I agree! I don't eat West Indian food for this reason. However, you can keep the chicken as a staple. Omit the plantain and rice, but keep the beans and have no more than a 1/3 cup on a cheat day. Make you're own bbq and ketchup sause or use the brands that don't have sugar and then you control that part yourself. ...but....this classic can still be enjoyed(as is on a cheat day) Fry in coconut oil. Eat on Sunday early evening or even for a late lunch. Then water only or dry fast on Monday and go OMAD on Tuesday. This should use up all that liver glycogen you just stored on Sunday.

Me neither lol 😂 💯
Dis nah weight losing food a pure weight gain fix up mek ya strong food LMAO 🤣
You can eat any food you wish in moderation! Portion control and eat too live not live to eat!
Dionnd P that is so true!
Can you plz put the ingredients under descriptions also the receipt for the green seasoning..thank you
Nikki McClam She has a video of her making it!
Nikki McClam yeah that would be great if she add those ingredients instead of having to look for it
I used to date a guy who's parents were from Jamaica and his Mom was THE best cook , she also made rice, peas(kidney beans) and chicken , my goodness this takes me back, it was SO delicious I may have to make this for myself now , I never knew how she made the rice and peas so tasty , now I do, thank you so much.
I immediately liked the video when she said how she washed her chicken then I had to subscribe after saying she washed her rice 😍
Since the first time I made this recipe it was - and still is- a hit. My family loves it. We have tried it before even from good restaurants, but nothing beats this one. Thank you so much for sharing it.

First time watching your channel & I subscribe because I realize that you are a CLEAN cook 👍. I don’t eat meat but love how you prepare your food. Blessings on your journey 🙏
Your instruction is detailed clear and easy to follow, from just watching the video I am confident I can do this. You not only a good cook you are a good instructor. Good Job.
Absolutely Lovely and Delicious. I love how you seasoned and cleaned everything. Good job.
You couldn't tell me this wasn't haitian rice and beans... Looks soo good!
My mom is St. Lucian. She always liked your channel. Now I’m following some of your recipes in college because there are no Caribbean restaurants near me. Thank you!
That's great!
Hi Terri-Ann. For the plantain, try slicing it diagonally so you don't have to fry it twice, that way it stays flat. This is how we slice it here in Nigeria. PS: Looking to learn about Jamaican food and your content has been the best I've watched so far. Well done!
Hi love I sliced it that way because of a certain look i was going for. As for Foos, I’m St.Lucian and I cook Caribbean food - not Jamaican food :)...

I can't wait to try this. Every thing looks so delicious .
I made the rice and peas (first time making it) and it turned out great! My husband is Jamaican and he said it was amazing and he was shocked that it turned out so good for my first time. The only thing I didn’t add is the green sauce because I didn’t have the ingredients to make it but without it, it still tasted like traditional rice and peas! Thanks so much for the recipe!
I totally agree walkerswood is the best jerk seasoning it has the most authentic flavor that i remember from growing up in Jamaica. I just discovered your channel for the first time and I love it. My hubby and I are foodies as well so we are happy to see the rest of your content.
