Ray Houghton - Liverpool Football Club 1987-1992

Houghton was added to the new acquisitions Aldridge, Peter Beardsley and John Barnes to form one of the most exciting forward lines in the club's history.
Liverpool went on to coast to the League title by the end of 1988, with Houghton contributing some fantastic displays as a marauding creator from the flank.

Was he a winger? I thought of him as an attacking midfielder. As someone said here, he was rather overshadowed by Beardsley, Barnes and probably Aldridge too but his contribution to the team still massively crucial. Just a fantastic player who fitted the mould of that incredible late 80's Liverpool team.

During the first Souness season he was easily the player of the year, along with Saunders. The following season Souness sells them both to Villa.
