🤣🤣🤣I was just a kid when Lynde was on the Hollywood Squares so, the majority of his jokes went right over my head. I would still laugh because he just had great delivery. (I laughed but didn’t know why I was laughing.) Now I totally get his one-liners. He had some great zingers! 🤣🤣🤣

As a little girl, I loved the 1973 Charlotte’s Web cartoon movie. I used to watch it over and over. I can recognize his voice anywhere as Templeton the rat. He’s very animated and was born to be in show biz. I’m so glad he didn’t give up, and got himself help, very courageous especially in those days!
My very favorite Paul Lynde line from Hollywood squares was when he was asked "Paul, who stays pregnant longer, your wife, or your elephant?" and Lynde replies in perfect comedy timing "who told you about my elephant?" I still LMAO every time I see it.

As do most of us Baby Boomer era folks, I just loved Paul Lynde. From his hilarious appearances on Bewitched to movies, TV specials, and of course, The Hollywood Squares, watching this unique funny man was always a great treat. RIP Paul, you are truly missed. 💖
I was a boy in the 80s who spent a lot of time with my grandparents... And im so glad I did. I grew up on the classics from Lucy to Bonanza. Paul was a delight on bewitched and Papa liked Hollywood Squares.... Great times!!!!

It's such a tragedy that such a Brilliant star as Paul, who had such great comedic timing couldn't live his life as the true man that he was. But those WERE the times, and he deserved better!! RIP Paul.
I loved him on on Hollywood squares and the funny answers. He would give my mom and dad watched it every day and we have a box of Kleenex with us and laughed so hard we have to use the Kleenex to wipe the tears away. I miss him a lot and I miss Hollywood squares also.
Paul Lynde was once asked on the Hollywood Squares "What are two things you should never do in bed?" Without hesitation, he shot back with "Point and laugh." That's why we're still talking about him, and I hope we always will be.
I love this channel, it brings me back to the good old days. I "met" Paul Lynde, in 1973 or 1974, I think, can't remember exactly. I was in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in the Condado area, he was unfortunately very drunk and lost, he was too heavy for one person to carry people kept saying "call the police" but we new what would happen to him if we did, so it took a couple of hours just to find out where he was staying. It took three people to help him get to his hotel. To this day I'm convinced that he never knew how he got to the hotel. I'm sure the hotel staff were very discreet about the whole situation. Plus I don't think they knew who he was. There was no cable tv at that time in the Island. He was a great actor who had a tough life.
@@williamsstephens thanks! There were three of us and unfortunately I'm the last survivor, my friends have passed since then three years apart. I know the hotel staff was discreet because I never read anything about it anywhere.
Honestly that's the most selfless celebrity rescue story I ever heard, next to actually saving someone's life. Make enough people laugh and you always have friends. .
My favorite joke from Paul Lynde was on Bewitched when he said “My feet are killing me” and he had two guns on his feet shooting him I still find that hilarious 🤣🤣🤣

While looking at videos of him on Hollywood Squares, I was overwhelmed. I seriously could have found 100 worthwhile ones to use. In one he is asked.. If a man falls off a ship, they yell, Man Overboard. What do you yell if a woman falls overboard? He said.... Full Steam Ahead! OMG! I never expected that! 🤣

I love the slant you give to all of your tributes and this one to Paul was especially good. So much information I never knew. Paul was once the week's guest host on the Mike Douglas show and I remember him telling Mike he had dreamed of being a Shakespearean actor but every time he read lines, the audience would laugh. Mike told him to fulfill his dream right then and promised the audience wouldn't laugh. Of course he hadn't recited ten words from Macbeth before everyone was roaring. He just turned to Mike and said, "See what I mean?"
@@CoolClassics he was riotlessly funny, He probably had Robin Williams syndrome, I guess we all do when we rise to aspire to be a great comedian and showman but will never know, he was taken too soon. Like Billy Joel sing only the Good die Young. I think he did impressions and was in a lot of Hanna-Barbera cartoons as voices and personalities he was such a talented fellow.

@@juliadams42 Ms Ghostley, like Paul Lynde, started on Bewitched as a different character...a mortal working as a housekeeper, with a college-aged son she was putting through medical school, IIRC. Coincidentally (?) she was incredibly inept as a cook and cleaner but Samantha felt sorry for her and covered her mistakes and accidents. Ms Ghostley was brought back but I don't remember her as being related to any member of Samantha's family.
Great presentation, Paul was an absolute natural comedian and had the fastest wit on any subject matter as I had ever seen in my 59 years. Hollywood Squares was an amazing show. Wish the reruns were broadcast instead if the junk we have now.

I always loved Paul Lynde, whether it was Bewitched, Hollywood Squares or the movies. His role in Bye, Bye Birdie. My favorite quote from Hollywood Squares was Peter Marshall asked “When is the best time to pluck your eyebrows” he replied very confused “August?”
I saw Paul on most of those shows, movies and game shows and I always thought that he did a stellar job. I couldn't care less what his sexual orientation was.....he was Paul...a talented and caring person with a love of booze. Geniuses are rarely understood. Paul was a comedic genius. RIP Paul.
I was a very young kid when I saw "Bye-Bye Birdie," and I've never forgotten that, "Not until you're 21 it's not," line, which made me laugh out loud at the time. Best scene, and best number ("What's the Matter With Kids Today?") in the film if you ask me. Thanks for posting this, and well done.
Thanx for doing this! Paul was always one of the funniest people of my childhood in the 60's and 70's, and there were a lot of funny people around then.
I really appreciate how well this was done, respecting the man and his life, and pointing out how the media tries to sensationalize everything. Also, how a person's sexuality did not define them, their actions, or their history as they were known to viewers. After all, the vast majority of us didn't really know him personally, so I am grateful that his legacy was reviewed in the way that we all knew him, and not focusing on things that only a few people knew about. It would have been very tempting to at once claim that the media exaggerated this or that, and then for the sake of engaging content do exactly that in this kind of a review. I might just be only one person, but I appreciate the professionalism that went into making this video, and splicing everything together takes a very long time. Thanks for the effort!

I found this video very enlightening. I was born in the 70’s, but had a very old soul. My parents used to watch Bewitched. That was back in the days when there was only one television in most peoples houses. So, I grew up watching what they watched. I am thankful for this. I was exposed to a lot of wonderful actors, actresses, and GREAT television shows. I, like you (the creator of this page) thought Paul Linde was exasperatingly funny to me…even though I was a child. I may not have gotten every joke (due to my age) but the ones I did get resulted in hearty guffaws for sure. His razor sharp wit was timeless and is still unmatched in my opinion. I was born in the 1950's. Not only did we only have one television, the tuner was moot. We only had one channel too. I think the TV's shows were better even with only one choice as ALL programing was top notch.

Paul didn't need to use coarse language because he was a Master with the innuendos. The whole family could watch his show and he was funny for the kids but hilarious for the adults because the kids didn't understand.

There's not much more I could ask for in a nice and tight career retrospective. I needed this! I wish my dad had been alive to watch this. He was a fan, and Ive been growing in my fandom. You've done the work (that would've taken me 8+ hours of rabbit hole googling with mediocre results) to bring all this information together in a respectful yet honest bio. Now I feel knowledgable enough to talk about this icon and comedic legend... and to share it with others. My next goal is to work on my quick & naughty Lynde retorts. He's inspiring. The most accurate and true story of Paul Lynde,I believe that heart valve problems run genetically in families and there was no controversy over the man's death...just a great and over the top comedien and great showman with a great career in comedy...the greatness speaks for itself about this man.

You do an excellent job, providing in-depth information (that must take some time gathering) that most of us would never ever know about. Paul Lynde was a gem, loved his sense of humor and timing and quick wit. Bewitched, the Munsters and Squares being my favorite. I’m mean, I know what the line or “punch line” is going to be, and I still burst out laughing. In part, because of the way he says it. My mistake was watching this while eating my breakfast. Yeah you couldn't say enough about Paul in and yeah it wasn't long either because there is a bunch to talk about Paul in he was a real comedic entertainer that was a shock about him being gay but hey, it doesn't make him less funny, what he did in his private life that's his business I'm an aquarius anyway, but at least a riotous comedian is number one always.

This was a great video about the life of Paul Lynde. I remembered watching on all the shows on TV as a child and then as a teenager. When he was on the game show, Hollywood Squares, I can remember my mom and I laughing at all his hilarious one liners. Listening to him again brought back great memories of me and my mom laughing till we cried some days. His humor bordered on the risqué which made them so funny. Thank for all the good memories of that earlier, more innocent time. Good job!

I'd seen Mr Lynde in many of his roles, but really only remembered him in two: as Uncle Arthur and as the Center Square. Thank you for refreshing my memory. Okay, first of all, I'm still reeling from seeing Paul so heavy - that was news to me! Thanks so much for putting this together and posting it for the world to see. I remember him primarily from "Hollywood Squares", with Uncle Arthur as a close second. I did have a crush on him (I was born in 1964), and just thought he was being snarky; what did I know about gay and/or sissy stereotypes? And btw, Claude Akins was great in "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street", S1E22 of "The Twilight Zone". (hey, there's an idea for another post...Mr. Akins!)

I was in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in the Condado area, he was unfortunately very drunk and lost, he was too heavy for one person to carry people kept saying "call the police" but we new what would happen to him if we did, so it took a couple of hours just to find out where he was staying. It took three people to help him get to his hotel. To this day I'm convinced that he never knew how he got to the hotel. I'm sure the hotel staff were very discreet about the whole situation. Plus I don't think they knew who he was. There was no cable tv at that time in the Island. He was a great actor who had a tough life.

There were three of us and unfortunately I'm the last survivor, my friends have passed since then three years apart. I know the hotel staff was discreet because I never read anything about it anywhere.

Honestly that's the most selfless celebrity rescue story I ever heard, next to actually saving someone's life.

I love the slant you give to all of your tributes and this one to Paul was especially good. So much information I never knew. Paul was once the week's guest host on the Mike Douglas show and I remember him telling Mike he had dreamed of being a Shakespearean actor but every time he read lines, the audience would laugh. Mike told him to fulfill his dream right then and promised the audience wouldn't laugh. Of course he hadn't recited ten words from Macbeth before everyone was roaring. He just turned to Mike and said, "See what I mean?"

I think he did impressions and was in a lot of Hanna-Barbera cartoons as voices and personalities he was such a talented fellow.
These people do make good bio's and just long enough to hold your attention.

i was a kid in the 70s and loved paul lynde on hollywood squares. even if you didn't get the jokes, it was his personality and delivery that made everything funny.
He was so funny. I just saw him playing the doctor on The Munsters and I was cracking up laughing so hard. He was so funny on Bewitched and The Hollywood Squares. Wonderful comedian. ❤❤❤👍🌸🌹.

Ms Ghostley, like Paul Lynde, started on Bewitched as a different character...a mortal working as a housekeeper, with a college-aged son she was putting through medical school, IIRC. Coincidentally (?) she was incredibly inept as a cook and cleaner but Samantha felt sorry for her and covered her mistakes and accidents.
Ms Ghostley was brought back but I don't remember her as being related to any member of Samantha's family.

Great presentation, Paul was an absolute natural comedian and had the fastest wit on any subject matter as I had ever seen in my 59 years. Hollywood Squares was an amazing show. Wish the reruns were broadcast instead if the junk we have now.
Whay wit? Every line was written for him by the staff writers. Thats OK, his timing was great, but he actually feared doing anything unscripted.

I always loved Paul Lynde, whether it was Bewitched, Hollywood Squares or the movies. His role in Bye, Bye Birdie. My favorite quote from Hollywood Squares was Peter Marshall asked “When is the best time to pluck your eyebrows” he replied very confused “August?”

I was a very young kid when I saw "Bye-Bye Birdie," and I've never forgotten that, "Not until you're 21 it's not," line, which made me laugh out loud at the time. Best scene, and best number ("What's the Matter With Kids Today?") in the film if you ask me. Thanks for posting this, and well done.

Who doesn't have many fond memories of Paul Lynde! I am also with you on your recollection as a child, I too thought he was hilarious!
I really appreciate how well this was done, respecting the man and his life, and pointing out how the media tries to sensationalize everything. Also, how a person's sexuality did not define them, their actions, or their history as they were known to viewers. After all, the vast majority of us didn't really know him personally, so I am grateful that his legacy was reviewed in the way that we all knew him, and not focusing on things that only a few people knew about.
It would have been very tempting to at once claim that the media exaggerated this or that, and then for the sake of engaging content do exactly that in this kind of a review.
I might just be only one person, but I appreciate the professionalism that went into making this video, and splicing everything together takes a very long time. Thanks for the effort!

I was born in the 70’s, but had a very old soul. My parents used to watch Bewitched. That was back in the days when there was only one television in most peoples houses. So, I grew up watching what they watched. I am thankful for this. I was exposed to a lot of wonderful actors, actresses, and GREAT television shows. I, like you (the creator of this page) thought Paul Linde was exasperatingly funny to me…even though I was a child. I may not have gotten every joke (due to my age) but the ones I did get resulted in hearty guffaws for sure. His razor sharp wit was timeless and is still unmatched in my opinion. I thank him for having enough guts to go after his dreams. It did me a world of good…even to this day.

I was born in the 1950's. Not only did we only have one television, the tuner was moot. We only had one channel too. I think the TV's shows were better even with only one choice as ALL programing was top notch.

There's not much more I could ask for in a nice and tight career retrospective. I needed this! I wish my dad had been alive to watch this. He was a fan, and Ive been growing in my fandom. You've done the work (that would've taken me 8+ hours of rabbit hole googling with mediocre results) to bring all this information together in a respectful yet honest bio. Now I feel knowledgable enough to talk about this icon and comedic legend... and to share it with others. My next goal is to work on my quick & naughty Lynde retorts. He's inspiring. The most accurate and true story of Paul Lynde,I believe that heart valve problems run genetically in families and there was no controversy over the man's death...just a great and over the top comedien and great showman with a great career in comedy...the greatness speaks for itself about this man.

No, please don’t stop! Your videos are fantastic. Giving all of us the backstory on all of these wonderful people whom we have grown up watching. You do an excellent job, providing in-depth information (that must take some time gathering) that most of us would never ever know about. Paul Lynde was a gem, loved his sense of humor and timing and quick wit. Bewitched, the Munsters and Squares being my favorite. I’m mean, I know what the line or “punch line” is going to be, and I still burst out laughing. In part, because of the way he says it. My mistake was watching this while eating my breakfast. After that question about Liz Taylor and he answers “her chin”, I am now cleaning up my iPad of the cereal I was eating. No kidding, lol. Keep up the good work you do. For you, and for us!

Yeah you couldn't say enough about Paul in and yeah it wasn't long either because there is a bunch to talk about Paul in he was a real comedic entertainer that was a shock about him being gay but hey, it doesn't make him less funny, what he did in his private life that's his business I'm an aquarius anyway, but at least a riotous comedian is number one always.

This was a great video about the life of Paul Lynde. I remembered watching on all the shows on TV as a child and then as a teenager. When he was on the game show, Hollywood Squares, I can remember my mom and I laughing at all his hilarious one liners. Listening to him again brought back great memories of me and my mom laughing till we cried some days. His humor bordered on the risqué which made them so funny. Thank for all the good memories of that earlier, more innocent time. Good job!

Okay, first of all, I'm still reeling from seeing Paul so heavy - that was news to me! Thanks so much for putting this together and posting it for the world to see. I remember him primarily from "Hollywood Squares", with Uncle Arthur as a close second. I did have a crush on him (I was born in 1964), and just thought he was being snarky; what did I know about gay and/or sissy stereotypes? And btw, Claude Akins was great in "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street", S1E22 of "The Twilight Zone". (hey, there's an idea for another post...Mr. Akins!)
