    THANK you you are the only one who has shown me the back side so I understand that I can still use the blanket reversibly

      Yes exactly!! And she even shows the stitches from the side view. All those other channels that don't show the back is pointless to me. 😊

    This is a great video! Should have more likes. I was specifically looking for something to help with my amigurumi, so I'm glad you mentioned it here, too.

    Thank you for the detailed explanation. Glad you compared the different techniques. I was having issues starting surface stitches and the way you explained it, it just made so much more sense. 🧶

    Hmmm. Instead of just for design, surface SC could help me achieve some shapes that I’ve been thinking about. Good to know.

    Great video! Others touched on this but just to be clear, can you add ANY letter, to add names, for example,( in either print or cursive) and have it turn out neatly, do you think? Because I’m always trying to jam my hook through ‘wherever’ & not in the holes but it’s not ideal as I’m trying to do it.
    Love to hear your thoughts. 😀

      I think you could make any letter or design you wanted as long as you planned it out in advance. Graph paper won't quite work to plan it because every other row of crochet is offset, sort of like bricks on a wall. And keep in mind that stitches can only go horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. Draw it out ahead of time and I'm sure you can make any letter you want!

    Do you have any suggestions on how to add this to a star blanket? I want to add something around the beginning circle. It's not a nice and neat like one done in a row. Thanks.

      Hi there! My recommendation would be to put a pin in the spaces where you would want to work a surface stitch and see if you can create the image or writing you are trying to achieve with just pins in each space. You can use that to get as close to it as possible, considering that the lines will not be as straight. But this will give you more control in the planning of the design.

    Can you use your method to put the letter T lower right corner on a Granny Square blanket that I am doing for my new Granddaughter that is due anytime

    Hi there. I love your stuff. I'm just trying to o the belly scales for Vincent the dragon but can't figure it out. Do you do the outlining across before you attach the belly scales then crochet around the edges to fasten to belly? Or is it talk done at once

    • @HookedbyKati
      @HookedbyKati  Год назад

      You do the outline on the belly scales and use the outline to make a nice, clean attachment for the belly scales.

    ive done a tapestry in HDC and was looking to clean up the design on it with surface crochet, will surface crochet work where i used hdc instead of sc?

    • @HookedbyKati
      @HookedbyKati  9 месяцев назад +1

      It should work, yes. Just keep in mind the stitches are farther apart, so you might need to loose your tension so your surface stitches don't scrunch your hdcs.

    What stitch patterns work for the original piece so that we can make letters onto it?

    • @HookedbyKati
      @HookedbyKati  11 месяцев назад +1

      It's just single crochet all the way across. :)

    Can this be done with a double crochet pattern if send me an example

    • @HookedbyKati
      @HookedbyKati  6 месяцев назад

      You can easily do it with a double crochet pattern as your base piece. Simply work around the posts of the dcs just like you work around the posts of the scs in this video.

  • @gailrochowiak5246

    Can you surface stitch on a double or half double stitch?

    • @HookedbyKati
      @HookedbyKati  2 года назад +1

      Absolutely! Just keep in mind that you will need less tension if the holes between stitches are far apart, or you could accidentally squish your work and mess with the gauge of your piece. :)
