For a while I had a brace on my wrist from overwork as an animator, and she called me over to ask about it. She'd had a similar problem and strongly recommended vitamin B6, which I took for years (and it helped). Wonderful lady and a great conversationalist; we spoke a few times after that and I just loved her like crazy- have since I was four, and still do. What a beauty, in every sense.

I meet this lovely lady at a convention in Pasadena Ca. I was working the show with a vendor and ran into her getting her table set up. We talked for almost an hour. She was so kind and was donating all the money she got for her autographs to breast cancer awareness. At that time my mom was going through her own battle with that horrible disease. I remember telling her that I would get so excited whenever I saw that batgirl motorcycle fly across the screen in the beginning of the show. She was such an amazing person making so many of her fans feel special. Rest In Peace sweet angel.
I contacted Yvonne on her web page to buy an autographed photo of her in the Batgirl outfit for my brother.. I thanked her for being part of a group that brought so much happiness and joy into our home. She told me that she only did 14 episodes of batman and she had so much fun doing it, she would have done it for free. She was so nice!
Got her autograph, at a comic convention. She was very sweet and took the time to talk with those who came to her table. She continues to be one of my favorite actresses and that will never change. RiP dear.
She was one of my first TV crushes at 8. I almost skipped this episode because while I loved her Batgirl I thought from the title that this video would be limited to things I already knew. What’s stupid is she should have gotten PE credit in high school for her ballet, training, exercise, and performances. Great bio thank you! Lots of great clips. I have had a big crush on her for years!
School systems still have morons who try to hold you back. Example: long ago, a Superintendent of Schools said I couldn't graduate high school if I attended a local college Calculus course, they didn't offer. So I "warmed a chair" in Algebra class and read a Calculus book instead, making fun of the clown official. I graduated and earned honors in computers at the Univ. of VA. The moral: Education morons can't hold you back. Your success is the great revenge.
I think the lady was just naturally gifted in acting and used her outstanding dancing ability to help propel her to superstardom. Being at the right place at the right time and willing to do whatever required on set. She must have been a very good people person. Who knows if she had to sleep with any producers or directs, but it sounds like she just charmed everyone. With the amount of work she received from so many different shows kind of a TV icon. Didn't hurt that she was easy on the eyes, beautiful and athletic. Loved the story about the girl in the supermarket. I kind of feel that ABC really dropped the ball on the Batman show. They had a sure fire hit and should of gave it another season until the rating finally dropped off. The fact that she had a relationship with Elvis was hardly shocking news. Seems to be par for the course. Sounds like she lived a great life.
great point I mean if your event is done and your around the lunch table with most most beautiful athletes around the globe lots of baby making going on without protection. That would really make a fascinating documentary. I have heard bits and pieces but a full HBO documentary could be great. @@cavvieira
Wow, she co-starred with Susan Oliver in the Gene Krupa story, the only other actor to play a green Orion slave girl in Star Trek original series. Thank you for making this video!
That was going to be my freaky surprise. Since they would both play many kinds of similar roles, I wonder if she and Susan knew each other. Both were stunning and captivating actresses.
Hey, you know, you're quite good at this stuff. I'm new to your channel and I had a brief connection with Yvonne back in 1966(when I was 12). She was a featured star at a telethon in Pittsburgh, Pa that summer. I pledged all my lawn mowing money, if only I could talk to her on the phone. I got my wish. I'll never forget how nice it was to have my puppy love tell me she was very flattered by my compliments and that she thought I was sweet. Imagine that at 12 years old !
They had a wild time making the part where she played the Orion Slave Girl. The lab developing the film was turning her pink, thinking the studio had made a mistake. The studio thought there was something wrong with how they were filming it. Later when the studio called the lab. The lab complained "You guy are screwing something up, we are having a hard time color correcting your film". The studio angrily told them "She is supposed to be green you idiots".
@@CoolClassics This is a GREAT tribute to such an underrated talent & a respectful composite documentary of the unique woman who was Yvonne Craig. As a young boy in the 60s, I always thought she was BEAUTIFUL with an AWESOME body & THE MOST GORGEOUS LEGS EVER!!!! During the '70s & '80s, I'd search the TV Guide for my favorite actresses. When I knew she would be in a show, I made certain to be home & I'd tune-in. I still adore her with great devotion & collect every movie & TV show available with Yvonne Craig. Dawn Wells opened the door to my puberty...BUT...Yvonne Craig was the focus of my ravenous libido...!!!!OMG...THOSE LEGS OF HERS!!!! :-) Best regards, Ben
@@ericmcconnaughey2782 Wrong Orion slave girl -- the one you're thinking of, from "The Cage" (aka "The Menagerie"), was Susan Oliver (who co-starred w Yvonne in the "Gene Krupa Story"). The OSG Yvonne played was from Episode "Whom Gods Destroy"...
I met her at a convention in the nineties. I asked her if she had a funny story from her Batman days. Yvonne was built like a barbie doll but wasn't very tall, maybe 5'1". She said they were filming a scene where Batman (Adam West) was leading her and Robin (Burt Ward) down an alley. Batman was in the lead, then her and then Robin. At the end of the alley, they're supposed to stop and look around the corner. Well, at the end of the alley Batman puts his hand back to stop them...and it lands on her ample bosom! Adam lost it and they had to stop a bit until things got under control! It was a funny memory she had from that series.
I laughed at this, because basically the same thing happened to me in junior high school. I was fooling around with some friends in the lunch room, when a girl we knew came up to us to say "Hi!" She was right behind me and I didn't see her, and I spun around to go over to the snack counter and my hand landed right on her more-than "ample bosom." I hadn't intended to, and she could see I hadn't even known she was there. We both laughed so hard we had to sit down!
LOL this is so awesome... when I was a little boy before I "liked" girls I would watch the Batman tv show and whenever Batgirl would come on I would be so happy I just thought she was the prettiest! Good memories!
Man, she was an absolute knock-out! This was a great episode my man! Thank you for all of your hard work and research to make these videos happen. I enjoy them so much!
Thanks for posting this. I had occasionally wondered about her, but I never found the time to discover information. Your video popped up in my feed suggestions, and I am happy that it did.
She has always been a favorite actress of mine…. Loved her best as Batgirl, had a boyhood crush on her… Seen a lot of the movies she was in and guest appearances over the years as well…
Wow! What a great deep dive into a treasured memory. I had no idea Yvonne had such a varied career. Elvis? Are you kidding?! You did a wonderful job exploring the career of one of my favorite actresses. Thank you!
Much respect for this channel. I am 41 and yet I find myself drawn to the classic portion of the entertainment industry way more than the current times. Very "cool" indeed!! Had a Huge crush on her watching Batman as a kid too lol!
I'm always amazed at how many obscure video clips Cool Classics manages to unearth and present while making these videos. That must involve a lot of long hours and diligent digging. It's always a joy to see familiar actors in their lesser-known works, and earlier in their careers. Thanks for finding those clips and sharing them with us.
Thank You! Some of these videos take 2 weeks to put together. It really means a lot to hear others enjoy these early clips that are hardly ever seen :)
She also had four appearances on Love American Style and appeared in the second episode of the TV series, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. And she appeared in The Big Valley and played a Russian ballerina in the James Coburn spy movie, In Like Flint. Another piece of trivia is that her appearance in Death Valley Days was the very first color episode ever aired for that series.
Yvonne Craig was a stunner! I have the distinct honor of knowing a woman who bears a striking resemblance to the older version of Yvonne. I kid her about it all the time. RIP Batgirl.
Wow!! She was great in Star Trek!! Good acting... Love the back story... The 4th season on NBC, what would have happened Batman. Hollywood ...ABC and NBC shared same sets. She was so talented!!
I spent the day with Yvonne and her sister Meridel in SanFrancisco where she was promoting her autobiography’From Ballet to the Batcave and Beyond…such a fun evening with the two sisters. Meridel owned a video store in the East Bay and we would have some great conversations between customers. She was one of my first friends when i moved to California. One day, i was ordering a vhs of Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Meridel mentioned that her Sister played a roll in an episode…that is when i found out who her sister was. She asked my if i would like an autographed photo. Well, YES!!! THEY WERE SUCH WONDERFUL PEOPLE.
Michael, I loved them both as well. Meridel was so sweet, and you could tell she enjoyed working with her sister. Yvonne was always so nice to me and my family. She told me some fun things too. I first met the ladies during a meeting they set up with me in 1996 at the airport in Pittsburgh. During our visit, while all the ladies (my wife, mother, Yvonne and Meridel) compared jewelry, I asked Yvonne if she ever intended to write her autobiography. Her comment was "... I have thought about it, and have even written a few pages. But I just don't think anyone would be interested" My reply was, "you were in Batman, so there is a big fan base. Then Star Trek, and even bigger fan base. Plus the 2 Elvis movies.. Huge fan base. I think people would buy your book." When I got home, I sent her 6 reams of paper, coffee and a mug, along with a note that read "Write your book" A year later, we had "From Ballet to the Batcave and Beyond" If you check out her acknowledgements in the book, you will see she mentions it.
How interesting. She was very talented and gorgeous. "Like I was just standing there digging the universe, like I was connecting with the unity of everything, and my ego was merging with the great unconscious." Fast forward to today....W0W Thank you Cool Classics!!!!
@@CoolClassics your research work is outstanding and it is amazing to find out how, not only celebrities, but some people in general lives magically transform when they don't allow fear to get in the way. Thx!
That was a great video. She was a talented dancer and actress. She seemed to be down to earth too.I tried getting her memoir, but it's hard to get. Thank you for your great videos.
I’m so glad I found your channel I love the respect you have in your voice when you talk about the actors . So respectful and full of joy when you talk about you subjects . Thanks so much I feel so blessed to have found your channel 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for the of review of Yvonne's life and career! Such a gorgeous, capable and charming lady! 🥰 Seeing her in the costume she was wearing in Mchale's Navy had me thinking she could have done a great job of playing Jennie in I Dream Of Jennie since she had the stunning looks and perkiness and could easily play serious, innocent, strong and precocious.
She's been one of my favorite actresses since I was a kid. She was terrific as Batgirl and was the best thing about Season 3. I was so sad when she passed away. Iconic entertainer, RIP.
That was some show. It'd b hard to describe how cool that show was for a couple of years back then, as evidenced by how many actors from every corner of the profession wanted to be on it .I love how Commissioner Gordon could never figure out that Batgirl was his daughter.
I read an interview of her in Starlog where she said "If you sent anything to Paramount for me to sign and got it back, it is a forgery. Paramount never gave me anything to sign for anyone." This impacted how I looked at getting autographs for the rest of my life. Later a dealer friend found a custom picture someone had made of her from Star Trek and a few years after that I took it to get signed by her. This was the Men in the Masks Star Wars tour and there was nobody in line for her, so I got to talk to her for about 40 minutes. She held up the picture and said "This is the first picture of me in this outfit that shows the whole thing, usually y they are cut off here." indicating about the hips. "You know, I had the opportunity to keep that outfit when I left out of there 'pause' I'm really glad I didn't." This was the first time she was motivated to tell this story and in about 5 years she was gone. How many more times did she get to tell that story? Who knows, but if I don't share it, it will be lost.
In her later years she did scifi, comic, and cult classic fan club, convention appearances. Often also attended by a number of other notable women including Maimie Van Doren, Angelique Pettyjohn "Shana" of "Star Trek; Gamesters of Triskelion", Tura Satana "Varla" of Russ Meyers' "Faster Pussycat Kill Kill", Haji, and Julie Williams of the same movie, and many other Russ Meyer's stars including his ex wife Kitten Natividad. They formed a group of long time friends some of whom I have met through an acquaintance with Kitten Natividad. They were all absolutely the sweetest women I ever met.
Wow this video is awesome. I always loved her as Batgirl in the Batman Television Show. This video is an amazing tribute to her. Also the information about the Perry Mason Series is the absolute end. Her accomplishments are amazing!!!!
This Definitely deserves a Like! What a Gorgeous Lady! Yvonne Craig is a Lovely Lovely Lady! So lucky to have grown up watching Batman..... and Batgirl! ❤
I had no idea Yvonne played in so much before Batman! I think most people thought the same thing about her. Great video! Quite a career she had! And yes, she was a beautiful girl!
I was born after "Batman" was canceled, but Yvonne Craig was one of my childhood crushes, along with (in no particular order) Wonder Woman, the Bionic Woman, and Marcia Brady. It was always a letdown when they would roll the opening credits, and she wasn't going to be in that rerun; I learned very quickly how to spot the 3rd season opening. As a result of the show, I never liked the Batman movies of modern times; Caesar Romero will always be my favorite Joker. If you haven't already, maybe you could do a video on his life and times?
One of my favorite movies she did was High Time with Bring Crosby. Kind of an early version of Back To School. I never got to meet her but I did get to meet Adam West and Burt Ward when I was growing up in Pa. They were doing some promo work in Philadelphia and showed up as Batman & Robin in the Batmobile and signed a few autographs. I think I was about 7 or 8 at the time.
Batman 66, Star Track, Elvis. Though I was aware she was wholesome and all class in real life, I didn't know half of these facts about Yvonne. As a kid in the 70's Batman and Elvis and Captain Kirk were so cool, lol. As a kid she was Batgirl, Batman's other backup. Smart and beautiful and who could kick the crap out of Penguin's guys or go to toe to tie with Catwoman. I adore her still. I hope to see more of her older movies. Wierdly enough, I subscribed to DC Comics Birds of Prey featuring Barbara Gardon in an evolved role as Oracle, rather than Barmtgirl, for nearly 10 years in my 40's. She was part of my childhood escapes to other worlds as a kid, along side other talented beauties like Barbara Eden, Elizabeth Montgomery, Nichelle Nichols, Tina Louise, etc. I'm a huge fan of Yvonne Craig and hope to do a graphite art piece of her, I have an 8 by 10 shot of her in a bikini for subject matter I got off ebay. I've loved her, Batman and Batgirl, since childhood. In my beach side Studio apartment you may find an unusual piece next to the books and tropical fish figures and the glass dolphin. I have I five inch hand painted Batman 66 Batgirl bust in the image of Yvonne Craig. I turn 60 in October, and let me just say this: RIP lovely talented one, you were and always will be one of my angels of mercy, creating dreams during a very troubled childhood. You helped me escape dark things in suburbia of all places. Much love always, and perhaps I'll see you relatively soon if God grants me to go where all of you angels spend eternity.
Wow. I can't imagine her becoming a realtor. I wonder why she left acting. I remember her from Batman. And did not know she was Orion girl until around 5 years ago. It's really fun to hear all of this other information. Thanks for the research. I wonder what peoples reaction were to find out Batgirl was selling their house!
absolutely love her i wrote to her a couple of times and she sent me signed pics to me/ one time i sent her money to cover the coast and she sent it back / i soo wish i could have met this beautiful woman in person!!!!
Thank you so much for the detailed history of Yvonne. I too met her when she was signing her book. She was my personal favorite hot 60s female. When people would ask Bewitched or Jeannie? I would say, it's Batgirl Yvonne Craig was the absolute hottest 60s babe!! When I finally met her she was an elder grandma. All of your photos sure bring back how gorgeous she was. WHOOOFF!!!
Met her in 1996 at a convention in Harrisburg, PA. Got the chance to chat with her for a few minutes. She may have put on a few pounds by then but she was still gorgeous.

How I miss her, she was glorious; beautiful and dynamic and so talented.
'should of gave it'.. common error; it's should have given it.
Look at Elvis, look at her, both in their prime... it's like imagining olympic athletes not having a fling during the games: impossible.
great point I mean if your event is done and your around the lunch table with most most beautiful athletes around the globe lots of baby making going on without protection.
😁👍
That's right!
Their both in this trailer ruclips.net/video/6MY24t3c6-I/видео.html
That was going to be my freaky surprise.
Since they would both play many kinds of similar roles, I wonder if she and Susan knew each other.
Both were stunning and captivating actresses.
I loved Batgirl!!! She made the show so beautiful and fun! ❤
I was 6 when Batman came out.😊
I found this so interesting and enjoyable. She was cool as Batgirl and one of the best episodes of Star Trek.
Heeeeeyyyy! My favorite crush of the 60’s which began with her co-starring role with Elvis Presley in Kissing Cousins
Oh My! 🤣🤣🤣
@@TheNeonRabbit You're correct, the point of the scene was that the Talosians were exploiting Pike's fantasies.
@@CoolClassics This is a GREAT tribute to such an underrated talent & a respectful
composite documentary of the unique woman who was Yvonne Craig.
Dawn Wells opened the door to my puberty...BUT...Yvonne Craig was the focus of
my ravenous libido...!!!!OMG...THOSE LEGS OF HERS!!!! :-)
Best regards,
Ben
@@ericmcconnaughey2782 Wrong Orion slave girl -- the one you're thinking of, from "The Cage" (aka "The Menagerie"), was Susan Oliver (who co-starred w Yvonne in the "Gene Krupa Story"). The OSG Yvonne played was from Episode "Whom Gods Destroy"...
@@jimgutt749 well, they were both green and it isn't easy being green.
Was born in 67 so these shows were in syndication already & do recall as a 5-6 year old being fascinated.🦇
Oh My! lol
Lucky him
LOL this is so awesome... when I was a little boy before I "liked" girls I would watch the Batman tv show and whenever Batgirl would come on I would be so happy I just thought she was the prettiest! Good memories!
I just love how positive and informative your videos are. No salacious clickbait.
Wonderful soul. May she and those now gone, rest in eternal bliss ❤️
💜🙏
Batgirl is one of my top5 superheroes. and Yvonne is one of the main reason of it.
💜👍
Man, she was an absolute knock-out! This was a great episode my man! Thank you for all of your hard work and research to make these videos happen. I enjoy them so much!
Thanks for posting this. I had occasionally wondered about her, but I never found the time to discover information. Your video popped up in my feed suggestions, and I am happy that it did.
Glad it was helpful!
EXCELLENT VIDEO. I grew up in the '60s/'70s - and I was CRAZY FOR BATMAN !! ...
but, TBO, Yvonne Craig / Batgirl was my FAVOURITE!! So, thank you!
She has always been a favorite actress of mine…. Loved her best as Batgirl, had a boyhood crush on her… Seen a lot of the movies she was in and guest appearances over the years as well…
Dang, Yvonne Craig costarred with Susan Oliver in a movie years before Star Trek! Amazing.
And then both played green Orion Slave Women on ST....
What movie were they both in?
The Gene Krupa Story (1959)
I absolutely adored her and I was able to have the pleasure to speak with her a few years before she passed away.♥️
WOW❗️❗️❗️
An awesome life story about her & she was absolutely gorgeous❗️❗️❗️
Wow! What a great deep dive into a treasured memory. I had no idea Yvonne had such a varied career. Elvis? Are you kidding?! You did a wonderful job exploring the career of one of my favorite actresses. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it
Much respect for this channel.
She should have gotten her own show and been a bigger star. What a great talent.
She turned out to be very versatile. I love her looks. I also wanted to be Batgirl after I saw her in Batman .
@@batdave65 sounds like a very special time, indeed.
Her role as Bat-Girl was only the second female super-hero on TV, after Irish McCalla as Sheena.
How interesting. She was very talented and gorgeous.
"Like I was just standing there digging the universe, like I was connecting with the unity of everything, and my ego was merging with the great unconscious."
Fast forward to today....W0W
Thank you Cool Classics!!!!
Those were some trippy lines she had there 😉
@@CoolClassics your research work is outstanding and it is amazing to find out how, not only celebrities, but some people in general lives magically transform when they don't allow fear to get in the way. Thx!
That was a great video. She was a talented dancer and actress. She seemed to be down to earth too.I tried getting her memoir, but it's hard to get. Thank you for your great videos.
Best television years to grow up in the 60`s and 70`s .
I’m so glad I found your channel
I love the respect you have in your voice when you talk about the actors .
Thanks for the beautiful tribute and great career video of this awesome actress.
I remember seeing every single episode of "BATMAN" when I was much younger and boy did I enjoy watching it very much.
Please think positive daily. ©®

My daugher is just like her. Thanks for the great historical research! Amazing!
That is awesome!
I loved Batman from the beginning. Bat Girl was icing on the cake for this little girl.
Incredibel work or reseach. Very interesting video. Really great work, I do thank you!
Many thanks!
Absolutely! They have to share their stories and we must share ours, like you just did 😁👍
Beautiful life. Thank you. Alway knew I loved her. It’s nice to know her a little. Holy Superstar.
Such a classic, beautiful person!
Beautiful career 👏 👌 ❤️ thanks we miss ya boo
Thanks for the presentation on Bat Girl. I enjoy looking to see how they made it to stardom
Never met her, but I've always loved and admired beautiful, talented dancers, and she was one!
I, of course, am well known for my purity, and would never see "Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill." You believe me, right?
What a life!! Thank you for nice video
I’m a big fan of this beautiful lady!! Loved her in Elvis movies and more!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🥰🥰🥰🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Wow. All the times I saw her on TV and never once recognized her!
Me either! :)
Thanks for this,What a darling she was and I was one of those admiring boys back then. So sad to hear she has left us. REP Batgirl!
Wow this video is awesome. I always loved her as Batgirl in the Batman Television Show. This video is an amazing tribute to her. Also the information about the Perry Mason Series is the absolute end. Her accomplishments are amazing!!!!
Glad you liked it!
Very respectfully done, unfortunately I never had the chance to meet her. I still have a crush on her at 65. Thanks
Yes, Ceasar needs a video too! 😁
Looks like my list though I'd sub in Julie Newmar for Marcia.
Nice.
😁👍
I have The Gene Krupa Story on dvd and had no idea. Fascinating to make connections like that. It's a great movie!
It really is a good movie.
I ended up watching the whole thing, while researching Yvonne :)
Wow what a lovely and talented lady. She was really just the whole package.
Bravo my friend Bravo !!! Off to binge on more My Mother is having a grand time thank you so much making her this happy....!!!
Wonderful!
Thanks for another great adventure with you.
Thank You again!
I keep waiting for you to make a video of some dioramas, trains or something :)
This was a great retrospective of the luminous Ms Craig's career! I loved it, and I thank you for creating such a heartfelt tribute!
Donna Douglas ( Elly May ) also became a Realitor :)
Maybe the acting roles dried up as she got older? She could act but got those acting jobs to a great degree because of her looks.
absolutely love her i wrote to her a couple of times and she sent me signed pics to me/ one time i sent her money to cover the coast and she sent it back / i soo wish i could have met this beautiful woman in person!!!!
Wow! Thank You for sharing that! 😁👍
She was awesome! So sad to her she passed away. RIP Batgirl...
