"Be patient with me: i'm still learning!" This phrase said from YOU - Jimmy Diresta - made my day! Your hunger to always learn new things in such an humble way is so inspiring! Thanks
Amazing seeing you do the die cutting on the old school machines Jimmy! My grandfather was a die cutter for part of his life (is a man of many talents like yourself who had to hustle a lot) but his machine was 3 phase electric with a cutting bed of about 4x6ft! He always made so sure we didn't get our arms in there for too long between cuts when we were helping him as kids or they wouldn't been crushed and torn off. I loved watching him make the cutting forms; he used to design boxes that didn't need glue to hold them together and often had to problem solve for things like hand made wine glasses and stoneware made by local artists. Ah, bringing back memories! Keep it up mate! From Aust. xxo
Those shots of you and Waelder going over his truck! That's feel-good right there.
Facts
Way to change Jimmy. Constantly evolving, changing, staying fresh. Thank you for giving so much inspiration to always learn new stuff.
"I want to do more taxidermy" ... switches camera to cat view...
WHAHAHA 🤣
"I want to begin to make my own legs" ... switches to flesh and bone legs view...
It would make a nice mounted pair with the mouse!
Thought the same
What an inspiration man. Thank you for taking the time to take us all along on your journey. Here's to the hope that we all can contribute ... CHEERS!
David Waelder always brings a smile to my face. Such a gem!
Oh my god, that truck is so RAD! I love the old step beds
Surprised one of those chickens don't have Diresta on it.....😂
You really shouldn’t have tempted him....
I have a matching rooster... his name just changed to Diresta!
What a good way to show Taylor having fun! Hope you got to celebrate with her!
Great blog!
As a kid growing up deep in the heart of Texas, at lunch everyday we would listen to Paul Harvey. His one hour radio broadcast was a mix of commercials and stories. It was a feel good program. As I watch this episode of Diresta you bring back a lot of that style. One thing we all agreed back then. If Paul Harvey recommends it it's got to be good. I hope that you will develop the same following and reputation.
Shawn Strode “And now you know, the rest of the story.”
Good day
Thank you!
Thanks David and David's dad for saving the Chevy. I love that truck.
It was great to see David come by your shop! Amazing stuff he and his Dad did on the truck.
Taylor those were some excellent dance moves at G.S.
When I worked in custom picture framing everything (print wise) was sent in tubes. I like flat because paper has a memory. When you pull it out of the tube it curled. Makes it hard to frame and easy to crease. Flat is best, but shipping can be problem. I had a large piece of tempered glass on a sheet of laminate covered MDF. I would slide the curled prints in there overnight to flatten them. Kinda of a pain and takes up a foot print in the shop, but necessary give the tube shipping..
Time to clone Jimmy. I mean, instagram, facebook, shop, getting clients, farm maintenance, misspelling, new Maker space, video-editing, shopping for white spray paint, marketing products... man, I want to for you, I mean with. The Jimmy Diresta Factory! Keep up the great make!
Buncha cool stuff going on. Thanks for giving everybody backstage passes!
It was an absolute pleasure (and one of the highlights of my ORD Camp 2018) to sit beside you during the taxidermy class. I've admired your abilities from afar for so many years, it was amazing to see them up close. Thanks for everything over the years Jimmy!
great to hang out bro! thank you for the love and support!!
You must be happy that you gave your nice truck to someone who's taking care of her.Awesome vid
talks about being so curious about taxidermy and immediately cuts to his cat- AHHHHHH!!!! RUN CAT RUN
you know your hands hurt when ya gotta get the backup pair out.
Thanks for the mention of my book Jimmy! Appreciate it!
Very cool Bert!
"I'm back baby, WHOOHOO!" Best intro ever :-D Always great to hear what's happening in the eventful world of Jimmy, thanks for sharing!
Still loving the Vlogs!! I get sad when they end! Lol, love you Jimmy!
I don't know why but Jimmy and Taylor's adventures at the grocery store always make me laugh.
Loved this video. All of it. The chipmunk voice and tiny hands cracked me up. The truck bit reminded me of my old pickup that I had to start by touching a screwdriver across the starter solenoid terminals.
Absolutely loved the dance scenes.
Love, love, love these trucks! I have a 1970 short step.
The little hands are cracking me up!
he should sell them on his webstore
Great video! It's 4:41am and I havent been to bed! I feel like I am on Jimmy's schedule! 🤣
I'm not 50 seconds into the video and my favorite part is "dancing in the food aisle" !!! :D
I agree with you on learning the old disciplines. I wish I had the resources to go to old school machine shops and see how things were made. Learning all the old techniques help innovate the future.Very cool die cutter!
The dancing made those transitions.
Love weilder in the c10. Awesome to see it on the road.
Best part of this is the cat at the end.
Taylor cracks me up!!! I used a shop bot like the one you've got over the summer. It had a 16" lift kit installed. The lift kit was cut on a water jet for almost nothing... If you get to a spot where you want to add height, I can send photos.
You could get a 4th axis for your new CNC to make your table legs. Or better yet, you could build a 2 axis CNC right on top of one of your lathes. All you need is up down and left right.
You go from taxidermy, to a shot of Spike on your cutting mat lol!
Yay! Spike lives! I don't know the name of the beautiful cat at the end, but she'd catch more mice without a bell!
Another cool vlog Jimmy.
You've inspired me to dig out the old 'Ademco' letterpress printer that lives in the attic here to try doing some linocut and woodblock prints again Thanks :)
Dang dude....that as fun.
...and Taylor's got some grocery store moves! CHEERS
Always look forward to a Jimmy vlog. Just checked out the blog. Good luck with it.
Talks about mouse taxidermy. Next shot, pets the cat.
Great editing Jimmy.
Hey Jimmy , thanks for sharing , it is really cool hearing what you are doing!!!! Glad to see the old truck!! Regards BobLee
A carver wheel would work much better on the duplicator grinder. Specifically because it cuts both in and in front. But, at the same time i'd recommend having a two step axis for the process. Step 1. a rough grind (using a spacer of the smallest dimension to be cut - 1 cm ) and step 2. the final cut. This could be achieved easily by having a threaded spacer between the "legs" you made on the copy post. Hope that made some sort of sense.
Nice video Jimmie I am big fan from Brazil good work
Nice plug for Liam Hoffman. Kid has the talent and work ethic...
Hiya Jimmy - I'm new here, getting in the door backwards via Mustie1 and Hand Tool Rescue. (Remember the gas powered drill?) You sure have a lot of stuff going on - fun stuff too. Love the patch on your hat and the cute grocery-store dancer. (Is that your wife? Lucky guy.) Looking forward to more fun and I have a lot of binge watching to do now. Chuck in Kansas
In Russia, the word Diresta became a nickname (or a common name) to people who create beautiful things or masterpiece stuff with hands.
MotoBugalter он в России известный? Круто!
Little known fact: old pickup trucks have souls.
Love the cats. Oh and the die-cutting too..
Awesome vlog! Taylor dancing in Walmart though!! LMFAO 😂😂🤣🤣 👍
Taylor really gets into shopping, doesn't she?
Love the truck!
Cool to see David, he seems like he’s enjoying life and enjoying he new toy!
Inspired.
Again.
Thank you.
cool gal, huge shopbot, living the life, bro !
Thanks for the inspiration...
Keep on trucking (from France) !
Hey Jimmy top tip for laserengraving. If you want to do fine lines in like a patern or something. Setup the lines to be cut and up the cutting speed to the max. Not only will the engraving be faster than normal engraving but also the result will be very nice and detailed. Keep that laser hot!
I'm the only one who immediately click for a button like that without watching a video?
p.s. Thank your Jimmy so much! I like your day off videos.
You segue from taxidermy to a clip of Spike. Run Spike, Run!
need to find myself a girl with the same spirit as Taylor. you two are amazing!
Dave! Remember when I met you both in person in the city. Dave is the real deal. That “Whew!” made me smile.
I wondered about that truck. Good for Dave!
With David in the country maybe think about doing another trip video series, you could include the shop bot, milling machine, whatever, I just miss he shop Troll running the camera and wisecracking ya.... food for thought? I can't be the only one missing that stuff. Great Vlog, thanks for posting
Where it says trip it should say "tip".... auto correct got me
It's a badass cat that uses square pipe as a chew toy.
LMAO..talks about taxidermy and wanting to learn more then cuts to video of his cat! (11:15)
Well now that you are diving into taxidermy I can see a whole bunch of stuffed squirrels setting around the poker table having drinks and puffing on cigars. Lol
Jimmy discusses learning taxidermy.......... then the next shot is of his cat. RUN KITTY!
Glad to see the truck running. 👊🏼👍🏼
Awesome. Glad the old C-10 found a new home. My parents had a 1969.
That shopbot is a monster. Can't wait for the CNC rustic farmhouse table!
you can now take a nice relaxing trip to the levy
At 5:06 you should frame that picture of the teepee.
Next step: Waterjet cutter. One at least big enough to handle a full sheet of plywood.
You need a rolling cart (or carts) you can use for laying out your prints so that they can dry. Maybe that way you could produce more in less space.
Very impressive with your opening paragraphs.
When it said sponsored by Wix I thought you were getting truck filters. Guess that shows where my mind is at! lol
"I'm going to update my blog once a week."
What every blogger says...but never does.
Very Eclectic video style, Love it and the dancer. Looks like the happy side of contented.
Talks about taxidermy. Cuts to clip of Spike. Spike be like " I'm outta here ". :-)
Stay tuned. Next video, Taxidermy sponsored by Arbortech!
You showed my place for a half a second while you drove down 90/94 in your last Chicago driving scene. Cool you were in town. Wish we could have had some sort of meet up. Maybe next time. Love the VLOGs looking forward to the blogs. Congrats on the shopbot we will soon see 10' DIRESTA cut outs. 👍🏻😉 love you're evolution in digital "making" it's really been fun to see and awesome to see how you integrate it into your other making techniques. You're truly the ultimate maker.
Some great new inspiring stuff Jimmy.
One of the last true Renaissance Men. Continually impressed.
Jimmy reinvents the automobile ! Better watch out big 3 he's coming for you .
Maybe you could taxidermy a shark to go with your "frickin' laser beams!" :o)
I really want to go Walmart shopping 🛒 with Taylor!
Loving the store dance.
If you learn taxidermy, Spike can live forever.
When spike Purred my calico looked at the screen. LOL! "What the ....." loved that. dancing girl? Do you dance?
David said “Jim’s old truck” I thought 💭 Who’s Jim??? Then it hit me! Duh! Love the Vlogs man. Keep up the entertainment brother!
The cats ROCK !!!
Your welcome Jimmy Diresta.
Glad you have a deal with Wix! Revenue is good! One of these days I’ll have to get my domain going again. That Shop Bot is nuts. The clip of Spike right after the taxidermy made me freak a bit! Take all the time you need, your still learning. Gonna check thos books out. Love everything that is you! 😍🐱🤓🐻. 🐭< Taxidermy mouse!
I finally was able to order an ICE PICK! Love you, Jimmy!
