Thank you for taking the time to share this wonderful recipe we have a place here in Milwaukee called the upper yard and if you don’t get there before 2 o’clock you would not get to be fed. I don’t get off work until three so I’m gonna try my hand at this recipe so I can always have them on hand for me and me alone. No more spending five dollars for a pie.
You used 2 scotch bonnets and there was no detectable spice?! I can't see how that is possible unless you're immune to capsaicin. Scotch bonnets are really hot compared to the average chilli pepper. I put half a small one in a rice dish for 2 people, and it's hot enough to make my scalp sweat.

I tired this recipe using grounded turkey. I try to stay away from red meat. It was absolutely delicious I can’t express enough how much I enjoy Deddy’s Kitchen. Watching and cooking with him has taken my food to a whole new level. It’s all about the seasonings and washing of the meat. All the best to Deddy and the family. Keep up the good work.
Now patties are being made with whatever you want. I've had lentil, pumpkin, jerk plantain, call Alon, Ackee, salmon and more. I'd like to try a green jack fruit.
I love the way Deddy always acknowledge and gives thanks to God for all he has and the way he truly loves his family. His sense of humor is absolutely contagious 😂😂 and the way he cookes is genus and very clean! Now that's what I'm talking about, you go Deddy❤😊.
u have the background music set at the perfect volume -- it doesn't overtake or drown out ur conversation -- and the tune, itself, was a nice choice; maintains the mood without being intrusive or annoying. Good job on that! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

My wife is jamaican and she's gonna try this tomorrow ... I love the energy of your family, it kinda reminds me of my family. We are made up of an extra spicy Caribbean blend of Dominican and Jamaican love!!! I look forward to more of your videos!!!

This is exciting! I found your channel by accident. My girlfriend loves Jamaican cooking. I’m planning to surprise her by cooking for her. I’m going to have fun watching this channel and learning how to cook these dishes.
@@edwinmendezforlife my sweetheart and I have been separated since the US/Canadian border slammed shut due to covid. I’m in the States. She’s in the Provinces. I have time to practice these recipes before I get to see her much less cook for her. We’re planning on getting together this coming spring.
I've been using this recipe from Deddy for about 18mths. It is the best patty recipe period. The only problem is now I gotta make it constantly for my kids, it does take some time but you will not regret the end result. I take two days to make it one day dough, next filling and assembly. Best patty recipe hands down!
I grew up in Toronto and this gives me such nostalgia. We love our Jamaican food, Jamaican patties everywhere, even in the corner stores, Kensington Market etc. The little bakery that used to be at Bathurst station before going to school in the morning, get some Jerk roll up, or coco bread. Man I'm hungry now 😋Love the video!!!
I usually hate long cookin videos but It didnt feel like almost an hour with the commentary and chemistry you guys have felt like I was makin it wit yall even doe I just been sittin here lmao
Same here! I watched a couple of their videos then attempted their Jamaican style liver and lemme tell you! Delicious! Their videos make us feel like we're right there in the kitchen with them. Amazing!
Recipe: Flour 1 pound Butter 1 cup Tumeric 1 tbsp Curry powder 1 tbsp Salt 1 tsp Baking powder 1 tbsp Butter milk or milk about 3 cups (add as needed, a little at a time) Let rest in fridge for 30 minutes covered. The amount of time & dedication that Deddy took to make this is Impeccable. I Love it! My tummy is ready for all of this goodness. Thank you for sharing! 🤗🔥🔥🔥
I was wondering why you didn't add beef suet(beef fat) to the recipe, but when I saw you add the shortening to the dough, I had to smile because now I know these will taste amazing. Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe! Subscribed!
What a remarkable man... this whole video is reminding me of my own Pop, who went Home in 2017. Seriously, right down to how the kitchen is set up!! And the LOVE that man radiates can be felt through these airwaves, gang. He glows. He actually glows. Came for the recipe, staying for all this beautiful family energy!! 💜
The reason why we ask for the homemade 🇯🇲Jamaican🇯🇲 Patty recipe is because the stores down here always run out of the distributed kind and we can't find anymore street vendors to make them from scratch like Deddy. Forward Jamaica!
I spend the same time making homemade Ja. Patties while this video a go on. Mine turn out good too. My husband eat one he. Tell me they are spicy like we like ting.
@@islandantoinette We all da cultia now, but erry one don't have da sem skill. I am subscribed to Deddy's channel bcz I stumbled upon it one day and I was thankful that he, his daughter & the rest of the family were kind enough to give us the time of day. I enjoy his channel, I love the recipes that I see and have never made bcz my paternal granny never taught me culture recipes... I learned from neighbors & now I am getting good with Deddy's Kitchen and my girl Toni Daley and her vlogs (shout-outs to my #supportasista in Toronto). Erryting ok and much love to you.
This is awesome! Love to see my people in this light cause it’s not always we are seen in a healthy family setting. I wish your channel all the success and yes I’d love to see you all sitting at the table and enjoying a meal prepared by “Daddy”. That man looks like he could cook. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
OMG you guys!!! I’ve spent the afternoon in my kitchen with Deddy watching this video! My husband is Jamaican/Guyanese and I’ve made these for the second time today using this recipe! They smell DELICIOUS and taste heavenly!! Lord have merrrcyyyy ❤️❤️❤️ THANK YOUUUU
I just found this channel today while looking for a Jamaican goat curry recipe, and I already love watching y’all’s videos! Watching you and your siblings interact with your dad reminds me of how my siblings and I are with our dad!
Thank you for showing us how they are actually made. Totally can tell your love of the art and giving joy in culinary arts to others. My kind of family.
I used this recipe the other day and let me tell you they did not last long! Absolutely amazing and the dough is on point! My family has been texting me asking for me to make them again next week 😂
Thank you so much “deddy” for sharing your recipe! I made my very first patties today and followed your video every step of the way! By the way, how much butter did you grate on top?? I did a stick and then got tired! The Lord showed me much mercy, ‘cause they came out fantastic!!
Looks like about the size of one of those 1/2 cup squares to me... which is equivalent to a stick, so I'd say you guessed right...lol. How much hamburger did you use? I think it looks like maybe 2 lbs, but I'm not sure. A few people have asked and I've searched for an answer, but they don't seem to answer any posts.
Thank you for showing us how to make Jamaican Beef Patties. I've always wondered how to make it. Daddy’s Kitchen and his children are excellent down to earth people! Thank you, and stay blessed.
Just happened on this site, if you haven't done it already, I love the idea of having a channel where you eat after Daddy's meals are made BUT the twist has to be to have a guest join you so we can get an unbiased view of his dishes. I love what you all do!
"You such ah genius 😁" not me cheesing like he said it to me! Lol this felt like home and made me miss my dad! Yall got a subscriber in me. Big up unnu self 💜🇯🇲
He is a good teacher and his daughter a good narrator. I enjoy watching this good cooking & beautiful father daughter relationship. Just wonderful!!! Blessings
Many process mistakes doubling up on ingredients let it cool but put lid on surely not pour onto a cool tray and leave uncovered would work as would melting the butter and brushing it between folds for a more even distribution of flaking effect on pastry ?? etc .. nice people tho “The Patty people ... patty on guys !
I cannot tell you how much I LOVE watching Deddy's Kitchen....I watch it every day and I always end up with a grocery list of stuff to go buy so I can cook. Your dad is the very best...and love mom too. Trying the bread pudding this weekend. Love your family. #stayblessed
Honestly love this content. As a fellow Canadian/Jamaican I appreciate everything that's done, because not a lot of people know what goes on in the kitchen. I subscribed a couple days ago and have just been watching and watching all the different videos. I definitely will be and want to see continuous content from y'all. Love.
I'm liking the vibe as much as the food in that kitchen. Deddy is such a nice man. Out of all the cooking shows on the interweb. This one is the most warm and relatable I have seen so far.
I just love watching your daddy cook he reminds me of my father that has passed away.. But watching your father cook makes me think of all the good times we had in the kitchen... And how blessed I am to be able to share all the recipes and meals with my family thinking of the memories and conversation😂😂 an talks we had in the kitchen.. Go Deddy Go Deddy Go.! Thank you so much for the video. I have been so afraid to try to make Beef patties because I could never understand the complex dough. Thank you so much I can not wait to try it. You are so brilliant.
I love when I find authentic recipes on RUclips. I can’t wait to try this out. I’ve been craving beef patties but I don’t live near any good Jamaican spots so this video is a life saver
They sell Jamaican meat pies at the family dollar that are made by a Jamaican owned family, food Factory. All kinds of Caribbean specialties. I cannot remember name but I really like their food
Love this video & would love to see y'all eating the recipe's he makes You all are lovely people I can smell it over here. Love hearing your accent Ya Man.

You are a blessing to us, I've tried the Jamician beef patties here & after seeing them made I can't tell what I was trying to eat, so YES I would LOVE to see the meals you actually make for real, thank you
Wow, those beef patties look so flaky & tender. Just imagining the aroma of seasonings cooking. I enjoyed this video. Thank You for sharing your recipe.
I don't have anything else to say other than I bet it's a 100% better representation of what our patties are really like than some of those I see out there. Awesome job Deddy! ❤
I love the fact that Deddy cooks whatever his fans are asking him to make. It's a pleasure watching you Deddy. You remind me of my Dad. He was the first person I saw put canned whole kernel corn in his cornbread (so good). I can't make my cornbread without it now. Keep up the great work Deddy..."Lawd A Mercy"
This is the first time I came across this video. Around November of last year was my first attempt to make Jamaican beef patties and looked up a recipe to do so. Instead of making the individual pastries, I actually made a twelve-inch pie. The first time tasted too strong in curry but the second time seemed to have tasted just right.
I love watching Deddy cook but it would be nice if Deddy would put out a cookbook with all the seasoning you will need for each recipe so you don't make no mistake. I was born in Jamaica but grow up here in the states so I would appreciate it very much much love to Deddy and his family

Congratulations! I want to try preparing them as well.
Wow with turkey must have been so relaxing after lol.. triptophane?
Turkey bleed thats red meat
SOAK your turkey or chicken in salt water for about 3hrs then rinse. Removes all blood.
@@jackiebourg6869 no matter what dump way you come up with its still red meat
Now patties are being made with whatever you want. I've had lentil, pumpkin, jerk plantain, call Alon, Ackee, salmon and more. I'd like to try a green jack fruit.
I watch this channel for the beautiful relationship the father and daughter have. Nuff love ❤️
Don't worry about a thing

I love the way Deddy always acknowledge and gives thanks to God for all he has and the way he truly loves his family. His sense of humor is absolutely contagious 😂😂 and the way he cookes is genus and very clean! Now that's what I'm talking about, you go Deddy❤😊.
Hail satan
Watching your dad cook, I feel like I’m a guest in your kitchen. Very heart warming! Thanks!!
u have the background music set at the perfect volume -- it doesn't overtake or drown out ur conversation -- and the tune, itself, was a nice choice; maintains the mood without being intrusive or annoying. Good job on that! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Wow!! I didn’t notice the music lol!!
Its elevator music but i respect the artistic analysis lol
Wow, thanks for shedding light on that, I watched the entire video and didn't even notice it because it fit so well
You right, amen to the music

I've been using this recipe from Deddy for about 18mths. It is the best patty recipe period. The only problem is now I gotta make it constantly for my kids, it does take some time but you will not regret the end result. I take two days to make it one day dough, next filling and assembly. Best patty recipe hands down!
Deddy is adorable and likable. And easy to follow. The daughter is very directional.
God bless you and your family keep up the good work
Yes I would love it
I grew up in Toronto and this gives me such nostalgia. We love our Jamaican food, Jamaican patties everywhere, even in the corner stores, Kensington Market etc. The little bakery that used to be at Bathurst station before going to school in the morning, get some Jerk roll up, or coco bread. Man I'm hungry now 😋Love the video!!!
Same, Literally the only reason I miss Toronto is the easy access to quality Jamaican food
i’m born in toronto too! i’m from keele and finch and i love going to jane street for some patties
Torontonian here too. Beef patties sustained me growing up. Especially patties in a bun with cheese onions and bannana peppers.

Looks like about the size of one of those 1/2 cup squares to me... which is equivalent to a stick, so I'd say you guessed right...lol. How much hamburger did you use? Many process mistakes doubling up on ingredients let it cool but put lid on surely not pour onto a cool tray and leave uncovered would work as would melting the butter and brushing it between folds for a more even distribution of flaking effect on pastry ?? etc .. nice people tho “The Patty people ... patty on guys !
