Angel City Lumber reminded me of "Sapphire Pine" a business founded and run by two UC Berkeley students (colleagues of mine).
"Drought and a deadly bark beetle have turned 102 million Sierra Nevada trees from green to brown.
Left standing, the trees burn or rot in the forest, emitting massive amounts of climate-changing gases into the atmosphere."
Sapphire Pine uses this wood to make beautiful furniture with lots of character.
Wish I would have thought to mention them while you were in CA. Great stuff they and Angel City Lumber are doing.

Jimmy, I've had an idea for a welding that is able to use woodworking bench dogs. Weld pipe to all the holes underneath your table and if needed weld a bottom layer to stiffen it all up. You could make all types of custom dogs. Personally I have no need for a welding table now but thought it might be something that you could make use of or experiment with. Love the vlog, thanks for all the hard work.

Fun stuff! Using the table saw kinda like a lathe was an interesting and slightly terrifying watch. (I’m not a maker myself, so watching the big power tools is often terrifying!)
