  • Surface Crochet has really nothing to do with physical construction of a project, it's more just for the look. Like applying lipstick to lips, it's just added afterwards. This technique is great for giving projects an added kick of features to change the ordinary to extraordinary.
    This type of technique is great for yarn bombing and yarn artistry. #crochet #learntocrochet #crochettutorial .

    Youre the first video of surface crochet that shows how to finish it! Thank you!!!

    At 6:13 in the video, if you insert your needle down into the middle of the previous stitch instead of under it, it will look perfect. It's called an invisible join.

    This is the third video I've watched on surface crochet and the only one so far that shows a way to deal with the ends. That is very helpful. Thank you.

    OMGosh this is so amazing that you have this tutorial. It's not surprising that I would find it on your channel. You truly make my crocheting life so much easier and more enjoyable. I always learn so much from you. I had know idea how to do this and I have a baby blanket that I want to add a name to. Thanks to you, Mikey, I have been saved! lol

    This is essentially tambour, a pretty old embroidery/lacemaking technique. As an old lacemaker, I've seen this, but it never occurred to me to use it on crochet, so this was great! Funny thing: I'm a lefty, but I crochet right-handed. When I tried your technique, I couldn't do it right-handed. I had to switch hands. Hey,,whatever works, right? Using this to do a videogame-themed (Fallout) afghan for my son.

    The finishing trick with the darning needle was great. I am starting to unravel how across the forms of making loops (crochet, knitting, embroidery, sewing) I can create many simulations of the loop using a different method than the bulk of the fabric.

    Hi. Thanks for this. Still learning to crochet so this is quite helpful. I'd tried this with a needle thinking the yarn was not meant to show behind. It did not look very pretty 😀 now I know better.
    Do feel all better soon. Sending you love & hugs 😃

      C'est sympa, mais si on ne veut pas avoir cet effet ligné derrière, il serait mieux de faire de la broderie avec une aiguille . Nettement plus élégant et une finition des plus propres .

    I use a needle join where I go through the 1st stitch and then dive down through the middle of the last chain and finish off on the back side with a square knot with the starting tail, then weave the ends in. . It is totally invisible.

    How do you crochet a letter such as a little "r"? Do you stop & get another piece of yarn to farm the extended piece?

  • @tenathomas2001
    @tenathomas2001 2 года назад

    Ok, what if I started out Crocheting a Granny Square and just kept on going and changed colors every 2 -3 rows.
    But mine is not that tight and close together.. That is why I am so confused on how to put the Letter T in the Lower Right Corner.
    Tena

      Is there any other hosts that show how to do surface overlays with the alphabet? You may want to try another host to see if they have options. Just search on RUclips. I don’t know of any other hosts that demonstrate each letter specifically.

      Sylvia Watts some vets and shelters have said its better to not use yarn for donated blankets since they don't always clean well or hold up to cat usage. One shelter recommended quilted or sewing was better. You might want to make a super simple granny square and just keep going around till you get an estimated kennel size. That giant granny square seems to hold up to my cats usage.

      I've seen recently some videos about crocheting pet blankets, I'm not sure what they are labeled as exactly, but if you search 'crochet pet (or dog or cat) blanket', they should come up.

    How would I do the letter T

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  2 года назад

      Same way... but you won't go onto the same spaces shown here. You will just form it in the vertical with the posts for the leg of the T. Just play with it.
