    POWER HAMMER is not going into the new shop The blacksmith shop going in different area entirely. Floor will remain safe.

      We'll see. I've seen floors crack even with control joints in them. They're still floors then though. Have you thought of putting anything on the concrete? I worked in a shop that had asphalt tiles on the floor. It is better on the back when you're on your feet all day long. I know people put them puzzle pads down. I got rugs in some places myself. I saw a guy that had an amazing oriental rug in his shop. He really loved that car he had on it. heh

      Two guarantees of concrete: 1. It will crack! 2. Nobody will steal it!

    • @turboconqueringmegaeagle9006
      @turboconqueringmegaeagle9006 6 лет назад +2

      MakeTinkerShare not with a handful of fibre in it, you could pour a 2" thick slab of fibre reinforced concrete on a big then drive tractors over it all day long, costs pennies to get a few kilos added to a mix.

    Don't forget to put a metal sheet in front of the spring on the power hammer arms. Those can sometimes fly off with enough force to murder you in your shop.

    I have a heated floor in my home both 1st and second floor and 3 car garage. I only keep the garage heated to 40 degrees so it stays above freezing. It's nice to have and as long as your garage is fully insulated. Also works great in the summer 75 degrees because it's hooked up to a geothermal system

      I know this may seem arbitrary but like the word goes Pole Barn is often misussed, now a days its technically post frame. I am not saying you must but just fyi according to NFBA and other post frame (pole barn) sources seeing as its also used by steel frame manufacturers for their structures.

    • @1pcfred
      @1pcfred 6 лет назад +2

      When I was in the union I worked on huge commercial construction projects and we'd put heavy machinery on dedicated concrete pads. Which when designed at the outset went clear through the concrete decking, and stood proud of it too. In the grand scheme of things that slab Jimmy got there is a tad on the thin side for sitting heavy machinery on. I've poured way thicker.

    • @Hoaxer51
      @Hoaxer51 6 лет назад +1

      Master of None , I think he said it was a five inch floor. With one inch pipe, drilling for a four inch anchor would be a little risky if you didn’t know where the pipe was.

      Him and the tax man share it. That concrete makes sure it gets taxed at a good rate. Well, good for the tax man at any rate. That's the difference between a permanent and a temporary structure right there.

  • @Mekratrig
    @Mekratrig 6 лет назад

    I am guessing the tubing being stapled carries hot watar to generate the radiant heat? If so, will the temperature difference in the concrete deteriorate the slab over time?

    Hey Jimmy, loved seeing the radiant heat pipe go in. I’ve done some of those myself. Just a word of caution though, if they used kitech pipe it will eventually delaminate outside of the concrete. Don’t know what they were using, but it looked like kitech to me.
