This was exactly what I needed to lengthen a pattern. Off to do this for all of them now. Thank you!

Thanks heaps for the video! Very helpful and clear! Little orange arrows allow for rotating objects by 90°, easier then trying to line up the edge/manually rotating.

Found another way too - draw a line that extends past the seam allowance on both side, Select the line and the pattern piece, Select Path menu, select Cut Path. Found it faster then creating nodes. Thanks again, you have taught me a lot!

Love your tutorials! Your voice is so calming and your instruction is perfect! I would love to see a tutorial on shortening patterns. I'm very short so everything I sew has to be altered a lot! I'm a very short adult!! 4 feet, 8 inches! Thank you again for doing these tutorials! :)

Excellent tutorial. Thanks so much! I hope you continue to make these and I also would love to know how to darken the lines.

How did you get the A0 pattern from Mood? I can only download the US paper version.

    • @TheeBeautyDoctor
      @TheeBeautyDoctor  3 года назад

Yes they can only be downloaded in A4 but you can put them together into A0 size by following the steps in this video: ruclips.net/video/5dEKUwzTQVg/видео.html

Thank you! How did you determine where the slash line needed to go? Very nicely explained!

For this video it was an arbitrary place but generally you’ll want to go by the body measurements. Then pick a place that isn’t a bend or curve on either side of the line. Sometimes patterns will have these cut lines marked for you, if so use those as they have probably tested to ensure the shape of the design remains the same.

Are there any videos that touch on how to save the file to be then opened in adobe reader for projection? No luck when I try to save as SVG or PDF.

    • @TheeBeautyDoctor

Saving as a PDF should allow you to use for projection. Just be sure that before you go to save you have selected all the information you want to view in the pdf. If you just save without selecting anything it will only save a blank page. I hope this helps!

I've watched this video numerous times and understand what you are doing. Thank you. Your presentation is excellent. I have spent an embarrassing number of hours trying to length the Love Notions Laundry Day Tee Dress by a few inches following these instructions. I am totally unable to accomplish the task. I'm not super tech-y so that doesn't help, I'm sure.
Do you think running a pattern through PDF Stitcher affects trying to lengthen it in Inkscape? I do the part where I create a new layer and then work on the front and back of the dress in the second layer. When I select the pattern piece using Command A I see the dotted lines for the selection. But as soon as I click on the Node Edit Tool and then double click on the intersection where I want to place a node, the selection box around the pattern piece disappears. Does that suggest something that I'm doing that is causing me problems? I've googled various things to try and figure it out but to no avail. I am using Inkscape 1.1 Alpha, but only because I had the same problem in the prior version and thought maybe moving up would help. If something jumps out at you that I'm missing, I'd love to hear it. Thanks again for the time you put into your tutorials. They are wonderful.

Just wanted to update here. I downloaded the Ornella blouse and was able to successfully lengthen it without any issues. I have since gone back and brought the Love Notions Rhapsody Blouse projector file into Inkscape and tried to lengthen in it without running it through PDF Stitcher or without removing layers. I must just be inept because when I get the duplicated piece to the second layer and select it, as soon as I click on the node button the selection disappears. I have done it over and over again. Also, am I missing some step in bringing the guides down and trying to place a node where they cross the pattern piece? As I get close with the node pointer I get the "hand" icon. Sometimes when I double click to add a node I end up selecting a section of nodes. I'm sorry to keep pestering you, but I'm curious if you are able to bring any pattern you want into Inkscape and do what you do without any issues? Obviously I'm not giving up. I know I'm not adept using this program so I feel it has to be something I'm doing/not doing that is causing me this problem. I am retired and have tons of time, so I don't mind sitting and trying to figure it out on my own or googling for help elsewhere. I just want to be sure that it's me and not a particular brand of pattern. Or some obscure setting in Inkscape I've toggled accidentally. Thanks for listening.

Success. I gave up and learned how to use the bezier tool and was able to lengthen the dress and remove the original version from my saved layout and replace with the new correct length. Now I can project this pattern and cut it out so easily. Thanks again for the videos. I had some shoulder problems recently and your LBB video caused me to go and download it and come back for added front closure. Genius. Haven't made one yet, but hope to eventually. For now I'm just thrilled to have accomplished something in Inkscape. I will not let it defeat me, that's for certain.

Hi, thank you for your videos. Can you advise how to change dots/dashes/unconnected pattern lines into full, solid lines, and also how to make the lines thicker/darker/change their colors? I've had some success in this, but it's been by chance, not through real skills! I was able to change a pattern piece to a solid color once, and that helped, too. I'm not sure I could figure it out again, though. Thank you, again!!!

@@TheeBeautyDoctor Also, how to separate pieces and unfold, so no cutting on the fold. It's hard, especially if the pieces aren't spaced far enough to make a box around--like if romper shoulder straps extend into the neckline of another piece. Thank you!

Did you end up making a video for this? I was trying to work it out the other day....ended up just tracing the dotted line, which was a little time consuming but worked!
