2 day Prep is key for me. My current staple ingredients : Potatoes, carrots, zucchinis, vanilla rice protein, hemp protein, chia, flax, TJ can coconut cream/milk, stevia, seasonings, MCT Fasting!!!! Always have a filling soup made, cooked potatoes. Starting to prep more for our freezer. Hopefully adding avocado soon. I’m retraining my gut/microbiome after a severe intestinal dysfunction dysbiosis. It’s slow but my brain is recovering which was the worst part. All praise to God He is healing me everyday. 🙌🏼
I really love how you explain things! In the past year I took up hydroponic gardening, mostly indoors, it’s really made eating veggies more convenient. There’s expensive garden towers and everything, but really I started off with a little Aerogarden for around $100. I never have to go buy lettuce, microgreens, and herbs. I have tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers coming in.
I tried the Aero Garden a couple of times but didn’t use all of the herbs I was growing and it made such a mess with dropping leaves and attracting gnats that I quit. But, I am really interested in your growing lettuces and greens. How many gardens do you use? What size? What lettuces and greens have been most successful? Any other tips? Thanks!!!
@@lnachman12 I just cut the herbs down and freeze them, daily, if needed. I figure I can toss those into dishes that are cooked or soup. I might dry them eventually too. I also have a gardyn tower that I can grow anything in, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and peas. I’m thinking of doing a whole tower of strawberries. With Aerogarden’s I have one for lettuce, one for herbs, and one with cherry tomatoes. Watching everything grow makes me so happy and I love buying less produce at the store.

I am so weary of starting over and over to lose just 15 pounds. This made me realize the problem is cheating all the time and telling myself those few calories here or there don't count. Makes perfect sense - clear and concise. We’ve been told so many things over the years about foods to avoid, one of those has been potatoes so when I first saw you and other vegan RUclipsrs stack up on potatoes (carbs) my initial reaction was that can’t be right 🤔 but I see now that it’s ok how you and others present it (and back it up) so thanks for that 👍
Thank you for talking about calorie deficit. A lot of vegans who eat hclf refuse to talk about it and it leads to confusion and frustration when their followers are trying to lose weight. They act like the 50/50 plate is magic, not calorie dilution that leads to a calorie deficit.

Great information!! I love how you focus on the spectrum of progress vs perfection. Up until recently I would “mess up” and binge for a day or two, feel defeated. I had zero tolerance for any slip ups and would be very extreme in my diet attempts. WFPB lifestyle is just that, a lifestyle. Very satisfying food that leaves me feeling so much better. Explained exceptionally well!! For me, no, my taste did not change exceptionally fast. And, no, nothing about nutritional yeast taste like cheese to me. I could go on. I simply made up my mind 18 months ago to learn to like new foods, and that I have. I have adapted to nutritional yeast, it's a new taste, nothing more, nothing less.. I quit trying to make it taste like the cheese I've eaten all my life and it doesn't go in the trash anymore. Lol That's just one example. There are many. Love your videos! I've watched this video three times now. It's SO amazing. You couldn't possible explain this more accurately: Calorie Deficit is the absolute key! 21 lbs lost in 4 months for me now is proof! My family doesn't get it. "How can you eat SO MUCH and still lose weight?" I actually feel so much better eating Vegan instead of heavy, calorie-dense meats and dairy. I love this. Thank you again, and again Chelsea! BTW, they sell Sistema containers here now at Walmart in the U.S. I've bought several; great for organizing the fridge! Can't wait for your next video!
@@firminebello2476 I would hope that Chelsea agrees: I'm pretty much eating what she's suggested in previous videos: a 50/50 combination of carbs (non-starchy veggies like potatoes). BUT, first and mostly, you MUST eat LESS calories than you need. For example, if your BMR is 1500 calories (what you need to maintain you CURRENT weight), then you need to eat LESS than the BMR value. Make's sense. If you watch her videos, you'll discover that you can eat TONS of FOODS while consuming less than your BMR. The trick (for me) is to find foods that make me satisfied, while staying below my BMR. Actually, it's EASY! There are so MANY recipes that call for oil. I just dry/water sautee your veggies and I can't tell any difference. SERIOUSLY! Oil-free, AIR-FRYED potatoes, and then lettuce, [any veggies] works! BUT, be sure to add spices (dried is fine) to make it deicious. Hope this helps. BTW, I'm coming up on 30 lbs loss in four months! (Woo Hoo!)

I still really love making soup. I can eat tons of soup with cooked vegetables. Love collard greens, swiss chard, canned tomato, eggplant, etc.. I also love sweet potatoes, celery, cooked carrots. I am still working on finding more vegetable-related recipes that I like and will eat regularly. I don't want my diet to become too monotonous.

you i found any time I add more fats my body changes quickly. Its like my metabolism slows down and I gain weight much faster. Where as when I stick to low fat plant based Iose and maintain my weight while getting to eat a higher volume of food

Took me awhile to start eating potatoes again even after watching your videos, and now they’re my favorite food. Its made eating in a calorie deficit so much easier for me. I feel so satiated and happy eating all these carbs. Stopped adding oil to my food too and I don’t miss it. I love having a small amount of walnuts to get my healthy fats and omegas
Love seeing a kiwi on RUclips who actually knows her stuff. RUclips caters for the US so it can be hard to find the foods they make over here. Excuse my ignorance but do you worry about macros when losing weight? I have discovered recently that protein keeps me fuller for way longer (not a huge fan of fish but I can be full and not craving anything for over three hours after eating a can if tuna). Do you worry about your protein on a vegan diet? Also omg I'm SO feeling you on the heat! Trying to save power but the aircon has been a life saver some days!

Love your videos. I’m going to implement not having treats in the house except for the few vegan desserts I have seen . I’m a type A personality and perfection is my game. But I have stopped logging my food on an app because I had over 2000 days logged and obviously if I had been in a calorie deficit I would have lost those last 10 pounds a long time ago. I’m using the cues from my body to know when I am hungry and have batch cooked some potatoes and have a lot of veggies ready to go. I’m hoping this time I will get rid of those last 10 pounds.

First time I see yours video: gotta say you are a great motivator! I really want to looked that 40 ponds over that I got in the last 2 years. I have never had a belley, I'm over 50 yes old and I dont feel good I'm my body like that. But I have so many health problem , and things I can't do that I almost taught its impossible to change that situation... but your video changer that. Si I decided to give it a try. First:. A small goal. . I will try to have one portion of veggie a day . I can est lits of fruits, but rarely veggies. Oh, and I don't cook . Don't know to well how to, and hate it. WOW! What a great, informative, thoughtful video. You are amazing and I love each video you create! I've noticed that most of your vegetables etc never say "organic" on them. Is that because in NZ you don't use the same pesticides as in the USA? This isn't a criticism I'm genuinely curious. We spend so much $ on organic food in our home focusing on the "dirty dozen" and I'm wondering if you know something that we don't or if in your part of the world the food is cleaner and healthier? I'd also love a video about your approach with your girls. They look like eat and love everything you make. I'm doing my very best with my 5 year old son but it's hard at times. I have a question I hope you can answer. If I follow my fullness/hunger cues and stop eating when I am comfortably full can I eat too little? I ask this because I had a feeling I was eating either too little or too many calories so I counted my calories on a pretty much normal day. I am eating too many. In trying to fix this, especially if I stop eating when I am full, can I actually eat too little? I am weight training and trying to build some muscle. I obviously do not want to eat too many calories because I have some fat to lose but I also do not want to eat too little either. When I say too little I mean 1200-1400. In that range. I am getting overwhelmed at trying to eat, not count calories, and gain muscle. And I know that it takes a long time to build muscle and it is something that wont happen overnight.

Great explanation. How about when you are eating less calories but not losing weight and working out. Could you be under eating and your body holds on to weight? My dietitian has me eating at least 1550 to 1750 calories a day and I am starting to lose a slow amount of weight.

Genius video thank you so much for sharing your journey…I have been working out 6 times a week before Covid… it was hard but my body changed so much I felt stronger and better… then I got Covid hit me so hard 3 weeks I was out and 2 years later I never felt the same … was not able to work out as much and as hard at all… I started fasting I completed 3 fasting phases in one year. It was a fast only on vegetable and certain fruits that showed me how important our habits are how important is what we eat every day. Calories deficit allowed me to loose all the stomach fat that I could never loose by working out. I followed this protocol by dr Ewa Dąbrowska Eating nutritional for body and soul … I lost 13 lb within 5 weeks never felt better stronger happier… the fact I could eat as much I wanted and still loose the weight. Hi Chelsea. I love your videos and have been following you for a few months. I've been doing wfpb since December. Eliminating oil and sugar as well. Literally was in tears last week because I keep losing and regaining the same 2 pounds. Keto worked for me but I prefer wfpb. Just not sure why I can't lose :( I did have my hormones checked and I'm estrogen dominant. Not sure if my hormones are working against me.

An other great video! Thank you Chelsea! I lost 30 pounds following the starch solution without counting calories and without any exercise ! I hit plateau for 3 months! So I started to exercise 5 times a week and started to count my calories, keep it around 1200 calories! Because I thought that surely would move the “needle” . Instead of losing weight I gained 5 pounds back. Now more than a month I am at that weight 🙄 Increasing of work outs and decreasing the food amount just got me a place where I don’t want to be! Now I am looking into metabolic adaptation and reverse dieting! Did you stop losing weight for a longer period of time on your journey?

Great information!! I love how you focus on the spectrum of progress vs perfection. Up until recently I would “mess up” and binge for a day or two, feel defeated. I had zero tolerance for any slip ups and would be very extreme in my diet attempts. WFPB lifestyle is just that, a lifestyle. Very satisfying food that leaves me feeling so much better. Explained exceptionally well!! For me, no, my taste did not change exceptionally fast. And, no, nothing about nutritional yeast taste like cheese to me. I could go on. I simply made up my mind 18 months ago to learn to like new foods, and that I have. I have adapted to nutritional yeast, it's a new taste, nothing more, nothing less.. I quit trying to make it taste like the cheese I've eaten all my life and it doesn't go in the trash anymore. Lol That's just one example. There are many. Love your videos! I've watched this video three times now. It's SO amazing. You couldn't possible explain this more accurately: Calorie Deficit is the absolute key! 21 lbs lost in 4 months for me now is proof! My family doesn't get it. "How can you eat SO MUCH and still lose weight?" I actually feel so much better eating Vegan instead of heavy, calorie-dense meats and dairy. I love this. Thank you again, and again Chelsea! BTW, they sell Sistema containers here now at Walmart in the U.S. I've bought several; great for organizing the fridge! Can't wait for your next video!

@@firminebello2476 I would hope that Chelsea agrees: I'm pretty much eating what she's suggested in previous videos: a 50/50 combination of carbs (non-starchy veggies like potatoes). BUT, first and mostly, you MUST eat LESS calories than you need. For example, if your BMR is 1500 calories (what you need to maintain you CURRENT weight), then you need to eat LESS than the BMR value. Make's sense. If you watch her videos, you'll discover that you can eat TONS of FOODS while consuming less than your BMR.
The trick (for me) is to find foods that make me satisfied, while staying below my BMR. Actually, it's EASY! There are so MANY recipes that call for oil. I just dry/water sautee your veggies and I can't tell any difference. SERIOUSLY! Oil-free, AIR-FRYED potatoes, and then lettuce, [any veggies] works! BUT, be sure to add spices (dried is fine) to make it deicious.

I still really love making soup. I can eat tons of soup with cooked vegetables. Love collard greens, swiss chard, canned tomato, eggplant, etc.. I also love sweet potatoes, celery, cooked carrots. I am still working on finding more vegetable-related recipes that I like and will eat regularly. I don't want my diet to become too monotonous.

you i found any time I add more fats my body changes quickly. Its like my metabolism slows down and I gain weight much faster. Where as when I stick to low fat plant based Iose and maintain my weight while getting to eat a higher volume of food

Took me awhile to start eating potatoes again even after watching your videos, and now they’re my favorite food. Its made eating in a calorie deficit so much easier for me. I feel so satiated and happy eating all these carbs. Stopped adding oil to my food too and I don’t miss it. I love having a small amount of walnuts to get my healthy fats and omegas

Excuse my ignorance but do you worry about macros when losing weight? I have discovered recently that protein keeps me fuller for way longer (not a huge fan of fish but I can be full and not craving anything for over three hours after eating a can if tuna). Do you worry about your protein on a vegan diet?

Love your videos. I’m going to implement not having treats in the house except for the few vegan desserts I have seen . I’m a type A personality and perfection is my game. But I have stopped logging my food on an app because I had over 2000 days logged and obviously if I had been in a calorie deficit I would have lost those last 10 pounds a long time ago. I’m using the cues from my body to know when I am hungry and have batch cooked some potatoes and have a lot of veggies ready to go. I’m hoping this time I will get rid of those last 10 pounds.

First time I see yours video: gotta say you are a great motivator! I really want to looked that 40 ponds over that I got in the last 2 years. I have never had a belley, I'm over 50 yes old and I dont feel good I'm my body like that. But I have so many health problem , and things I can't do that I almost taught its impossible to change that situation... but your video changer that. Si I decided to give it a try. First:. A small goal. . I will try to have one portion of veggie a day . I can est lits of fruits, but rarely veggies. Oh, and I don't cook . Don't know to well how to, and hate it. WOW! What a great, informative, thoughtful video. You are amazing and I love each video you create! I've noticed that most of your vegetables etc never say "organic" on them. Is that because in NZ you don't use the same pesticides as in the USA? This isn't a criticism I'm genuinely curious. We spend so much $ on organic food in our home focusing on the "dirty dozen" and I'm wondering if you know something that we don't or if in your part of the world the food is cleaner and healthier? I'd also love a video about your approach with your girls. They look like eat and love everything you make. I'm doing my very best with my 5 year old son but it's hard at times. Do you just expect them to eat the same meals and never offer an alternative so they're used to it? I'd love to hear your approach there. You are my goals! Thank you for all you do!

I have a question I hope you can answer. If I follow my fullness/hunger cues and stop eating when I am comfortably full can I eat too little? I ask this because I had a feeling I was eating either too little or too many calories so I counted my calories on a pretty much normal day. I am eating too many. In trying to fix this, especially if I stop eating when I am full, can I actually eat too little? I am weight training and trying to build some muscle. I obviously do not want to eat too many calories because I have some fat to lose but I also do not want to eat too little either. When I say too little I mean 1200-1400. In that range. I am getting overwhelmed at trying to eat, not count calories, and gain muscle. And I know that it takes a long time to build muscle and it is something that wont happen overnight.

Great explanation. How about when you are eating less calories but not losing weight and working out. Could you be under eating and your body holds on to weight? My dietitian has me eating at least 1550 to 1750 calories a day and I am starting to lose a slow amount of weight.

Genius video thank you so much for sharing your journey…I have been working out 6 times a week before Covid… it was hard but my body changed so much I felt stronger and better… then I got Covid hit me so hard 3 weeks I was out and 2 years later I never felt the same … was not able to work out as much and as hard at all… I started fasting I completed 3 fasting phases in one year. It was a fast only on vegetable and certain fruits that showed me how important our habits are how important is what we eat every day. Calories deficit allowed me to loose all the stomach fat that I could never loose by working out. I followed this protocol by dr Ewa Dąbrowska Eating nutritional for body and soul … I lost 13 lb within 5 weeks never felt better stronger happier… the fact I could eat as much I wanted and still loose the weight. It really makes sense what you mentoring and I follow you for some time … thank you for sharing your knowledge. ❤️💛💚

Hi Chelsea. I love your videos and have been following you for a few months. I've been doing wfpb since December. Eliminating oil and sugar as well. Literally was in tears last week because I keep losing and regaining the same 2 pounds. Keto worked for me but I prefer wfpb. Just not sure why I can't lose :(
I did have my hormones checked and I'm estrogen dominant. Not sure if my hormones are working against me.

An other great video! Thank you Chelsea! I lost 30 pounds following the starch solution without counting calories and without any exercise ! I hit plateau for 3 months! So I started to exercise 5 times a week and started to count my calories, keep it around 1200 calories! Because I thought that surely would move the “needle” . Instead of losing weight I gained 5 pounds back. Now more than a month I am at that weight 🙄 Increasing of work outs and decreasing the food amount just got me a place where I don’t want to be! Now I am looking into metabolic adaptation and reverse dieting! Did you stop losing weight for a longer period of time on your journey?
I LOVE potatoes , but how do I store them when I have cooked them so they don’t get this bad earthy taste when eating them the the day after or for meal prep ?
