I *love* how the game does this!
Even when it affects gameplay in a major way, I just can't help but love how the game properly models these things (and it's particularly important when it comes to terrain, which is SO much more meaningful here than in most other RTS games)
I recently had a 1v1 where the entire game was pretty much decided by a single stray shot:

A *LOBO* managed to hit an early ghetto gunship, nuking the aircraft *and* its entire crew in 1, 1-in-a-million shot!
I mean, you can't even be mad! You just have to applaud the game devs, and the virtual gunner of said artillery superstars!

I think Geralt should have forgotten about the forward base and attacked everything else about 10-15 minutes earlier than he did. He focused way too much effort on trying to crack that base that just went nowhere.
16:37 about half a second or less after, on the bottom right quarter of the screen, an Inti flies directly into the path of one of the mobile missile launcher's missiles and goes boom! What a shot!
This was amazing. Felt like it was anyone's game for nearly the whole duration.

I'm guessing a shocking turnaround from the start of this game, where Electrician bolts ahead to victory.
Geralt now is 1572 1v1 rated ladder. Gg boy
Geralt has been going around cleaning up but done nothing to fortify the area in his wake. sure the original base of Electrician was gone but everything else he just rebuilt right away one Geralt's forces moved on. Little to nothing done to actually keep any area other than his primary base.

The distance to the chokepoint for the right-hand side (and left-hand for top) looks a bit shorter than the opposite.
In addition, the ACU being a fairly slow unit may explain the pattern.

Geralt needs to work on his micro tactics such as shield deployments which are force multipliers especially in FOB vs FOB and like gyle said using the fire power of spam to buy to time for your fire base deployment and construction
Intelligence is only useful if you can respond quickly and decisively or for an offensive strike. Otherwise use defensive emplacements or units. Because it has a short shelf life.

20:55 If I was to suggest anything to Geralt it would be focus on micro when engaging at the front especially base wars. Shields are force multipliers, always always always have some kind of defense for your core resources. Whether it’s point defense with static AA or even counter interceptors and bombers in 1v1 any amount of damage to your economy can be pounced on no matter how good your economy micro is you can’t build Econ and apply pressure simultaneously once that happens. Electrician saw the minimum mistakes but pushed on those mistakes exasperating to the point of failure. Early game was very much in Geralt favor but failed to capitalize on his initial success and/or electrician failure to solidify his economy. There was ample opportunity to push on the weaknesses of the East and center flank that Geralt did not attack instead allowing the minor pressure coming from the west which could’ve been stifled by half the force with the rest of his spam to stretch defenses. Hopefully he learns from this game and cast.
Also either player could have one by going T2 Air I feel

13:40, Geralt has a significant mass advantage and more efficient usage of it, but is at significant positional disadvantage despite that. Economic disadvantage can be overcome on a map this small, strategic deficit is far more difficult to deal with. Calling electrician will win.
That game stressed me out way to much Geralt could have ended so many times but was either lacking intel or confidence

The lack of spy planes and radar is honestly wild to me. First Geralt just opens his front door and invites in the enemy, loses nearly all his mexes and then he keeps his entire mobile army in a stationary defencive position facing another equally static position while his opponent teabags all his mass points. Then it takes him 5 more minutes to consider relocating those forces when that entire time all he had to do was run around the position and march right into his opponents utterly unguarded base, no units, no defences, all the man needs SURELY is one T1 spy plane to see how this is a gaping void in his opponents strategy. But nope. That'd be the optimal play but even still he could have used the army to secure the mass points he'd lost and he didn't even do that, he somehow chose the absolute worst play. When he finally got the intel at least he corrected his mistake but it was minutes too late and the enemy had percival spam to defend. Even then the base was only defended by 3 percivals and he didn't push in to kill the threat first, focusing the eco and taking extra losses. Just kill the percivals and the base is wide open. Look at the map at 30:51 and ask yourself how free this game is for Geralt in this moment if he had 20 more tanks and there were no percivals. I think Geralt may be allergic to his own mass points as well, like 15 minutes without his Southern 3, guarded by only 2 T1 tanks. Literally abandons it for so long his opponent builds a base there...

Open palms is *such* a great map. It's seldom wonder it's popular after all these years! The pillars sitting round the back of Geralt's base is very typical, and a wonderful part of the huge amount of interaction between the players that palms forces. I love how it was mirrored towards the end - both players were sitting on MEX points at the furthest corner, opposite their starting point! :D
I don't think Geralt could have won by pushing Electrician's commander btw... It is *so* important that most units (LABs and ACUs excluded) cannot keep moving forwards *and* focus fire a commander if it's not the only target.
(IE Electrician's commander can just dance away from the tanks at near max range, safe in the knowledge that the tanks will be shredded by PD fire if they try to focus.)
**I'm very much a 1v1 player who loses SO many games she should be winning by trying to attack ACUs in similar situations!!!**

[I just checked the replay - Geralt's forces were doing a *wonderful* job of shooting Electrician's commander up at the start of that engagement while Geralt's tanks were moving in (which is pretty rare, they are supposed to focus point defenses and units!). Then Geralt *did* target Electrician's commander specifically once it was down to 50% health or so... So, Geralt tried; the ACU just walked away and let the point defense clean up!
It is handy to use the advanced target priority mod. You can set your units to target the ACU whilst moving forward.
@@rigomatezoltan4302 Not quite - most units cannot prioritise an ACU automatically (this is done for balance reasons, to allow an army or base to 'protect' their retreating ACU). LABs *can*, as can gunships and ACUs, but most other units cannot, including T1 tanks/mantis, T2 tanks, T3 bots etc etc.
Basically, if you want to shoot the ACU with your land army, you have to either 1) Stop moving via a direct attack-click, 2) Have the ACU as the only available target, or 3) Have your own ACU do it!
(Also, the basic functionality of that mod is built into FaF these days - you don't need the mod to be able to press 'f1' to have all selected units prioritise whatever is under your cursor. The mod just gives you the 'extra' features of making your own priority lists etc. It doesn't allow units to prioritise an ACU that aren't allowed to do so, though.)
That's why Geralt right-clicked Electrician's ACU here - to force attack with units that aren't allowed to prioritise an ACU , and it failed since the units had to stop moving, allowing the ACU to get away!
(These situations are always pretty tricky tbh - I lose SO many games from misjudging whether an ACU can or can't escape! And it get's even harder when they get a crucial levelup!)
Still, I'm with you that learning about priorities is important - It's amazing just how many tactics go into basic unit control in supcom, what with turrets and formations and priorities and what not! Priorities are just not useful in this particular situation!

Classic mistake made in every RTS game. "Oh he's got a fortified base over here? I better go attack it!!". I can't help but wonder how the game might have turned out differently if Geralt had ceded progress (or just stopped trying to make headway) on the western front, and instead focused on reclaiming some map and territory control.
If your opponent bunkers down you don't just throw away your forces trying to break their defenses. You out-expand them a little and scale up your economy so you can turn around and break them with superior tech + forces.
Neither player had energy storage...
