    Love it. My family is from the Bahamas and we eat these all the time. Goes great with peas and rice, potato salad, Bahamian mac and cheese and some stew fish. Yes lawd!!!! Wonderful.

      @@micahaelasamuels4272 - every countries culture & cooking & sayings are different... so please don't be too quick to correct her "peas & rice"!! A St Lucian friend of mine does her "rice & peas" completely different from wot I'm used to... they cook da peas like as stew & serve it up on da side of/over plain rice with salad etc (banana/yam/plantain/dumplings)... very nice but I prefer Jamaica "rice & peas"!!

    I make them for my hubby all the time. He loves them sweet like how u made them. He loves them as so do i. I’m hispanic and his african Américan and i never had them. Until i met my husband and i gotta tell you ms gina. I’m hooked!! Lol. Tyfs. Live ya girl. God bless !! ❤️

    Thanks for sharing. I love fried plantains but don't have access to them like I use to before moving back to my hometown. Tried it myself and failed miserably. Lol I think I didn't choose one ripe enough and didn't cook it long enough. Can't wait to try again.

    The green plantain is the one you fry, squash and refry. They are called Tostones.

    MS Gina I have never heard of these but I most definitely am gonna find them and make me some. I'm like you I don't care for bananas either they give me heart burn. But these I want to try.     I've never had plaintains before, but I've always wanted to try them; not a huge banana fan, but I do like them sometimes and love potatoes all of the time, so I would most likely enjoy the plaintains, as well: thanks a mil to your video, I may have to try them very soon; they look absolutely amazing!

    Gina I have seen them mashed as you mentioned. And you can boil the green ones and use as provisions. I made some the other day. Delicious. I also
    froze two plantains to use at a later date. Good video.

    I was introduced to them by an African lady that braids my hair. She put salt on hers. They were delicious. I buy, cook and put salt on them.

    Thank you I figured out that what I did wrong was last time I got them too green. It was very hard to take them apart and it was like pears. So I tried them again I left them in a bag and thank you for the plastic tip but I love these things, and I look forward to perfecting this. Thank you

    That is a stable in West Africa especially Nigeria. It is almost impossible for them not have it in their homes and they eat it with everything and done in more ways immaginable. And their parties are incomplete without plantain!

    Gina Young I made the chicken enchiladas today and remember I told you I had a plantain waiting and it was ready 😊 I forgot about it but honey the enchiladas and Mexican rice and beans were the bomb I didn't make them refried though 😁 not a fan all the time but I will eat them 😚 ty dear 😚

    I Enjoy your cooking site. Just a hint that I’ve seen before: They partially fry the plantain until almost done, take it out, flatten with a fork on a paper towel, then put them back into the oil to continue to finish cooking. It’s like a homemade plantain chip, but still soft inside.🙂

      The plantains must not be ripe like the ones you fry. They are called fried green plaintains or tostones.

    I have loved plantain for years...............I prefer the green , seasoned with garlic salt and pepper...........mashed flat . you can buy mashers , from the hispanic stores....I never eat them , with another starch though......thank you , for the share..........

    Hi Gina, love your vids, just one correction though, the ripe ones, which you are making now do not get smashed and refried. It's when the skin or peel is still green and they're a little tougher.

    Gina, when you deep fry them you normally use the green plantains & they are called patacones!

    Speaking of Indiana, IDK if we can buy plantains here? Maybe sometimes. My family will think I've gone silly frying up bananas, but they'll just have to try them!     Nice that you love our caribbean flavours. 2 things tho respectfully: its pronounced plantin not planteen. Also, u needed to slice them thinner but i understand that they can be slippery so ur AFRIaid to cut ur hands
