you are the best teacher i have seen ever, and i have seen a lot.thankyou so much for taking the time to make your video.i will turn everyone i know, onto your lessons.
Fantastic tutorial. I'm not even familiar with the original but looked for the middle riff after hearing someone play it in an amp demo..... Your teaching style is among the best. Very clear, easy to see your finger positions, and the pace is perfect.
Dude I love your style of teaching. I have been playing guitar all through the 80s. Learned all the shredder stuff but u hear things I don't. Great lesson.
That was really nice 💝 Thank you so much for your time and your lessons bro...Will practice in my basement later on...and try those chords...Cheers 👍👍👍
Cheers....thanks for posting this and the teaching style is great too. Much easier to follow. Also allows the player to add his or her own color to this EPIC song.
Good lesson. BTW, the "pinch harmonic" is not an 80's thing, though it was used quite a bit. The player that I learned it from was Billy Gibbons of ZZTop. He used pinch harmonics all the time and tastefully done too. The pinch harmonic hasn't left us cause modern metal players use it all the time with chunky drop D tuning. Zak Wylde OVER uses it quite a bit. It's become de rigueur with metal players.
Is this a version that's meant to be in the beginner to intermediate range? Not wanting to criticize, your playing is great and technique is well honed, but it's definitely not accurate as it was recorded. Again, not criticizing. Just didn't know if this was a beginner/intermediate level tutorial or not. Keep up the great playing. I can tell you are holding back a bit is why I was asking.
I have to concur my friend it is indeed wrong. This shows it how it should be: Still Of The Night Guitar Lesson Pt.1 - Whitesnake - Intro, Verse & Main Riff
Can anyone help me understand how the amp is setup here (and which pedals/effects he's using). I can hear reverb, maybe some compression, but I can't really tell
It's a mix of reverb with a touch of delay, mixed way back and with just a very short delay time. Sometimes called "slap-back". You should really only be subconsciously aware of it until you stop playing. I use a Line6 Spider IV and that's my main rhythm setting. I have other clones of my rhythm setting with the delay mixed at a higher percentage and with more delay time for sort of a "Brian May-ish" sound, but in this case, it's a case of "less is more".
Glad to help..I used to do the pedal dance until I looked into Line6. While the first week after unboxing was time-consuming, I created 12 user patches from banks 02-04. Now have settings that are like turning delay and distortion on and then going to distortion and delay off and chorus on in one step. 2/A-B-C-D are all clean with chorus, reverb and delay and the only difference is how long the delay is set out to. Then 3/A and 3/B are clean with reverb and A is with flanger and B is my main clean-chorus and reverb no delay unless I hit the delay button. 3/B and 3/C are distortion rhythm and distortion lead with heavier reverb on lead and a longer delay if I hit the delay button on the pedal. then 3/A-B-C-D- are my main rhythm distortion cloned with A and B being more prominent delay at two different delay lengths and C and D are my main rhythm distortion with C being with phaser and D being with flanger. Multi-effects amps are the way to go if you don't want a bunch of brands of pedals with questionable compatibility. Plus, I also have a Roland GR-09 pedal synthesizer so I've got enough tap-dancing as it is! :P
Hey Mahalo! I don't know tabs but when others talk telling fret numbers etc they sound burnt out compared to you. Constantly hesitating and half stuttering trying to think instead of just playing the riff slowly. Your teachings are not annoying like so many others. Thanks for the lesson! I appreciate the others as well but they do annoy me at times. LoL Especially Marty Swartz as he talks way too much and half the time he isn't playing it exactly right.
Read more from bad tab. The riff actually starts on the 4th fret of the A string: 4 3 4 0 3 2 0 2 0 then to the 6th string: 2 0 Sites like this aren't completely worthless but never trust anyone trying so hard to look like a "Rock Guy." Back in my day we called them "posers." And you are much better off learning songs by ear than you are trusting people on the Internet (myself included.) Learn what you can from youtube but if you think you can do better, you're probably right.
Play the whole piece first! Show people what they are in store for. Good lesson, just remember to always play first, explain second. Otherwise, you lose 90% of your audience.

Great job! Thanks for simplifying over other lessons/tabs I've seen. Good stuff!
Great lesson. I play by mostly by ear and you are by far the easiest I have found to learn from. Thanks again.
This really is a great tutorial. Its helping me out a lot. Thanks for sharing it!
THANKS MAN. I'VE ALWAYS LOVED THIS TRACK AND NETHER BOTHERED TO LEARN IT.

Great lesson! Great playing, too. Sounds excellent.
The prelude of this song is something!
Wow....excellent job man! I really like your instruction style and your playing obviously kicks ass too! Major props!!!!
I agree. Instruction style is so good.
Thanks. I've always "almost had" that last riff!

Good lesson.

I have to concur my friend it is indeed wrong.

Nice and useful
@animefreek619 Nah, I was first on one of the other ones that just came out today. Go Ozzy!
thank you
very good
what is the name of your distortion(pedal)?
riff does appear to be similar to the immigrant song...
not kashmir.
F#-same key as "Flight of Icarus"/Maiden and "Straight Through the Heart"/Dio.
wrong...Immigrant Song
Whats the delay level on for this song?
What amp and pickups thanks

Thanks for the reply, I think based on what you said I can get by with some primitive combination of reverb and delay

@joshe192 it sounds like a wah
First person I see that uses an Agile guitar

the E power chord at 1:56 isn't right. I think sykes plays all 6 strings in the E chord
Muito Bom
Great lesson..just needs the 'Waynes World' intro music!
Actually after much ear straing the lick actually starts on 2nd fret. Replace the first 4 above with 2.
See? Dont trust anyone.
and the end!
Dude! you missed out the bit between the 3rd verse and the middle bit and the middle bit!
NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I like Juice.
Wheres the 2 3 4 ? before 3 2 0

Thanks for watching YOU ROCK! Check out my dvd on my site slymarkmusic . com to learn more - Mark Sly
The intro is right, he just said the wrong thing.
It's pretty obvious just by listening that he CAN play it.
Not a "dip shit".
anybody else notice he's a lefty, and they just switched the video around?
You’re missing a note a note in the intro riff buds
2 Notes....2,3,4 on the A string then the A note on the G string.
Thx Rock on Dude yeeees😂
Immigrant song brother but nice lesson
What was that about "poser"?
:)
I think he accepts your apology though.

Immigrant Song not Kashmir 👍🏼🎸
Wait, 'thick string'? Enough with the technical talk. Keep it simple.
Immigrant Song!!

Immigrant Song....LOL
Too slow
Immigrant song...not Kashmir.
Nice job!

Immigrant Song. Immigrant Song. Good job though.
Awesome tone!
