Thank you for sharing! 💖 I feel like you explained the main point the best that 1. Caloric deficit=weight loss and 2. Swaps are helpful I want to add: 3. The healthy swaps = more volume of food for less calories and Junk vs. fruits/veggies = HUGE difference in our energy levels (feeling like crap/tired), stress, immunities, nutrition in general, etc.
Yes! This was video just inspired me not to drink alcohol until I am at my goal weight. I can't and I won't start over anymore. I am so ready to lose the weight and have my dream body. ✨️
Agree! I had this issue too and so far in over 2 months I have not even wanted to binge but mildly and it was easy enough to control for the first time in years! So glad I found her channel popped up in my feed as well! Good luck!
Ah Chelsea, I do look forward to your videos each week. Thank you so much for all the help I’ve gained from you over the last four years especially in transitioning from a omnivorous diet. Whilst I knew all the information from previous videos, I find it so helpful to have your guiding hand and inspiration.
I am so glad I found you! I have learned so much I am using in my life and it is working. I am 60 and have been dieting all my life I was on keto forever lost a ton of weight but it quit working and I was having trouble with blood sugar levels that wouldn't go down along with my weight. I started seeing things on RUclips that were talking about changing mindsets about eating fruits and veggies and cutting out fat so I started trying. This is when I came across your channel. I have to say I first stopped when I saw you after you had cooked something and were tasting your food. With a mouth full and saying how good it was caught my attention! Made me a believer on how good what you were eating lol and something so normal and funny about it. Im a fan! Following you has taught me so much! You talk in plain language easy to understand and i have learned so much about this way of eating. I have also found new food concoctions I LOVE! So thank you so much for what you are doing and keep it up! You are making a difference!
Right?! I’m 57 and a professional dieter most of my life. Finally! I feel calm about the whole eating thing and the weight is coming off slowly but I’m not gaining!!
I just listened to your podcast ‘ musing thoughts about success’ I didn’t know where to comment on the podcast but wanted to let you know for me this was amazing. You have such a gift on breaking things down. Thank you. 🤩
My first thought was, “Oh, this again” but I kept listening and then started to understand the more complexity of the issue and thought OH! So repetition is key and also, you had great visuals to explain it as well. I’m glad that I watched this video. I understand now, more so, that even though my daily was low, my Etoh use was causing an increase in my average to the point where I wasn’t losing, in fact, that is how I gained. I thought it didn’t matter as much, but clearly it does!
This video perfectly explained how to your body works in regards to weigh loss thank you. I love following you and I think it helps that you are from NZ, like me. Iv changed my eating to be more in line with you because it makes sense, it's easy and I am enjoying the food. I cook my tofu the same now, eat red kumara almost daily (had never tried it before), have introduced hummus, increased my veges, and food prep on a rolling basis (which is a game changer). I was already plant based and didn't need to lose any weight (maybe gain a bit) but now that I understand how food works because of your videos I have increased my portions, improved my food, and am feeling and looking the strongest I have ever been. Thank you so much. Am one very grateful fan.
I stumbled across your videos yesterday in search of a sustainable plan for losing weight. I am not vegan nor do I think I ever will be. However, I do believe that I need to be eating more whole foods and less processed foods. I went to the store on my way home from my family’s house yesterday and came home to cook up a bunch of potatoes, tofu, and veggies! I also ate oats, strawberries, flax, and a dollop of Greek yogurt this morning for breakfast! While I think my first round of prepping was a little overwhelming, I know I don’t have to do it again until I run out, which is a great feeling. Thank you for these videos and making weight loss feel actually attainable!
I think this is great! Sometimes people can get really black and white about diet. Of course meat eaters can also eat tofu and a high plant based diet.
Excellent! I eat some animal-based protein, too, but mostly plant-based, and I cut out all ultra-processed foods and added sugar. I will eat a treat now and then. I am 55, and this approach to eating keeps my weight where I want it, and I feel satiated. I eat 2000 calories a day to maintain my weight. I was vegan, but after menopause I discovered I needed a lot more protein than what the fully plant-based diet was providing me , but each person is unique and must learn what works best. ❤
Thought it is super helpful to get us to understand concepts, lovley job and thanku for your consistent videos! I appreciate and am motivated by that!❤❤
I love your videos. Although people may think it is complicated, it is not. Calorie density is real and the weight loss happens. I am working on consistency and simplicity. Thanks for the awesome content.
When I have a busy week/month I do not take great care of my food intake. I might eat a great breakfast but after that I just snack myself through the day, grazing almost without a meal that would keep me satiated, steady energy levels to remain focused. Becoming hungry after work stresses me out when I have no plan, so I might just have these terrible girl diners and call it a day. Gained weight slowly over the past 2 years and became skinny fat. I am now prepping batches of veg, tempeh and tofu so I know I always have something in my fridge. That idea keeps me calm. Thanks to your videos I have learned so much and this is another great one!!
Loved this video, it really hammered home the truth about losing weight. The long and short of it is you have to be continually consistent to get results ie, be eating less than your body requires so its forced to go to your own fat store to offset the defecit you have created! Also love the idea of having slightly higher daily calories so you don't feel the need to go mad at the weekend! X
Chelsea, I have been following you for quite a while and the growth I see in you is amazing! Thank you sooo much for posting the science behind weight loss. It is so helpful!
One of my favourite videos is when you explained calorie density using circles and what the calorie count would look like if you added a pound or two of veggies. I don’t know if I will ever be able to commit fully to veganism, but I think it’s fairly doable for most people to eat more plants and less processed food. Also, for anyone starting out, I recommend using a scale, a tape measure, progress photos and an awareness of your physical capabilities. There have been MANY times over the years when the scale showed nothing, but I was making major strides in strength. In fact, I’ve lost nothing in the last couple of months but have continued to lift heavier weights and increase my stamina and agility. Being able to tackle a new exercise/movement is its own reward
I started veganising meals because The BOSH boys had a series each week in 2020. Before I knew it, I was flexitarian and then vegan. We do the least restrictive diet we can. I am now sugar-,oil-,alchohol-free. Limit refined processed foods. Give yourself grace.
Thanks for always providing such great information and motivation! Maybe you could also speak more about the hormonal impact of the different macronutrients (under the not all calories are equal umbrella). I’ve leaned a lot from Dr Jason Fung about this and the portion of the energy equation where our body reduces the expenditure in order to match the reduced intake. Our bodies are so smart! I’ve learned so much from you about habits, consistency and how important is to try to make things easy. Keep rocking!
Another awesome video Chelsea and my weight constantly went up and down before I became vegan and since then that hasn't happened. Because I view vegan whole plant foods as a lifestyle it doesn't have the issues with diets. Love 🥰 the video and love 💞 Chelsea.
Chelsea girl, I know you’ve talked about this ad nauseam. But, you are totally helping this Grammy with every new angle you present. You had me at “saving for a rainy day or zombie apocalypse” 😂 You could always take us outside for a walk and get a change of scenery, if YOU need variety. Lol Otherwise, keep going because you are instrumental in helping us restore our sanity and health ❤
Ahhhhhh 💡moment ! I do good most days but probably not so great on weekends ie hot chips, dark chocolate and dark chocolate, hot chips. Didnt think of the weekly total of calories. DOH 🤦
Exercise only makes up a small amount of the calories you burn so it will make some difference but not a lot of difference. You can calculate an estimate of your resting metabolic rate by googling RMR and putting in your sex, weight and height. And your daily caloric expenditure will be a bit more than that because even if you're not exercising unless you're bedridden you're still having some movement throughout your day, so guess a number a bit higher than your BMR. Then you could test how accurate the estimate is by eating that many calories everyday for a month, if after a month you have lost weight your guess was too low and if you have gained weight your guess was too high. If you're looking to lose weight you probably wont mind if your guess was lower than what you actually burn.
This could be due to your stress levels. Drink hot water instead of cold water, exercise and change your veggies. Keeping a food diary is also very helpful
@ I heard so many people testifying about being vegan makes them sick after a few years. Other’s like sandy Norton talk about the side effects of oxolate is also terrible after few years.
@@jardy348I did answer your question yesterday but now I see the answer was suppressed.. second try… people testifying being very sick after a few years because of beings vegan, also sally Norton talks about oxolate in her last book. The fact that she suppressed my answer made me think a lot more.

Did you learn anything from this video and do you like this style of video? Let me know 😀
I understood and I listened to the whole thing
I did not pay attention to the visuals
yes, it's about consistency, maintaining the deficit every single day!
LOVE it! Can you talk about hitting plateaus next? And how to calculate how much you should exercise vs eat? Thanks!
Love this style video because there is so much important information here coming from that amazing brain of yours!
Thank you for sharing! 💖

As a current (hopefully former) all-or-nothing binger, I’m so relieved to have your videos pop up on my feed! Gratitude from Austin, Texas ❤️

How can I get rid of lazy massive calorie excess days ?
Incredibly helpful ❤
I started a diet two years ago, but I have to eat more to avoid binge eating. I have to just find the right point to still lose weight.
What is this whiteboard you’re using?!
Ahhhhhh 💡moment !
I do good most days but probably not so great on weekends ie hot chips, dark chocolate and dark chocolate, hot chips.

How would you modify this if you were unable to exercise? Dial the calories down to almost nothing?
Exercise only makes up a small amount of the calories you burn so it will make some difference but not a lot of difference. @ very helpful, thank you
I understand stand this it's just the hole idea and ability to stick to lover calories or walking evey day forever seems to be the problem
More math with Chelsea! :D
I eat like you but always constipated 😢 so frustrating
This could be due to your stress levels. Drink hot water instead of cold water, exercise and change your veggies. Keeping a food diary is also very helpful
I find protein does that to me. I have the opposite effect with the veg
Two tablespoons of ground flax seeds a day mixed into your food will work wonders. And/or three dried apricots!
💯✊😊
You are leading people to the wrong direction 👎🏼
