- On the Pat McAfee show on 4/5/21, Pat was discussing Patrick Mahomes's toe injury and surgery and got into some discussion about sesamoid bones and what they are. While Pat did a great job explaining this concept and how it related to Mahomes injury, I thought we could take it to another level with some teaching!

More than you ever thought you wanted to know about bones you didn't know existed!
Thanks for the nice vid Brain
Bro I literally just watched the original video 😂😂. Two Words for you: Built Different
I had severe bone spurring in my elbows. Got if fixed with surgery. Could you cover something around that subject. All the soft tissue was okay but it took me awhile to get the tendons and ligaments to move the way they were supposed to. I’m currently pain free and mobile again. (I did a lot of PT and stretching with my JAZ brace. )
I think I learn more about something every video😂
Speaking of sesamoid bones, do Marcus Lattimore South Carolina vs Tennessee (look on Marcus’s face when they pop the bone back in)
You need to be a guest on his show.
PLEASE! Love his show and it'd be great to have you on!
Totally should be the resident Dr for his show.
Dude I would go to Pat himself or his office secretary to DEMAND it.
Dude I'm sure Pat would be so down
i been dming the boys telling them to get him on but i doubt they’ll see it 😅
This is why he's the go to guy whenever there is a sports injury. Not only does he cover sports injuries quickly and informatively, he also covers other people covering sport injuries quickly and informatively.
I've learned more anatomy from watching Brian's videos than I have in college anatomy and physiology lol.
Haha same. Maybe because he ties it too sports which we find interesting
@@hectortorres4738 yeah that's true
Same here haha! Its super hard for me to retain any of the anatomy information from online class, it sucks
same bro but i’m in high school a&p but yeah i learn sm more from him than this class
I learned more anatomy than from having my own body.
We all gotta petition to get you on his show.. i bet you'd have a blast
We need Doc as a guest on Pats show! I love how you are Pats medical translator lol
lmao just got done watching that video now i’m watching this
So glad you have Pat And The Boys on here !
I love Pat McAfee. Funny, football smart, and just a great guy. Thanks Doctor Brian.
Doc you’re definitely the friend he texted lol
All these reactions you have been doing have been great new content. We very much appreciate it!
I was watching pats show earlier hoped you would put out a video clarifying. Didn't disappoint thanks!!
Brian we need you to go on pats show whenever there’s big injuries to star players. It’d be everything i ever hoped for
Amazing work dr Brian Sutterer
Hey Dr Brian, great pearls of knowledge as always!
Expressions like turf toe or high ankle sprain don't exist in my primary language so I was always left wondering what exactly they meant. I also asked doctors for explanations but as mentioned, the expressions don't translate well to my language. So I am very thankful for your videos.
Great work, keep it up!
discovered your channel 3 days ago... I think my sub to this channel was one of the fastest subs I've ever done... your content is so nice!! Cheers!
I’ve been having sesamoid problems since September 2020. I have tried cortisone injections, staying off my feet, and custom insoles. Nothing has worked. This truly is a tough bone to heal.
I feel you! I hope it heals well. I had to have one removed 5 years ago.
Thanks Doc. I did have a hard time discerning between dorsal/plantar view of the foot, though... until you mentioned flexion (plantar.)
Your the best Doc ✊🏻
Like how you used the font from the show
YEEESSSSS!!!!! I have been wanting you guys to work together in the future!!! I hope it pans out!
Damn 😭 I got an A in anatomy and I didn’t know about these
Smh I must have forgot
Anyways love this channel and hopefully Patrick recovers 100%
Great content
I knew this make it as i was watching!
I would absolutely love to see you on JRE or be a guest on Pat's show. It would be undoubtedly a very educational experience
Dr. Sutterer can you please breakdown patella tendon vs. ligament...the age old argument that no one has a clear answer to!
Messes me up to think that we evolved to have these kinds of little bones that change where tendons and things go (I'm not medical). Really like your videos, thanks for all the info. You can thank Tom Segura for me now watching your videos!
I watched pat and the boys talk about this and I knew my doc on RUclips would make a video to explain it.
Hey Brian I really enjoy your videos and for some reason you remind me of my math teacher😅
Two of my favorite things
😂 big fan! When are you going on the Show?
We are fearfully and wonderfully made!
You need to go on the pat mcafee show!!!!
Is the structure you explained the same as “ balls of your feet “ ? Thanks always live your content
I’ve had a medial sesamoid fracture for seven months. I’m finally at the point of seeing a foot/ankle surgeon about a sesamoidectomy 😭
Sesamoid bones...adorable name and fantastic source of agony for dancers and athletes alike! Sesamoiditis flare-ups 9 years after intensive dance? You betcha 💁♀️
Anytime we get a big time injury have you go on the show and explain it all. That would be a call.
I was hoping you'd see this and break it down
he had dr. goldman on to talk about the AIQ. i know hes used your clip before regarding the lungs but it would actually be cool for him to feature you on his show.
Could you make a video about a ACL replacement surgery that has complications where you have to undergo further procedures... I wasn't able to straighten my leg, engage my kneecap to pull up, activate my quad, because something is keeping my knee from fully straightening out, locking to flex my quad. I've compensated for this by using the rest of my leg muscles and only walking around, hiking type stuff is allowed and possible. No jogging, running, jumping, juking, quick movements because my knee is unstable from the quad atrophy. I'll have to get another MRI to fully understand why the 3 rounds of PT couldn't get my knee too lock/fully straighten.. I went from being a very active skateboarder to now just taking it easy. At least hiking is nice, I appreciate being able to walk around at all. I had a cadaver ligament installed. Maybe I have built up scar tissue in my knee joint preventing full range of of motion. I had PT therapist push all their body weight down on my knee and it still wouldn't go past a certain degree of not fully straight, where it's supposed to go past straight and hyperexstend a little bit to lock. Anyways just curious if you've ever covered this. I've just strengthened my hamstring muscles to compensate.
Open Sesamoid!
You should have a daily/weekly with pat on the weird injuries
I broke my seismoid about 5 years ago. I needed the function of both hands for writing and other job responsibilities, so I never had it immobilized. It still hurts sometimes, and used to ache all the time.
How you break it
I’d love a Pat McAfee - Dr Sutterer collab one day
I just commented that they need to talk to you 😆
I love pat mcafee he’s is so funny
When I’m watching ESPN and they have an injury update, I laugh. Totally a joke compared to this, literally insane I used to watch Max kellerman say stuff like “it looks like an Achilles injury” and watch commercials in order to do so
Cheers from Nqn Argentina
What a coincidence, I’m currently recovering from either a fractured sesamoid bone, or sesamoiditis. One of my sesamoids is in 2 pieces, but an x-ray is unable to tell the difference between a fracture or a bipartite sesamoid bone.
I broke mine falling down the stairs.. good shrooms! Haven’t had them since! 😂
I am fearfully and wonderfully made that my soul knows full well
The Davante Adam’s turf toe injury (last year or the year before...can’t remember) looked pretty gruesome when it happened. Definitely, a “cute-sounding” moniker for a painful, sometimes significant injury. Especially for players that have to plant and cut a lot
Can you please do a video on Ken Roczens Anaheim 2 crash
I have a seasmoid/ turf too, any tips to heal it better/ faster I wanna play football and track again
It’s annoying and I can’t do nun I had to quit football for this season I hate having the seasmoid injury
Hey Dr. Sutterer, I want to know what is the program or website you use to see the human body in three dimensional view.
I like this kind of vid
I have a non-union of a medial sesamoid fracture with evidence of AVN. After 8 months of conservative treatment, that sucker is coming out this Thursday. I'm super nervous about this surgery 😕
Have you ever contact pat to offer going on the show when they have medical questions?
do you have Joel Cahuasqui? died on a head kick
So we have 2 knee caps under our big toe. Awesome!
Is there one in the ankle too? My mother twisted an ankle really bad and the doctors said if it didn't heal right they would just remove the bone in the ankle.
Can you cover Brendan Gallagher’s repeated hand injuries?
Plz do Jo Linder... peck muscle lines
How long it take to heal
Buddy sutterer with the cut
I’ve had a medial sesamoid bother me for over a year and I can’t cut and accelerate on it. Had mri, done conservative treatment. Is there a surgery to “repair” the sesamoid? Mine was likely fractured before. Would really mean the world if I can get an answer. God bless
i used to think that the skelton jersey changed depending on the sport per video... now i’m just confused 😅😅
I try to keep it sport/team specific
Apperication Sir Love from Russia ❤️
I have a question Why do ex-NFL players have crooked fingers? I know how they get crooked fingers but why can't they get them fixed/straightened out
Can you tell me where you get that biodigital diagram from. Like is it online or a downloaded software?
Online
@@BrianSuttererMD thanks
Sesamoids dude!!
Fantastic info. So basically that $500K contract will haunt the Chiefs for this decade.
I had to get the lateral sesamoid bone in my right foot removed about a year and a half after it broke. The poor blood flow lead it to basically die, so my podiatrist recommended removing it completely. I'm told that'll probably cause other problems long term :/
Wow, I really have a newfound respect for turf toe 😂
You and Dr. Mine should team up lol
I thought more blood flow meant faster healing?
Was anyone else watching pms when the chat exploded saying this would happen
But here's a question doc, do you think Mahomes is gonna be able to scramble like he did last season ? Give it to me straight doc.
Brian call into the show sometime
I tore my ACL,MCL,meniscus and patellar tendon🙂 just thought this was cool to share. Thanks bye
Good luck on the recovery I tore my knee up as well before you'll be back in time 👌
We need a Dr. Brian and Dr. Mike collab
Did anyone else start to feel under their toe to see if you could feel your sesamoid bones there? Or was that just me?
Its like me and this Doc. watch the same shows all the time. That makes me feel good about myself , were on the same level and I only got a G.E.D lol jk
Open sesamoid.
Turf toe is like stubbing your toe except the dresser is the earth and it's 300lb bagof meat instead of your leg that's swinging your foot towards the dresser
What
Before this guy was done complaining about medical vernacular, Doc was already done with his new book explaining how...fast he posts his vids.👀👍
Fun fact. Not all people have two sesamoids in their foot. Some people just have the one.
The only doctor I trust
So they are like kneecaps but for underneath the the toes. got it.
You seem to like the pat mcafee show
facts. also, i'm a colts fan and grew up in Indiana and did all my schooling in the state
Ah.
Hi
Colts
For the algorithm
WTF is this Pat/Brian mini-crossover!? The youtube algorithm is getting really creepy!
RUclips analytics now shows you the top videos your audience watches on other channels, and every week my top vids are from Pat's show. Idk what it is but my channel viewers love his vids, so It seems like ideal content when it fits!
First !!
I know racehorses have them. And they often have issues with them considering a 1,200 pound animal runs on one foot at a time.
