He reminds me of my dad who is in heaven. I really miss seeing my daddy in the kitchen. This channel brings me such joy. I pray deddy has a long life.
Same here Sis. My Bonus Dad is soo missed.
Same here.😫
Lmao
No such thing as heaven. It’s just an illusion for humans to feel better about death. He’s no longer here, that’s it. Cherish your memories with him and not a fairytale.
@@2jcward right, they’re in the spirit world.
I love plantain but I love even more the love between this father and daughter! ❤️ ❤️ The adoration is so beautiful. My friend share this channel with me because it made him think of my father and I. Blessings to you all.
May the Lord have mercy of the soul of your dad !! Will pray for him and us all !!
We Are BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK IN DEDDY’s KITCHENNN!!!!!
He is a great dad . My dad use to teach me how to cook. Such a special thing between father and daughter.
I like the soft, ripe plantain. It's super sweet. I fry it in coconut oil. It adds sweetness. Almost taste like candy. 😋😋😋
I’m definitely going to try coconut oil. Thank you for sharing that!
Coconut oil is the best way to go on about medium heat.
Currently 🙌🏾🙌🏾

I’m Latin American, from El Salvador and I LOVE plantain!! We eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner!! We cut it the long way too! That breakfast you just mentioned sounds just like Salvadoran breakfast!!
I'm Angolan and we like it too
I’m white British grew up on vad British food, went plant based recently I made salt fish and akee yesterday and today I bought some plantains and I’m going in for round 2… Jamaicans got some of the BEST food I’ve ever tried
My favorite dish is ackee, white American here 😆
Looks SO tasty!! Love the final presentation. I’m a 60 y/o Italian-American, and I’m making my first plantain tonight using this method. Wish me luck!! ☺️
Good luck!!! 🙌♥️
How did they turn out? I hope you enjoyed them.
Luck
How did your Plantains turn out?
@Beauty Folse' I cooked mine yesterday and they do burn easily..but I didn't destroy completely
Flipping all the way through is the key!! I’m so glad I watched this! No more burnt plantain for me!😅
Love the relationship with dad. I wish my Jamaican dad was like this. Makes the video 10X because we can feel the love. Great work guys !
Plátanos maduros 😋 as we call them in DR! 🇩🇴 Thats how I was taught to make them too! Thank you, love your videos 🙏🏼 blessed be!
I love this channel and the authentic vibes from the both of you guys. Growing up in a Jamaican family, everyone always kept the secrets under lock. Me and my husband are Jamaicans and I plan to learn all I can to share the goodness with Our children wnd pass the torch to them to continue the love, and beauty of cooking.
My mom is American and my father's side is Jamaican. I grew up only getting Jamaican eats during the holidays, where as my mom would cook American. Now that I have my own family. This is a huge STAPLE of what I vow to include in our home. It's our culture. It's our people and it's US 🙏🏽🤍🇯🇲
I love how happy the father is. He never stopped smiling 😁
I swear I've already stolen him as my dad. Love this channel, the food, their relationship everythingggg❣️💕
Right? This is my dad now too. We're sharing! Plus my jamaican grandfather is old and grumpy, he doesn't cook at allllllll anymore. So all these videos are so warming to my heart. I love it here
Deddy is so cool. My daughter is Colombian-American we know those as PLAT’ a no. They go so well with food or as a snack.
I realise that most people will think that frying plantain doesn’t really warrant an instructional video, but my in-laws live in Jamaica and every time I have fried plantain, everyone has their own ways of preparing it.
I am English and am very grateful that you have taken the time to demonstrate how you cook this delicious snack.
Watching your video, I see that the oil must not be too hot, but there must be enough of it in the pan. Also, as you say, you should turn the plantain so that each side is fried twice.
Your dad is a big cooker and it makes me remember my dad always cooking up in the kitchen!! This is definitely your dad’s love language!! Thanks for making this recipe because it is delicious but easy to ruin. Thanks so much, Arlene (Miami)
Thank you both for blessing us with love and such great food tutorials! God bless! ❤
My taxi cab driver in London told me he fried his with butter if I remember correctly. The way he described it I was ready to eat some immediately. I should've written down, but I'm glad I found this channel. I bought some yesterday and will fry some tonight.
Thank you so much my plantains finally ripened up and i realized i didn’t know how to make them. I ate GOOD tonight thanks to y’all.
OMG..thank you! I followed your instructions to the letter today and fried up the most beautiful and delicious plantain! I have never made it before and was actually afraid to eat it because I hate banana. But believe it or not I ate them salted with hot sauce sprinkled on it and loved it! Thank you for sharing your love and gift of cooking!
Thanks daddy! I appreciate you! My daddy passed when I was 12. I’m 47 now I miss my daddy so much and I wish I could talk to him as a woman. I know he’s still with me. Thanks for sharing g your daddy with us.
I have been watching other people do this for quite sometime but I never tried it until I saw Deddy do it because, I TRUST HIM Seen .... real massive talk.
I love fried plantains! Especially with my eggs for breakfast.
I can’t wait to try with my ex I love the Jamaican culture
I love a man that can cook...a real man...this is a very cute interaction between a father and a daughter ....the food look scrumptious!
I asked my boyfriend to buy me a piece of fruit at the supermarket, like an apple or banana. He was sure he bought me a banana, the weirdo. Thanks to your video I don't have to throw out the plantain and can learn a new recipe!
Update: addicted to plantains now, hahahaha! They're so gooood
@@EchoSappho that is how to turn a bad thing good. Be sweet when he gets the wrong stuff. Use whatever he brings. Then just carefully mention the right thing. Then he will have confidence to keep shopping for you. 💞
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👍
Properly ripened plantains are perfectly edible raw, they're just a bit starchier and less sweet than table bananas. But frying them enhances their sweetness, especially if you let them carmalize a bit.
They can also be boiled or added to soups

Years ago, I had a bf who, if I asked him to do something like that for me, he'd "accidentally" mess it up. It was his way of getting back at me for having asked him to do something for me.
Deddy brings so much joy to mi heart. I can't get enough of warching these videos. Sasha you are such an excellent commentator. I like my plaintains firm.
I just bought my first plantain.
I can't wait to try this method out.

This channel just popped up in my feed and I loved it. I will be checking out some more videos later. Thanks for the class on frying plantings. I reviewed some of your other videos and love the topic. Take care.
Thanks to my Hispanic and Inlander friends around the world, I am introduced to plantains. I live in the south of the US…Tennessee, and grew up never knowing what a plantain is. I do enjoy eating plantains, now….thank you! 😀❤️
Sweet Plantains are the best 🇯🇲❤️

Thank you for bringing me back to the realization of the bursting flavor of this fruit! 😍

I cut diagonal so its long slices but still bite-sized.

_Two years ago, I came for the Recipes 🍗 🍚 🍲 and stayed for the accent😊 Growing up in the 60s, our Assistant Pastor, his Wife and their four older children moved here from Kingston. I didn't know as a child that I was listening and tuning my ears to deep, thick, exquisite Jamaican accents. Listening to this Channel brings it all back❣️I haven't viewed the Channel in a while, but I was given a few Plantains today and I knew if anyone had a simple "How to" video for a Plantain recipe, "Deddy" did👨🏾🍳 Thanks so much_
Hello Deddy and family. Always a pleasure watching your videos as☺ usual and you're always cooking with so much LUV. Blessings always☺❤
Love this he reminds me of my dad who had passed i love the bond you guys share. My dad is also Jamaican and my mom is from Trinidad so i know how to eat good food. Blessings 💕💕💕
Thank you for making and posting this video! Over 10 years later and I’m so glad I came across this. Plantains are a new food so me that I’ve been curious about for awhile. ❤
I like the soft "wet" kind. Over ripe. Not the firmer ones. Mmmmmmmm! Looks delish! Thank you Deddy 😘

This is the exact plantains I love. Thank you for this video I'll be making some this week just like deddy makes it
I’ve never made it before. Thanks for the visual because I needed the guidance. Double flipped and aimed for the same color. Slightly salted it afterwards with a light hand. Firm plantain like in the video. Excellent. So easy.
LUV YOU TWO TOGETHER!! Missed ya Sasha, welcome back! Can watch Deddy cook anytime. Wish these videos were around back in da day when I first moved out on my own. Keep them coming. Waiting for some desserts or Rum Punch recipes.

I love plantain cook Deddy’s way. I cracked up when Deddy said you could make a sandwich outta them. In the south we make off the script sandwiches also like a butter bean sandwich 😂❤️
Oh, Lordt!😂🤣
butter bean sandwich with butter toasted bread? You'll be in heaven!
Fried plantain in a (toasted) burger bun, a common Caribbean sandwich
Stayed at a hotel in El Salvador years ago and had this with breakfast. Absolutely blew my mind. Gotta do this. Blessings to you!

Bruh 22 seconds into the video and it hasn't even reached to point where I came for but I already subscribed, turn on the bell and like the video just because of that intro.. the power you have over me goodness (I'm from Guyana
Those look great! Frying mine right now. I like them dark/ripe, fried and sweet!!
Thanks. I love the guidance and cool flow. I’m making them right now……..
BANG! It works and the multi flip is gold. Thanks again
I did some black and some mixed color plantains. The dark was more orange out of the skin and much sweeter.
One of my coworkers gave me some plantains today and I got on RUclips to find a video on how to make them. I came across your video, it came out delicious. Thank you! I subscribed to your channel. I love the interaction between the daughter and dad. I will go check out your other delicious videos. ❤
Seeing a nice cooking morning like this before going to the kitchen myself is so lovely. Much love to this lovely channel
I saw a recipe for frying bananas very similar to frying plantins in butter. I first used plantins in the early 70s when I cooked a Puerto Rican dish called pasteles (very hard dish to make) during that time they now have grinders to grind the platains.I made this dish for my fiance from Santuce PR. I'm African American and German 🇩🇪 it was delicious and I realized PR cooking and other Caribbean dishes is like cooking soul food but then I realized many food stables and recipes came from the continent of Africa during the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade😔
I love Deddy! Just Love him. You too daughter!
I like that your aso teaching the basics. People that may not know will find it useful. I thought you had done Mac and cheese already but you haven’t!! I can’t wait for that one.
I love the dark super sweet crispy on the outside and soft and sweet on the inside plantain chips, yummy 🤤.
Happy for this video ! I’ve wanted to make my own at home and finally did thanks to you !

I love him, he's got a great personality
Fried sweet Plantain with refried beans and sour cream. So many different flavors and sensations all at once. First tried it at an El Salvadorian restaurant, loved it.
Grew up eating plantain in Guatemala. Love it still! Thanks for the memories
These will be a great addition to my vegan diet!! THANK YOU ♥️
Speaking of which I seen Jamaican food truck & owner while getting gas and we waved Hello to each other so I went over to ask if he Might have anything vegan and he chuckled but we still made small talk bc he was so nice…. Even nicer… He said Hold On A Minute and came back with rice & beans, some tasty veggies I’ve never had & plantains 🤤
I was so appreciative and it was so freakin DELISH!! And so CONSIDERATE!!
It’s what brought me here to learn… I really appreciate you sharing your skills and culture… THANK YOU 🙏♥️
Absolutely delicious. Takes two ingredients to make such a tasty and hearty side. This is what I call love on a plate 😊
Watching alllllllllll the way from Las Vegas!! We are back...back.....back...back..baaaack n deddy's kitchiiiin!! Love it!!
Plantains are literally a staple in the world. I had it for the first time at a Cuban restaurant. Best decision ever.🥰
My favorite comfort food...As we say in my house....“Fry Plantin”!!
I can do both Sweet and Salty..good stuff!
Plannntin is the way to my heart!
Girl I used to think the same as you...I thought you had to fully cook the one side before the flip.I honestly love love love love love the way you help us novice cooks. To some the question may seem dumb but worrrrrrrrrrrrrddddd it’s helping me tremendously.Stay safe and thank you Deddy ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What kind of oil did you use?
Just brought home my first plantain. hahaha....going to let it ripen a bit in a paper sack, then follow Daddy's recipe!
Plantain all Caribbean
💖 it anything from the roots of Africa
Rather its green or ripe
It's a combination to the dish.
Daddy touches every aspect of his dishes
Down to the plantain
Keep it coming ✔💯
He cooks with love and it shows in the food.☺️🤤
Hey Daddy and daughter from Virginia, USA. I enjoyed learning about fried plantains Reminds me a little of fried sliced sweet potatoes. I have eaten those for breakfast. Thank you. Thank you and thanks.
Love ❤ the cutting board...Blessings to you all! 🙏
Your dad is so cute and pleasant. He looks so happy to be in the kitchen. Nice presentation too. We drizzle a little honey in ours, so good. ☺️👍😋
