  • Let’s dive into the world of low profile choc V1 switch types and sub out some of the stock ones in a Junk Food Snack Box Micro. There are several different varieties of switches and in this video, we examine 14 different ones. Sunset? Dark yellow? Robin? All accounted for, plus a ton more ready to try. The amount of customization is great, and there is surely a perfect switch out there for you! Let us know your favorite in the comments below! And huge thanks to my fellow fightstick enthusiast: ShaperDreaming! They have a huge passion for switches and were instrumental in the making of this video. Thanks again!

      they are interchangeable. Gateron uses the same pin style of switch just like Kailh and Cherry they are the same keyboard switches that are used in PC keyboards. Mainly just look and the pin style but some boards require soldering and aren't hot swappable.

      All in all, dang I like it. I went for a 2023 one piece case because I don’t care for artwork and the material (polycarbonate) should be a bit stronger and well… It’s great. It feels premium to me.
      I had a victrix but sold it immediately. It was good but too bulky/loud for me. (Also no seperate l3/r3 buttons)
      Also.. I dunno why but in my mind the Snackbox felt smaller. So when I just unpacked it I was like huh.. Not as small as I expected. Really worried for a bit if I should have gone for the XL instead but normal size works for me.

    People should probably be aware that they don't really make the blues anymore, and now they are called Purpz. Not sure why they changed it, but they are functionally identical in terms of actuation force.
    I personally like to use Blues/Purpz for the left/down/right directionals, and for the the outer buttons that I use my pinky and ring finger for. I find the lighter force is helpful for my weaker fingers to press quickly. Otherwise I like the stock reds for the other buttons as I can rest my fingers on them without getting accidental presses.

    • @kdb424

      I have another video on making an all-button controller on this channel. You could do that and dial in the perfect layout for yourself with cardboard or something before you built (and if you hated it, nearly all of the materials could be used in a traditional joystick build). If assembling isn't your bag, then there are a couple other videos on the Snack Box Micro and its cousin, the XL, on this channel. I've got a vid coming next week that will shine a light on another type, but in the meantime, you can look into Snack Box Micros, MPress controllers, Hitboxes, and Flatboxes. Those are some main ones to research for your starting point and we can go from there once you find the one that most speaks to you. Good luck on the switch from joystick to all-button. Don't give up too soon because it may take a couple weeks to build up some new muscle memory.

      Thanks! Yeah, dark yellows are great. I've tried tactile but they always feel too "keyboardy" and not "fightsticky" enough. I'm sure that makes no sense, but I guess I just prefer linears for fightstick stuff. On paper the burnt orange seem pretty good, but they felt meh to me. Maybe if I properly lubed them, they would leave a stronger impression. They were okay but not enough so that I would give up on my linear dark yellows. Anyway, thanks for watching!

    Are these more or less expensive than traditional arcade buttons, and do people seem to prefer these now or is it just an alternative? These definitely seem like they would allow for a far thinner housing at the very least.

    • @HushMySweet1
      @HushMySweet1  Год назад +3

      They are a newer option, but aren't interchangeable with all buttons. You've got to go with Gamer Finger or Crown to be able to swap switches (and even then, they won't be low profile ones like this). It's another option to consider to help dial in that perfect though.

      @@HushMySweet1 really? And they come in a decently short amount of time? I’ve been prototyping some 3D printed leverless sticks that I ultimately want to sell, so having 35 switches wouldn’t be bad. I’ve been using Gateron low profiles so far.

      @HushMySweet1  Год назад

      @@maycoed7874 I have some browns in one of my sticks. I think they are fine. Pretty quiet, but not quite as quiet as switches in the linear category (because brown is a tactile style). Your earlier comment seemed to imply you wanted a bit lower operative force on your buttons. The sunsets are very similar to brown but activate with 10gf less. They are very similar to brown and might also be up your alley.

    • @HushMySweet1
      @HushMySweet1  Год назад

      @@maycoed7874 They are a solid option for sure. There's a reason why they are the standard for a lot of these companies. JFA uses them as the default option and Mavercade has the option for either red or blue, but the red outsells the blue in a ratio of 4 to 1. So I'm gonna say most people really enjoy them. They are easy to change if you ever need to tweak it down the road, but they are a good middle ground in terms of actuation force, plus they are linear which I prefer (in fighting games) over the other switch types. Good luck.

      @HushMySweet1  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hey, thanks! I'm not sure how much shipping would be since I'm in the US. Also, the Micro is a Junk Food Arcade product, but there are other options. Have you seen the video where I put together a Flatbox? If you can source the PCB and 3d-printed enclosure/keycaps (and 12 switches and a USB-C cable), you can put one together much cheaper than me trying to act as a middleman. If you're committed to having someone else build it, then you can get a Bridget from SGF for a hundred bucks USD, and they restock every Saturday. You also have Mavercade up there in Canada and they make super cool controllers. So, try all those options first! Thank you for watching!

    I think some people swapping switches and all this craziness are chasing imaginary performance gains. I understand having a preference for how they feel but your switches aren't holding you back unless they literally don't work.
