I've been trying to figure out how to do this stitch for years ,never dawned on me to make a mesh back.I always tried it on just double crochet never double chain one. I really don't know why I never thought of that,lol, this is one of those moments you slap yourself on your forehead and go duuh!! Thank you so much.
As a "mostly knitter/ somewhat crochet-er" I didn't think I'd be able to do this stitch...after the video though..and I say THANK you Robin :)....I've got it and I'm so going to do a black mesh with a rainbow variegated yarn

I watched this yesterday morning, and started on making a blanket for a grandbaby due in a few months. It is such an easy and relaxing crochet. I'm a little way past halfway through the main part and had to really pressure myself to not start on the coloured bit yet! 😄😄

The texture on this will make great dish clothes. This will be fun to make up a bunch for extra gifts as add on presents for Christmas. Im thinking a blanket using this & make the chain overlay diagonal would be amazing! Even though we all love crochet, a stich like this that is fun to do & has so many variations makes crochet seem fresh & new. As always thanks so much!
