    This review is spot on. Ford hit a home run with the Ranger. However I would expect my fully loaded XLT with 302a and tech package to have the same features as a mid grade Fusion SE. My Fusion had light up vanity mirrors, automatic (one-touch) windows and other minor touches. Absolutely no excuses for a fully loaded XLT truck to not have the same basic amenities as Fusion of equivalent trim level

    Its called lowering the tailgate slowly with your hands lazy people.

    • @NoahStage3
      @NoahStage3 5 лет назад +7

      It has less to do with laziness and more to do with the overall quality of the Ranger and how it stacks up against its competition. Most of the Ranger's competitors have a damped tailgate and most consumers like that feature so it's worth mentioning in the review. Thanks for watching!

    • @LynxStarAuto

      I added an aftermarket one on my work truck f150. I walk up to my bed hands full, flip the handle with my pinky, and down it comes without worry.

      @@NoahStage3 no fuck that I've had only old Ford's and used them for work, anybody who needs a dampened tailgate is just lazy. Open it up before you walk up to load things, I had an old f250. That tailgate isnt even aluminum so it's heavy as hell and I never needed dampeners. Besides, 99 percent of people driving those tacos and Colorado's with dampeners won't ever use the truck for work so why does it matter

    • @jamesmcintire3800
      @jamesmcintire3800 5 лет назад +1

      Exactly. Are we that spoiled that we cannot hold the tailgate as we lower it anymore? I tested a new Canyon a couple weeks ago with the dampened tailgate and wasn’t sure what to think honestly. But then I’m not used to it either. I’m used to the tailgate on my 2012 F-150 which is not dampened and works just fine!

    Reminds me of a Toyota Helix from a few years back. Drove one on vacation and loved it. Thing was a basic mid truck that was built like a tank. Found out it never would be sold in the US. I was really disappointed, and now FORD makes a similar model. Sold👍😎

    When did men get so soft? Needing an assist to open a tailgate?

    • @NoahStage3
      @NoahStage3 5 лет назад +2

      Not a necessity, the tailgate is plenty easy to open on its own. It simply gives the truck a higher quality feel and it's a feature that can be found on most of the Ranger's competition.

    I just bought the Ranger Lariat/CC/FX4/Tow pkg. Very pleased with both the available power on hand,and ride is extremely good,as is the handling. On a recent 314 mile road trip,running 89 oct,that yielded a 21.835 avg mpg. I live in a mountain state so most of the trip was at 65mph,and 3 or 4 6% passes to climb. Actually,we are climbing out of the valley we live in,in any direction. Once I hit 1500 miles on the clock,I will change out the oil to Amsoil,and their micro fiber filter.

    My review of the 2019 Ranger I ordered a Ford Ranger from the factory and it took 4 months to get it delivered. I have had the truck for about a month with 1 thousand miles on it. The more I drive it the more I hate it. Tonight I just ripped the roof mount antenna off the roof and the wires are cut. What moron would design a truck that is so high and the back of the truck so jacked up that you can't reach into the bed and then mount the antenna on the roof so it can get ripped off by a garage door or any low object. There is only two inches to spare on a standard garage door. Now the headliner will have to be removed to fix the wiring. I wonder how many times that will happen. The motor produces good low in torque so there is power but the 10 speed transmission doesn't really know what it is supposed to do up shifting or down shifting, it is slow to make up its mind and what is the problem with coasting? It feels like it is being held back. When you are at full throttle and then you back off the pedal it takes some time for the RPM to start to drop. No waste gate for the turbo? Really strange. The stop start feature does not work that well. When you want it to stop it doesn’t and when you want it to keep running it stops. It can be defeated but you have to press the button every time you start the truck. The technology package provides information just don't wreck the truck while driving trying to find the information you are looking for. Also now the tiny tach resides on the left side of the cluster. As others have noted the actual fuel mileage is not as good as indicated by the instruments. It appears to be off by a mile or two more than what the mileage actually is. Interesting enough the interior doesn't have as much room as the 2012 extended cab Colorado that I traded in. The stereo does not sound as good in the Ranger as it sounded in the Colorado. For the record I was not happy with the Colorado for its lack of power and the 4 speed automatic that never knew what gear it should be in for the weak engine. The Colorado was far easier to maneuver during in town situations more like driving a car. The Ranger is awkward to get into and out of. When you exit the truck you have to slide out of the seat which will ruin the bolster on the seat in the long run and getting into the truck with or without and step is equally awkward. The Ranger 2 wheel drive with a sticker of over $33,000.00 leaves a lot to be desired and if I knew then what I know now I would have looked for a better truck than this. I regret the purchase.Wait and see what the Dodge Dakota is like when it comes out.

    No there is another option that most will forget to mention. Nissan Frontier Pro 4X with premium package. In that, you get great leather seats with heat, power 8 way with power recline (ford doen't have that), a better center stack with bigger buttons (not the god awful Fusion stack with smallish buttons etc.. not truck like) dual climate control zones, sunroof, NAV, BT, 10 speaker rockford fosgate with sub (Ranger XLT here has the crap 6 speaker sony HU) Strong VQ40 24 valve DOHC that pretty much keeps up with the little 2.3 but does it with zero lag, and will run 300K miles (proven) Dana 44 locker, descent control, 31 inch all terrain, skid plates, heated mirrors, back up camera with sonar sensors, spray bed liner with utility track (optional on XLT) 4X4 HI/LO. This is just as capable as the new ranger with allot more features standard. It has a truck like ride, more planted and not the car like bouncy back/forth like the Ranger. Back seat folds flat (ranger does not) power windows angled up perfect and ergonomic, Ranger is not, recess flat and behind. All I got to say is test drive the XLT for 38K and then a loaded Pro 4X. The Nissan destroys it. And I got mine for 36500 out the door, tax title etc.. And I'm rocking a full stereo system with sub, sunroof, leather etc.. while the Ford gives you cloth to sit on with manual recline, crap ergonomics, no sunroof for 5K Plus more. Now the fully loaded lariat does offer as much luxury as a loaded Pro 4X. But then your talking about a MSRP that is over 10K more. That's insane and will be a very hard sell once they build inventory on the lots. I'll also add I owned a T6 Ranger overseas with the 3.2 inline 5 cylinder diesel. And loved it. So I do know a bit about the Ranger and I'm not just talking out of my ass. Had they put the 3.2 I would have bought it in the states. But they didn't. And the price points don't make any sense. Even more then a loaded offroad tacoma limited. At least in Lariat trim you get all the nice stuff. But the XLT pretty much priced at fully loaded on the competition. And that just a rip off. The XLT is the worst value IMO. Actually, with the way Ford messed up the bundling I would only consider the XL. At least that one is more inline with the competition.

    • @LynxStarAuto
      @LynxStarAuto 5 лет назад +2

      Nissnault is French crap. The VQ engine is also a boat anchor. Atrocious powertrain. One of the worst transmissions in the industry, and the VQ has known issues with oil consumption and timing chains. Going on a decade now. The Ranger Lariat starts at 32k is similarly equipped, and looks loads better than the Nissnault. Do not be a typical consumer who walks into the local dealer with your pants down and pays whatever they are asking.

    • @HiPlains1
      @HiPlains1 5 лет назад

      @@LynxStarAuto Nice try. The early issues of the VQ are long gone. Yes there was the ATI leak in the radiator, the timing chain, and even the fuel sending sensor would go out. By 2010 all of that was resolved. Yes I agree it took Nissan way too long. But at this point its rated number one for reliability in mid size based on maintenance and customer feedback. Renault does make some crap but the VQ 24 valve DOHC and power train has won many awards. And there are many who put 300K miles on these. The chassis is also strong using a Titan chopped Ladder construction. The 5 speed has normal behaviors with smooth shift points. Its a beautiful tune. Your crazy thinking this is a bad transmission. Its heavy duty and lasts forever. Now you want to poke fun just look at the crappy ass Tacoma aksison active learning transmission that gear searches, shifts hard, and early shifts that it gutless. Or GM's that shifts early and is prone to shudder with Torque convertor failures. The Nissan 5 speed OD has NONE OF THAT.
      As for your MSRP comparison PURE FUD. XLT 4X4 will generally run closer to 38K and that does not have upgraded leather, spray bed liner, or upgraded stereo or even a sunroof. The Frontier pro 4X comes with all that standard. To get to the level of the Pro 4X premium you looking at 45K lariat. Anyone who says that Ranger are competitive MSRP on the upper trim levels are smoking crack. With your example I would have to settle for the 2WD model without rear locker just to get the price down to my loaded Pro 4X. Screw that. I just recently went through the motions and priced everything out and also worked out the best deals I could involving many dealerships. What I found is the Lariat will generally cost 5K more then Tacoma offroad (loaded) or the GM Colorado Z71 (Loaded). When comparing the Lariat to the a loaded Frontier pro 4X with the premium package the difference is 10K more. Now its not my fault that Ford bundles in such a way that you are forced to buy into a ton of electronic crap just to get a nice stereo or leather. The bundling is a hot mess. Please quit spilling FUD about the issues with the Frontier from 10 years past. Look up the stats. Don't get too butthurt fella. Tundra and Frontier are now the top two for reliability. Its way too early to know how the Ranger will fair for longevity. No body can predict that. But the Nissan is a different matter. It has 10 years of proven reliability under its belt. And the Ranger's MSRP is way too high for the segment. Right now with low capacities with Ford fanboys with pent up demands you might find some fools to pay MSRP or even more. But that is not going to last. You better believe it.

      Did I also mention I've done timing chain modules on Nissnault 4.0's as recent as 2015MY? Yeah, they like to get this harmonic ringing sound. Really poor design, not cheap either. 1800 repair. Nissnault will tell you to 🖕🏽off too if you are past 50k miles.
      The transmissions? Do not even get me started. One of the worst units in the industry. The cooler failure is old news; back when dinosaurs ruled the earth. They finally figured that one out, but the valve bodies? Still fail. Tail housing seals? Still fail. Filters get plugged up prematurely, and the fluid? You would think there is a broiler built into the unit with how it scorches the fluid. Also, you will be lucky to get past 180k miles on one without a major rebuild. Which brings me to the next biggest issue they suffer from: housing wear. Making them practically useless. The housing wears out, making rebuilds an arduous, fruitless endeavor.
      Yeah, push your snake oil on someone else friend. I have been doing this for waaaaay too long now. Nissan has been a habitual pusher of junk for a better part of two decades now. The industry is better without them.

      @@HiPlains1 the thing you are purposely leaving out is the fact that the Nissan frontier has been unchanged since 2006... Anyone who pays what Nissan is charging for them is extremely unintelligent. Everything you have said is pure opinion and no facts. Nobody cares about your opinion. Just letting you know...

      Boss 302, 2 opinions given here and you presume HiPlains1 “ purposefully leaving out”? You offer no facts other than aging design. Smart people pay for value and not styling alone. Then you claim nobody cares about his opinion. Both opinions have value! Your Presumptions show a lack of intelligence.
      Previous owner of a Ford Ranger 91 4.0. Excellent vehicle with zero issues and sold with high mileage.
      Current 07 Frontier 4.0 and 08 Pathfinder 5.6 owner, both over 100,000 with zero issues.
      I drive my vehicles with a purpose and not particularly easy. ITALIAN TUNES regularly. Both my Nissans take the same oil and air filters which i find a plus.
      Personally i find the value comparison opinion carrying more weight than the mechanical problems opinion. Mechanics tend to be BRAND SPECIFIC with little experience outside their limited brand.

    There is a 4 cylinder available for the Tacoma. And 3 motors available for the GM twins.

      I do mention that GM offers a couple different engine options in the video, but you're right about me forgetting the 2.7L 4 cylinder from Toyota. I didn't realize they were still putting that motor in some of the Tacomas. Glad they kept it around!

    Compared to my 1999 Ford Ranger, the 2019 version is highly impractical! For example, just try and load bags of mulch from the side...difficult to do it since the truck bed is too high!

    Here's the truth about this truck, It's power delivery is anemic, The ride bounces all over hell, The center console digs in your leg if you're over 6 ft tall, the gas and the brake pedal are so close together when you hit the brake you'll accidentally hit the gas, and you look like you have cerebral palsy when you go to use the electric windows they're literally in your armpit. I drove to a Ford dealership today to try this out... Insanely disappointed. I'm 6'4 and It's built for a little tiny man. 44k-48k for this cramped, stuttering disappointment it doesn't even have push button start... If you're a sucker and buying the hype then this is your truck.

    I think you're wrong about Ford changing the look and design of the truck. Ford killed the Ranger because it was cutting into F150 sales after all.

    • @joshwithe7468
      @joshwithe7468 4 года назад

      hardly, the Ranger died because a few problems wouldn't pass the new crash standards. They had kept the same old design forever, and ran out of money for a Ranger redesign due to horrible company managment.
