Looks like an awesome gun from Rock Island! Had the Rock Island A1 1911 and 10 mm with a 5-in barrel and love it. I shoot mostly ball ammo, 180 grain, and 200 grain Underwood hard cast lead. This gun is mainly carried just for in the woods for whether it's better protection or coyotes and if I go to Montana again it'll be out there in case the wolf and the grizzlies and the moose too, the moose can attack you also

I prefer open sights too. It's just more familiar after 60 years of shooting. But today I think anything over a Hi-Point should come optics ready because that's what the market demands. Even some revolvers are getting them.

Always enjoy your videos. Have the 5.0. Pita to disassemble. Sent back once for light strikes. Stove pipes 6 out of 100. I think it likes hotter rounds to eject properly. Nice gun to shoot. Little felt recoil. Well made. A nich gun.

    Very interesting and appropriate comparison.
Is there a breakdown video on the TS2 also?

I think sandbags would improve the performance and blue loc-tite. The muzzle rise seems like it would be the same if both had optics on the top (both have additional reciprocating mass from the optics). Perhaps, the 5.0e may be even better. Just suggestions. All in all, good video.

RIA was going to sell this gun for half the price at one point. What happened? They just turned off most of the people that might have taken a chance on it. They put it out of the reach of the people that typically look to RIA for value and affordability. You can get 2011 style pistols for sub 1k.. I picked up a Taurus TS9 that is every bit as good as a Glock 19x or Glock 45 for less than $300. Sorry, but in this economy, and with all of the guns competing for your dollars, you are going to have to do better.

Definitely need to consider reshooting the rested shots as I agree with your assessment that it was the dot was probably hopping around.
Personally I find an Atlas Bipod with spike feet mounted to the pic rail as a more consistent way to bench rest long shots vs the rest that you have (and I once owned)
For that price point it should be capable of much tighter groups.

Alas, the gun was on loan and has been returned. Didn't have an option to purchase it or I probably would have. There are a lot of nasty comments in here, but I applaud the balls they have to innovate. I'll research that bipod though, thanks!

@@JustinOpinionChannel yeah that’s very unfortunate that people are being jerks, but I do think RIA is making a mistake by offering a product outside of it’s demographic.Hopefully they will see the feedback.
If they did something like Canik did with TTi they could have upped their game and made something customers are willing to pay for.
I fear this offering is a bit like Kia making a super car that is designed to go up against Ferrari. It doesn’t matter if it really is better, that’s not a mere mortal budget and people who can finally buy the unobtanium don’t celebrate it by passing on the Ferrari and getting a Kia.
For now they need to have their sights set on Bul, Tanfoligo, & Canik for a playbook on how to level up their image and product placement.
Sadly theirs a long history of outstanding products (cough - grand power) that get ignored for failing to have market awareness

After getting an Arex Delta that gives so much quality for so much less, I cannot even take CZ serious anymore. Let alone a Rock Island for that price.

Give me the non-Enhanced version of this gun. I think the reality here is that Armscor saw that this gun was a big winner and immediately YANKED it off the market, put an 'E' on the end of the model number and doubled the price!

I replaced the rear sight with a Tony systems optic plate on my TS2. So I can run it with a Holosun and get very good 40 yard bullseyes with it. Less than 2 lb trigger.... SO, what I want to know is, what does the RIA give you...? With the optic the TS2 is still less cost. Except, of course CZ screwed up with buying Colt and now you can't get the TS2 any more.... Do enjoy your reviews.

The answer in this range is always the Shadow 2. RIA has to do better than this to sell a completely new gun that they might easily discontinue if sales aren't great. I don't see anything that makes it compelling vs CZ or a cheap 2011

    • @JustinOpinionChannel
      @JustinOpinionChannel  5 месяцев назад +1

Can't think of any argument against your Shadow 2 statement. Your also not wrong on the other points - but I'm still praising them for the innovation. It takes legit balls to do that, and I hope it has legs.

This review seems Black & White. No gloss, no color, no passion, just another blah pistol, no excitement on your part. Normally midway through any review I'll pause and go to gun broker and research price and features. No interest here this time. It's not you. It's the gun, it's marque?, heritage??
Nothing. Too many other more exciting choices out there. For me? Classic metal P2XX Sig Sauers. Discontinued I know but exciting Quality. Maybe because I retired to New Hampshire after living in Conn. For 65.5 years.✌️
