Roger. Just did 18 of them and the turned out amazing. Just wanted to let you know that I transferred the rapidtac liquid to a small spray bottle (from dollar tree) and it works so much better. No waste and it is just enough for the vinyl to adhere to. No excess comes off the glass as it’s JUST ENOUGH.

Hi Roger I think I’m having a senior moment!!! I’ve watched the video twice and still can’t get my head around it (senior moment). The 651 is stuck to the glass then the print is placed on the 651 (ink side to 651). Then heat pressed. This I understand. Did I maybe heat them too long with my heat press....did the 385 degrees for 190 seconds? I used the same paper. Do you have any suggestions for removing the excess paper? Thanks great video
I am going to try this with my easy press 2. Did you ever do a video on the Easy Press on glass cutting boards? I can’t thank you enough for your calm, easy going videos!
Hi, one more question: I notice you have a Teflon sheet attached to the top plate of your heat press. Why did you do that? I’ve been watching your videos on heat presses and you didn’t mention that.
Just did a video on that: ruclips.net/video/RY6RpIY81jw/видео.html Still looking at other things, but this takes a long time since each experiment needs to sit for several months.
I tried to find the answer before asking… so far no luck. Question: do you have to have that spray to adhere the vinyl to the glass? And btw this is the BEST tutorial out there. So many others were super confusing. Thank you for your reply.
Thank you so much for this video. I watched it twice I think I have it down pat. Heading out to see if I can find the cutting boards. You did a great job explaining everything. Well watch all of your videos that you come out with. 👍😊
I live in MN and searched several stores. Only found a few of the ones with designs on them already - BUT if you soak them a bit it is easy to take a razor blade or knife to the paper/vinyl (not sure what they used, almost like a coated paper) and remove it. I tried to order from Dollar Tree website but no clear ones in stock there either when I checked last night, but they have a variety pack that has some clear and some designed. I did my first one the other day after watching this video and it was so easy!
Hi Roger. Love your videos all the way from Australia. Just a quick question. What can I use instead if Rapid Tack? We don't have that here. Can I use just water down dishwashing liquid in a squirt bottle?
I did one today but little light but think had wrong temp. I got feet off and bought some gorilla glue and I touched it and my fingers stuck together. Finally got apart some strong stuff. Thank you love this and will make more.
Vinyl will deform and melt when done the other way and if you move at all while pressing, the vinyl will shift on the glass. Plus, you can't see if the graphic transferred completely without taking it off the mat, which is necessary when using an Easy press since you can't accurately control the pressure. This CAN be done with an Easy Press, but it is not the best way since it requires heavy pressure for an extended period of time and there is a risk of moving while trying to put this much pressure on, resulting in ghosting of the image.
Thank you so much for the video. We tried this and it works but the colours aren't as vibrant as yours, very muted with a cloudy effect. We pressed for 190secs 3 times and no difference to the colour transfer. We have a sawgrass sub printer and printed on glass settings. Any advice in getting the picture to be vibrant in colour?
I do not have a Sawgrass printer, so not experience with settings on one. I do know that setting paper type on an Epson makes a huge difference as well as turning off high speed print and setting to best quality. For paper type (Using A-Sub paper), I set it to Premium Presentation Paper Matte.
You said in the video you cut the vinyl 7.70 x 7.70 whether it's square or round. What size is the image you are sublimating? I noticed you had a border all around.
Size of image depends on what it is and the desired result. I don't always make it the full dimension of the vinyl. I do leave a .05" border around the edges of glass. This pretty much prevent little fingers from trying to peel off the vinyl. when making a full coverage graphic, I often make it 8" to make sure there are no white edges.
Hi. I have a question: would you like tell me what vinyl do you use to do it, it is permanent vinyl , oracle or any other please thank you so much to create videos for us.
Only one of my first 6 or so tries came out without random blotches (maybe they’re gaps between the glass and vinyl). I didn’t see any bubbles after using the Rapid Tac and squeegeeing, so I’m hoping you have an idea of what’s going wrong?. Thank you!
I noticed on one of your other videos you wound up with some cutting boards that were clear non-textured I was wondering if you choose them yet and how they came out
I haven't used them yet, but know that the results will be the same as with the textured. I've sublimated to vinyl on plain glass before. Dollar Tree picture frames are a good cheap source. Just keep in mind that the glass used there is about half the thickness of regular single strength glass. Easy to break..........
@@mrgrinch61 Most of our 8 x 8 cutting boards are marketed toward the home-bar-type setting. They are perfect for cutting up fruit for mixed drinks. A little small for kitchen use. The surface, whether textured or not, I guess will depend on the customer. I would think that the clear would show scratches more than the textured.
starting at 8:24 .. based on what you did.. you placed the glass with the vinyl side onto the art work (which was not mirrored) and then put it on the heat press... the resulting image would be backwards in text and image.. am I seeing it wrong?? I have watched it 3 times and trying to figure out how it came out properly.. anyone please seeing this or is it just me??
It is not backwards as it passes through the vinyl and is viewed through the glass. Had the image been mirrored first, it would then appear backwards as viewed through the glass.
Hi Roger, I need help. Last year I put together a couple dozen of these glass cutting boards. I followed your process and same materials (Dollar Tree glass cutting boards, Oracle 651, A-Sub paper, Hiipoo Ink, Epson 2720 printer and RapidTac), no problem. I have a few left over and thought one might make a nice hostess gift this weekend. However, when I pulled one out, the print had blurred badly when looking through the glass. The reverse side is clear and sharp, but what shows through the front is very blurry. Do you have any suggestions for future trivets? Have you had this problem? Thanks
If I use clear vinyl will the glass stay clear on parts where there’s not a picture? For example, if I want to do a 2x2 photo on a 4x4 plaque, will the plaque still be translucent where the photo isn’t applied? And the same for words. If I print out text on a sub printer and apply to acrylic, it’s always translucent. But, I want to keep the acrylic translucent and only opaque where my text and/or photo is.
Yes, it will stay translucent, or clear, depending on the type of vinyl used. Some are crystal clear and some not-quite-so-much. I'm going to be making a video soon on sublimating to clear vinyl over glass.
love your video..question how did u get your writing to read correct? i made one and the writing is backwards... thank you for your time...how did u mirror the image via cricut or what? for writing to be correct when u turned it over
I do not mirror graphics in this process as they are applied to the back and pass though to be viewed from the front. If you mirror the graphic here, it will appear backwards when viewed from the front.
I have been using the laminate sheet process for my cutting boards. Now all of a sudden my laminate is wrinkling. Any idea what could be causing this. It was never an issue before. Thank you..
It seems a bit "counter-intuitive" to me if I'm following correctly: The white vinyl is BETWEEN the glass and the print . . . and when heat-pressed, the image shows through the vinyl? And the vinyl you are using has no adhesive on it other than the Rapid Tac?
To answer the first question: Yes. For the second, the vinyl certainly does have adhesive. The Rapid Tac allows easy positioning. To see this process step by step, watch this video- ruclips.net/video/_v9yPE4MpVc/видео.html&ab_channel=Roger%27sShop
I have never made any thing like this, I am interested in making some for my organization. My question is, what sort of sticker can I use or where can I order custom made stickers for this project? I have searched but am not even sure what I am looking for in ordering stickers.
These are not stickers. You will need a sublimation printer with sublimation ink, a heat press, and permanent outdoor vinyl, such as Oracle 651. For the graphics, you can either make your own or have someone design them for you.
hoping you have a suggestion. I'm following your instructions and my images don't always come out crisp and bright, they are dull and light in color. Any help or advice you have is appreciated.
Yes and I have done this. 385 degrees F for 190 seconds with HEAVY pressure, so really lean on it! Be very careful not to let the easy press move or your image may ghost.
Hi Roger thanks for the tutorial my vinyl keeps coming up and not adhering g to the round .. so you have any suggestions as to what this is happening .. I used rapid tac squeegee it and let it sit for 20min pressed for 10 min to tac down the vinyl pressed for 90 min
Let dry for 30 minutes- 1 hour after squeegee. Press with vinyl at bottom, graphics facing up for 180 seconds at 385 degrees. Do not hot peel. Let cool to the touch. Wet paper surface, let set 3-4 minutes, remove paper. Works 100% of the time. No pre-press.
You can also use plain water. NO soap. Do not use Windex as it will affect the adhesive. Use of windex to clean the glass is fine, but do not use it to position the vinyl.
Hi Roger, can you use any other white? matt vinyl?? and I messed up my first sublimation onto a glass frame, is there a way to remove the sublimation ink? or is it a bust?? thank you
A couple of questions. 1) how did you print from cricut with the black cut line around image? 2) does the sublimanation show through the white vinyl, so you see it from the otherside/top of cutting glass? And is that permanent vinyl?
I do not print from Cricut Design Space. I only use the Cricut to cut the vinyl. I use Inkscape for most of my graphic designs. The sublimation transfer passes through the vinyl and is seen from the front. Yes, use permanent vinyl. (NOT HTV)
Image is on the bottom, facing up, against the vinyl with glass above it. Step by step here: ruclips.net/video/_v9yPE4MpVc/видео.html&ab_channel=Roger%27sShop
Hey Mr. Roger. I'm trying to learn this process but I have a small problem. When I measure something.... say that Square cutting board....I am not the best at reading a tape measure, but when I do get say 2 inches and 6 lines past....I don't know how to translate that in to a decimal for my cricut. I know I may sound dumb, I just don't know how. Do you know any tips that may help me learn to measure and translate to decimal? Thank you so much and any time you take to answer would be greatly greatly appreciated.
Plain water (good, pure water) also works, just not as well. Make SURE you let this dry before pressing or you will get blisters as any residual water will flash to steam.
I love this! I’ve been trying to figure out how to sublimate on glass. Yours is the best! I just wonder how to cut sizes with Cricut? Ps very good explanation.
Yes. Just keep in mind that when using clear, the color of what-ever it is sitting on will affect the image color. I've done this on plain glass with a lit back light and it looks pretty striking.
Have you ever had issues with the ink spreading over time? Seems like when I press the images they’re crisp but about a month later they start to blur slightly. I’m using oracle 561.
We buy them direct at the Dollar Tree website. 24 to a case and they are delivered to a local Dollar Tree store, and we pick them up. Since I go though so many, the stores would never have enough in stock for our purpose.
Good morning. I have a quick question. How do i prevent my images to not stick to my laminate sheet once pressed? I have made tons of these boards now all of a sudden the paper is wanting to stick to the laminate sheet. Thanks for any suggestions you might have to fix this problem.
@@rogersshop Okay thank you. Someone also said there was moisture in the paper and put it under the heat for a few seconds to dry it some. Is that a good idea? Thanks for all your help.
Yes, infusible ink works as well on sublimation paper. I did not show how the design was done as this is a copyright protected graphic that I have purchased the rights to. The fonts and text were my design using a designer program from Dane Graphics. They have some very neat graphics, available by membership, but the subscription is NOT cheap.
Hi, Roger! I have a project of sublimating an image onto cast clear acrylic. The person I am doing this for wants a white background to make the colors pop. Do you think the method in your video would work as well (with a few adjustments because it's acrylic)? All I have seen is direct to the acrylic, which leaves it clear. Any suggestions? Thanks!
If it were me, I'd place white permanent vinyl on the back after doing the image to the front. Acrylic is subject to warping and clouding under heat, so be careful.
I have made these two different ways. I find that when i use the vinyl method and peel off the image once cooled it leaves a white film on the backside of the board image. Any way to avoid this?
I followed your instructions step by step but I used cricut white permanent vinyl And it still will not come through. So does oracle 651 the only vinyl that works.
I have also used the Cricut vinyl and it works the same. Check your temperature settings and the time/pressure on the heat press. I use Oracle 651 because it costs less per foot.

@@anarobello7505 Sublimation ink looks that way. Blacks appear gray and other colors seem washed out. I just shot a video today (not posted yet) on how to recover a clogged Epson 2720 sublimation printer that had not been used for many months and explained during the shoot about the colors being "different". Some suggestions: Under printer preferences, turn OFF high speed printing. Use high quality. Set paper to "Premium Presentation Matte" for sublimation paper. We use A-Sub and HiIPoo papers. If left to high speed printing, it does not saturate the paper as well since it uses fewer "lines". The video I shot today should get posted later this week. It isn't edited yet.

I use Rapid Tac to position vinyl graphics on different surfaces as it allows repositioning easily if you don't get it on straight the first time. Plain (clean) water also works, but not quite as well.
Yes, but two things- You will need a backlit background and it is not as permanent as the vinyl. Also, not UV resistant, so keep it out of direct sun or it will yellow and peel.
@@rogersshop I think I'll just use the 651, I'd seen that someone painted the back and I really don't want to deal with that. Your system looks much easier. I will have to use a Cricut Easy Press as that is all I have so I'll have to figure out the time/temp for it. Thank you for your response!

I have watched it 3 times and trying to figure out how it came out properly.. anyone please seeing this or is it just me??
It is not backwards as it passes through the vinyl and is viewed through the glass. Had the image been mirrored first, it would then appear backwards as viewed through the glass.

I thought the vinyl was white!! I am kind of new to this and trying to comprehend as much as possible.

Amazing! Thank you! I'll be trying this today! Just normal, permanent vinyl yeah?
Any good quality permanent outdoor vinyl. We use Oracle 651 and 751
Hi Roger, I need help. Thanks
Yes, it can happen: ruclips.net/video/RY6RpIY81jw/видео.html&ab_channel=Roger%27sShop
Thank you! Thanks for being real too!

Thank you..
Stick to name brand, like 3M
Thanks for the tips I also sub onto glass also .can you explain how to setup the square cut of the oracle on cameo?
I don't use a Cameo, but 7.75" square is all I use on my Cricut.
What kind of vinyl is this one? Thanks for your videos
Oracle 651. Permanent outdoor vinyl.
Not enough pressure and/or time too short and/or bed not pre heated.
Great video. Can you use a Cricut easy press. If so what temperature and for how long. Thanks
Yes and I have done this. 385 degrees F for 190 seconds with HEAVY pressure, so really lean on it! Be very careful not to let the easy press move or your image may ghost.
Thanks will give it a try
Is there another product I can use instead of Rapid Tac on my glass. Will Windex work. Thanks
You can also use plain water. NO soap. Do not use Windex as it will affect the adhesive. Use of windex to clean the glass is fine, but do not use it to position the vinyl.
Hi Roger, can you use any other white? matt vinyl?? and I messed up my first sublimation onto a glass frame, is there a way to remove the sublimation ink? or is it a bust?? thank you
Yes, you can use matte. To remove the vinyl, heat it up and scrape. It comes off pretty easy that way
A couple of questions.
(NOT HTV)
So my question is the sublimation image on top of the white vinyl that was heated to the glass?
Image is on the bottom, facing up, against the vinyl with glass above it. Step by step here: ruclips.net/video/_v9yPE4MpVc/видео.html&ab_channel=Roger%27sShop
May I ask a silly question please. Why did you put your vinyl through the cricket and what did you cut into the vinyl
Cuts it to size very accurately. It just cuts the shape, whether square or round.
I have a question. Is the white Vinyl and the image on the same side? I would assume so but I just want to be sure.
Yes.
Your demos are awesome. Thank you
How long does the picture stay clear. Someone said the picture doesn't stay clear for a long time. Just curious. Thanks.

Hey Mr.
Great video can I use anything other than rapid tack
Plain water (good, pure water) also works, just not as well. Make SURE you let this dry before pressing or you will get blisters as any residual water will flash to steam.
I love this! I’ve been trying to figure out how to sublimate on glass. Yours is the best! I just wonder how to cut sizes with Cricut? Ps very good explanation.
Within Cricut Design Space, you can create pretty much any size or shape, then save project for reuse.
This is great. Thank You. Can you use Oracle 651 clear for this?
It can happen: ruclips.net/video/RY6RpIY81jw/видео.html
@@rogersshop of course you had a video about it already! I looked but couldn’t find it. Appreciate the response and all your help!
Love your tutorials
Where do you buy the cutting boards or plates?
I couldn’t find any at the dollar stores?
Thank you
We buy them direct at the Dollar Tree website. 24 to a case and they are delivered to a local Dollar Tree store, and we pick them up. Since I go though so many, the stores would never have enough in stock for our purpose.
Would it be easier to sublimate the vinyl before applying it ?
No. Just adding another step and sublimation direct to vinyl can have its own issues without a solid backing.
Good morning. I have a quick question. How do i prevent my images to not stick to my laminate sheet once pressed? I have made tons of these boards now all of a sudden the paper is wanting to stick to the laminate sheet. Thanks for any suggestions you might have to fix this problem.
It happens. Just drop into water after it has cooled and the paper falls right off.
@@rogersshop Okay thank you. Someone also said there was moisture in the paper and put it under the heat for a few seconds to dry it some. Is that a good idea? Thanks for all your help.
Do you have to use vinyl? Thank you for the video, so awesome!!
You cannot sublimate dye to plain glass. It does not bond. A substrate is required.
@@rogersshop, got it. Thank you
Thanks for all of your information.
Does the Rapid Tac wash easily out of towels - or do I have some 'splaining to do to my wife?
Yes. I use several towels and it washes out quite easily.
Awesome! what about using infusible ink. How did you do the design? You didn't show how to do the design?
Yes, infusible ink works as well on sublimation paper. I did not show how the design was done as this is a copyright protected graphic that I have purchased the rights to. The fonts and text were my design using a designer program from Dane Graphics. They have some very neat graphics, available by membership, but the subscription is NOT cheap.
Did I see correctly that you pressed with the bare glass side up?
Correct
Is it showing thru the vinyl? Wasn't the vinyl first then the image behind it? The vinyl was white right?
To see this process step by step, watch this video, it will answer your questions- ruclips.net/video/_v9yPE4MpVc/видео.html&ab_channel=Roger%27sShop
@@rogersshop thank you
The 651 you are using has an adhesive back right?
Correct
@@rogersshop Thank you for your input! I enjoy watching your videos!
Would I need to/be able to use the Rapid Tac to place the vinyl?
@@amyjones8170 Would be my preference, but plain water also works.
What’s the rapid tack for and is there something you can use instead?
Allows positioning and eliminates air bubbles after squeegee. Plain water can also be used. Do not add any soap or you will get spots.
I know you mentioned oracle but can I use cricut permanent if that's all I have?
Yes. Works as well.
I have made these two different ways. I find that when i use the vinyl method and peel off the image once cooled it leaves a white film on the backside of the board image. Any way to avoid this?
No. But, washes off with plain water very easy.
Thank you for responding.
I had the wrong ink. Just tried it again and it came out just right. Then you again
Nice demo. Is the vinyl permanent or will it peel off?
Permanent. It "can" be removed, but not easily.
Just found your channel. Good stuff man!

Happens sometimes: ruclips.net/video/RY6RpIY81jw/видео.html

Roger I made the mistake of getting Rapid Prep instead of Rapid Tac. Will the Prep work the same as Tac?
No. This will react with the vinyl adhesive. I've used Rapid Prep to remove adhesive before re-cleaning with Rapid Tac.

I just need to know if the vinyl in the links is correct??? It says not for sublimation...

Brilliant tutorial. One question: can I sublimate onto the white vinyl then attach to the glass or will that ruin the adhesive?
Vinyl will deform if heat is applied without a firm backing such as the glass. Best to have it on the glass first.
Hi Roger, loved your video. A quick question, would thermal laminating sheets work like the 651? Just curious!
