Beautiful and what an amazing paint color!!!
Price is all based on nostalgia. No performance, handling or quality in the build. Decently reliable engine, that will outlive all other components on the car. 💙✌️
Thank you for summarizing the entire classic car market.
Are you kidding? They were the best handling car in its day outside a C4 only these werent rattletraps.
Drove tons of these new never experienced issues on these.
Get some 3.42s a good launch and you might just see a low 14 sec quarter if not better.
@@gordocarbo yeah I owned a 3rd gen and these things were so light and handled pretty damn well. I used to rip through corners at crazy speeds and the balance always impressed me.
Im so bummed I missed this 🥲, congrats to the new owner
The tires need to be changed, if it is to be driven at all.
Yeah..but 60 grand??
Pretty steep!! Nice car and all but thats a super nice C2 vette price
@@gordocarbo ANYBODY who would pay that is crazy.
IKR!
@@jc940 Translate please?
IROCs will be more expensive in time.
Dream spec @adamspitfire
Minty
Nice and clean. 👌 One of my favorite colors.
I had a 1987 Iroc with the 5.7. First year for the 5.7 but had to get it in an automatic. Bought mine new. It was loaded except the package tray screen thing. Had T-tops and the Bose stereo system with leather seats. Bought brand new and traded it in 1990 with 3000 miles on it.. Fun car. My sticker was about $22,000 IIRC
Nice!! Drove a number of them brand new they were solid cars and could handle like nothing Id ever driven before. Only thing taht handled as well was a C4. Great looking car, even stock the exh note was outstanding
Price??
59,995
@ramkidd123 that's bananas
@@chumps7974 THat is an insane over the top crackpipe price. SOmeone got took!
Id gladly pay teens up to 19k. Gorgeous car they have a following but its not a 69 Z28.
Gorgeous! I'm 15 again!
Original tires, not really a good thing 😉
Beautiful beautiful car and I owned a 1988 Trans Am GTA with the 5.7.
I have a dream of finding another one over the next few years and restoring it and just starting the old ride down memory lane if you will 🔆💫
Thanks for the ride down nostalgia boulevard! 💯
Need to ask what this was listed for? Wanting to buy a similar one real soon here
Those tires have cords seaprating can hear the trammeling over the vid. Had a tire unravel the whole tread in one revolution test driving a truck few yrs ago. Tires were 9 yrs old lucky I heard it about to happened and slowed down. 15 mph.
THat could destroy a quarter panel or cause a wreck
Hope whoever buys this throw them in the trash where it belongs, driving slow wont prevent failure.
First thing Id do is remove the 305 drop a 350 in smog legal AFR 180 and port a tpi system as I have many, small tq cam.
3.45 if it didnt already have them. Easy 13 sec daily that can pass Ca emissions
I like it
I found this car for $9k 14k miles.
I had a black one that I picked up used in the early 90s. I hate that I sold it
God these cars have gone up in value lately..Jesus 60k the fucker was 18-19 new! I had this exact year car but black/black 305 5/speed with gold rim and stripe s…bought it used in 1991 with 42,000 miles on it for $7000…want another for nostalgia reasons and I want a mint one that’s not ragged out but they are like 30-60k now
Overpriced for sure. I almost bought the same Z 5 spd back then had 9k miles on it...perfect for 8500 .
Those drove crazy nice back in the day they really handled well.
I believe that they will eventually go down again. We gotta be patient.
@@500erider This car makes me miss my 1984 cherry red Z28 (L-69 H.O. version). Bought it new with a 5 speed back in 1984. I miss that car everyday. But even with super low miles, there's NO WAY I would pay 60K lol
Stunning fantastic classic Chevy Camaro IROC Z ( McKenzie ) you made a mistake at the beginning of this video, you said 90, 000, instead of 9000, lol we are cool bro. love & enjoy this review as all the rest.
Manual tune port?
😎😎😎
I just learned there were 2 tpi 305s available with manuals. One was 25hp more than the other with a lower 5th gear and 3.45 LSD. Give me that in Yellow Gold and t tops👌🏻
Friend has that exact combo. Helped him restore it about 12 yrs ago. Built a smog legal 350 that smokes the tires in 1st right through 2nd. Ca legal for smog too.
Believe the higher horsepower 305 was manual only and the auto 305 was like 25:hp lower … the 5 speed was 215 the auto 190…the 350 auto only was 225 in 87’ …these engines topped out in 90’ 230hp 305 5 speed only… 210 auto 305 and 245 for 350
Value can only go up.
❤
To bad it’s a 305. One of the worst engines Chevrolet ever made. Weak head gasket issues.
Ummm... Never heard of head gasket issues with the 305
Never heard of that where did you get your info from?
Used to do warranty work on those new never saw one with a bad head gasket
Lol, who's giving you info, Mother Goose?
There was no issue with the 305 motor, nor the head gasket itself. The issue was you couldn't find gaskets with the thickness GM claimed to have used.
Rumor was they had been pulling composite steel core gaskets from the trucks bin. You couldn't go out and find "spec" thickness gaskets anywhere ... except by ordering them thru GM or do some shim work.
Just like the crappy paint work you got on the Camaro/Firebird/Trans Am back then. Those came from the Van Nuys, CA plant. The cars built at the Norwood, OH plant was 10x's better. Sad part was GM closed it at the end of the '87 model year run.
If your car came from the Norwood, OH plant the paint was WAY better.
Been Chevrolet'ing wrenching since 1985.
@@donnis618 Me either, and I'm over a half century old. Chevrolet used the 305 for more than 20 years. Don't think it would have made it that long, if it were prone to failure. Ironically, they actually took one hell of a beating, and kept running. Most people who had a Camaro with one it it, drove the living piss out of them. The weak rear ends were more prone to failure, than the engines ever were.
Makes me feel Italian for cruising.
