I love it when you review something I already own so that I don’t have to go buy a new toy! Thanks for this review, I am now a huge Smith & Wesson fan after being issued one for my duty pistol. The S&W 45 is an off-duty favorite. I was pleasantly surprised to hear you say that you liked it better since it is trendy these days to like Walther and CZ. Be safe out there brother!

I don't often "pick a winner" when I do comparisons, and some folks get really annoyed by that. But I also am not afraid to do so or just say what I think or indicate a preference, etc. Each has attributes that are excellent, and at the end of the day it's mostly subjective. I try to provide a meaningful and fun look. In this case, I do prefer the Smith overall, and have no issue saying so. Thanks for watching, sir. Be safe out there.

I know you didn’t ask me, but I have 19 years as a range master on the
.40 pistols. .40 is s higher pressure round. It’s USUALLY more snappy than 9mm and .45 ACP. But if you get a well designed pistol, the recoil won’t bother you a bit. Large pistols shoot softer. Small ultra-compact pistols have a bark to them. I have a Glock 22 and an M&P40 that seem to shoot SOFTER than any compact 9mm. Rent a few at a range before you buy if you can.

    • @jeffsimon2144
      @jeffsimon2144 4 года назад +1

@@Ginkoman2 Any of those calibers are fine for concealed carry/personal protection. There will be a lot of internet commandos who will tell you the 45 or 40 are harder hitting than the 9 (and they should be if loaded properly), but keep in mind all three calibers are somewhat anemic as far as terminal ballistics are concerned when compared to rifle or shotgun ammunition. That is not to say the pistol calibers aren't lethal, just the margin for error is smaller compared to long guns. I carry a 40SW because the ammunition I use has more kinetic energy than any 9MM or 45 Auto ammo I've found, and I don't find the recoil is worse than either 9MM or 45 Auto personal defense loads. I would suggest trying different pistols in different calibers at a range that rents them, and get some professional instruction on how to operate a handgun properly. Pick the caliber/pistol you are most comfortable with and practice, practice, practice.

The 2 failures with the Walther 45 is concerning. What type of ammo were you using when the Walther had the FTE's ..... If it was left over Freedom Munitions Ammo, we have had 4 or 5 FTE with 9mm in the last 15 or 20 days. The Sig Ammo has been been there to finish up the video, and we were lucky to have enough to finish the VR's in all 3 videos that experienced this. I know I’m late to the party but I just saw this video for the first time. I had struggled for a while trying to decide between the M&P45 2.0 and the PPQ M2 45. The pandemic helped me make my mind up a couple of weeks ago. I own 3 M&P9s and 1 PPQ 2 9mm. I love them all. Hence my struggle choosing a new 45. How did the pandemic help me decide? Ammo availability. I ended up with some cheap Russian ammo in 9mm. My girls and I were having a shoot around day. I decided to shoot up some of the cheap ammo instead of running through my good stuff. My PPQ 9mm had the exact same issue as the 45 in the video with FTE multiple times. I understand that I was shooting cheap ammo but you weren’t. Not to mention all three M&P that we shot that day had zero issues with the same ammo. We were shooting two different version 1 shields and a 2.0 15 round compact. Again, all three M&Ps ate the ammo with zero issues. I absolutely love the PPQ ergonomics and trigger. I also love my M&P9 2.0. That day of shooting helped me make my decision. You having the same FTE issue with the PPQ 45 while shooting decent ammo solidifies my decision. I still have and love shooting my PPQ but I will carry my M&P.

I guess that means I did my job - I try not to be obviously in favor of one over another in most cases. My objective is to provide realistic information, along with my subjective opinions about each gun and let the viewer decide which might be more to their liking. In this case, I will confess that I prefer the M&P.

    Great very informative video
I just bought PPQ m2 45, gonna come to my local academy store next week. A bit confused at the description on their website, it says that the mag capacity is 10 rounds. Meanwhile everywhere else I looked, including waltherarms site, states that it has 12 round magazine.

They probably have Cali compliant mags with it. Just buy the 12 rounders, and you're good to go.

On the real this is a self defense gun all yall in the comments keep talking about more rounds the average gun fight is 5-8 rounds people. If it gets more hectic then that get the rifle!!! A handgun is not a rwol or shtf go to weapon its a rifle!! As long as you stay calm and breath that gun fight GOD forbid wont last as long. That smitty will eat any ammo hands down. I had a few smitties they don't die. And that walther has to much recoil to be a 45. I own a couple 45s that don't jump like that. But its probably managable. I like the smitty.

I've had a PPQ 45 for almost 3 years. Guessing around 600 rounds, I love it but the trigger pull could be shorter. I'm still not used to it. I've carried a colt 1911 for 19 years, seems it got heavier every year.
Is it possible to shorten the trigger pull on the PPQ ?

I don't own a PPQ but have dry fired several in gun shops. I always noticed they have a very long initial trigger take-up, even compared to my Glock or Springfield XD. Very few of these gun videos ever mention that though.

While recently shopping and deciding between a Sig P320, S&W M&P or a PPQ in 45acp, a Springfield XDm-10 4.5 caught my attention and I came home with my first 10mm. The XDm carries 15+1 with more fire power than a 45 and, so far, it's been flawless. The only problem is that finding affordable 10mm ammo for it is like 22LR was a couple years ago, and I'll have to resort to mail order. If/when Sig makes a P320 10mm I'll be in the front of the line.

    • @flipgunderson1946

@@sigfan574 10mm is easy to find my area at least and I live in rural Maine. Of course, you can always order online as well. I'd recommend Sig Sauer 180gr ball for range ammo. It isn't the cheapest but it's not watered down & it's the same power level as their 10mm V-Crown JHP's. Once you start buying cheap 10mm you're getting .40s&w ballistics. If it's a defensive gun, you should train for the same recoil impulse as your carry ammo.

@@SoccerVJ2011 You are correct, however, the XDm 10mm is becoming more popular and people that shoot it end up giving up their G20s. The XDm 10mm can fire any ammo without problems, while the Glock 10mm tend to have issues with hard cast ammo.

So everyone's hands are shaped differently from person to person along with shooting skill level. That being said I prefer the Walter PPQ M2 9mm which I own along with the PPS M2 9mm walthers sub compact. Ive never had a f.t.e. I ve shot an older model M&P 9mm and disliked the trigger. My trigger finger doesn't like the curved shape. As i was aiming at my target and squeezing the trigger my finger would slide down the trigger which then caused me to lose concentration on my sight picture. Personally for me again not everbody that was a Major no go. I was an expert marksman with the M-16 in the Army. One of the practice exercises we did to learn proper/controlled trigger squeeze was to place a penny on top of the barrel past the front sight and dry fire the weapon. If you had proper squeeze on the trigger the penny would remain on top of the barrel. Any slight deviation from placing the trigger not on the pad of the finger but on the joint penny falls, jerking the trigger obviously penny falls. Anyways learning proper trigger squeeze, proper breathing, sight picture etc. Helped me to make Expert qual. Bottom line with handguns try to shoot a few different manufacturers models by either renting them or having a friend who owns what your interested in letting you shoot theirs.
