    I wish Walther would make a PPQ 45 Long Slide.

  • @stopthephilosophicalzombie9017
    @stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 8 лет назад +7

    A note for PPQ owners who have developed grit on the trigger:
    I did a complete teardown on my PPQ 9mm last night (granted the ease with which one can remove the "gearbox", by just knocking out the rear rollpin makes a teardown on a PPQ trivial) as I had developed some grit on the takeup and break.
    I polished (first using 2000 grit then Flitz polish) the slide safety plunger and bore, the side of the plastic trigger itself where it rubs the frame, the trigger bar where it rubs the frame (there's a little nub that is the primary contact point), and what the parts diagram calls the 'adjustable trigger bar guide,' which is a strange little part that rides on the outside of the gearbox between it the frame, and impinges on the top of the trigger bar.
    I found that if I took out the trigger bar guide, the grit went away completely. I was tempted to leave it out, but the consensus on the Walther forums is that it provides necessary pressure on the trigger bar. I ended up polishing the dern thing to a mirror finish, and now the 'Q has a legitimately 'zero grit' on take-up and break, and you know what they say, a smooth trigger is a joy forever!!

    In the last six months i have bought one S&W, one Ruger, one Glock and two Sig's. Seeing that we live in an everything is someone's else's fault society and i'm in deep denial about my addiction to pistols i blame you. My dog has to eat cat food because it cheaper and he now growls at the monitor when he sees your face. So this video well have no effect on we in anyway. I have two 45 APC pistols and do not need another one. I just checked the safe and I don't have a Walther, always wanted a Walther .... dam maybe just one more then I'll be done buying then.

    I picked up my new Walther PPQ 45 at lunch today and ran 100 rounds (Blazer Brass FMJ 230 gr) through it. No issues at all. I love the extra long slide stop. I did not notice much in the way of muzzle flip or recoil impulse, seemed less than my Ruger SR 1911 Light Weight CMD I shot Tuesday. I like the M2 magazine button. I love the trigger and the feel of it in my hand, it is my first Walther. The only thing I have any question on are the sights. They are plastic/polymer and the rear sight seems to be extra wide. Great gun!

    • @JustinOpinionChannel
      @JustinOpinionChannel  8 лет назад

      +princeofmoskova Excellent input from a first time PPQ owner - thanks. Compared to your SR1911 light I'd agree, but some other poly-strikers shoot a bit flatter. Not a big deal by any means, for me anyway. Also agree on the rear sights of the Walthers. Too much air space for my taste. I'm working with an aftermarket replacement that I hope to review before too long.

    • @princeofmoskova
      @princeofmoskova 8 лет назад

      +Justin Opinion I will admit to not being a poly-striker guy, I prefer a hammer, but this gun just spoke to me and I had to have it. It's a great gun, but I am looking forward to your choice of aftermarket sights.

    I bought one. I have never shot with the stock captive spring. Mine is stainless steel(about $50). I have shot several hundred rounds of cheap 230 grain "ball" ammo. It was flawless.A tungsten rod system like Glock has may or may not be optimum. I did not see any optional recoil springs to run +P rounds. But plastic guns might not be the best idea for those loads.

  • @appalachiangunman9589
    @appalachiangunman9589 3 года назад

    I have the PPQ in 9mm and I’d love to have the 45. I’m kind of leaning more towards an FNX 45 because of the capacity mostly. 12 rounds isn’t bad for a double-stack 45 but 15 is better. Also I kind of want something double/single action with a hammer and decocker. Maybe if the money situation gets better I’ll just get both, maybe one now and one later. Then it will just be a matter of finding ammo.

    This PPQ should be the next US sidearm, screw the M9.

    • @MrRoboskippy
      @MrRoboskippy 8 лет назад

      +Neptune Bluez I agree. The military should have a .45, as it is inherently sub-sonic. The 9mm PPQ had a Navy version with a threaded barrel and could shoot full of water. They should do the same with the .45.

    • @stopthephilosophicalzombie9017
      @stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 8 лет назад +1

      There's a place called Tornado Tech that can add threads to Walther barrels for around $150 or so. I'm planning on doing that when I get a PPQ 45 if Walther hasn't come to their senses by that time.

    • @factsoftheconfederacy7151
      @factsoftheconfederacy7151 4 года назад

      Well, the SIG P320 M17 and M18 is the gun now. The 9mm is only chosen because it’s a NATO round and it’s economical and you can hold more rounds. A hit in the military is better than no hit at all. I can understand it for military use, but give me a .45 ACP for civilian self defense.

    Just a suggestion for all PPQ's, I love them but there is just too much air in the rear sight. I purchased a 10-8 rear sight, the stock rear sight notch is 180 thousand the 10-8 sight is 140 thousand, for me it is perfect. On my 9mm PPQ I just purchased a Truglow front sight OMG.

      The PPQ 45 has a firepower/capacity advantage over the Ruger American 12+1 vs 10+1. I like the Ruger design; however, why didn't they just make it a 12 round + pistol? I'll be getting the Walther PPQ 45 future-tense because of capacity among other things of course.

    I want to like it.... but I can't.... With such a high bore axis, it's like a race car on top of the track not in it... If that makes sense.

    Ruger American 9mm VS. Walther PPQ 45

    • @JustinOpinionChannel
      @JustinOpinionChannel  7 лет назад +1

      I've done two videos with the Ruger American .45, and no one has watched them. That would be a fun comparison, but it would be lower on the list. I do need to get that PPQ 45 back out again soon though.

      @2ndCitySES17 7 лет назад

      Ah ok. I've been researching both and deciding which one to get. I've been going back and forth between the two for a while. If it helps, I did watch your 1st hundred video on the American and I liked that you hit all the points with the gun.

      It's a nice gun. A comparison between the two would be fun for sure. I'm not really prepared to recommend one over the other at this point, though my gun reaction is the prefer the Walther. Thanks for watching!

      No, Thank you sir. Like I said I've been doing a lot of research and your videos were a big help. It makes the decision that much harder, but I'd rather have all the information and make a good decision then the exact opposite. Especially when it comes to getting a solid, reliable pistol. Keep up the great work.

    Dang, I hate Kalifornistan. PPQs are deemed unsafe and illegal because the are not on the DOJ Roster.

    It's funny. You can squint at the 45 and it looks kinda like a highpoint.

      +Eric J LOL - that's true. The tall grip handle brings that out, I think. However, it does shoot a little better. ;-)

    I don't understand people...You want a full sized side arm....but you don't want it to be big? Don't ever elect anyone like me. I'd mandate IQ test for anyone who'd who'd own a gun.

      Justin Opinion what's a good comfy in waist band holster for ppq 45 ?

    • @JustinOpinionChannel
      @JustinOpinionChannel  6 лет назад

      Wouldn't be my first (or tenth) choice for IWB carry because it's a fatty... so if you already don't mind that then I'd say get a StealthGear holster. Most comfortable you can get - and top quality. I carry my G30S in one.
