Some say he's still trying to start that chainsaw to this day.
I really wanted the video to end with the chainsaw running... The unknown is going to haunt me!
Carl Childers said there ain't any gas in it...
That last clip was terrifying.
I was waiting for it to be running at the end also.
Restoration? Considering the condition that Winchester was in I'd call it a friggin resurrection.
Accurate description. On my area we call that "utility restoration", or "usage restoration".. really does not translate well to English, but idea is to get it into working order and prevent future wear and tear much as possible while looks come later in priority list. Looks can suffer when alternative is to go trash or melted on scrapper. If you cant use something is just a decoration and it looses most of its value as what it was. Though one should leave open possibility to have it restored properly later on if all possible.
8 years! I need to make more. Thanks for all the videos, lessons, and tips. I have truly enjoyed watching your journey so far and the growth of the channel and shop. Thanks for all the work you do.
Fabulous how you have evolved from a maker to a maker-entrepreneur, bringing together many people in a collective neural net of thought & practice that far exceeds each individual part. One of the most exciting human adventures I have ever seen, one tide lifting so many boats. Thank you for everything you do!
"One tide lifting so many boats" I'll tell ya Springwood, That was well said.
"Stop reading books. Just jump in and start making books."
Sounds like a new poster idea.

Christine just came up with the perfect tag line: "Grow the jeans, grow a pair!"
I"m so excited about those jeans!
Make Something Go and win that go-cart race!!
I really missed the vlogs. You do an amazing job showcasing the talented individuals throughout your travels.
Thank you Jimmy for allowing me to come by and bother you. Loving all the updates and now I'm looking to start a gocart build! Hope to see you soon!
Thank u thank u jimmy always appreciate your time spent. Enjoyed
Le fabuleux destin de Jimmy Diresta. Tu devrais venir en France, nous sommes nombreux à te suivre et à vouloir te rencontrer !
Thanks for the vlog Jimmy, my family and I love watching these, and we have missed them for a while. These are definitely our favorite part of your channel.
To me the gun is better than restored. It's not a museum piece you're afraid to scratch. I think many people are beginning to appreciate old things renewed vs. restored. You can't restore it all. But we could reuse much of it. Great video. Thanks for sharing
Great vlog! It’s nice to see all of the things you talk about on the podcast. Your energy is incredible. You’ve got so many irons in the fire... I have no idea how you keep track of it all! I’m sure it took a lot of effort to compile this much footage, but the payoff is great for us fans. Thanks!
"A gentleman is someone who can play the accordion, but doesn't." - Tom Waits
Excited to see a new vlog from you. Those jeans look amazing, can't wait to hear more about them!
The year is 2057..
Many moons have passed, many people have come and gone..
But the legend remains strong, to this day nobody knows if that Chainsaw ever started...
Jimmy your just the best. I have binged all your videos while I recover from ankle reconstruction. Best time ever spent. I hope to get to the Cleveland event.....only if I'm walking.
Dude, I've always loved the idea of custom jeans tailored for makers so I'm super excited for DiResta Makewear jeans but I have one request that I thinnk a lot of folks would get behind...... eventually if possible please make them available in dark gray or black! Never been a blue jeans guy myself. Gray and black everything for me. If not I'll still support the business and get the blue ones though. Much love Jimmy! Keep it up brother! Now I have to go build something.
You know, you could dye a pair or ten black.
@@thomasarussellsr I definitely thought of that and will if they aren't available in gray or black. I'm just excited that they exist and I'll get to use them! Thanks for the suggestion Thomas ;-)
So you just hired an Accordion player to sit outside your shop and serenade you all day?
Amazing. Wish I had thought of that.
We love you, JD. Thanks for helping us to learn.
Fantastic to see another vlog Jimmy. Have missed them. Looking well sir. 👍👍👍
So glad to have a new vlog jimmy. I’ve missed your vlogs. Love the behind the scenes look at your life!!!
Watching a DiResta video always blows me away! Jimmy has got his hands in so many different endeavours that it makes one marvel at how he is able to do it all. I also really like how he is bringing the Makers community together. Keep up the great work Jimmy & I can't wait to see what you come up with next! 👍👍
“Only the best berries grow within the rust”
Adds that flav.
@@HandToolRescue that tang-a-lang-a-dang keeps both anemia and tetanus away
Absolutely true lol.... I ate the berries in the rust growing up. You cannot buy that taste!
berries are high in iron
My mother used to sing that song to me as a kid "you are my Sunshine" . Amazing I miss d that song
Glass Ceiling any idea what song it was that Andrew was slapping on the anvils? Familiar but I can't place it.
So happy to watch your vlogs, can’t imagine the time it takes to put it all together. Keep inspiring man
From the opening chicken to the closing chicken - loved it all. Great to catch up with all things Diresta.
Great to see the vlogs back! I always really enjoyed them. Thanks for everything you do for everyone.
I will call it giving it a new life to some people it might not be a restoration to me you gave it a new life and that is awesome.... great job

Jimmy the Maker (the personally signed version!) is my boys favorite bed time story. Such a cool and different avenue. Also can't wait to see how the inside of the barn is finished off. What an epic building. Cheers!
I call the Winchester a great fix. I like that comment, "it didn't work now it works!" Perfect! 👍

I love the go kart race challenge. Glad to see you using a competition to challenge your subscribers to build. Please consider making this an annual event because I would love to participate, but I won’t be ready this year. I gotta focus on the battleship restoration. Have fun. BTW - I definitely want at least two pair of the pants.
HAPPY TO SEE YOU VLOGING AGAIN

Awesome that you got a Windmill. Our makerspace, MakeICT in Wichita, Kansas just bought a Windmill as well as an elementary school building. We'll be moving into 22,000 square feet of awesome space in just a month or two. If you *ever* get near Kansas, come see us.
Life looks good Jimmy. Thanks for sharing
Bringing manufacturing back to New York a little at a time, thanks Jimmy. (Sincerely, it's very cool to see.)

As soon as I heard about it, I bought that book for my daughter! I wish I could say it inspired her to start making her own toys, but at least she likes when we read it together. She's only six, though, so there's still time. :D
The chainsaw never did start so we switched to an electric one. Weak spark.
Thank you! I was starting to get a twitch not knowing.
I thought that was you in the golf cart!
Same problem, trying new coil.
It was great to see footage of me at 22:56 during the welding class! There is much awesomeness in this vlog, Jimmy! 2020 will no doubt be epic! Stay awesome, my friend. 😎

Having watched you and the family thru the various shows and things I appreciate that you're a humble appreciative guy. I like that you Thank people for contributing to your life. We live vicariously thru you. The one segment i wish you would bring back is at the end where you open up your mail and show all the free stuff people send you!! Good luck and God Bless...
Thanks for the informative and very inspirational update.
It's great to get a new update on things! Christine is working "behind the seams" on your clothing line. ;)
Love your blog edits, what an enjoyable mix of sights, sounds and inspiration. I bought one of Tracy's books for my baby grandson... someday, when he's older, I'll tell him they were actually fish bats for your uncle. Hahaha

Beautiful accordeon version of ‘La Bohême’ in your clip. Remindes me of my dad who passed away in 2018 and had golden hands in a way like you. Thanks! Greets from a fan of yours in Belgium.
Happy New Year! 2019 was an amazing year, and 2020 is poised to be even better. Exciting things to come. I can't wait....to see what you cut a burrito with next!
