  • On the Pat McAfee show on 4/5/21, Pat was discussing Patrick Mahomes's toe injury and surgery and got into some discussion about sesamoid bones and what they are. While Pat did a great job explaining this concept and how it related to Mahomes injury, I thought we could take it to another level with some teaching!

I had severe bone spurring in my elbows. Got if fixed with surgery. Could you cover something around that subject. All the soft tissue was okay but it took me awhile to get the tendons and ligaments to move the way they were supposed to. I’m currently pain free and mobile again. (I did a lot of PT and stretching with my JAZ brace. )

Could you make a video about a ACL replacement surgery that has complications where you have to undergo further procedures... I wasn't able to straighten my leg, engage my kneecap to pull up, activate my quad, because something is keeping my knee from fully straightening out, locking to flex my quad. I've compensated for this by using the rest of my leg muscles and only walking around, hiking type stuff is allowed and possible. No jogging, running, jumping, juking, quick movements because my knee is unstable from the quad atrophy. I'll have to get another MRI to fully understand why the 3 rounds of PT couldn't get my knee too lock/fully straighten.. I went from being a very active skateboarder to now just taking it easy. At least hiking is nice, I appreciate being able to walk around at all. I had a cadaver ligament installed. Maybe I have built up scar tissue in my knee joint preventing full range of of motion. I had PT therapist push all their body weight down on my knee and it still wouldn't go past a certain degree of not fully straight, where it's supposed to go past straight and hyperexstend a little bit to lock. Anyways just curious if you've ever covered this. I've just strengthened my hamstring muscles to compensate.

What a coincidence, I’m currently recovering from either a fractured sesamoid bone, or sesamoiditis. One of my sesamoids is in 2 pieces, but an x-ray is unable to tell the difference between a fracture or a bipartite sesamoid bone.
