I remember my fourth grade class had a field trip to Rockefeller Center NBC studios. We toured many facilities one of which was an active recording of a a production with Agnes Moorehead in it. We watched behind a sound proofed glass wall as she was being attended by make up artists. She sat there very regal as they did their work. I saw the production on NBC later that week.
I was thinking the same thing. Even if she had a project to promote, they allowed more room to have an actual chat. The mark of a truly good interview is when you feel like you’re listening in on a conversation. It helps that Agnes was a genuinely interesting person.
Agnes reminds me of my grandmother, who inherited the farm after her husband died. She and her son ran it. She continued with a 2-acre garden until her '90s. And she'd walk around the house in a bright flowy day dress.
What a sophisticated lady she was, besides being an extraordinary actress. Agnes Moorehead was so intelligent and one in a million. Thank you for sharing this interview. She seemed always intriguing to me and that, by itself, is so fascinating. A serious and consummate professional. There are no more Agnes Mooreheads in Hollywood, unfortunately.
She was in an episode of Alfred Hitchcock where she never said a single word. Everything was through her acting ability. It was fenominal! I'll watch anything that has her in it! The "stars" of today could learn alot from her! A total classy woman!
Agnes was amazing at her ability to adapt to any performance. She really was an eloquent and elegant Lady in every sense nothing at all like Endora as one naturally assumes the character played is the person in real life. 😂
What a delightful and classy lady who was more of a celebrity than most people will ever know....nice to see the wholesome dialogue of these times...we have fallen far away from this level of decorum. Thanks for posting!
I'm not sure why you feel she was underrated. She was not leading lady material due to her unconventional looks (she was striking and attractive, but not in the pretty-pretty, movie star way required back then). So in fact despite that setback, she enjoyed great success and fame. It's a shame someone calling themselves 'Consrignrant' couldn't express a view here without descending into childish abuse. He just revealed himself to be a fool, with no class. Sad!
I only know Agnes from Bewitched, though from researching her I understand that she had a long career, especially in theatre. I also learned she died from cancer at the relatively early age of 73 (early especially compared to her mom who died at 106, 16 years after her daughter!) because she was in the doomed cast of The Conqueror which was filmed close to nuclear trials resulting in many of the cast and crew dying from cancer including John Wayne, Susan Hayward and Agnes.
Her farm was in my neck of the woods! Athens, Ohio, or somewhere close to it :) that's nice to know, cause she was my favorite character of this series :)
She was so much bigger as an actress than just Bewitched, she not even wanted to be part of it at first, but im glad she did, not only because Endora was the light of the party of that show, but also because made her character a tv pop icon bring new fans to check it out everything else she did
I've always loved Endora. I could listen to her talk for hours. I was a big Bewitched fan back in the day. I was recently surprised to learn that at the time I started watching Bewitched Agnes Morehead was already deceased. I think the lady that first played the original Mrs.Kravitz and Aunt Clara were also dead as well.
Agnes Morehead was a beautiful true Lady. She was extremely private and in rare interviews like this, she kept the conversation neutral. Her career left us with a plethora of fascinating movies. She will always be one of my most favorites.

mileybird1 if you get Sirius radio, they have old time radio shows like Jack Benny, Gunsmoke, detectives, Dragnet etc. My favorite channel ✌️
Dan Merchant I will be sure to listen.
ok Dan, you DO know she was in dozens and dozens of films as well, right? Her acting/film accolades are numerous, to be sure.
She really deserved an Oscar for Citizen Kane...acted the hell out of her few minutes on screen.
She was a avid Bible reader according to Elizabeth Montgomery. Said Agnes brought her Bible to the set everyday.
She’s of a generation that had character and integrity like other similar stars of her era.
I received some flak for making a similar comment.
@@carmenfrisicaro9890Doubtless from those lacking character and integrity.
That fact, in fact, was used to assure those worried that the show might dabble in real occult. "You can be SURE Miss Moorehead would not be in it if so! Relax"... etc.
@carmen: flak!? Sad! I'm kind of moth & flame about religion for ME, but deeply respect those of solid faith.
Wonderful lady! 💗
All the productions she did with orson Wells was legendary in itself. So underrated!
You speak the truth, Kemo Sabe !! :-)
We need to see more full versions of these archives. So many great actors and artists who are no longer with us. So much more interesting than most of the useless people in Hollywood now.
I agree. Today's so-called actors/actresses just want to force their political views on everyone. As if they're view matters!
@@dianetheisen8664 I got a DVD of Michael Sarrazin the other day & was surprised to see Agnes Moorehead in the cast.A heck of a cast too.Until then I had only seen her in Bewitched. She was amazing.Michael Sarrazin,I feel, was grossly underrated.RIP to them both.
That’s nostalgia. People are still very interesting. Being jaded is commonplace.
@@dianetheisen8664 totally agree! If they think that their view is going to sway my mind, they've got another thing coming. I listen to what the candidate says, if I agree with them, then they get my vote.
Very elegant lady, very smart too. I've never seen this interview before. Thanks for posting.
I downloaded the whole 8 seasons of bewitched and really love all the actors... they are all sorely missed!
Where from please?
She was an amazing woman. She talks here of her farm. I was today years old to find out about that. She had so much talent, and they barely scratched the surface of her depth of talent. If only she could have lived so much longer
Wow. Amazing to think of "Endora" as a serious farmer AND a Beverly Hills socialite/movie star. Talk about polar opposite vocations! Cool, down to earth lady, and a great actress.
I was a bit surprised to see her not only looking and sounding like Endora but DRESSING like her as well. (Although Mr. Pintar did mention in his Bewitched video that some cast members often wore their own clothes when shooting the series).
ok.. but, you DO know she had an incredible acting career BEFORE Bewitched, right?
@@Nunofurdambiznez Yes, of course. Her work in the golden days of radio and Hollywood, with Orson Wells, in Citizen Kane, etc. Makes her farm vocation even more interesting/unusual. LOL ...I'm thinking Eva Gabor in "Green Acres"!
A delightful interview! Mr. Cavett was always able to get stars to relax and reveal the many facets of their lives. I admired Ms. Moorehead's performance in Johnny Belinda, and in Bewitched. Thank you for sharing this. ❤️
Agnes was a great actor and a very classy lady. R.I.P Agnes!!
My grandfather hated farms. He always said it's no fun living on a farm. When my grandma married him he owned two gas stations and a grocery store and two apartment buildings. But he absolutely hated farms with a passion. I think it may been negative childhood memories. Agnes Moorehead would have been fun to hang around.
She was so talented, so cool to find out how down to earth she was.
Kasey Rogers (the 2nd Mrs. Tate) once said of Aggie, "Aggie was bigger than life, yet very down to Earth." Sonething you normally don't find in a person "bigger than life.." But Aggie was a real and true gem!! 💜 and miss you, Aggie!! ⚘️
Agnes Moorhead was always dressed so sharp and was always glamorous. RIP to this classy lady and terrific actress. ❤🙏 💐
Yesterday, I watching Charlotte’s Web (1973) with my children. I did not realize she was the Goose.
Today - I’m preaching a Mother’s Day sermon and using her care for her mom as an illustration. She provided for her mom long after Agnes’ death.
Agnes Moorehead was everything today's Hollywood is not, i.e., classy, talented, God-fearing, literate, intellectual, and cultured.
God-fearing?! LOL. What world are you living in that that is your standard?
@@Person-mh6xq Agnes was a deeply religious woman who often had her bible with her on the set of Bewitched.
@@Person-mh6xq I'm not sure if I understand your comment. I'm not sure if you are denying that Moorehead was God-fearing or that it was wrong for her to be God-fearing.
That is general society today!
@@carmenfrisicaro9890 Agnes Moorehead was gay. There are countless gay people who believe in God.
What a surprising woman! Actress and very hardworking!
My mother used to love Agnes on Bewitched, I was always frightened by her, but as the years go by I like her more and more. She seems very classy. And anyway, Darren had it coming
Endora scared me too!
She never scared me. When I was a kid I thought she was imposing.
The One And Only;
The Lovely Agnes Moorehead
♡♡♡
Back when you could have a real conversation without having to plug a movie.
or a book but in this case, quite unexpectedly a farm lol
You can still do that today....?
@@志瑜杨 Today, talk show guests are only promoting their movies, or tv shows. In the 1970s, it was more about having an interesting conversation.
@@志瑜杨
All the time.
One of Hollywood's greatest actresses 💜💜
What a sophisticated lady she was, besides being an extraordinary actress. Agnes Moorehead was so intelligent and one in a million. Thank you for sharing this interview. She seemed always intriguing to me and that, by itself, is so fascinating. A serious and consummate professional. There are no more Agnes Mooreheads in Hollywood, unfortunately.
She was also The First Lady of Suspense, especially for Sorry, Wrong "Number"
I always loved Agnes Moorehead & felt she was so talented and so totally underrated for such a Talented Great Actress.
She's one of the best..Such a sweet lady
Awesome Woman and absolutely stunning in her day. Truly unique.
She was in an episode of Alfred Hitchcock where she never said a single word. Everything was through her acting ability.
It was fenominal!
I'll watch anything that has her in it!
The "stars" of today could learn alot from her!
A total classy woman!
That was The Twilight Zone : The Invaders
Thank you so much to the person who made this rare interview available where Agnes Moorhead was just Agnes Moorehead!
I Adore this Lady
She made alot of movies
Man
😭😭😭😭😭❤I miss u my endora ty for coming to me in my dreams I love you
She had a legendary career beside bewitched tv show,
Worked with Orson Welles in the Mercury Theatre. She was in Citizen Kane, playing Kane’s mother when he was a boy.
Yes she was in numerous movies in the 40s and 50s. I've seen her on TMC. And she didn't look like Endora!
Underrated. Brilliant.
Agnes was amazing at her ability to adapt to any performance. She really was an eloquent and elegant Lady in every sense nothing at all like Endora as one naturally assumes the character played is the person in real life. 😂
She was wonderful in everything I saw her in. Loved her in Bewitched. Grateful that she would do that show with her extensive background.
What a delightful and classy lady who was more of a celebrity than most people will ever know....nice to see the wholesome dialogue of these times...we have fallen far away from this level of decorum. Thanks for posting!
What a wonderful entertainer she was and pure class !!!!!
She was a good actress, actually underrated.
I thought she was very underrated connie the spotlight was on someone else in bewitched
She wasn't underrated at all. You're talking out of your ass.
Sad!
How right you are ! VERY underrated !
Much more than Endora she was a great Actress.
Somebody should have told the idiot host...!
What a beautiful woman! Thank you for this peek at her personality.
A farmer was once asked what he would do if he had a million dollars. He said, Keep farming and when its gone I still be farming.
Always loved hearing and watching Agnes perform. Agnes was a good looker too.
Known by my generation for her role as Endora of Bewitched, Agnes Moorhead had a very long, amazing career.
Her farm was in my neck of the woods! Athens, Ohio, or somewhere close to it :) that's nice to know, cause she was my favorite character of this series :)
Her farm was between Cumberland and New Concord I believe
The people for the set of Bewitched said what you see is what you get with Agnes. Great interview. Thanks for sharing this.
Every show she has ever done has been absolutely wonderful. YES even in Bewitched
She's wonderful in every way possible.
WOWW I haven't seen her in an interview before, This was a Great Treat!! THANKYOU 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😊
She was so much bigger as an actress than just Bewitched, she not even wanted to be part of it at first, but im glad she did, not only because Endora was the light of the party of that show, but also because made her character a tv pop icon bring new fans to check it out everything else she did
she became a gay icon
She was such a good ACTRESS in that she seemed so natural in ALL her parts , movies and on the radio. She acted on So many dramatic radio shows
I've always loved Endora.
This aired in 1973. Sadly, she passed away the following year. 😓
What a charming and interesting lady she was. On of the best and most underrated actresses ever.
I aint never seen Endora interviewed this was cool man -thanks -
John Delcher she would have corrected your grammer
@@wurly164 grammer
Agnes Morehead was a beautiful true Lady. She was extremely private and in rare interviews like this, she kept the conversation neutral. Her career left us with a plethora of fascinating movies. She will always be one of my most favorites.
Aha, that's where she probably gets that wonderful grandness, English/ Irish parents, makes a lot of sense, I adored her even as a small child. Thanks for this lovely, if rather agricultural interview x
She was truly a lovely lady in every sense of the word!
Agnes Moorehead was highly educated and highly respected and had a great life!
I always think she was the best in bewitched . amazing lady! Very classy very talented. Thank you!
One of the sweetest movies you'll ever see..."Our Vines Have Tender Grapes" starring Ms. Moorehead, Edward G. Robinson and Margaret O'Brien.
I’ve seen her in old movies. Very good actress. Love her character on Bewitched.
“The first woman of suspense!” Suspense, the highly rated radio program declared her that!
Absolutely wonderful actress and person!!- wish I could have known this woman!
