    Great tips, thanks! I microwave my potatoes for three minutes and then put them in the air fryer for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on how big they are. That gives the peel a nice crustiness that I miss from oven baking, if I just microwave.

    I pretty much follow the Starch Solution or the Maximum Weight Loss by Dr. McDougall. I'd lost around 84 pounds, then for well over a month could not seem to move the scales down. After listening to this video, the light bulb went on. When you said: You MUST be in a calorie deficit, I realized that even though I was basically following the program, at 84 pounds lighter, I was not always doing a calorie deficit. Since then, I've kept that in mind, and the scales are moving down again. So thank you for your motivation and information.

    So wonderful to hear positive talk for the humble tattie! I have grown up with a fear of potatoes as being uber fattening. I am living on a farm just outside Rangiora, and there are so many potatoes just growing wild! Nothing nicer than eating a potato that was still in the soil that very morning.

    Great tips! Made me think of making some skin-on red/fingerling baby potatoes and putting them in a hot soup thermos. Easy to eat in the car with your fingers and the thermos won’t require the use of paper or foil. They could be seasoned without making a mess and won’t get squished! Thanks for the inspiration!

    Try no fruit or grains (replace those cals with potatoes) and weight will fall off. But be sure your body is full of kale green smoothie (i use stevia) or you’ll be snacky. Kale smoothie slays cravings. Fruit and grains drive it up. I do miss plain rice cakes but they only made me want more and didnt add nutrition.
    Also try an all raw veggies day here and there including green smoothie. Helps fat loss and appetite balance. Make that green smoothie big, lots of water, some salt, and drink 2-3 in your raw day. You’ll be so full!

    All great ideas. Very helpful! I actually do pretty well when left to my own devices. The problem for me arises in social settings. From really tempting unhealthy food just sitting there begging to be eaten... to peer pressure to eat and drink... alot... to guilt at not eating like a linebacker when friends/family invite you for a home cooked meal.

  • @mariepatt
    @mariepatt 6 месяцев назад

    This was really helpful. I did a different WFPB low-calorie density program and gained back my last 12 lbs after reaching my goal weight because it was too difficult to have 50/50 plates for every meal and snack. I like that your framework is a little looser, where taking a potato for a snack is so much easier than having to pack 50/50 veggies and snacks. Fresh veggies are so expensive right now! I think taking potatoes with me is going to save me from eating my son's granola bars at the park or cereal at my parents' house when I'm super hungry and away from my kitchen. This strategy would also have helped me a lot over the holidays. I hope I can reach my goal weight again and maintain it in a more sustainable way. I also liked your insight that creating an environment that helps us in our weight loss goals is important. From intuitive eating programs, I feel like I should be able to have chocolate, dates and peanut butter around the house and have the willpower to choose not to eat it, but it is just easier to leave them out of the house during this time. Thanks so much for these great tips!

    Hey Chels, you have a potato button on your microwave - I have been using the microwave for years to cook potatoes using that button. It doesn't matter if you are cooking one or six, it will cook them perfectly. I do flip them midway during that process, but it takes the guessing of how long to cook them out. Also, there is a great way to microwave corn still in the husk that works like magic - if you or anyone else are interested.

    Thanks for sharing. Your tips were very helpful. If you would rather not chop all those veggies, put them whole or in huge chunks in the IP. After you've cooked them, take a pair of scissors and hold them vertically. Then keep cutting the veggies until you get them the size you want. For me, this is so much easier and faster than the pre-chopping. Good luck, and thanks again.

    I think doing overnight oats is a popular way to prep breakfast. I like to make a batch of steel cuts oats (4 servings) and save the rest. That being said, I'm only one person and you're making food for 4, so I understand if you might not have the space to store that, or something. Anyway, thanks for another great video. I love the part where you talk about creating a system, with habits that are repeatable and more likely to become routines. Blessings!

But today you sharing your system to build the habits...well it was eye opening. You see my normal way of eating was restaurant, drive through and convenience foods from the grocery store. This kind of food is on every corner in America. It ticks me off big time. That said, I need a system that is easy, pleasant and affordable to make this life change I really want and need. Thanks for showing the way. I appreciate you! May blessings abound to you and your family.

      Read your comment and is so excited for you to start this journey Brenda! All luck and prosperity to you. I would have to mention though -- veganism is not a "diet" per se --- it is exclusively an animal rights movement --- a byproduct of which is a diet that does not involve the eating of animals or animal products, but it is so much more than that - it is about avoiding animal products in makeup, clothes etc etc... eating only fries and beer is also considered vegan but will never be healthy or good for you - veganism and a healthy "diet" is mutually exclusive.. someone that eats WFPB for health is an awesome lifestyle choice for humans... but that doesn't necessarily mean you are vegan... i know a lot of people dont always see the distinction... but it is an important one.. and good for us to mention. Best regards x

    I am actually really dubious of the Mrs Dash and Tony Checheres types of mixed spices. Those brands were always used in the prefabricated "bomb shelter food" my dad's family always ate. None of that was very healthy, and as a veg I feel it is everything I am trying to swim away from. My mother's cooking was the opposite extreme where most of the herbs came out of the garden. I've never been as adamant on that point as she however as I get older I do find myself growing basil and mint. And certain dishes like enchiladas just do not taste right to me now unless I am grinding down the ancho peppers into chili powder myself.

    Did you say this soup is two servings?! I made it exactly how you did, my fiance and I had a bowl (so good) and there's so much left over and I couldn't finish my bowl, it was so filling!

    Can this lifestyle help reduce ones breast size? I would love to go down from a D to a B cup, I really wouldn't mind being an A cup. The struggle is real!

    In one of your recipes it calls for 3 tins of tomatoes for your soup. What measurement is that?
