    This was a really cute idea, thank you for sharing it w/us! I'm sorry it didn't work out as well as you hoped. Maybe you can try it again for us! My suggestions would be to always pre-press your items, almost everything will have some sort of moisture in it. Bamboo utensils & cutting boards are usually rubbed down in some kind of oil I believe it is to make it look nicer. Unfortunately, house paint doesn't hold up to high heat like that. I would suggest trying chalk board paint. I have used it to paint signs white then put the thermal laminate on top, then subbed on the laminate & the chalk paint did very well. I think heat resistant spray paint (like the kind you use on a grill) should work too but I haven't gotten around to getting any.

    It's nice to see that not everyone's projects on You Tube come out perfect...thanks for being human and showing the video. Would love to see how you do get this to work.

    Have to ask once you start Sublimation you won’t want to go back to vinyl is this true

    • @TheWesleys
      @TheWesleys  2 года назад

      Hey! In some ways yes 😄. No more weeding lol! Just print and press for 50 seconds. Done. 🙌🏽 Sublimation on shirts is Con bc you’re limited to white/light colored shirts. Unless you do the long process of sub on certain vinyls.
      Sublimating tumblers and other items are perfect and addicting 👌🏽✨

      @@TheWesleys we have dark sun paper so you can do dark shirts. But I have not done sub yet just been watching people do it. So I can learn. Ty for your reply back. Have a nice day.

    The only way to fail is to never try.

    Use high heat white spray paint, let dry for 24 hours then Poly acrylic let dry for 24 hours. The paper might stick just rub off with wet sponge.

    I wonder if dipping them would have been too much paint? .Too thick, too long to dry? I tried bamboo before too, but I think it was coated with something. I also tried the lamination sheet trick. Total fail! I got some raw edge wood slabs from Hobby Lobby, painted the polyacrylic and it turned out amazing! It does stick a little bit but I just used a damp rag and wiped it off and it was great! I haven't tried with paint before though but I like the idea. I just wonder if it would work because you have to wipe off the sub paper? Adorable idea!!

      Hey! Yes I was thinking it would be thick dipping it in paint too… 🥸😀 I thought it would be so cute with white paint and the name for real 🤣 I think I will try just polycrylic with no paint. I was just so excited for the white handles look lol!

    • @kjoscrappinmama
      @kjoscrappinmama 2 года назад +1

      @@TheWesleys Oh it would be so cute with white handles. Did they have non-bamboo? Or maybe press first to draw out moisture before painting? I might also try letting the paint dry a lot longer. Then put several coats of Polyacrylic before pressing? Don't give up, there HAS to be a way!!!!

      @@kjoscrappinmama I sanded them down this morning really well and going to try drying them out somehow 😂 Maybe less paint and more polycrylic, 380 for 50sec. Lol!
