- Rejections are dreadful. We are often embarrassed, frightened and lost in shame and blame. But this week - and via request - we 'face' rejections. We create a methodology to not only survive and manage, but thrive and improve our professional and personal lives - through facing rejections.
Happy New Year, Tara! Just wanted you to know how wonderful you are as another human who inspire people like me from around the world. You are a blessing to this world., indeed. You rock! Thank you for all you do.
Oh mate - thank you so much. Together - we will survive. Together - we will thrive. We've got this :) txxx
These are great tips Professor Tara. Thank you! ❤
My absolute pleasure, Kat. You take care of yourself!!!! txxx
Hi Tara, I hope you and Jamie found a fond way to celebrate Steve's birthday today (Sunday). You offer some great tips on how to handle rejection which is very enlightening in this day and age. Looking forward to next week's Post. cheers, doug
Good on you Doug. And yep - let's see how 'Academic emotion' goes! Fascinating research... txxx
Happy New Year Tara. Very valuable tips and framing of this topic. Thanks!
Thank you so much, Margaret!!!!! All my hopes to you for the year. txxx
Dear Tara, that’s the best “New Year-resolutions/
Old Year-conclusions” video (and a genuine personal Christmas gift) for me. I’m profoundly grateful for this unique “manual” for those facing-rejection Jedi of the academic universe! 🙏
Especially big shout outs for this psychologically dense approach You took in this post!! 🎉 Resonated a lot! (Applause from Alexandra)
My pleasure AiA. I really enjoyed doing the research for this one. Your focus created the emphasis on methodology - how to approach rejection. Transformative approach - because of you. All my love. You are AMAZING. Thank you for everything. Together - we've got this :) txxx
Dear Tara, I’m so happy You allow for this dialogue with the-others-out-there, not only Your students. Your channel here truly makes a HUGE difference: it humanises our IT-isolated academic lives ❤ I feel that it is characteristic to Your professional approach in general, not just here on RUclips. Thank You so much for the effort of bridging the gaps in our disconnected academic lives 🙏 Looking forward for the next Posts and, who knows: maybe one day You will include also Your students in these videos, in a way of a dialogue/ conference? Thank You!!!
Hello Tara, your videos have been very helpful to me. Thank you so much and happy new year😊
Thank you so much, DD. Thank you for your ongoing support. You let me know about any ideas or topics that will be useful to you. Love to be of service. All my hopes - straight to you. txxx
@@TaraBrabazonChannel Thank you, Tara. Please, if it is possible, could you create a video on how to do a PhD while working full time? Doing it part-time seems like a possible option but part-time PhD takes 6 to 7 years to complete and all the references/bibliography will be too old and the person may lose motivation. I would like to know how a full-time worker can complete a full-time PhD, and also how to do same part-time.
Thank you so much, Tara.
You have provided me with very valuable information and heavily contributed to my professional development.
I will resume with finding ways to leave the tent during the following months, while better understanding the power dynamics around me & understanding how important it is to separate private life with public life.
I wish you a very happy New Year!
I am with you mate. Just centre yourself. Remember your value. And create those conscious separations. You are AMAZING. And we deserve to read your incredible work. txxx
@TaraBrabazonChannel Thank you so much for your wisdom
Really looking forward to the next one now, sounds big
Hi Tara, hope you're doing well 😊,
I have a question please. I'm a doctor in industrial engineering, and I have just 5 papers published in scopus journal. For 2025, many conferences are available in my country Morocco, all these conferences will be published in books indexed Scopus Q4, mostly springer. I want to elevate my level of publication to be selected for job interview as a lecturer. I would like to write 5 to 6 articles journal indexed Q1 or Q2 during 2025, and maybe just 7 to 9 of those conferences paper that may be published before the articles. Is that an issue to have many conference papers Q4, is that an issue to have more conference papers than article journal in an academic CV for a lecturer job selection? Thanks in advance.
Wow 5 to 6 papers in 1 year how do you do that?? If one research study primary research makes 1 or 2 publication how you collect and write up so many studies in 1 year? I hope to be so productive too
Hi Lea - so lovely to hear from you! And Lea, my target is always write 10 articles a year. Now - 10 research outputs - diverse modality. And I just do it by getting up in the morning - and working the plan - working the whiteboard. I've been distributing my notes through two articles and two books that are my first tasks between now and the beginning of March. So - careful planning - get up and work. And these pieces are written by me. I'm not a ghost author - or 'added' to articles. My work. You can do it. Promise. Just make a decision - today - to work :) txxx
@@TaraBrabazonChannel Thank you very for responding and great advice provided in these videos. Unfortunately until now publications were outside my control as PHD candidate due to permission to publish needed from the PI who decided order in which candidates in research group will publish. I did not gain such permission as my outcomes were deemed low priority for publication (not by me I believe in the importance of my work, but by PI).
To other candidates reading : joining large research group with many students and total control by PI may mean your publishing independence is restricted and slow down publication rate compared to your peers which creates more stress in academic job market.
Now moving forward from PHD I will investigate publishing research in diverse forms as suggested by Tara and make the decision to take ownership and get up early and work for myself!
Hi Tara, may I request for a phd to post doc transition? Skills, interview etc etc. Thanks!
And done - thanks for being you :) txxx
I was rejected because supervisors knew I had anxiety/ADHD disorders
That very sad I’m sorry
Is that even legal? Which position was it for?
@@Mari-zr1vlI’m a PhD student. They threw everything in academic grounds over my progress.
