Thanks again!
Nicholas, Thank You! For the wonderful comment and the generous support! 😁 I grew up watching all of the classics because my parents were born in the 1920's and loved all these shows and people. I lost my father in 2020 at the age of 93. Now when I watch the classics, I feel relaxed and nostalgic. I sometimes feel like one or both of my parents are watching them with me. (Depending on the show lol) Again, Thank You So Much 👍💜
Very true! I was very surprised when I saw her play the role of a servant in Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte, starring Bette Davis. Agnes Moorhead was a very versatile and talented actress.
I have been a lifelong super fan of Agnes Moorehead! I have followed her career since I was 9 years old. I was even lucky enough to meet her! Such a versatile, marvelous person. You have done a great job with your research on this . Many thanks to you for honoring this wonderful lady. Rest in peace dear Agnes. You will not be forgotten.
Agnes Moorhead was perfectly cast. She was beautiful despite her age. Her character added the right amount of friction. I loved the colors and wardrobe she wore. She was scary to me like a strict aunt. Her Twilight episode was one of my favorites in the series.
That first two seasons of Bewitched was on point. Endora was super stylish and not so much mean to Darrin but judgmental. There’s a cool black and white episode where Endora and Darrin’s dad have a connection.. it’s worth a watch.
Agnes Moorehead was known during the Golden Age of Radio as the "First Lady of SUSPENSE", as she starred in so many of the popular radio series that existed prior to television.
Cool and mysterious beauty. That’s how I always thought of her. There was nothing witchy about Samantha. I know that was intentional but I always felt she needed a touch of mystery too.
That was an amazing performance!! Basically a one woman show with no dialogue! I can't think of many actors good enough to perform a whole show of any kind like that!! She could do it all comedy, drama, singing. I must admit I never saw her dance, but I think she would have done well. She had such natural grace and elegance. ❤
Agnes Moorhead was one of the greatest and most under rated actresses ever! Her work with Orson Welles, especially in “The Magnificent Ambersons” is breathtaking. She was brilliant. PS I know a lot of people may disagree with me but I think she was beautiful.
I worshiped Agnes Moorhead as Endora, as well as Liz Montgomery. Every Friday night, without fail, we were crowded around the TV enjoying Bewitched. It was later that I found her in Citizen Kane and The Magnificent Ambersons, among many movies. Her acting skills were matched by none. I am now heading to find her on radio. I have come full circle with Agnes. RIP darling.
I loved her too. She was so much like my grandmother, who had a running feud with one of my uncles very much like Endora vs Darrin. Just to illustrate her personality, I can easily imagine Endora doing something I saw my grandmother do. My grandmother loved art, and she had a lot of originals and numbered prints hanging on her walls. One particular wall, as is typical of grandmothers, was covered completely in family portraits and photos. One of them hung noticeably crooked, and if you tried to straighten it for her she’d screech “NOOOOOO!! That picture is supposed to hang like that. Those are my in-laws!”
Hey, I did not know-- until now-- that you were a fellow St. Louisan. Let's here it for "The Lou". I've ALWAYS loved Ms. Moorehead's work, & have taken pride in all of our St. Louis celebs--Vincent Price, Agnes, Chuck Berry, Tina Turner, St. Louis Post Dispatch Publisher, Mr. Pulitzer, and the list goes on and on. Thanks for your superb coverage & videos, and thanks for representing "The Lou.";
@@robsemail hahahahaha!!! I hope your dear grandmother would be alright if I adopted her fantastic sense of humor in the way she hangs the photos of her in-laws. ❤️😆❤️
@@annanonymous1589 I’m sure she’d be charmed, and thank you! I loved my grandmother very much and I miss her. Remembering her sense of humor is always a comfort.
She was splendid! Orson Welles loved her, used her for radio and films in the Mercury Theatre. I never saw anything more honest than her work in 'Citizen Kane'.
Agnes was my favorite character in Bewitched!!! And the fruity uncle!!! What a lady! I had no idea she had such a background....I love her even more now!!! RIP Ms. Moorehead!
Bewitched brings back childhood memories of grabbing my pillow and some snacks and getting snuggy in front of the TV. I believe the cast's love for each other (have read this elsewhere too) was infectious.
That was great, as a child in Australia my brother and I used to love watching Bewitched as well as I Dream of Jeanie, Get Smart F Troup, and Green Acres they were great TV Shows.
I watched her in The Twilight Zone episode "The Invaders" years after it first aired, and was so impressed with her performance that it gave me a new perspective on how very talented she was. I never knew she did radio. Thanks for all of the info on her; she was truly a remarkable person and actress.
What a great presentation of a beautiful, intelligent, honest, and eXtraordinarily talented human being! A woman whose name was familiar to me but never realized the breadth of her work over her short 73 years. I will have to show this to my 100-year-old mother-in-law who, because she is a serious movie buff with a great memory, no doubt remembers her and no doubt has seen many of her movies and heard her many radio performances. Thank you "Mr. Cool Classics".
I only know Agnes Moorehead from her role as Endora on Bewitched. From what I saw 👀 in this video 📹, she's acted in many Radio 📻 shows, movies 🎬 and TV 📺 shows. She was a very busy woman 👩❗
My favorite 2. Moorhead performances are Suspence's original "Sorry Wrong Number," all voice, and Twilight Zone's "The Invaders," no voice. Outstanding talent! And this is a wonderful tribute!
Yes, she was in Sorry Wrong Number but film role went to Barbara Stanwyck. Agnes voice only in radio I have on Cassette bought decades ago. It's online now. Somewhere I forget.
Twilight Zone's "The Invaders" was amazing. I saw that episode long after I watched "Bewitched", and I was mesmerized by her. What a stellar performance. She was also great fun in "Charlotte's Web", as the goose who repeats everything.
Agnes Moorehead is one of the great character actresses. Thank you for such a great insight into her life. Thank for digging in a little deeper than other folks.
This is what the world needs now! The power of positivity! Thank you for sharing your story about Agnes Moorehead. Didn't she adopt the son from one of her husbands? The part about Elizabeth Montgomery meeting her in the grocery store and letting her know that she was sad that she would not be a part of the show as she was personally selected was quite touching. Their onscreen chemistry was flawless. The same with everyone else.
I loved Bewitched! Endora was always my favorite character. When I was little, I remember being fascinated by her eyes. Excellent job on this episode. You taught me a lot about Agnes that I didn't know. Thanks! ♥️
Agnes Moorehead is unquestionably one of the finest actresses as well as being one of the most underrated actresses of the 20th century. She managed to preserve the integrity of her craft by not becoming a star whatever that is. I know what it isn't, if you're a star you're probably not at the top of your craft.
Wow this was so interesting! I used to watch Bewitched with my grandmother all the time. I always loved Endora but wish I knew all that about her acting back then.. she’s quite amazing.
Per Wikipedia, re: Agnes on Welles directing her in "The Magnificent Ambersons" : In a 1973 interview with Dick Cavett, Moorehead recalled the arduous work involved before filming her climactic scene where she sinks against the unheated boiler. In rehearsal, Welles told Moorehead (who was still a novice to film acting) to "play it like a little girl," a characterization which went against what Moorehead had prepared. Then Welles told her to play "like an insane woman." Following that, Welles told her to play it "like she's absolutely inebriated." Then he said to play with "an absolutely vacuous mind." Moorehead was thinking to herself, "What in the world does he want?" She did the scene 11 times, each with a different characterization. For the twelfth time, Welles told Moorehead: "Now play it." After those rehearsals, her playing the scene had "a little bit of the hysteria, it had a little bit of the insanity, it had a little bit of the little girl...[H]e had mixed it all up in my mind so that the characterization that I played had a little bit of all of these; and it was terribly exciting." Moorehead continued reflecting on Welles's directorial abilities: "He never directed obviously; he always directed in some strange oblique way where you thought 'Well, that isn't right at all.' But if you put your career or the role in his hands he loved to mold you the way he wanted and it was always much better than you could do yourself. He was the most exciting director that you could possibly imagine."
I loved BeWitched, watched it faithfully, and loved Endora, she would make me laugh so hard. She was the fun witch everyone wanted to be. Now that I see her past and how successful she was as an actress, it was very smart of her to be Endora because she became successful to younger people who didn't know her past and the fact that she was an academy award-winning actress. I had no idea of all this about her, man, I'm I impressed! She was a beautiful woman.
This was wonderful. You did a very good job presenting Agnes Moorehead and with the ending about her sexuality and the rumors about her private life. you did with respect and tact.
Agnes Moorehead was a great Radio Actress, reprising the main role in "Sorry, Wrong Number" 7 or 8 times. She was known as the "First Lady of SUSPENSE", a very popular radio show for many years prior to television.
That was interesting and lovingly produced; thank you for your efforts. I loved “Bewitched” and all the cast and characters. Agnes was great in every performance; a true professional.
No one could ever put together a finer tribute to such a precious, wonderful, and wonderfully blessed, and gifted great lady as Agnes was, and always is. Thank you so very, very much for all the effort and joy you exhibited in putting this all together to pull back any enigma and misinformation that has so long prevailed out there about this delightfully enjoyable lady. She was in to farming not long before her health began to fail. You could tell she had quite an enthusiasm and took great pleasure in everything that had to do with it. Thank you, and May God continue to richly bless you in this passion of yours here on RUclips!!!
My dear sweet mother absolutely Loved & admired Agnes Moorehead, as did I. She was one of her favorite actors. We always knew we were in for a treat if Ms Moorehead was in a show. Thank you so much for the respectful, informative & beautiful tribute you gave her! This was such a sweet lovely tribute to such a great talent & wonderful woman!
Wow!! What a brilliant actress.!!!!!!! Never realized how many shows and movies she was in as well as radio.. No one could ever play Endora like Agnes! Love her!!❤
No One Could Play Endora Like Agnes Moorehead. And Dick York Was The Better Darrin Agnes Moorehead Reportedly Did Not Like Or Get Along With Dick Sargent She Said He And Dick York Could Talk Like Friends
What a great cool classic story , I had no idea Agnes moorehead was so incredibly talented, I loved hearing about her childhood and how she could sing and her committed Christian values. I also like watching the old shows to wind down, I especially like watching Perry Mason and I'm really fascinated with all the cast members have you ever done a story on the cast of Perry Mason? I was so fortunate to see the Perry Mason episode done in color and boy was it colorful, it was really an eye-opener.
Agnes Moorehead was an amazing woman! Thank you for this very interesting show. I agree with her as to her views on society. She was advanced in a culture that was socially engineering as they still do today, but she was a rock and had good values like we need to go back to. In every instance, do the right thing. It's pretty simple. Shame on that company for filming in a cancer zone.
I thought Agnes' portrayal of Velma in "Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte" was inspired. I don't know if it would be very easy to hold your own with such a stellar cast but she nailed it!
Absolutely Agree, she was superb in that movie ! It was not until about 10 yrs ago I realised it was Agnes in that movie, I was so Wowed! With Love from Washington State 💚🌲
Add me to the list of Agnes' fans who loved her in the role of Velma Cruther in H..HSC. Agnes epitomized what it means to be a "versatile actress". She was as great in smaller character roles (as she was as Velma) as she was as the leading character, time after time.
My cousin Marge Stover was very close to her and lived in Agnes' family home and she and her husband was the caretakers of her estate. IIRC, Agnes had arranged for the estate to be maintained for retreats by Muskingum College (now University) and Presbyterian folks. When I was travelling around after the Army and was visiting family, they put me up in her mansion. It was a great exploration and the lady reeeeaaaallly liked lavender (the color) and she had imported ebony chandeliers that were painted lavender.
I loved Endora as a young boy, but was too young to understand her true talent. As an adult, I agree that nobody else could have played that part as well as Agnes played it. Thanks for the fun stroll down memory lane!!
theorgelmeister you expressed my sentiments exactly. Although Elizabeth Montgomery also had an accomplished career, Mr. Moorehead's actually extended quite a bit longer than I'd realized. Great presentation too and well done video!
When I was a kid, I actually didn’t like her character. I felt like, why does she have to be such a bitch to Darren? But then, I liked Dr. Smith, so maybe I’m just weird.😁
When I was a kid watching the show, I kinda felt the same way. Like she was bad or an enemy that you had to root against. That tells me she did a great job of acting 🤣
@@CoolClassics Agreed. As I grew older and saw her in other things, I liked her more and more. She was probably the best actor on the show (with the possible exception of Maurice Evans).
Thoroughly enjoyed this - Agnes deserves every accolade. What an interesting, fascinating life she had and I admire/respect her morals. I was a little sad there was no clip of her in "Pollyanna" until it was almost the end of video, and then there it was! I loved her in that movie!! Rest in eternal peace Agnes, you were a true and rare gem. *Had to add that I'm a new fan and subscriber to your channel. Look forward to watching all your videos.
I've always loved Agnes Moorehead and I remember the Twilight Zone episode fondly. When it first aired on TV I forget how old I was but I was completely gobsmacked by her acting in that episode. Not a word spoken but everything was powerfully conveyed. As for her playing Samantha's mother in Bewitched she was without a doubt outstanding and completely embraced the kitsch of the era. I never realized how very versatile and actress she was. Thank you for doing such in-depth research. It is very fulfilling to learn new things and to put a life force behind the actor.
Don't you mean her mom died in 1987 not 1990? If Agnes was 74 when she died and her mom was at least 17 years older she would been 91 at time of her death so in 13 years she would have 104.
@@CoolClassics Do you know if a Original DIRECTORS CUT of the = MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS exist exactly the way Orson Wells filmed it with the missing footage still in place ?
Agnes was also in Dark Passage starring Humphrey Bogart and Laure Bacall. She did a great job as jealous woman who murders a former beau then pins the blame on Bogart . Good movie .
Great job, I loved her on bewitched. She was so funny and did a great job in the role. So said about the cancer and all the cast that died, that’s so messed up.
Than you so much for this video! Like so many of us, I was fully aware of her terrific portrayal of Endora on Bewitched (she was so magnificent in that role) but only in the last year or so was I exposed to the body of her work and realized what an all around wonderful actress she truly was. (her supporting role in "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte" being a particular stand out) She has to be one of the most under-rated actresses ever. Thanks again.
I respect Ms Moorehead. Wonderful actress and I resonate with her morals and beliefs. I wish I could have known her. I was only 4 when she died. And I loved her on Bewitched! She was a great actress.
What a wonderful little documentary about a beautiful human being. I loved that show as a child and she will always remain its most memorable character.
I'm a huge Agnes Moorehead fan. I figured I would always recognize her when I saw her in any movie or TV show. I was wrong. I recently watched "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte" and was stunned when the credits rolled and I saw that Agnes played Velma. She was so good at the acting that I didn't know it was Agnes. A remarkable person.
The best role she ever starred in was that of the rumpled and outspoken housekeeper, Velma Carruthers, in Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte. She should have won an award for that. What a performance!
Nice video. I do not believe for a second that Ms. Moorehead was anything more than a loving person and wonderful actress. I believe Paul Lynde took his joke too far.
@@CoolClassics Where can we find what else Paul said? All that's revealed here is that he said she could have an extramarital affair, nothing about homosexuality.
She is buried in Dayton Ohio, not far from us. I used to walk cemeteries and had planned on visiting her. Thank you for the reminder! Just came across this channel, I love it!
Thank you for the terrific bio on Miss. Moorehead. She was one of the most professional and gifted actresses of the last century. Her volume of work is immense and lucky for us so much f it has been preserved for new generations to enjoy. She was a major contributor to the entertainment industry on radio, stage, films, and ultimately, television. I admire that you addressed, what some may call, the elephant in the room. You neither embraced it nor denied it. Quite right. Whether she was or wasn't a lesbian should not matter to anyone; it was her life. Artists provide us with entertainment and help us to escape our daily grind. What they do in their private lives should be of no concern to us. Kudos to you!
It’s of concern when it’s a lie, yet, touted as “the truth”. It would have been for her to tell or not, not for persons pushing an agenda at her expense.
@@alleylew9439 My comment was addressing the "concern" that people have about other people's private lives. We will never know the truth about Agnes Moorehead's private sexual preferences. We weren't there to witness it one way or the other. There are people, who to this day, argue that Liberace, Rock Hudson, George Michael or Ricky Martin and so many others were/are straight. If you agree with that statement then you are either living in an altered reality or you're insane. Still, it doesn't concern us. It's an opinion. We just like their movies , music, and TV shows. They brought joy into our lives. If we were to concern ourselves with "lies" that are touted as "truths" we would never open a another magazine, read a book, watch RUclips, and continue to believe that the planet we live in is flat. Paul Lynde started this entire dialogue because he was a flaming Queen and he felt that he could joke about others in his realm. It didn't make him a a liar or a person who spoke truth to power; it just got him some laughs and that's what he did. He made people 😂.
David Lagares So, it’s “important” to you that people “believe” that those you listed are gay? Why should I, or you, for that matter care about them? I believe they all personally “ outed” themselves. Sounds like you’re the one with the problem. Thought you didn’t “care”! I’ll speak about “truth” any time I please, especially when those with an agenda find it acceptable to tell tall tales when the person involved can no longer dispute it.
Thanks for this wonderful documentary. Endora was my favorite character on Bewitched even as a young child I loved her. She’s who I wanted to be when I grew up. Now I know Agnes Moorhead was an equally great role model in her own way.
She was absolutely brilliant -- her performance on Twilight zone--she did not say a single word was a powerful performance. She was pure class on Bewitched. Amazing her mom lived to be 106.
This is the first time I've seen one of your videos, and I have to say I'm seriously impressed. I think you did a magnificent job documenting Agnes Moorehead's life and career in a relatively short period of time. Bravo to you, and much thanks! Excellent job!! 👏👏👏👏👏
This was the most exhaustive, and balanced, view of Ms Moorehead, one of my favorite actors. I would accept what Debbie Reynolds said. She was quite an enlightened lady
I love her body of work. She was in some huge movies with some big names. Johnie Belinda is one of my favorites. She was overlooked by the media, because she didn't fall into that silly Hollywood crowd that still exists today. She's so under rated as far as I'm concerned. Thank you for sharing her story. She deserves it.
One of the most engrossing things I've seen in some time. I loved her as Endora but that's been the extent of my experience with her, not going to lie. The fact she got her start as a radio star was super interesting cuz that's rather rare. Thank you so much for your time on this.
This was an extremely informative video. There's so much that I didn't know here and also some that was cleared up like the fact that her not liking Dick Sergeant was a rumor that persists to this day. I also had no idea about that lesbian rumor or its origins. But that just goes to show you that even back then the rumor mill could travel far and, it did. She did so much work during her life, it's amazing. Again, extremely informative video. Great work!
This has to be one of your Best Documentary videos that I have ever seen. Really all of them are great but this one you really covered practically everything that I liked and was interested in. Her Radio work was very important and her movie work was extremely important. It’s nice to know where here star is and what other people’s compliments were about her. Agnes Moorehead was one of the best and versatile actress I admired. Thank You very much for the great historical information about her!
Wow, thank you! Other than my Dick York video, this one took me the longest. Sometimes I just get caught up in a persons life story and keep going. I think my next video will have to be shorter and honestly, easier for me to make. lol I do not want to get burnt out. Gotta keep it fun :)

I'll never forget her big line in Citizen Kane, "I've had his bags packed for a week, now." Charter member of the Mercury Theater, that's legendary stuff.
Thank You! You did a fantastic job on her life from beginning to the end of her life. Such a talented lady. Doesn't really matter what her sexual preferences were. What goes on in a person's life is nobodies business. Thank You Agnes Moorhead for sharing your gift with the world. R.I.P Angel 👼🙏❤
What a nice and thorough video biography of Agnes Moorhead. You couldn’t help but be impressed by her and her life story and strong presence as an indelible, capable actress! Just listening to her diction & speech in various roles as an actress alone is mesmerizing. Born in 1900, she truly was a notable actress of the 20th century!
Thank You again for a wonderful reveal of this wonderful lady's life history! It's so sad that she passed when she did due to the circumstances you mentioned.
I remember the first time I ever really truly remembered her was when she played the bed ridden window in Pollyanna . her transformation into a loving happy person was something special... Her talent was wondrous... It's sad that most people only remember her for Endora...
And you do these videos very well! They have the same relaxing enjoyment that the original TV shows give us at night. The biggest difference is that I can watch them anytime, to start my morning for example. 😊
She certainly was a big part of the show. The love hate between Darren and her was so funny. One of my favourite shows when I was younger .I know she was a famous actress ,but I did not realise how much until today.Being in the U.K, we don’t always get all the films,or shows that you have on over there.Same as you don’t get ours.It was therefore nice to find out a bit more about her today.Thank you 🥰
I liked her as Endora but when I saw that Twilight Zone episode I loved her for her consummate acting ability. To me, that was an amazing performance communicating everything she was feeling without saying a word. Agnes Moorhead never disappoints.
Absolutely chilling that TZ was! (And she was not vain - quite an unglamorous role.) Left such an indelible impression, I think of her in that role sometimes when I'm peeling a potato for soup.
That movie was spectacular Agnes / Velma took such good care of Charlotte Betty Davis and Agnes what a fantastic pair of talent, Bruce Dern playing John Mayhew ,Josph cotton, Loved that movie Betty is one actress that could scar you to death What a phenomenal phenomenal actress I miss them both. While I like Paul Lynde don't know if I consider him the most trustworthy source, couple that with the fact that Agnes was in a very emotional situation and may have simply chosen her words poorly. Thank you for doing this video. I have always admired her acting ability, I mean, her presence on stage or set alone is top-tier, and then her ability to emote so exaggeratedly in a believable way is just amazing.

Thank you so much for this endearing look into the incredible life of Agnes Moorehead. I had only ever seen her in Bewitched reruns, as most of her long and outstanding Hollywood career was before my time. As for the rumor regarding Agnes gender selection, I'd say she simply gave up on men after the third marriage, and devoted all the rest of her time to acting.
A friend of mine was a protégé of Miss Moorehead's in the 50's. His name is Wade Crookham. The stories he'd tell me. Lucille Ball lived across the street and they were very good friends. Thank you.
In a film history class in college my teacher said among other accolades that Citizen Kane was considered one of the greatest sound movies. He spoke about the music, smart banter, the fact that most of the actors had been in radio, but zeroed in on this one scene you shared where 7:11 Morehead's character is informed that Kane had just recieved an inheritance. With her silence she manages to focus every viewers attention to one word shouted out into the silence of a snow-covered field; CHARLES!
She will always be Endora to me. Brilliant actress. Having been born in 1955 I've been a fan of hers since Orson Wells. Thanks for sharing your fun time.
Thank you for posting this video. Classic TV helps me remember when the world was a better place; when most people were better. Integrity and kindness and just human caring has all but gone from the earth. The classic show and movies helps me to remember to never stop spreading joy when I can and God's love when I have a choice.
I was born in 1958 and everything you show relates to a memory one way or the other… I’m a particularly nostalgic and empathetic person, and when I watch these I think of my youth, I think of easier times… I’m retired now, and I’ve come across your channel several times, but only subscribed today… You do a terrific job here and I appreciate your effort. It brings back memories of my family and especially my father, who died this past January, nearly a century-old… and he was an enormous fan of Agnes Moorehead, given that most of his early life was radio only… and being a huge sci-fi fan, I remember the hatchet on the flying saucer scene like it was yesterday!
Thanks again!

PS
I know a lot of people may disagree with me but I think she was beautiful.
She had an exotic look about her
She was. You're right 😁
I too think she was lovely looking. A very distinctive look and style.
She was beautiful.
Agree. She was stunning.
Fyi, it actualy ran on Thurssday nights throughout it's run, with a brief stint on Wednesdays before getting cancelled.
Hey, I did not know-- until now-- that you were a fellow St. Louisan. Let's here it for "The Lou". I've ALWAYS loved Ms. Moorehead's work, & have taken pride in all of our St. Louis celebs--Vincent Price, Agnes, Chuck Berry, Tina Turner, St. Louis Post Dispatch Publisher, Mr. Pulitzer, and the list goes on and on. Thanks for your superb coverage & videos, and thanks for representing "The Lou.";
@@robsemail hahahahaha!!! I hope your dear grandmother would be alright if I adopted her fantastic sense of humor in the way she hangs the photos of her in-laws. ❤️😆❤️

Agnes was awesome in everything she did, extremely talented.
Yes and WE turned out to be the aliens!
Was wonderful in the show ❤️
A real Trooper😎
she sure was a hot tamale when she was young !
Her performance in the Twilight Zone still blows me away to this day!
When Endora turns herself into the little girl who’s ‘trick or treating’ the little girl is played by Maureen McCormick a.k.a. Marcia Brady. 🥰
Well I definitely missed that one!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that's very funny. Poor darwood 😅🤣
Thats cool to know...i always liked maureen
I thought she looked familiar. Marcia, Marcia, Marcia...
Thank you. I kept replaying it knowing I knew who it was but couldn’t think of who
She was splendid!
RIP Ms. Moorehead!
This is an excellent documentary about the life of a great actress who is often overlooked. I really enjoyed watching it; thank you for your work.
as far as her being gay, people seem to forget that she was married twice and he first marriage was 22 years long for what it's worth.

Bewitched brings back childhood memories of grabbing my pillow and some snacks and getting snuggy in front of the TV. I believe the cast's love for each other (have read this elsewhere too) was infectious.
Thank u ! U just brought back my childhood memories! The same! 💕 Bewitched! Great fun stories! Great! Cast ! 💕💜💙from Australia
I love that Elizabeth Montgomery suggested her and swayed her!
That was great, as a child in Australia my brother and I used to love watching Bewitched as well as I Dream of Jeanie, Get Smart F Troup, and Green Acres they were great TV Shows.

Awww....truly the GOLDEN AGE!
I watched her in The Twilight Zone episode "The Invaders" years after it first aired, and was so impressed with her performance that it gave me a new perspective on how very talented she was. I never knew she did radio. Thanks for all of the info on her; she was truly a remarkable person and actress.
Same here. Her performance in that was superb.
Wow! Never realized she did anything before Bewitched.
73 years old and moving in with your mother. That's some genetics
Man...you ain't never lied.
I agree
I know, right?!
Both of those are great! They show just what a remarkable actress she was!
Agnes Moorehead is one of the great character actresses. Thank you for such a great insight into her life. Thank for digging in a little deeper than other folks.
It’s not confusing or contradictory, just take it from the person themselves. She sounds like a true, honest to goodness good person.
I just loved how she called Darrin "Derwood."
She was a gorgeous woman. Thankyou for such a great tribute. I too enjoy watching Bewitched reruns.
Agnes Moorhead is one of my favorite actresses. Intelligence, beauty and talent beyond belief. 💜 I followed her career as much as I could.
I loved Bewitched! Endora was always my favorite character. When I was little, I remember being fascinated by her eyes. Excellent job on this episode. You taught me a lot about Agnes that I didn't know. Thanks! ♥️
Great actress. There will never be another like her
Agnes Moorehead is unquestionably one of the finest actresses as well as being one of the most underrated actresses of the 20th century. She managed to preserve the integrity of her craft by not becoming a star whatever that is. I know what it isn't, if you're a star you're probably not at the top of your craft.
I Loved Agnes Moorehead . She was best in all her roles. RIP Agnes. No no one else can be like you.
Thank you for sharing with us, great job! I loved Agnes Moorhead in every part! Mega talent and her legacy lives on forever!
Wow this was so interesting! I used to watch Bewitched with my grandmother all the time. I always loved Endora but wish I knew all that about her acting back then.. she’s quite amazing.
Agnes was in one of my favorite TWILIGHT ZONE episodes. Where she plays a woman attacked by space men, and no dialogue from her.
Yes that was Academy Award level acting from Agnes.
That was a wild episode. I noticed right away the spoon she was using was humungus!

@@harperstacey9604 yeah can't believe I've never seen that episode of wild wild west.
For the twelfth time, Welles told Moorehead: "Now play it." After those rehearsals, her playing the scene had "a little bit of the hysteria, it had a little bit of the insanity, it had a little bit of the little girl...[H]e had mixed it all up in my mind so that the characterization that I played had a little bit of all of these; and it was terribly exciting."
Moorehead continued reflecting on Welles's directorial abilities: "He never directed obviously; he always directed in some strange oblique way where you thought 'Well, that isn't right at all.' But if you put your career or the role in his hands he loved to mold you the way he wanted and it was always much better than you could do yourself.

With Love from Washington State 💚🌲
She was outstanding in that. Stole the movie
Add me to the list of Agnes' fans who loved her in the role of Velma Cruther in H..HSC. Agnes epitomized what it means to be a "versatile actress". She was as great in smaller character roles (as she was as Velma) as she was as the leading character, time after time.
Oh wow, Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte scared me as a kid 😱
My cousin Marge Stover was very close to her and lived in Agnes' family home and she and her husband was the caretakers of her estate. IIRC, Agnes had arranged for the estate to be maintained for retreats by Muskingum College (now University) and Presbyterian folks. When I was travelling around after the Army and was visiting family, they put me up in her mansion. It was a great exploration and the lady reeeeaaaallly liked lavender (the color) and she had imported ebony chandeliers that were painted lavender.
Cool

I love your videos man. They're thoughtful, well put together and your appreciation for the subjects just leaps off the screen. Nice job.
I really appreciate that Gavin!
Don't you mean her mom died in 1987 not 1990? If Agnes was 74 when she died and her mom was at least 17 years older she would been 91 at time of her death so in 13 years she would have 104.
Very nice video. Thank you

Than you so much for this video! Like so many of us, I was fully aware of her terrific portrayal of Endora on Bewitched (she was so magnificent in that role) but only in the last year or so was I exposed to the body of her work and realized what an all around wonderful actress she truly was. Absolutely love and respect Agnes. Wouldn't mind at all if she was my mother in-law. Just amazed at how much she did over the years.
The best role she ever starred in was that of the rumpled and outspoken housekeeper, Velma Carruthers, in Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte. She should have won an award for that. What a performance!

David Lagares
So, it’s “important” to you that people “believe” that those you listed are gay? Why should I, or you, for that matter care about them? I believe they all personally “ outed” themselves. Sounds like you’re the one with the problem. Thought you didn’t “care”!
I’ll speak about “truth” any time I please, especially when those with an agenda find it acceptable to tell tall tales when the person involved can no longer dispute it.

Thank you, I always loved Agnes. No one was a better actress.
I loved Agnes , she was beautiful , talented , and had a great sense of humor as well as a strong moral compass. They don't make them like her anymore. And thanks for letting us know about st. George Utah , and how it is still radioactive after all these years. Someplace I will definitely avoid . It makes me wonder about all the other places in the u.s that might be still radioactive. Maybe you can do a list. Thx again great work .
Agnes Moorehead was incredible actress, talk about range! I learned so much here today, thank you 😁
WOW! what a perfect commentary on the fabulous life of the incomparable Agnes Moorehead. THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you.
TELL some stories if they aren't offensive
Interesting!
Yes I had heard Agnes was great friends with Lucille Ball.
Very interesting please share
@@rhondawebb3469 They appeared in The Big Street together. Wonderful film.
