As an MMA fan who started watching years after the Silva injury, seeing it didn’t really faze me because I expected it and didn’t really have any backstory on Silva or his legacy. Seeing Weidman break his leg almost made me cry. Even watching the details of his injury makes me feel some type of way. I hope Weidman can have a comeback, but I don’t know if it makes sense. It’s hard to see such a respectable, hard-working person go through something so painful. I would hope that he’s at least healthy enough to have a near-normal life with his family and really takes the time to recover, unless Tony Ferguson is directing his recovery lol

Do they remove the rod once the bone has healed together or is it in there for life?

    • @FaceFamous

It's in there for life. For some breaks but I have heard of other people getting there's taken out depending on where it's at

I had a similar fracture in the military and when I was rushed to the medic, the doc wanted to put a rod in my leg, tibia, I said hell no! It took 3-months where I can walk without crutches, 6-months of physical therapy to rebuild the muscles, and 10-months where I can run and lightly sprint, again! After a year with no opioids, surgery, or insane treatment, I was back to normal! My previous broken shin or tibia is thicker than my unbroken tibia. I also was taken Diatomaceous earth and calcium and vitamin D and K that enhanced the healing process. Even though I was on active duty, if one can endure the pain, and perform the strict regiment and exercise to recover naturally, they can forego all of the expensive treatments.
