I'm sure there's plenty of people that love the 4v4+ games, but I really enjoy the 1v1 and 2v2 games. Easier to follow what individual players are doing and try to learn from it. Thanks for the content, Gyle!
I prefer 4v4 (and higher players count) way more. I just love that chaos, something always keeps happening and games feel more diverse. But yea, smaller battles are definitely better for learning, its hard to follow what each player does at same time.
I love how Gyle was just gushing on how cool this map looks, and yet the first 25 seconds we had both teams agreeing they felt it was a shit map. I'm with gyle, it looks so cool.
@@Jousten16 I think the navy matters quite a bit on this map, but both teams simply went more for air because of the prolonged battle for the upper left corner.
Navy matters alot because there were lots of 4-clusters of mexes along it's shore. If the navy battle takes place on your half the other team will have significantly more income. It my looks like nothing happens but actually this has more impact than on Setons where you basically have no gain until you finally won the entire pond.
so...been watching some of Gyle's older videos and....to show how new i am to his channel, i'm surprised to see that Machinima logo. nostalgia there xD
I don't understand it why teams that are ahead throw games cause they don't build shields, AA or radars. Like Amygdala, there was no ground defense to north. Or the completely unshielded air grid from his team mate.
Maybe the were ahead BECAUSE they didn't build defense? At some point you need to secure your advantage but without full vision of the entire map and so many things to do you might just miss it. This map looks very taxing to me, you need all three of air, navy and land, there are many possible fronts and places to drop and it was a 2vs2 (it looks like a 4v4).
It’s called rushing a build and focusing on offense. Turtling costs a lot of rss that could be used for offensive units. How little you can get away with to funnel rss elsewhere
keli and Amygdala were on verge of the victory, but they underestimated the importance of air dominance. The thing is, you could have powerful ground army, unrival navy, but... if you sky isn't under your control, all that will be in vain. Air dominance is crucial
what I wonder is why team 2, that already lost at least 2 air battles over the land connection on the left side and also had ocassionally ground troops running along there never decided to build up a defense line...
Why do people send massive groups of T3 units with little or no AA, the push around @30:00 was painful, first the turning around of loyals right outside main base then them getting destroyed by a handful of gunships...
14:13 - I guess it is bad getting killed on the toilet... but what about doing the killing while on the toilet? That's what I did during a field training exercise in Ft. Irwin long, LONG ago. I took my milk-crate makeshift toilet up the side of a ridge to hunker down and drop a nuke behind a boulder. While I was there I saw an enemy armored vehicle - a converted HMMV that was supposed to look Soviet. So, hiding behind my rock, pants around my knees, I capped the gunner. He disappeared into the vehicle, his 'laser tag' gear wailing a fit. Then the vehicle commander peeked up, looking around as the vehicle crawled to a stop. When he stood up just a bit too far I capped him and his laser tag gear pitched a fit. The vehicle began reversing to turn around giving me a prime view of the driver and I took a few shots to finally get him, too. Technically, since the entire crew were 'dead' they were supposed to just sit there... but they drove off. I *really* wanted to get my hands on their secure comms (CEOI) books. Because my pale backside was hanging in the breeze with my pants around my knees I couldn't get close enough to capture the vehicle. The commander, at the driver's direction, spotted me now standing, naked from waist to knees, from my 'toilet' and from 100 meters away I could hear him laughing.
Gyle! I rarely comment on anything. Here's to the RUclips algorithm. Keep making the good vids. I've been watching since Machinima or whatever it was. Still watching today. Always fun.
Gyle you REALLY need the strategic icons lite ui mod. It adds only an outline around the TML, TMD, nuke, nuke defense, and radars, making them SO MUCH easier to spot. No other icons changes, so you don't have to learn a new set of icons.
The high mountain bomber issue should stay in game as it either offers a tactical advantage/disadvantage. Isnt that part of RTS's? Figuring out the best tactics to win?
Not sure, did you see that they didn't really have an answer for the incoming Monkey? And it was only a matter of time until their navy with 8 or so battleships would have rolled over them.
@@Jousten16 I did see that at that moment they didn't... but I believe they had t3 factory in bottom right base, and Monkey Lord is no GC, can be dealt with much more easily

Dang, if Conorac went for bomber spam instead of that T3 artillery he could've gotten all the blue novax's taken care of before they wiped so much out.
Did team 2 try to build a game ender or where did all their mass go? Yes the novacs aren't cheap, but team 1 built 2 arties and some novacs too. It just felt like suddenly team 1 had everything. Ground, sea and air.
Team two had Sea, moved way too slow with it. Had even air, lost it. Had ground, kept doing bad attacks. Several badly aimed nukes. The Novacs did ok but those act slowly. Team one simply ground themselves forward slowly are rarely with any waste until everything came together. They also used an actual plan, once they won air they sent experimentals down a known safe route that would guarantee a win.
@@ShimmeringSword even if they had have just taken the mass from the two Novak's that they managed to down and thrown out into either air, or even just static defence on the left flank they could have held. But you're right, they were just too slow to follow up on any of their (Many) advantages.
@@ShimmeringSword The novacs wrecked. It's hard to ask any better. The t3 naval fight is static in position for a while, but team 1 gets more and more of an advantage, which suggests they spend more on navy. Both teams are sending ground forces up and down the side and getting taken out by enemy gunships. Team 1 takes the corner late and is investing a lot in infrastructure there while team 2 already had their corner and doesn't need to invest more. Of course an air fight can always go bad and it can hurt when the enemy uses it, but when the bugs are launched they had already won the match. They were not that decisive. On top of that team 2 had greater mass income for large portions of the end game.
@@Hedning1390 the novacs did do really well, but that was neutralized by the team one novacs doing almost as much damage because team 2 didn't shield their air factory / energy array. Team one did eventually win Navy, but it seems like a consistent issue in these games where one side clearly wins the t1/t2 naval battle but instead of rushing in full steam they slowly inch up, and as you mention in that time the enemy can make t3 ships. There was a period where team two could have pushed over the first few t3 but the chose not to. Result would have been all coastal bases dying and air movement being restricted. I wouldn't call the game a throw, but definitely one where one side seized opportunities while the other didn't. Fundamental gameplay skills were otherwise good.

Hey Gyle not sure if you plan to focus only on FaF casting but Total War Warhammer multiplayer could use a new good caster. 4v4+ for cinematic large-scale chaotic battles (Which looks absolutely sick), and 1v1 or 2v2 for learning for me.
All to their own tastes

Yeah everybody seems to like those maps with very clearly divided sides of the map for each team rather than something that looks interesting.
I was soooo hoping we would get big navy battles but sadly it didn't matter much.
