused by improper thread/needle combos.
When is the last time you had it serviced? You may have a burr or a lint knot in the works somewhere if you have exhausted all thread/needle combos.
What, specifically, is your cutter having problems with? You know to clean it regularly following directions on screen?

The loose screw on the feet is for tightening the quilt guide bar when in use.

Yup! And that’s why we take it off when not using that....it prevents the random ‘oh my gosh, a screw fell out of my machine’ panic moment:-)
