May she rest in Paradise!!!! She was a beautiful woman. We had Sunday dinner at her house. She would feed us college students after church and yes fried cabbage, field peas, collard greens, yams, fried chicken, pound cake made from scratch, etc. The table would full of her Delicious Soul Food Dishes!!!! My husband taught me how to make hot water corn bread the way his Mom made it. I put garlic powder in mine and no sugar. He also likes his well done, and very crunchy. I'm going to try your recipe next time.

I love fried cornbread! We always called it "hoe cakes"! Gina, I made this one time and added diced onions and shredded cheddar cheese and it tasted like hush puppies!
That's what my Grandmom made when I saw the ingredients...she called it Pan bread , which I learned later in life it was the same as a "Hoe Cake" aka Hot Water Corn Bread. Love it!!

Gotta try these, yesterday I watched you make fried cabbage with sausage, and I realized I had all the ingredients, so I made it. It was delicious, and with the leftover cabbage, I stuffed some green peppers, topped them with cheese and served it to my grandson. He loved it, yesterday and today!

OMG, just what I needed to go with my chicken noodle soup... sooooooo delicious but I used buttermilk corn meal and I remember my mom cooking her hot water cornbread with lard. We've tried Cinnamon Frosted flakes and they were really good. They have so many cereals no a days. Cheerios makes a frosted Cheerios is rather tasty. Post has a Nilla cereal...I bet if you throw some bananas in there it may mimic banana pudding cereal (Ms. Gina doesn't like bananas tho) but there are so many out these days.

I used green onions in my hotvwater cornbread!..and sometimes I used green onions and jalapeño pepper..

@@InTheKitchenWithGinaYoung I forgot to add that I made Brats your way and I ate all 5 of mine. 2 for dinner, 1 the next morning with scrambled eggs, 1 at lunchtime and 1 for dinner. Par boil then fry.........then with the sauteed peppers and onions OOOOWEEE!!

We've tried Cinnamon Frosted flakes and they were really good. They have so many cereals no a days. Cheerios makes a frosted Cheerios is rather tasty. Post has a Nilla cereal...I bet if you throw some bananas in there it may mimic banana pudding cereal (Ms. Gina doesn't like bananas tho) but there are so many out these days.
