Lyrics:
In the still of the night, I hear the wolf howl, honey
Sniffing around your door
In the still of the night, I feel my heart beating heavy
Telling me I gotta have more
In the shadow of night, I see the full moon rise
Telling me what's in store
My heart start aching, my body start-a shaking
And I can't take no more
No, no, no
Now I just wanna get close to you
And taste your love so sweet
And I just wanna make love to you
Feel your body heat
In the still of the night
In the still of the night
Over here, baby
In the heat of the day, I hang my head down low
And hide my face from the sun
Through the light of the day until the evening time
Waiting for the night to come
Ooh, baby
In the still of the night
In the cool moonlight
I feel my heart is aching
In the still of the night
Ooh, baby
Ooh, babe
I can't keep away
Closer and closer, need to be closer
I can't keep away, can't keep away, can't keep away
I can't keep away, no
You gotta give me love
Got to give me some lovin' everyday
Can't keep away
Ooh baby, ooh woman
Ahh
Get over here, babe
In the still of the night, I hear the wolf howl, honey
Sniffing around your door
In the still of the night, I feel my heart beating heavy
Telling me I gotta have more
Ooh! Mama
Now I just wanna get close to you
Taste your love so sweet
And I just wanna make love to you
Feel your body heat
In the still of the night, ooh yeah
In the still of the night
I will be sneaking 'round your door
In the still of the night
In the still of the night
Ain't nothing gonna stop me now
Still of the night, still of the night, still of the night
Still of the night, still of the night, still of the night
Still of the night, still of the night, still of the night

Thank mr. Sykes for that. 🤘

Best Whitesnake track. That solo is from another world. The changes of rythm are incredibles. 1987 is one of the best albuns ever.
Agreed!
True! Amazing song
Spot on
Definitely this song's amazing! ❤️❤️❤️
I've seen them live twice. 88 in Germany. One of my fav groups. David Coverdale is so great. From deep purple to whitesnake. Awsome.
"Still Of The Night" remains-and will always be-one of the most perfectly ass-kicking tracks of the 80s 'hair band' era...
Im 26 was born in 1997 but I grew up listening to all the 80s hair metal bands because my parents know what good music is lol. I've seen a lot of these guys, Cinderella, motley Crue, def leopard, Tesla. So glad my parents put me on to this era of music. Wish I grew up in the 80s lol!
It was wild, I can tell you. There was music like this coming out every week. What a decade. Everything was big and exciting back then. They don't do it like that these days.

Haunting, This song is literally about sex. Turns me on!
Amen brother. Doesn't get any better!
Just read about Tawny Kitaen passing away. RIP and thanks for being a most memorable part of my youth. Watching these vids on Mtv made for some awesome weekends hanging out with friends.
RIP Tawny. Us 80’s girls will never forget you, your influence on culture and that magnificent mane!!! You ruled!
Too true. Thanks Tawny. Rock on!
Who had the best hair in the 80's Men or the women?
And your right she's one of the reasons I like long hair to this day, her and Chrystal Gail..
💔😥
Yes! Every girl wanted to look her so beautiful and classy! RIP you will always be a part of our generation!
Heart throb she is...
My wife and I started dating in the 80s. Whitesnake was part of the sound of those early days. In our 50s now, 3 grown kids, and 2 grandkids.
When this song comes on, we both drop what we're doing and play air violins @3:19, exchange a 35 year old glance and grin, for just a few seconds, we're 17 again. Then back to whatever it is we're doing. Music is magical.
I flipping love this. Find her again.. in the still of the night🤘🏻😉
Music is magical.....it sure is
if you're 50's now you must mean started dating IN "late 80's."

When u know - you just know !!! 😁
I was 14 in 1987. That summer, as a gift for passing middle school exams, my brother and I asked my dad for a stereo system. My father loaded us into his car, a blue Fiat 127 and took us to a shop outside the city, in the industrial area. We didn't have much money and my father couldn't afford a big expense, but he satisfied us, we chose a modest hi-fi but with nice speakers. There was only one left, the one exhibited on trial for customers. They packed it in its original slightly dented packaging and we took it home. We immediately took it to our room and tried it. The owner had forgotten a tape inside, maybe he was using it to make customers hear the sound, or maybe he bought it and listened to it. It was "Whitesnake 1987" and the first song that came out of that stereo was " Still of the night". Whenever I happen to hear it, I'm 14 again and I'm with my brother in our teen room and life feels wonderful and full of fun again.
Fantastic. It truly is amazing how music can transport us to a time and place from the past.
Amazing memory man! Cheers!
Is It not time we return to those days ? And get off the 2020 train wreck
wicked story man!
Amazing story!

I wasn't born in the 80s or even the 90s, but I absolutely adore Whitesnake as well as other rock bands in the 80s and 70s. My dad told me he once saw them live playing this song. I can only imagine just how magical it was. I hope my generation won't forget songs and bands like these. Music is something I will always appreciate.
Saw them a few months ago and they're still amazing, the drummer is fcking insane
I saw them on this tour great white opened \m/
My youngest son was born in 04 and he’s a old soul he loves the music I grew up with as if he was right beside me❤
If you aren't turned off by the Satanic imagery, Ghost are a great band who take a lot of influence from '70s and '80s Rock. They even give a nod to this song on "Respite on the Spitalfields".
I was a teen and in my early 20's in the 1980's. IT WAS THE BEST !!! I wish I could go back in time.
Every time I watch this, it's the 80's front and centre, big hair, big guitar riff's proper rock as it was, man I miss the 80's, if you weren't there you missed out.

I thought that whole bow thing on the guitar was going to catch on... I love this song I still listen to it I'm 61 years old I'd have been 26 when it came out. And I always love that bow thing on the guitar.
John Sykes never gets the credit he’s due for the groovy ass guitar work on this album.
Yes, was pissed he wasn't in the video when he didn't even play on the song. Nothing against Vandenburg, he was a hero of mine, but come on Sykes MADE that song. The bow on the solo was magic.
David Coverdale has to be one of the greatest rock vocalist’s of all time and this track proves that. ❤️
I was reading lately that Coverdale had been ill and that he was nervous about recording vocals but that he actually laid down these vocals in the studio quickly and that the final result was achieved by joining two vocal takes.
Happy 71st Birthday David Coverdale and wish you many, many more.
White Snake is part of the history of heavy metal .. Coverdale/Page is pretty good too.
Yeah, and to think that was in the days before auto-tune, back when actual talent was a requirement to become successful.

I agree, this always rings in my head forever
I remember driving around late one night looking for a party to this song. We had just picked up some friends and we were heading up into the hills. We had it playing loud and we were all being loud too, that is until the song spiraled down into the bridge. As we made our way through the dark. I remember how quiet it had gotten. No one spoke a word or made a sound. I'll never forget the look on everybody's face, especially the one girl who had never heard this song. We were all feeling it big time. The night, the hills, the moon, the cool summer air. The song literally became the soundtrack for the moment. What a night and what a magical time to be young and alive.

The model featured in the music video is Tawny Kitaen. She gained significant attention for her appearances in several Whitesnake music videos in the 1980s, including "Here I Go Again" and "Is This Love," but perhaps most famously for "Still of the Night." Her presence in these videos helped catapult her to fame. Sadly Tawny Kitaen passed away on May 7, 2021. cause of death was reported as coronary artery disease. She passed away at her home in Newport Beach, California, on May 7, 2021, at the age of 59. Rest In Peace Tawny

It’s arguable that she saved Whitesnake’s career.
Tawny also struggled with substance-abuse in her career. I always admired her in the 1980s & 1990s. She had a fantastic mix of feral & innocence. RIP Tawny.
So well said

RIP Tawny Kitaen. You were such a huge part of the Whitesnake videos. Guys went crazy for you & girls wanted to be you. So very sorry. 🌷🙏❤
Absolutely!
Well said, the early 80's were it, so many memories.
I'm shocked
She was David's wife for a few years.. so she was a big part of his life in general back in the day. So sad such gorgeous woman aged too soon having drug addiction. Seems like she also underwent some plastic surgery which changed her appearance dramatically. And now she's gone. So sad..
Waited to make a post awhile back … was in the industry 40 years ago. I escaped only because the cigarettes, smoke and booze was outrageous. I had hospitalizations due to extreme bronchitis and some other physical (surgery) reasons I couldn’t emotionally recover from running hard. Excitement was my addiction. Day in day out. Night in night out.
It’s really painful just reminded of some of the sweetest young women who were supportive and were USED, who blasted off the planet early or still paying the price for the coarseness of rock n roll.
I’ll leave it at that. At 20 first bands.. on the road circuit 23yrs at the time 1977 I thought the goal was to be accountable, earn respect, be mentored by elite professionals, produce great records, entertain the world. Wrong.
I was totally off in my own world of self discipline, pushing the limits in technology (available) tho’ not perfect.
I’d never do it again. No regrets, other than I warned as many as I could, (as I was) introducing musicians to a way out. Some did leave and successful in other industries, IT, surgeon, etc.
(My close friends I travel the U.S. in large venues, showcases, 52 weeks a year).
Several of guys are with the best of the best in their 50s & early 60s. However, the pandemic has taken a huge toll of their lifestyle and families.
Anywho Tawny Kitaens, of the world. Just know you were and still loved. And I know you changed the world for many a soul.

Tawny Kitaen may she rest in peace. Beautiful woman. I used to look at her and wish I was one of those video chicks. May her soul be at peace now. Condolences to her family, friends and fans. So sad.
She had a youtube channel, and she was just an incredibly sweet person.
@@storiedtbh any link?
RIP Tawny. Most beautiful woman. Women don't look like this anymore. I wanted to look just like her back in the day. No one beats her hair.
Me too.
@Sheron Edge Ironically mine looked this big naturally and I spent hours ironing it to get it flat and straight. Fortunately it doesn’t take as long after all these years of doing it. It’s still down to my butt. I’ve always loved long hair, still do. (On men, too!)
I wish I had a body like hers.
David's hair ain't half bad either.
@@NenaMataHari .Had you seen her Recently? I doubt it seriously or you would not be saying this.. She destroyed herself with plastic surgery's & drug abuse. she was not the same girl as the 80s
Μεγάλωσα με αυτά τα συγκροτήματα...έπος το τραγούδι.... memories... Rio, Greece
Raw and beautiful. Love the band and that voice !!!! I would go back to the 80s in a heartbeat. ❤️
That chordage after the interlude is seriously great. Glad I listened to the whole song
John Sykes
This song is freaking epic. The build up in the middle....then the release. Gives me a rush every single time I hear it.
Rest In Peace Tawny, let’s remember you for the good times.
Sadly I just heard about it today.
I listen to this song most of the times and I have made covers of Whitesnake and knowing shes passed away in my memories I carry her. Thanks Whitesnake and Tawney for amazing music and videos! Keep Rocking 🤘🏻🤟🏻
Just sad
RIP 🙏😩😭
And great in movie Cocoon. RIP
Just found out now . 🙏
Such stage pressence. Rock needs this today. Nothing feels epic anymore.
John Sykes is a guitar god!
In a post-covid world, will we ever get to experience concerts like we used to?
I Would Suggest A TOOL Or Nine Inch Nails Concert If You Ever Get The Chance. Mind Blowing Shows I Guarantee It 👍
I bumped into David Coverdale in an elevator in a Miami hotel. I was heading to work he was going jogging. Nice guy. He is a gentleman.
As an '80's goth tomboy, this is still 1 of my favorite albums. RIP Tawny, you'll never be forgotten.
We need to bring back the 80s for real!!!!!
Best Whitesnake track ever...:-)
Ich kann es mir immer wieder anhören. Meisterstück von Whitesnake. 👌
Many Greetings from . . . . . . . . . . .Germany!😜
@@FriesinNF Viele Grüße von mir zurück.
The summer of ‘87 was such an awesome year for album releases. 1987 by Whitesnake, Girls, Girls, Girls by The Crue, Dancing Undercover by RATT, Momentary Lapse of Reason by Pink Floyd and Hysteria from Def Leppard - what a time to be alive
Badass song!! 👀
This song had it all... let's be honest - there are simply no songs that have all the elements represented here. Excellent guitar intro, melody change, solo singing, guitar guitar jamming, drums and percussions... beautiful XJ12s, amazing singer's voice & his sexy model. This should be labeled as one of the best 80's songs (and beyond).
A kickass video to go along with it all too
$portsFan Tom Sawyer by Rush is pretty impressive. That song would get my vote.
You got that right the best song of the 80's especially the Acapella part by DC awesome . long live WS and DP
This song brings back some bitter sweet memories... A lot of people told me I looked a lot like Tawny Kitaen, which I didn't know who she was until I saw their videos. It made me feel kinda cool until the day I was diagnosed with the Big C/Cancer. Those were some DARK Days, because all of the Surgeries, Chemo, Loss of hair and almost my Life!!! The ONE THING that kept me going, besides my Family and Friends was my LOVE of ONE Genre of Music, 80's Heavy Metal, and My Faith!!! I am an older Gal now, raising my Awesome Boys, who Love the Metal also, and to share the Music and Memories with them are totally Priceless!!! What saddens me now is that in my opinion, the Music now is a strand away from Death, it's not even Music, just screaming, rapping that you CANNOT understand, and makes NO SENSE at all!!!That's it for now, SHOUT OUT to ALL My Metal Brothers and Sisters!
+Cindy M. Alas, none of us is what we were physically---I used to run a 4:30 mile but nowadays sometimes have trouble walking without pain---but hopefully we've compensated by growing as PEOPLE. In spite of all you've been through glad the good Lord saw fit to let you be there for your kids, a mission whose importance cannot be overstated! Check out NIN's "Just Like You Imagined," COLDPLAY's "Warning Sign," and PORCUPINE TREE's "Trains" for three songs that will restore your faith in modern rock.
Cindy M. well there's a lot of good metal out there in 2016
Cindy M. glad you beat the big C!!!
Happy and glad you beat cancer. Great for you!
Cindy M. We are sisters of a sort..except for me it was Bobbi Brown not Tawny..I did know who that was just because of Cherry Pie. But I am totally with you, Glad you beat C but sorry you had to. I am different in that I have not 1 but 2 lovely chronic diseases with lots of suffering and no relief! My kids love this metal because they were raised with it. My eldest son is a fantastic guitar player who can play anything, that's without motherly bias too! I told my kids..if I am ever out of it in hospital, you blast 3 songs in my earbuds on loop - 1.this one 2. Fight the good Fight (Triumph)3. Switch 625/Gods of War for Steve 'steamin' Clark (Def Leppard for those who don't know)..so, good on you Cindy M, I hope your future is bright and keep rockin' as I am, doesn't help the pain but sure sounds fucking great! I wonder what people will think of these songs playing at my funeral at not 10 volume....but 11! :) for those who get that!! take care!! :)
This song will still sound good in 100 years
You bet
more...more...mooore
@@victoroliveira0810... how do you like it, how do you like it? From Andrea True Connection 1976 song "More, more, more"
2023 and still counting
Maybe 😮
This entire divinity of an album, good lord, the epitome of hard rock ballads. It’s almost 3 in the morning. Here I am, it’s miserably, undeniable profound. God damn, the lyrics, guitars, bass, drums, Coverdale’s voice. I was born in the wrong decade. I tried very hard not to use profanity. So irrevocably and profoundly haunting. it’s a crime to overlook or skip through. Bless you all. Rock on gentlemen.
That solo. Masterpiece.
Paul Gorham III especially the legato phrase
I like the fucking squeal he does in 4:18. He is literally screaming with the guitar.
🤘Bring back 80s Metal! 🤘
