    prebuilts have come a long way. The Legions by Lenovo, and the Omens from HP are two I always check out. I have a 5yr old OMEN (8700/2080) still running strong. Something rarely brought up with pre builts is that you get a full warranty, and usually the option to add another year or 3, for under $100. They mostly use good cases, PSUS, and components these days, and it seems that they're always on sale of some kind. And you're buying from ONE single vendor. I've upgraded my OMEN with Memory, HDDs, SSDs, GFX cards, etc. ANd the case is standard enough, that if I wanted to, (I dont) I could build another new machine inside it. I dunno, they get a bad rap IMo. and years ago, that was warranted for sure.

      @@EviiProductions33 I just received mine yesterday, I can tell you it’s absolutely amazing for the price. I can easily run Warzone 2 on maxed out ultra settings, ray tracing, literally everything on max and it gets 75fps. If you cut it to all high settings it’s around 110-120fps depending on where you’re at on the map. Fortnite I had a bit more trouble as far as maxed out epic settings, but with just high it runs perfectly. Probably something to do with the large map on fortnite. Every other game I’ve played (halo infinite, rocket league, minecraft) have been completely obliterated by this machine. 10/10 performance for this price level. I bought one of these in 2021 to get a decent GPU without overpaying for one. I have upgraded the base CPU fan to the Artic Freezer 34 eSports Duo and then later to a Deepcool Castle 240EX AIO. I also upgraded the 3700X to a 5900X. In addition to that I upgraded the RTX 2060 to an RX 6700XT and the RAM from 16GB to 32GB. The video card upgrade required upgrading the power supply as well. Lastly, I added the motherboard VRM motherboard heatsinks from the Lenovo site and added a heatsink to my NVME SSD. These machines are highly upgradeable and I recommend getting one if you want a prebuilt that you can upgrade in the future if you feel comfortable.

    What I'm most excited about, is the level of upgradability this has. I was recommended the PC because of that, as well as the specs, namely the processor.
    My current PC doesn't offer much at all in the way of upgrading, so this is a much more promising alternative.

The newer bios update fixes it, but it is a nightmare trying to get the pc to boot back into windows so you can download the new software. Looking at this or a NZXT Streaming around the same price for my son's first gaming PC. The NZXT has the same GPU but lower tier CPU, fewer fans,, better PSU, H510 case with the solid front no mesh, BIOS is XMP, overall runs warmer based on other reviews. Go Lenovo and upgrade PSU or NZXT and upgrade CPU?

    • @torii_101
      @torii_101 Год назад +1

      i'd suggest you go with the custom-build route instead, it'll be a fun activity for you and your son. if you don't like that, i suggest you go with the nzxt streaming plus - the one with 5700x and 3070. looks like this specific lenovo pre-built is back at 1399 pricing per his link in the description box. going with the nzxt one will get you a better GPU and the 5800 vs 5700x will just perform the same with the advantage for 5700x having the PBO in BIOS if you're into that overclocking stuff.

    • @ianobodie2338

      @@torii_101 Thanks for the reply. Not ready to build one just yet. I lucked into a good deal on a Legion with a i7 12700 and rtx 3070 so I have one of those on the way now. Can't overclock but it's a few hundred cheaper than I could buy the same components. Without the deal I might be able to go cheaper building myself. Savings provided room for a PSU upgrade. Overclock components would cost several hundred more. Still like the looks of the NZXT but too many reviews of the older cases running warm. Maybe they'll move to their flow cases for prebuilds in 2023 but my son can't wait.

      Me too. Same problem. The Lenovo onsite tech had a look and said the PSU is very small and the space allocation in the case limits what it can be replaced with and i might need an STX PSU to replace (not an ATX). The power connector on the MOBO is 24 pin though. The current 500W (too low for the GPU) is a cheap Chinese brand. Coolermaster have some good STX PSU's. I'll let you know how i get on if you want.
