    Robby Steinhardt's Violin Talent was showcased well in this song! Sadly He passed from this World to the next in July of 21 here in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. I was Fortunate to have met him at a local ice-cream shop on numerous occasions! He was a FUN GUY to converse with, and we shared a few laughs! LU-LU is correct!! Robby Kindly corrected me when I used the term "Fiddle", and He stated it was a "VIOLIN!"😅 My Bad! Robby was a Good Soul and is missed Greatly by those who knew and Loved Him! RIP Robby and Thanks for the Melodic Memories.🙏🎤🎻❤

    Carry On Wayward Son is one of the few if not only Kansas song that doesn’t have a violin part. The main lead singer, Steve Walsh, didn’t wear tuxes in concert. 🙂 In fact Steve kept in great shape and usually only wore a pair of athletic shorts, and back in the 1970’s - 1980’s they were the smaller, tighter shorts. 🙂 He usually never wore a shirt. Along with playing the organ/electric piano, bongos, and singing, he still found time to do head/hand stands on top of his piano. 😂 TRUE STORY!

    Back in the day when this was hot for some reason Kansas NEVER played in Nebraska. I lived there so a buddy and I had to go to Red Rocks, CO (God's Cathedral). Very well worth the trip and a nice ride on a couple of Harleys with our girls. 600 miles round trip with roughly $1.00 gas
    I've seen them since then with the new band members in Reno (former Harrah's outdoor venue) Still killin' it.
    I still have this LP./Album.
    Carry on Wayward Sun.
    Point of Know Return.
    "All your money won't another minute buy".

  • @stevedahlberg8680

    I'm in the middle of the reaction and it's delightful as always. Yeah Robbie played violin or fiddle depending because a lot of their stuff really had more of a classical feel to it where you would say it's more violin but he was playing that and most of their stuff.
    They had a lot of really big hits, but one that I think you guys would really love is called Point of No Return from their iconic album called, Point of Know Return. And it is magnificent. It is a work of art and yeah there's some incredible violin Parts in that. It's such an emotional story and you can interpret it in different ways which is the beauty of really really good songwriting like that, but for me they were using old myths and allegories to talk about real struggles in the modern era at that young age in the 70s, and confronting your fears and your demons yet wanting adventure and trying to find something interesting out of life but your family misses you and they're worried about you and all that sort of thing. It's just a really powerful and emotional way to talk about it using music.

    As others have stated, the violin and the fiddle are the same instrument. I think the 'proper' name is determined by the music genre. A fiddle is prominent in blue grass and country. A violin is used in other genres. But i could be wrong.

    • @kevinkaurin8383
      @kevinkaurin8383 8 месяцев назад +1

      There are physical differences.
      The fiddle bridge is not curved as much to make it easier playing two strings at once.
      The strings are typically metal core instead of gut to give them a different sound.
      I'm sure there are differences in the body also to give a different sound.
      A fiddle would sound out of place in an orchestra.

    "In heaven, everything is good; in hell, everything bad. In the world, since it lies between the two, you find both. We are placed between two extremes, and so participate in both. Good and bad luck alternate; not all is happy, nor all hostile. This world is a zero: on its own, it's worth nothing; joined to heaven, a great deal. Indifference to its variety constitutes good sense - the wise are never surprised. Our life is arranged like a play, everything will be sorted out in the end. Take care, then, to end it well." - Baltasar Gracián, 'The Pocket Oracle'
