Lyrics-
"Dust In The Wind"
I close my eyes
Only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind
Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Now don't hang on
Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
(All we are is dust in the wind)
Dust in the wind
(Everything is dust in the wind)
Everything is dust in the wind
(In the wind)

This such an honest, well explained reaction. I couldn’t love your honesty more. Especially, your perspective on culture and music’s impact.
My husband is Richard Williams one of the two guitar player’s in this video. Kansas is still out touring and bringing music to their fan’s. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. 🎸
He nailed it! I had to respond to pay tribute to the Royalty honoring this court!
Thank you for saying this. My thoughts exactly.
I got to see them in concert. They were amazing. R.ip.Robbie Steinhardt, the violinist and singer for Kansas, Your music lives on, and you are missed.
Very cool of you to show up in the comments!
The guitar in this... I remember spending God only knows how many hours trying to learn how to play it in the 90's at 15 or 16 and it sent me into conniptions - didn't even know it was 2 guitars lmao
one of the top bands ever.................
You will love Carry on Wayward Son by these guys too!
Absotively posilutely.
Definitely!
100% YES!
100%
Carry on is like the antithesis of Dust in the wind
Pop this on later tonight, Jojo, laying on your bed, lights out, phones on, turned up, and just drift away. Some songs just soar and can take you with them.
Kkk
I
@@kimgonzales2595 bruh?
"The Wall", "Miracles Out of Nowhere", "Point of Know Return", "Carry On Wayward Son", "Song For America", "Can I Tell You" are some of my favorite Kansas songs.
Don’t forget closet chronicles
I saw Kansas at a balloon festival about 6 years ago. ❤️❤️❤️
Miracles out of Nowhere is crazy brilliant
Love their new album!
LARRY where is Whats on my mind?!
"it's like someone has opened up the heaven's gates" Perfect. You nailed it. BTW I was captivated listening to your take, so wise for being so young.
Nothing last forever but the earth and sky
Thanks JOJO!! This is a great example of words having meaning. The man playing the Violin in this was Robby Steinhardt. He was an integral member of the band Kansas. My friend Cindy Married him a few years ago. They were very close, a good match. Sadly he passed away last July. RIP to him. A BIG Talent, and a great loss. His Widow Cindy saw your reaction and shared it to her F.B. feed. She was very struck and uplifted by your kind words and stated that "This was exactly what She needed to hear right now!!" Good for you and keep up the GOOD-WORK young Man!! For her sake, Thanks SO MUCH!!
This song is soo beautiful. You will love "Carry On My Wayward Son".. it's absolutely amazing. The lead singer of Kansas went on to become a born again Christian and started a band called Mastedon in the 80's, a Christian rock band that you might like.....(Not to be confused with a band called Mastodon.. one has an O one has an E....) :) Edit: This is one of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar... a friend in college taught me. I can still see him sitting there playing his electric, teaching me the notes... sweet memories.
Did you know that Kerry Livgren also dipped a toe in the Christian music scene? He had a band called AD. Their "Art of the State" cassette tape got worn out :) I particularly loved "The Fury" off that album.
If you liked this song from Kansas, you would probably also like Bob Seger - Turn The Page
Yeah, that's another one that makes me cry when I hear it.
Oh yes!! Bob seger and that song is the best !!
I think the Metallica cover of turn the page is much more powerful, just saying
Great choice
Another great classic that doesn’t get a lot of play is by Emerson Lake & Palmer. Still you turn me on. Check it out .🤘🎶
Another Kansas tune is Hold on. Check out the lyrics on hold on. Dam Joe.
I'm always so impressed with your maturity and even though you are young, I think you "get it". Yes kiddo life is short make the most of it. Good review. I feel like I'm watching you grow up right before my eyes. You're already look so much more mature than you did when you started this channel.
That was a 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥 reaction. "Culture matters." ♡
You don't know it Jo Jo but you're an old soul. To feel a song like this the way you felt it proves it for me. Old souls recognize old souls.
Kansas the only band with the most talented red headed Neanderthal who could sing, MC, and play the violin!
😂 for rele though
This song is more like audio artwork than just a song. Some of those old bands really knew how to leave a mark. I loved this song when I was younger. Looking back at the song now, I would say the message of the song in itself is that every day of your life is a precious commodity. Every day that ends for your is a day you'll never get back. And the older you get, the fewer days you have ahead of you. This song is meant to remind people that all the things we do in our life, all of the stuff we have, the money in our pockets all mean nothing in the end. It's the connections you form between the people around you that will matter as each day, month and year passes by. Make sure you treasure the people you love because eventually, they to will be gone.
I love it when you can see exactly when a song hits you.
Gives you chills, doesn't it?
I'm 32 (born in 1989) & I actually like this song; at the end of humanity all we are is "Dust In The Wind". It's about life expectancy. Great upload!
Five years older and I heard it when I was younger along with many rock bands. One of my favorite Poison songs Something To Believe In.
@@roseannamanues2111; I agree!
Yes!
Yeah, this one has made me cry every time I hear it. Ever since it first came out.
it is an amazing song
One of the most beautiful songs of all time.
Thank god for Kerry's wife Vicci. He was only using this as a fingerpicking exercise and she is the one who convinced him to write lyrics for it and turn it into an actual song. It is so un-Kansas, which is exactly what makes so Kansas!
At one point in my life I saw Kansas 26 times in concert. The lead singer Steve Walsh isn't with them anymore. Outstanding.
This song was so magical. It was played on every kind of radio station, rock, country, country, gospel etc. Huge hit.
A PS to my last comment. I’m listening to this reaction the day after the brutal mass shooting at the elementary school in Texas. I’ve loved this song since the 70s, but it takes on a whole new meaning now with everything feeling so raw. Bless the beasts and the children as they say, who die so needlessly. Will people ever learn? It seems that answer is a huge “no” 😪
The blonde-haired guitarist, Kerry Livgren, is the one who wrote this song. He's a born-again Christian and he wrote several spiritually-themed songs that the band recorded; my favorites are, "The Wall", "Crossfire", "Hold On", and "Child of Innocence".
Loved your reaction.
This song is timeless and can effect people from all ages and cultures
Thanks for the review.
"And all your money won't another minute buy..." Great line - well, the whole song is. Loved your reaction! Have you reacted to their "Carry on My Wayward Son"? Just as good, I think. This one really showcases how powerful his voice is.
When I was a kid , this song came out on the radio and after I heard it , I fell in love with it and the band , it's just a wonderful song .... Now that I'm old retired and been having lots of health issues I hear this song and realized it's not just a song , it's the meaning of life and of our next generations to come , we're born , we live , we survive of the land , which provides us water , fruits and life , all of this comes from simple the the land, dust, dirt and ground and the wind , that's why when we die we all turn to dust , that way our future generations can live their life' at their fullest , take care of our beautiful land , cause that's what we all are gonna en up turning into , dust in the wind , that way our future generations will survive in this beautiful world we all live in !! .... LUVS Y'ALL !! ✌🏻🥰🎶🍄😚💨💨🍄🎶🥰✌🏻
"It's like somebody opened up Heaven's gates" wow - not only true because it's so beautiful but also because suddenly we're looking at life from Heaven's perspective. I was young when this song came out and am much older now, but this song actually takes me out of time in a sense -- I felt no age then and I feel no age now when hearing this, because in eternity we won't be dealing with time anymore.
Great reaction -- very perceptive and actually quite moving - thank you for posting.
This was IMO their most iconic song and they did quite a few... I appreciate and respect your reaction. Unfortunately the violinist Robby Steinhardt passed away recently...RIP Robby
They say we live two lives, one before we realize we are not permanent and one after.
Live an epic life.
Great review. Kansas is dope. This song hits hard cause it is very true. It is beautiful, sad and everything in-between. We only have 1 life to live and then we are gone. Unfortunately, we will all be dust in the wind. So live it up.
Genesis 3:19 ESV / 12
By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
This song is Beautiful and Timeless! It never gets old. RIP Robby Steinhardt. Now you can play your gorgeous violin in Heaven too.
I'm still so heartbroken for the loss of Robbie Steinhardt, the red-headed violinist who recently passed away. Gone too soon, but Kansas has left us a beautiful legacy of music.
If you listen to it a few different times in different moods, you'll realize that this song has several layers to it. If you listen while you sad, you'll see it in the light of it's all a struggle ultimately for nothing. But if you're happy, you'll see it in the light of all your worries aren't worth the stress your putting on yourself. Then you can have it speaking to you saying "embrace today, enjoy your life and family because you won't be able to forever".
I always want it to be longer!!! And I do get halfway through and start it over, seriously. You said it great, it's like someone opened heavens gate.
You know why the 60s 70s and the 80s had such great music? Because those creative artists where in touch with themselves with there feelings/emotions.After that 80/90s the tele-vision and social media have taken that over. There are offcourse still fantastisch artists like Stromea but they become rare.
I have no words for this reaction, like you have no words for this song. It's a masterpiece surely, and I heard it for the first time over three decades ago. And like you, just thought it was like the heavens opening up. Great job kid. ✌️🤘🎵
My grandson Izaak would of been 20 yesterday, he passed away on Valentine's Day 2022. We had this song played at his celebration of life!! This is one of the most beautiful songs ever !! ❤️
This was played at the funeral of a friend of mine 23 years ago. He died at 23 from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and bone cancer. I always think of him when I hear it.
Kansas was one of the great 70s bands. I also love them singing "Carry On Wayward Son".
Their new album rocks!
As one who grew up white in the 70s, I dreamed of living to the day when we'd share all our music together and I'd see my fellow black Americans/humans experience and comment on the songs of my era that they maybe never heard before.
I had this album and restarted it many times (turntable) lol. Learned to play and sing it on guitar (everybody I knew did 😅)
LOVE your reactions. My heart is full.
The band harmonized perfectly on this also
This is one of the best bands ever. Their lyrics would dig deep into your soul and make you look at yourself.Wayward Son is another of my favorites. I've asked this song be played at my funeral.
And In 100 years, this song will still have meaning.
I loved Kansas back in the day. They kept me sane in my teens
I love the violins in this song. It's so beautiful and a bit haunting. That is great music.
Robby Steinhardt, the bearded violinist, was the original vocalist for Kansas, when they brought in Steve Walsh, who did vocals and keyboards. Between Robbie and Steve, they made some incredible vocal harmonies. During the early 1970s, the band Queen heard Kansas and were very impressed by them. At the time, Queen was one of the biggest bands in the world, and brought Kansas on tour with them to open their shows. That gave Kansas a world-wide audience, and Kansas became one of the biggest bands in the world in the late 70s and early 80s. Their first big hit was "Carry On Wayward Son" from the album "Leftoverture," and this song became their biggest hit, which was on their follow-up album, "Point of No Return." All of their albums have some incredible songs, but Leftoverture and Point of Know Return are really special. Kansas is still touring, with 2 original members, Rich Williams on guitar and Phil Ehart, the drummer.
I just found your channel tonight... At first, I was laughing hearing your responses to the songs I grew up with.. The last video I watched, Zombie - the cranberries, I was brought to tears watching your reaction.. kudos to you! Thank you for these videos!
You're such a wise 22 year old, love your channel. This 75 year old loves hearing all the songs she loves again.
Kansas has held a special place in my heart since they came out in the 70s when I was in high school. I say this every time I comment on your reactions, but I’m so excited when I see someone your age getting into music that I was drawn too, and still am! It’s a real trip seeing you go deep with songs of that era. Because that’s what we all did. Like Pink Floyd, Genesis when Peter Gabriel was with them in the early days, all had brilliant music from brilliant musicians
Well, the reason why this song is so powerful is in my opinion, it is telling a simple but important truth in a calm way, so you can relax and let your thoughts flow. Everything has an end, so be nice to yourself and other people, enjoy life, be a kind human beeing and make earth a place worth living in.
It's a beautiful & sobering song. It's like saying for all that life is, none of it really matters in the end.
They just don't make music like this anymore. The fact that you can appreciate the beauty of songs like this makes me optimistic that good music will survive and hopefully come back into fashion.
The song is pure truth. I can't sing along to this song without crying. It's beautiful and sad.
Listen to "Carry On My Wayward Son", please.
You are having a true music experience. 🎶 the frequency resonates with soul.
A perfect song to listen to when things are getting too heavy in your life. Really puts things in perspective.
Kansas Used A Reference From Ecclesiastes For The Title Of ‘Dust In The Wind’…The Bible reference in the title of the song:
“I reflected on everything that is accomplished by man on earth, and I concluded: Everything he has accomplished is futile - like chasing the wind! (Eccl 1:14)”
Another reference from Ecclesiastes is:
“All go to one place. All are from the dust, and to dust all return. (Eccl 3:20)”
Man Jojo... you really have really changed your way of thinking about different music styles and just stuff in general. It's young men like yourself that gives me a little bit of Hope for the future! p.s. I think your Dad (and Sis) are awesome! ✌✌
This will be in your head forever now. Great driving tune. And now you will get Bill And Ted. Rock on, man.
Do Scorpions "Wind of Change" please help me out on this people. COMMENT why the song is awesome
Great song about a historical moment from the late 80’s when the Berlin Wall came down and families reunited and the Cold War ended.
I was stationed in Germany when it came down.
The song grabs the feel of the time.
One of my all time favorite songs.
This song takes you deep. Your reaction was perfect to what this song makes one feel.
This one digs deep. Thanks for reviewing.
Now ur beginning too understand the magnitude of 70's music. It is incredible the whole decade precedes all before it and everything after
This song always gives me vibes similar to Phil Collins's song 'In The Air Tonight': fully recommended checking it out if you haven't heard it yet!
wonderful suggestion
This is the bands from the 70s and early 80s....before autotune and digital editing. Back when you had to be amazing . Kansas are top notch musicians, singers, writers....the whole package.
Thats when music was worth listening to
RIP Robby Steinhardt. May your violin and voice never be forgotten.
It's hard to take in when you first hear it then it becomes totally addictive...Thanks for playing my #1 all time band
This song has been always been true spiritual experience for me.
Love your comments on this song. Beautiful and, shine on you crazy diamond!
please react to Wayward Son by Kansas!! Love your videos!
Kansas was a memorable concert! Steve Walsh had left the band, but came back to tour with them, for some reason- He was the most athletic lead singer- I know a lot of people will say, David from Van Halen was, since he was a cheerleader and could do jumps and such- but trust me, Steve Walsh COULD do more, and did in concert. I saw both Van Halen with David and Kansas with Steve- Steve kicked it and was so entertaining!
Don't sweat the small stuff, live your life as it is shorter than you realize when you are young. Smile as much as you can.
Lucky to go to two KANSAS concerts. They were one of my top bands. Memories for sure.
"Nothing lasts forever but the Earth and sky; it slips away and all your money won't another minute buy."
I'm so happy you felt that song! It's a treasure.
One of the ALL TIME classics. Excellent song !!
True words! If you can feel it, who cares about cultural background? It’s only important to listen and try something new, keep your mind and heart open … ☮️
Steve Walsh lead singer and keyboards for Kansas best rock singer in history. Kerry Livgren guitar wrote this song . Kansas are musical geniuses beloved worldwide.
Kerry Livgren wrote this and other songs as a member of the band...his belief in God was obvious in this song and Wayward son...
Makes you realize that no person is more important than the next. Not one particle of dust is more important than another. No matter and rich or famous, their deaths are no more sad than the miss of a family mwmber ir friend of ours.
Watched these boy's play football in the grass at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. They went to Topeka West and we went to Topeka High!! Rivals..This was in 1974. They were just getting big. They were humble and kind, and funny as Sh*t. Listen to Carry on my Wayward Son!! Both Beautiful Songs. ❤
This song sinks in, it sinks in deep.
Great song ,,, this is one of their mellower songs ,. I did get to see KANSAS in concert ,,,, O M G ,, one of the best concerts I ever seen !!! I would go see KANSAS again if they came any where close to my part of the country !!!!
And all your money won't another minute buy. Perfection!!!!
Just like your dad real as sugar honey ice tea bro!!!! Keep it up!
The song is a reminder to be humble.
Nothing we do or build will last. So don't obsess over earthly success.
Don't obsess about fame and reknown because no matter what, we will eventually be forgotten and nothing of us will remain.
Don't be consumed by the hoarding of money and things because you will die and leave it all behind.
No matter who we are... rich, poor, famous, unknown, powerful, helpless, brave, cowardly, wise, foolish, clever, stupid...
None of that matters. None of that makes anyone better or lesser, greater or smaller.
We are all mortal, and we should remember that at all times. Because nothing at all will change that.
I am so glad you understood this song so well and liked it. It is an universal song that trumps all our differences and all our similarities.
They are named Kansas because they were from Kansas. Being a kid from Kansas there was nothing better driving down the road with the radio up and hearing Kansas. They made beautiful music. Underrated.
It's a beautiful song that brings tears to the eyes.
I can tell it touched you that your eyes were glistening.
Saw Kansas open for Yes years ago. Both bands had a phenomenal show. I believe it was back in '99-'00 when I went. Best concert I've been to. "Carry On Wayward Son", "The Wall", "People of the Southwind" and "Song For America" are all great ones to check out.
You're really smart and sensitive Young Man...😊
You're rich really rich inside...Good for You and people around You✌🙂
Take care and more inspirations every day for You
Kansas are so beautiful, so underrated.
I saw Kansas and Stixs
By far the best concert I have ever been to.
And I'm a metal head!
Kansas yes this song will make you think and make you humble
That's right baby boy, it's always something. But you sound like you're ready for whatever comes. You are so wise. Be happy and healthy. But always remember that you are influencing so many everyday through your inspirational posting. LFR family love you 👍🏾👵🏿💞💞!
Fifty years ago all the musical genres were rollin' and tumblin' all night long.
The musical cup done overfloweth..
