Hi Vanessa! Great video, thanks! A quicker tip for importing the pdf is to just drag your pdf from your explorer file (windows) to your inkscape canvas. This brings up the pdf import window in one step rather than the 2 or 3.
OMG thanks for this tip! I can’t wait to try it 😅
If you uncheck show page border and show uncheck border shadow that mark in the middle will not show I found this very useful for myself. I have some patterns from Mood as well and I also go back to the site and save an image of the pattern in the pdf and svg so I know what I looks like. I hope that makes sense. Thank you! There is another gal in the group that does these as well. She doesn't talk in her videos so I found yours very useful. Thank you
Oh great tips thanks for sharing!
This was great thank you for taking the time to make this video. Very helpful!
You are so welcome!
Thanks this was very clear, precise and very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for such a clear and calm explanation. Great video.
Thank you so much!
Wonderful video!!! Thank you for this!!
You are so welcome!
Thank you,you are great ❤️
This tutorial was EXCELLENT!! I'm relatively new to projector sewing and i LOVE it.. sadly not all of the patterns I have are available as a projector format :( Do you project right from inkscape? Did you have to calibrate a new zoom percentage (vs projecting from adobe?).. i've got some projects coming up that i'd love to use my projector for!
Thanks so much! Welcome to projector sewing! A tip to remember is that you can use patterns that have AO format to project from they don’t need to be projector format specifically. Projector format is definitely nice to have but not a deal breaker. Once I make changes in Inkscape I make sure that I’ve kept the 1” (sometimes different measurements depending on brand) calibration markings somewhere in the file and just save as pdf. You can then open in Adobe and check the calibration marking while projecting and it’s is accurate you’re good to go!
Oh my Venessa, You are easy for me to follow, please keep up the good work. I am just a beginner so I need to know all of it.. your amazing, so exited, I found someone that does not talk to fast and tells the basics , like snap nodes, for us that know NOTHING. So my pattern only has the pattern pieces to print out ,there is nothing like your page 1 showing what is on your sheets and how to layer them , does that make sense?
Oh yes this does make sense. In this case you may need to do a little bit of work and puzzle them together. I would import all the pages and then try to get all the pieces to match up. Best of luck and thank you for watching!
Thank you for the clear tutorial. If you don't mind my question: Shouldn't there be some margin in the A0 paper? Because I can that some parts of the pattern touch the paper edge. I've never printed A0 so not sure if the printer can handle that.
Thanks for posting this, so glad for open source software! I have a couple of 40-50 pg patterns that I want to send to have printed but didn't come with copyshop versions. Do you have any advice for re-organizing pattern pieces to fit to exactly A0 size to print on a plotter? Or how to create a pdf that has multiple A0 pages?
Also, if you're interested Marta Gvozdinskaya has a video for creating a script that a allows you to import all pages simultaneously. Not sure if it works with all operating systems, but it was pretty slick in Ubuntu.
I believe you can set the page parameters to AO in the page settings. Let me have a look to be sure and I’ll respond back with more info.
Yes! I have just started using the software and I love it 💖 such a time saver.
thank you so much for this video. thanks to doing this I realised the patter I bought has some misplaced lines. thanks again
edit: I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't resize the proyect, when I try to select all the pages (as you did in the video) instead of selecting the border of the pages as a whole it just selects random pages of the pattern.
In that case try to select as much as you can like you did, then hold the shift key and manually select anything that was missed until everything is selected. You should be able to adjust the page size then. 🤗 let me know if that helps!
Thank you for doing this video! It was very helpful to me! Could you share how to make one size line bolder to be easier to see when projecting? I have my nodes selected but I can't seem to find how to make the line thicker! Thank you!
I will try!
This was a very very helpful and easy to for! Thank you so much! 🙌🏾
Is there a way to add layers to a pattern also?
I’m glad this was helpful! Unfortunately in Inkscape there is not a way to add layers. You can however save multiple versions of the same pattern and hide layers so that you have one layer isolated at a time.
This was very helpful! I ordered a McCall's digital pattern and didn't realize that it didn't come in AO format. I did have some trouble however, I'm working on a MacBook air, and I think the version of Inkscape that I have isn't quite the same as yours. I wasn't able to find a "lock nodes" button and wasn't sure if I was lining it all up. Then, of course, I did something, and lost my pattern completely! Even though I was saving it through out. Back to the drawing board, right?
Did you figure this out? I'm struggling now
When I saved as pdf and opened it just had the box. No pattern pieces I had tiled together. What may make that happen?
Yes, any time you save you should use the arrow tool to select all the pattern pieces. Just click and hold and make a large square around everything you want saved. Then save as a pdf. 😊
@@TheeBeautyDoctor thank you for your reply. Still has only page numbers but not actual pattern pieces.
comment fait un plan de coupe ?
Hi, your video is very helpful. I just have a question.
A0 is 4x4 A4.
So this is bigger than A0? I want to print my pattern on A0 paper. How can I do that?
You can select the AO paper size to make sure it will fit and then send it to be printed. There are websites that will do it (I haven’t done this) or you can take it to a print shop like FedEx and such to be printed as well.
Could you please help me? After resizing I tried to hover over sizes but instead it moves tiles. What am I doing wrong? Thank you
Do you have all the tiles selected? The page size should be the only thing that moves.
My patter cut off all the sides when I saved as a PDF. What is going on?
Hi Stephanie! Were you able to get it fixed?
@@TheeBeautyDoctor Hi Vanessa, I think so I changed the page size from A4 to A0 in the documente properties. I am working on calibrating my projector today and will test it out. Thank you for your help and tutorial! I have a lot of A4's I need to convert.
