You have to wonder two things: 1) What did they sign the Watson girl for, just general roles, or that movie specifically? 2) If season three went on, would Pat still be Marilyn?
@@charles2241 I'm pretty dang sure Pat would not have been back. However they might have signed the other actress even of there were no Minster movie. My Spidey senses tell me that's the case on both of your queries.
@@communityorganizer5645 The question is, did they get the awful movie results in quick enough to decide to pull the plug? Also recall, as Pat said, she was under contract too, so on the one hand, you would think they would give it to Pat, but on the other, why would you switch back to Pat if the movie were a success, assuming you made the movie because ratings for the show weren't good enough? Do recall there's some precedent with sticking with the tv girl, which may had been a completely different situation, but recall the situation when they made the Batman movie and didn't use the original Catwoman, and when they came back, if I'm not mistaken, they stayed with Julie Newmar. I think Eartha Kitt came along later, or, maybe, she came in right after the movie, I don't know. I was always thinking Newmar couldn't make the movie due to prior commitments, then the movie, then back to her on the tv show again. I checked and indeed that did occur, for Eartha wasn't in them till S3E13. While we know Watson was under contract, therefore used (the excuse) Kitt didn't have any work for four years after Batman. Both Debby and Pat had work immediately following the Munster series, so just for continuity's sake, you might stick with Pat, because apparently, they were pleased with both girls. Another thing about the Munsters movie, do remember, it wasn't just Watson that was the change, but going to color, and you'll notice also that an awful lot of movies in the period went out of their way to use redheads, therefore having more color on the set. You would presume, therefore, if the movie were a success, they would stick with Watson to have that extra color as well. In any event, I would wager to guess that if you made the move in the movie, you wouldn't use Pat again, but I'm not so sure they considered the Marilyn character important enough to think that deeply about it. They were basically putting in a new girl due to her youngness and maybe that extra color, but they were really banking on the switch to color I would bet. With all the problems with Fred Gwynne, you would also have to wonder, that if losing Fred were the end of the show, he might not had been willing to give it another go (though did the movie).
I think if the movie did good, they were going to go color for a 3rd season and they would have went with the new girl again. Personally, I would be happy with a 3rd season in black and white and keeping Pat Priest :)

Thank You Michele :)
Considering she was a young mother of two, and competing with other Hollywood hotties, it is amazing that she got as far as she did!...Most women-aside from Raquel welch-would have been shunned by Hollywood for being too domesticated.
The charm of the show was its quirkiness. I enjoyed seeing her in the series She endured beyond the series which is lovely. Life IS fleeting in fame or otherwise. I would love to met the last remaining characters. I did meet a few Star Trek legends at the conventions. I must see that Elvis movie. My mom loved Elvis. He passed away when I was 10 yrs. old. Howard Hughes the year before. My Papa retired from Hughe's tools in 1976. I have his certificate.
Love watching your videos man, I think it’s great how you unearth the little anecdotes about your subjects along with the details. Fantastic
I think with Fred Gwynne the reason why it blew up is alot of people knew of him, but never knew his backstory, and the overall feeling you get from it is jesus what a great guy,
I wish that they would release the whole series in color.
Disagree. As a purist The Munsters is strictly black and white and nothing else is acceptable. Same thing with The Andy Griffith Show.
You have such a sweet, loving voice. Thank you for your videos!!!!!
I loved all the freaky coincidents! I never really noticed her as th replacement Marilyn either so this was great, thanks!
Eddie Munster is still alive and lives in MO.
100 K subscribers, you certainly deserve it, your videos are well researched and well presented. I have been a subscriber for quite some time now and have always enjoyed your videos.
Thank you.
Good morning from down under. I’ll watch this later today, I need to feed our birds. We live on a farm.

Always loved the Munsters, they had the character "Marilyn" which is my name!! Enjoyed this video with history of Pat Priest , going to turn 69 in a few days!
Happy Birthday Marilyn 💜
Thanks man! Pat's the prettiest gal I've seen since watching her on The Munsters when I was 7 in 1964.
Another newbie in the door thanks to Fred Gwynne -- and now I can't stop watching! This is the very best kind of mental popcorn and I thank you for it. Really well done. (If you take requests, BTW, have you considered a video on Jon Bauman? An incredibly multi-faceted life, and as with Ms. Priest there's a happy-part ending, as he is still very much among us.) Keep up the lovely, positive work, and all the best to you!
One of the most beautiful women that ever lived!
I had no idea that she was so physically attractive...it was trendy back then, for starlets to do Playboy photo features...I wonder if she ever considered that!
Thank you & Congrats!
Blessings

Awesome channel and retrospectives! Glad to have found it through the algorithm! 🎉
Awesome! Thank you!
Congratulations! I knew you were worried for nothing I knew your channel would take off 🥳you just have to find the right audience. I was really young when the Munsters were on TV but I did notice the change in actresses and honestly I preferred Pat🥰😎💯
Omg one of the best shows ever along with the Adams Family 😅🥰.
Ivy Baker Priest was my Aunt and Pat is my cousin. My name is Jennifer Baker, the daughter of Kent Lee Baker. I had a photo of me when I was about 2, just walking, holding my Aunt Ivys hand walking in a park at a family picnic in Southern California where I was born and lived there until I turned 13, we ( my family ) then moved to Washington State. So would love to say hi to my cousin Pat, since I don’t think we have ever met. My Dad, Kent Baker was born in Utah.
Thanks for all of your work on this and other videos. I have always had the biggest crush on Pat!
Thank you for this informative video about Pat Priest!
Thank You Betsy. I figured the world need a biography on Pat 😁
