    Lisa, tyf this very informative video. Your a great tutorial teacher. I didn't know how important oiling your Bernina was. I was never told anything so I'm very happy I clicked on your video for the basics.
    Oh, I remember how alarmed I got when my bobbin winder was going off. I had to figure that on my own. Trial by fire 🔥 God bless you!

    You are an amazing teacher! I just picked up my 570 QE on Monday but haven't taken it out of the box yet - partly because I don't feel confident that I'd know how to get started (sewed with a Brother for the previous 18 years). You have given me the confidence to take that baby out of the box and start playing with it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    I can’t thank you enough!! I learned so much! You articulated everything I now have confidence to get my new 770 baby out and play. It has been in the box since March of this year. It seemed easy when the lady at the sewing store was right next to me but to sit alone scares me. I have many machines for a small business but this was my first Bernina. A gift for me not just another work machine. Looking forward to more of your videos 💗 thank you again! Someone else wrote you should be a spokes person for Bernina😃

    Thanks for this instructive video. I bought a 570QE last summer and sewed on it for a few months. But the bobbin was so difficult and I got so sick of dealing with it that I put it away and got out my 40-year-old Bernina 930 and continued sewing on that. After watching this video, I am going to give the 570 another try.

I have a new B535 as of a few days ago and have my first one-on-one lesson tomorrow. I'm so glad I found your website and subscribed. My old Bernina was 27 years old, which I bought new, still going strong, but I was READY for an upgrade. I'm going to watch your other videos after this one. Your video was terrific. Love my Berninas BUT REPOSITIONING THE RACE WAS TERRIBLE FOR ME. HERES A SOLUTION.
    The worst part after cleaning and oiling was to get the race into position. Lay the RACE FACE DOWN over the black ring, lining up the two cut outs as you described at the positions ten o’clock and four o’clock. Then just LIFT THE BLACK RING UP so the race catches the magnet (the little round circle) until it clicks. If it doesn’t click, turn wheel very slightly until it clicks in place. Then just Snap the side piece to lock in place. No longer will you need to tilt the machine to position the race in the little tight hole; or fumble with big fingers in that little space. I struggled with this until someone shared this idea with me.

    Do you use the foam pad and cap on the vertical pin just like you do for the horizontal pin? From the vertical pin for threading to sew and bobbin winding do you go straight to the first guide hook on the back the same as for the horizontal pin or do you go through the “paper clip” looking hook in front of the vertical pin before going to the first guide hook? Thank you for the wonderful video! It is so helpful.

    • @QuiltingInTheValley
      @QuiltingInTheValley  3 года назад

      Yes on the foam pad.....no on the ‘paper clip’ first. That is for when you have the horizontal thread holder loaded and threaded already....you would not double thread through the back when you are bobbin winding. Or for when you are using a supplemental thread stand.

I am still using my Bernina 1030 which is a really solid excellent machine. Do you think quality of build the B570 is comparable to the 1030? Also a question you may not want to answer - any negatives about the B570?

      Emma!! I have a wonderful lady who is one of my customers. She bought herself a 330 five years ago, then she decided she wanted to upgrade to the 570 2 years ago. Last year she decided she wanted a new serger. She makes LOTS of purses, wallets and bags and does some quilts. She just turned 95!! 74 is a spring chicken....you should do what makes you happy with your time and your craft!!!
      And yes, you can do a queen size quilt if you roll it and work from the center out no problem!

      Don't get a new computerized Bernina. Way way way too complex. I am feeling like a chump because I caved again and bought a new Bernina. My old Bernina 930 is far superior for basic and advanced garment making and piecing. How much machine quilting are you planning on doing? If you plan on making over ten quilts a year and are a good machine quilter then, by all means, get the 570, if not, look for a used 930. Best machine ever. This advice is probably way way way too late!

    How do you get the pressure foot to go Up and down with your needle staying in the material automatically for sewing in a square..

    • @QuiltingInTheValley
      @QuiltingInTheValley  4 года назад

      You will find that in settings: choose the stitch icon in upper left corner, then touch the icon that looks like a finger pointing at some stitches. The sewing machine picture should pop up. Now touch the pic of a needle on the right side and choose either foot down, hover, or foot up. Close everything out and you are set. (Needle still down has to be activated for this function to work.)
