But after seeing this I'm scared to even workout naturally , What should I do? How do I avoid this?
I've read comments saying that it happened due to ego lift.
@@tearscrash Im 21 , Im not scared of weights anymore after doing research. And thank you for confirming and clearing my doubts.
Im still confused on taking steroids. I don't care about getting sterile, but then again maybe I think I don't care about getting sterile but when I do get sterile I'll regret. I know steroids are dangerous because the side effects are not reversible. The thing is , workout takes a lot of time and I end up sleeping like a lot. If I could get a career where I could make a living by doing half time then that would be fine.
But if not, to save time Im looking up for taking steroids . I don't wanna be very big and muscular . I may achieve the body type I want naturally. But as usual it will take a significant amount of time like decades.

As a 73 year old male who trains with weights every other day always seeking slight progressive overload, I am definitely going to trade weight for reps.
Clean and few reps are safer than higher reps. High reps due to their duration and fatigue inducement cause your form to break down more.
Its time to retire big guy, travel , enjoy the world. You have nothing to prove to yourself or anyone else. Be easy on your body. Consider biking or something light.
@@NK-iw6rq smart words
@@majungasaurusaaaa No one says you need to break down reps or go for as many reps you can till you fail. And besides, people most often have the worst form when they are lifting TOO heavy of weights and they cheat out on the range of the rep. I recently came back from a shoulder dislocation injury. It's MUCH safer that I do many reps of low weight than to go straight to low rep high weight. I focus on being able to do the whole range of motion, consistently and pain free. You telling a 73 old man he should lift heavier weights is a terrible idea imo.
@@DonLee1980 If you lift for gains you will have to lift until your muscles are at least close to exhaustion. And that's gonna be a lot safer with a 5 rep set that you can do for 7 instead of a 12 rep set you can do for 14, not mention yielding more gains. A lot more can go wrong in the latter. Lactic acid, set duration and mental fatigue don't make anything safer, esp if you're older. You're telling an older gent to squat for 12 reps? Jesus. And let's face it, a 12 rep set when out of control with hurt you just as much as a 5 rep set out of control. The difference is just a few lbs. Except you're far more likely to lose control.

You could see this coming. If you watch the original video there's a part where they're warming up and they actually laugh about how bad his mobility is. He's so tight throughout his chest and shoulders that he literally can't get the bar to touch his chest even if he tries. When someone like that stays with submaximal loads in their comfort range they're usually fine. But when you get into your 90% to 100% 1-rep-max range and you can't control the eccentric descent and that bar dips even just slightly below your severely limited range of motion, just like a cable or rope stretched too far, that pec is going to let go.
True..he is also flaring his elbows which is an unnatural position for the shoulder joint and pec to move in. He doesnt even know how to do a proper bench press or deadlift properly. I hope he has a speedy recovery and gets taught how to execute the bench press properly. Because flaring elbows is a no no. And also the huge steroid usage which makes the muscles stronger before the tendon strength can catch up. Thats the downfall of using gear. He even said he didnt do incline press in over a month. And yet he is ego lifting with Larry. Also the very fact that he was shaking so much when unracking the bar shows that his central nervous system is not prepared for that load because he hasnt trained under that type of weight in quite some time. Not to mention the big weight jump he made from 405 to 495. There is a process to lifting and building the body up gradually to prepare to handle a heavier and heavier load. Bad form, lots of gear usage and ego lifting is a recipe for disaster.
wow

I suffered the exact same injury. I didn't feel much pain at all, just rapid tightening in the chest area and the hearing of paper ripping during the initial injury.
Thank you, doctor. Had that injury in 2003, orthopedic surgeon repaired it quickly (scar tissue a big concern) and I was back benching six months later. I was not as muscular as this fellow, but he will recover, I think, to a great degree. Curiously, it did not hurt much. Not bragging, but my dr. said lack of pain is not uncommon.

10 months ago I tore partially my left pec while trying my pr. I felt really strong that day but unfortunately while attempting the pr the moment the weight touched my pec and I was pushing it away my left pec tore. It felt like a big velcro strap . I was shocked but I had no pain in that moment. I made a mri scan and the doctor said I had a partial tear. But since I don't earn any money with bodybuilding he said it wasn't a good idea to get the surgery. I asked other 3 doctors and all said the same because here in germany where I live there is no one that is specialized in these kind of surgery and the only one capable of this surgery was 800km from my home. I was depressed because in these 5 years of strength training (+11 years of Judo before the gym) I never got such an injury. It's frustrating not being able to get the surgery and now it's basically impossible. I'm still trying to recover mentally and phisically but it's so difficult becaus I know that things will never be the same for me for the rest of my life. Pls guys put you ego away. It's harder for natural people to have pec tears too. Because people on roids get stronge so quickly there tendents can't keep up .
And the drugs make them push harder then there limit so in short if you can do reps and are natural it's not something you should be worried about too much.
@@theincrediblehulk5797 1) focus on form, make sure you retract and pinch the shoulder blades back together, make an arch, never bench with elbows flaring out 90 degrees the biggest mistake always tuck them in. 2) focus on proper warm up, i warm up 20-30 minutes before i start to bench, do band external rotations, shoulder breakers, thoracic mobility work etc. And when you get to the bar gradually increase the weights. I usually go from empty bar for reps to 135x8-10 reps, 185X3, 225x1-2, 275x1 315x1 etc.. (always with perfect form).
3) stretching and mobility work after the workout, loosen up the muscles get the blood flow in and recover. Don't be tight and and do half reps.

Watching this has me reminiscing about the bodybuilding I did during my 20’s. I’m so thankful I never had a tear or a shoulder impingement (especially with all of the “get that deep stretch, go to failure” that I did on bench). I’m 41 now. I do a lot of crawling, climbing, and I swing heavy maces and clubs. My shoulders feel better than they ever have, and I move better now than I did then. Bench is fine for pressing strength, but there’s a whole world of movement out there that is more relevant for most people and more fun imho.

He is in his twenties and on steriods. His bones and tendons have not matured enough to cope with the artificial increase in muscle strength. Also his form is terrible and places all the weight on the pectoral instead of the triceps and the chest.
Ego lifting 🤷♂️
All true but I've heard that the flaired elbows are good for bodybuilding when you're trying to minimize the "compoundness" of the lift if you will and really target the chest primarily. I know powerlifters and people interested in overall strength utilize the fact that it's a compound lift to the full extent and want to use as much triceps as possible to lift the most weight, but now I'm like ...well damn. Should we all lift with tucked elbows all the time? Regardless? I keep mine super flaired for dumbbell press... Am I wrong? Sheeeeeit

*Great description.* Another way to describe the injury is when the pectoralis major goes from an eccentric or negative to the concentric contraction, it's at that point that the pec major performs an isometric contraction, i.e., the muscle is required to generate tension at a point when there's no change in the angle at the shoulder joint. To avoid rehab, it pays to perform isometric exercises at the end range of the motions. This thought process prepares muscles to meet the demands that are placed upon the muscles, i.e., prehab.

Hey doc. Hope you are doing good! I’m a pro bodybuilder & i have been under a pec reconstruction surgery which was done years later from the injury. But as a competitive athlete, the results are not favourable. What are your thoughts on a second surgery to fix the tendon?
