- CHEAP VS EXPENSIVE : IRON REMOVERS (Eagle One vs CarPro)!! In this video, we compare two popular iron removers that are on opposite ends of the price spectrum. Iron removers can also be called fallout removers.
The Eagle One Black & Plasti-Coat Triple Cleaning Foam VS CarPro IronX. Eagle One’s iron remover is a general public product, coasts roughly $5 USD and is available in big box stores and auto parts stores. CarPro’s iron remover is a professional grade product, costs roughly $20 USD and is only available online through authorized dealers.

Washing alone can’t remove all of the embedded contaminants from your vehicle’s clear coat, or on your vehicle’s wheels. One of the products that should be used is a chemical cleaners known as an iron remover.
Simply spray the iron remover directly onto any exterior surface, wait a few minutes for it to change color as it dissolves ferrous particles, and rinse. This will leave your paint glossy, smooth, and bright. Iron removers help remove brake dust, rail dust, industrial fallout, etc. Iron removers make preparing your vehicle for polish easier.

Hey Pan, is there any need to rinse the car first. Or should I wash the car first? Or apply the iron remover then wash the car?
You would wash the car first. When you are done rinsing, you have two options. Fully dry the paint, then spray the iron remover, then rinse again. Or, while the paint is still wet, spray the iron remover, then rinse. If you want to save time and be more efficient, you spray on the wet paint.
See how I do this process when I fully detail a car: ruclips.net/video/0lC9uyKXs8Q/видео.html
Hi Pan. Looking to buy my first DA polisher. Griots just released G9. Hope you have a review in the works and/or comparison with Maxshine offerings. Enjoy your channel...thanks!
Can you do a review on Technicians choice ceramic coating. Not the detail spray.
Pan TheOrganizer Damn Pan your the Man! I knew you would have a great point to my question. Thx 👍🏻.
Also, I really am eyeing that new Air cannon from Adams. Do you think you’ll ever get on to review? What is your general air drying tool of choice?
Thx again.
You had to rinse the car and switch the sides. Apply one product after another. After that we could see which one is doing good job. :)
Great Idea 💡
I would have liked to see the panels washed off then trade sides to see if the opposing product would remove any residuals. I cant justify spending $15 more for Carpro
That would be a great test
4 times the price difference, even if you need to apply eagle product twice it’s still cheaper , but it looks like they both perform equally well
Audrius Palaima 👍🏽
I agree. I didn't see four times more purple.
ues on your wheel you will find out...... iron X got expensive for reason.... i tried.....
I can vouch eagle one cleaner smells horrible. But works ! On my wheels that is. Never tired it on my car paint
Cheaper, unless you factor in time... then Eagle 1 is waaay dearer.
As a lifelong marketer, this illustrates the power of brand and why companies spend money on branding. Perception. Which in this case can carry a 4x premium.
Camilo Machado Too true mate.
Can you imagine guys riding around in their trucks with an "Igloo" sticker on the back instead of a "Yeti" ? lol
@@thebreaks604 no, but tbh igloo sucks I put ice in my igloo and it only last 2 hours and it's all water by then, my yeti cooler tho will outperform the igloo by a longshot! ice will last till tomorrow afternoon! But I do agree that yeti prices there products WAAAY too high
Right on, just another sector of the cosmetics industry glob it on or wash it down the sink. Has anyone used L.A,'s Totally Awesome Cleaner from Dollar Tree? The stuff is unreal.
Fact
They both seem to do an equally good job of removing iron particles. I'd go for Eagle One rather than paying 4 times the price for Iron-X.
I definitely think I’m going to grab Eagle One now 👍🏼 Pretty darn impressive.
Thanks for honouring the source of the video style. 👌🏽. This is why you’ll continue to grow Pan. Very genuine and credit is given to where it’s due. Nice to see your take on tests.
Thanks for the feedback. :)
Thanks once again Pan The Man!!!
I purchased Carpro Ironx on Amazon got lost in transit.. So I purchased Meguiars all wheel cleaner for $10 us and it worked very well.. Looks like I will be getting the Eagle one now!! Anytime a product does that well and is only a quarter of the price is worth it to me... Just goes to show we don’t have to break the bank trying to take care of our cars!! Thanks again Pan👍🏻
Thanks!
Car pro was slightly better but not worth the price, eagle 1 all day long for me. You can do the car twice with eagle 1 and still be more cost effective
Eagle one is working great for me. Easy to find at the store. Win win.
Was thinking about trying the eagle one , now for sure i will thanks from 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
Thanks for watching Anthony!
Hi Pan. Customer service at Eagle One says those products are not made to be used on paint, just on wheels. Can you then tell us why you feel safe using that on paint? I also think they both perform equally. Thanks :-)
Some companies would rather protect themselves to make sure a user don't go off label use without detailing experience. Factory OEM wheels are clear coated in the same process as your paintwork's clear coat. Iron removers like CarPro IronX are clear coat safe, and IronX is even pH neutral, and will cause no damage to paintwork. The majority of iron removing products are safe on paintwork in my opinion and experience. Of course always test in inconspicuous areas first, but I don't see any issues.
@@PanTheOrganizer Thanks for your very clear and complete answer! :-)
A lot of people use meguiars ultimate all wheel cleaner as an iron x equivalent. I read their product manager state d1801 is 30-40% stronger than ultimate all wheel and thinner so it spreads better on large paint surfaces rather than wheels. And is available in gallon or 5 gallon
@@PanTheOrganizer @Pan The Organizer I have horizontal vinyl accent strips running the length of my vehicle. I've noted where Iron Remover is not recommended on plastics & vinyl. Should I avoid in using the product. Covering the accent strips with protective tape will take longer than applying the iron remover.
The difference is not great but I think on the trunk the Carpro wins. For me always Capro IronX. Thanks for the test!!
Thanks!
Salut Pan.
It seems as though the Carpro product works slightly better, but in my opinion it's not worth four times the cost of the Eagle One product. Thanks for another informative video Pan.
Thanks Archie!
Used Iron X today for the first time. Worked great. Worked even better when I was up wind of it.
Cool! Ideally you wouldn't use this on a windy day as you don't want the product to dry on the paint, and want to let it dwell long enough for it to do its thing (as per the instructions).
Looks equal. How about a cross application? Apply Eagle One and CarPro as you did, rinse thoroughly, then apply again to the other's side (Eagle One on CarPro side and vice versa) to see if the other cleans more. Credit to Brian from Apex Detail for the idea. He just released a video doing this with P&S vs Adams wheel and tire cleaners.
+1 I was just about to make the same comment
Credit anyone for comparison idea? I think cavemans compared wooden bats, so they can conclude which one is better to use...
Great video! They both seemed to work about the same. Iron Blaster I think would be good to do a comparison with also. I used Adam’s Iron Remover last night and the white car didn’t have much purple but I followed it with Iron Blaster for fun and there was purple all over the paint. Glad you gave Jimbo a shout out!
Test meguiar's wheel & paint iron decon D1801 !?
have you ever used it on paint
I wish they didn’t smell that bad. My garage smelled for a few days after opening the Iron X bottle but it worked like a charm.
For the money I’d go with eagle one. I have not used that brand. But used Maguires ultimate wheel cleaner as a iron X. I would have liked to see the products used on each other. Rinse off then apply each product to each other’s side to see what would happen.
Iron X is a bit better but not by much.
I agree, $ 20 for a bottle is insane.
I think they are equally good...my a slight win to iron X ? But at the price of the Eagle One it's great
I can't find the Eagle One Black & Plasti-Coat anymore is there something else I can use instead?
Thank you so much Pan for doing this and all your videos! Your objectivity is very refreshing and informative. They’re both fantastic products. One piece of feedback I would give is after testing the products on their specific sides, rinse it off and switch sides to see if it would continue to be effective on the opposite side and that would be a great test to see which is more effective. Keep up the great work and continue on providing great content and information for the detailing world! Love your work!
Thanks for the positive feedback Richard, I appreciate it! Have a great day!
Thank you Pan, I was wondering about that :-0) The price went up a to 5,99 when I last left USA and everyone began using this product for decon.
Have a great weekend Julie!
This would be the Eagle One every day of the week for me! Why would we keep on supporting these high dollar brands that have been ripping us all this time for pretty much nothing...?!
Plus I think this tends to keep people away from the detailing hobby as they would see it as expensive and kind of esoteric in a way...
Thumbs up 👍 for this great demo and this once again great detailing vid from Pan TheOrganizer!
Would have been even better if each product was tried on the other's side to see if anything still reacts there. Just my two cents...
Thank you Pan!
Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the feedback! 👍🏻
It would have been interesting to see what would happen if you rinsed it all off; then spayed the Eagle 1 on the Car Pro side and vice versa.
I better run to the parts store to pick up some eagle one before the shelves get cleared :)
I would say the IronX did a better job at dissolving Iron Oxide, also known as rust. This will allow your clay bar to remove the iron particles out of the clear coat easier. These product do not melt iron (common misconception) these products dissolve the Iron Oxide (what you see as purple) around the iron. The Iron Oxide causes the iron particles to get stuck in your clear coat. As the iron rust in the clear coat, the rusting expands and causes the iron to get lodged into the clear coat.
theplayernkc thanks for clarifying that! I suspected as much and was going to research it more.
Great informative video Pan. I saw your last vid with your brother and it was amazing. I washed my brother’s Jeep last week as well and I used your tips and tricks to replicate your work. Now my Sister-in-Law wants me to wash her car now.
Hehehe that’s awesome! 👍🏻
Thanks Pan I hope one day I can get you detail my dad’s Hummer H2
What country do you live in Cristian?

Oh cool! Cheers from Montreal !!
A long-time viewer, first-time commenter.
Both of these contain Ammonium thioglycolate (thioglycolic acid is the smelly component). From my recollection (can't find MSDS now), Eagle One's pricing is the SAME as Iron X if you take into account the concentration of Ammonium thioglycolate in Eagle One's product (~5% vs 20%, maybe off on numbers). I personally use Eagle One, not because it is cheap but its lower concentration. If I need more, I will spray one more time and no need to get into dilution of Iron X.
Good videos BTW, really appreciate 'to the point' information that helps a newbie like me.
Thanks Tee Jay! Nice to see long time viewers that also comment. Feel free to comment more often! As you can tell, I always try to interact with my audience. :).

@@PanTheOrganizer Your 10-year-old vehicle detailing video and detailing college-bound kid's vehicle made me subscribe to the channel (another account). I watched those videos at least 10-15 times to get a good hang of what you actually did. It helped a lot to get my toes wet into detailing my own vehicles.
A request if you don't mind. I live in a condo (NY) where we don't have access to running water and electricity in the parking lot. Summer is not an issue but in winter, it gets tricky. With a truckload of salt every mile of the road, it takes no time for the car to get covered in salt. How would you suggest to wash it off, with no access to running water or 2 bucket method not feasible (due to winter), no coin washes either.
I thought I was clicking on Jim’s channel cause of the name of the video. For you to give him a shout out shows that you are a real class act.

I found your channel when I was researching the formidable TW seal and shine back in the day. You did a black suv and that sealed it for me. Been a subscriber since and greatly appreciate the wealth of information you provide to us non professionals. Thanks for all your efforts ❤️
My pleasure! I want to make detailing accessible for everyone to enjoy. :)
Had an old bottle of armor all wheel and tire cleaner. Just spot treated the rust dots. Worked fine as well on pearl white seqoia. Thanks.
Iron- X is a stronger concentration which is #1. The paint looks better after iron x.
But you can't deny eagle one is an excellent choice for 2nd place
Good points!
Honestly, they both did a equal comparison on both body and Rims. For me personally, I thought car pro kick was gonna take the lead. The comparison was ideally equal on both products. For me I’m not much of a name brand type of person, I would definitely go with the cheapest product if it’s so close to the competition. I would change bottles tho 😂
Definitely change the bottle.
I think, if your a detailer, have both on hand. use the Eagle One for wheels and maintenance, and the ironX for ceramic/paint prep..
Hey pan could you review autoglym products there easier to get at Canadian tire and would love to see the magma review
First of all thanks for your hard work on doing all this videos. Love them.
That Eagle One is damn impressive. You absolutelly need to do more of these cheap-expensive videos. An interior all purpose cleaner wiil do next :p.
Just a quick observation - the wind was blowing the sprays onto the other side so in reality you had a mix of Eagle one landing on the hood as well as the Carpro and then the reverse on the back end!
I know you don't recommend it but Pan your viewers in Los California (where we don't have clouds and it's always sun Shining) need to know what kind of products do you recommend to work under the sun I'm thinking you should do a video for recommendation of products to work under the sun especially with car shampoo and snow foams
Good idea! For car shampoos in direct sunlight, Adam's Car Shampoo is one of my favourites.

Hi Pan, the link to the Eagle One now takes you to the Walmart site and say's it's "out of stock" in all nearby stores and also for delivery. It might be discontinued. Several other attempts to search for it will usually bring up an ad for Jay Leno's Garage products.
It's quite possible, as this video is many years old now, and things can change.
I was waiting for the part where u rinse and spray the product on the opposite side to see which product left the most iron.
Yeah both are pretty equal so why not save some money especially if you are doing an inexpensive car. Yes please keep doing these kind of comparisons. You are such a great help to us enthusiast out here.

Hi Pan
I am from Toronto , and used Adams Iron remover to clean the barrels of my 8 year old snow tire rims, Adams has a pleasant smell and seemed too work great.
Q1 Can you do a review of the top 6-8 iron removers that are available in Canada , please .
Q2 Can you please review how to clean barrels (deep Clean) of 8 (or so) year old alluminum SNOW tires.
Thank you for all your great videos ....this is a GREAT channel !!!
I get $30 of eagle one Pan, I just bought Adam's iron remover for $16 just used it on my 2019 Durango RT and almost gone. thanks I look for some at my nearest pep boys or auto zone.
You need a new tyre on the passengers side as there is a bulge right where it says ContiProContact at the 2 o'clock position on the tyre this could blow out if not changed
I was thinking the same thing when i saw the bubble lol
Looks like a vein just waiting to burst lol. Don't know much but it definitely doesn't look normal.
@@jashuajean-louis1634 It certainly does look like a "tire aneurysm," doesn't it?
How often would you suggest using an iron remove product?
Tyler Lockhart , see Mr Rios question and reply.
At least twice yearly. Once before winter to prep the paint, and once in the spring for the nice season to come.
Looks like Car Pro takes the lead by a hair, but at a 4X cost, probably not worth it. Thanks for the comparison vid and all your hard work and contributions to the community. I think I'll favor the Eagle 1 for this one.
Thanks! How did you discover my channel by the way?
I'm new to the detailing world and just searched for as many detailing vids as I could. Yours are some of the most detailed and well done I have found! Thanks again, I look forward to many more!
The closest I could find of the eagle is the triple cleaning foaming wheel cleaner now in an orange bottle. I ordered it at NAPA auto parts. Eagle is hard to find in Southern California. I tired it on some of the paint next along with meguiars iron remover. The eagle I could see nothing. Obviously not the same product or they changed the mix. The meguiars had a lot of purple. But 25 dollars a quart is extremely expensive for a huge truck needing two quarts. Any future purchases will be gallon size form whoever is most reasonable.
Great video, and respect for your integrity by giving jimbo due props.
Thank you!
What process would u do after iron remover? Keep doing cheap vs
Clay bar is usually the next step.
They seem to be very close.
Pan, one question... When you apply a fall out, that does not mean you have to clar bar after right?
Exactly. Usually you would follow and iron remover with a claybar, but it’s not mandatory unless you’re polishing paint. And you don’t clay ceramic coated cars, you just use iron removers.
@@PanTheOrganizer Thanks a lot Pan!
I have used IronX for several years. Tried Eagle One on several cars. IMO IronX is more concentrated for sure. So if time is money for some then you want IronX cause youll use less and prob only one pass. I generally always do a claybar after so the eagleone saves $ but you prob want to do 2 passes for sure taking twice the time... thx for the review Pan
Damn, the Eagle One works like a champ! It started working as soon as I started spraying it, on my car! Awesome price (I got it under $5.00), as well!
Im using this with the Sonax Surface Rust Remover ironer on my brake rotors of my GTI Clubsport. Is that okay? Its extremely much cheaper than buying new rotors & gets em back to new shiny condition Fast... Spraying then rub em with a towel then throw it, or maby use for degreasing other old car or other super dirty stuff laters 👍
Seemed to me that both products worked well, with the iron X performing only slightly better than the eagle one.
Great review, thank you! Eagle One is the "best bang for the buck" for sure!
Thanks Donald!
Was watching another channel and got a Pan the organizer ad! First ad I didn’t skip!
Heheh I'm curious to what ad it was Brandon? As I have never made ads... Was it me in my videos? Or did someone steel my footage and use it for their purposes? Can you give me more details?
Carpro Iron X seems to be the superior product in this test. I use both Carpro Iron X and Meguiars Iron Decon Remover for all of my details. Both are excellent products
I haven't tried the Meguiar's yet. Many of my viewers tell me that I should.
Wow, one that I missed.Really good job of explaining. I enjoyed it.
Glad you liked it! An oldie but a goodie!
Thanks Pan! Eagle One is an awesome less expensive Iron Remover with great results. Paid less than $5.00 at Wal-Mart.
👍🏻
Iron X has a slight advantage and I will continue to use that, but it's good to know I can get Eagle One in a pinch.
Thanks for watching!
Looks like Eagle One is the winner for me. Thanks!
Can't seem to find Eagle One Black and Plasti coat anywhere. Contacted the manufacturer (Energizer products) , they did Not indicate it was discontinued but told me to contact the big box stores (including Lowe's?!)for availability.
I think the price difference between the two is the level of safety of the product. I would trust Iron X on a customers ceramic coated car more than eagle one just because of Carpros knowledge of ceramic coatings. They may do similar jobs but the cost cutting has to come from somewhere.
If you pause at 7:22, it's interesting how much of a difference there is between the left and right sides of the license plate.
Nice comparison Pan :D.Btw...1 question...how do you remove an old ceramic coating on a vehicle paints 🤔
Edited:My mom's car is coated by Optimum Opti Seal.
Machine polish is best bet
Brake buster
Thanks! Optimum Opti-Seal is a paint sealant, not a ceramic coating. Opti-Coat Pro, Opti-Coat Pro+ and Optimum Gloss Coat are their coatings. But to answer your question, the only true way to remove a ceramic coating is by machine polishing.
Eagle one for the win . Thanks pan .
Thanks!
Have you seen the MSDS sheet on Iron-X? I would definitely wear a respirator, gloves and goggles. Scary stuff.
Wow Pan your EagleOne sprayer worked flawlessly, I have had issues on the PVD sprayers!!!!!
If you are a professional Detailer it’s best to use something that is most effective at the lowest price point. Eagle One would win at the consumer level but what if you need a 1 or 5 gallon size? What’s the price for something like this?
So is it safe to use a wheel cleaner that can remove iron particles on the paint?
Yes. It can be used in OEM wheels and paint. Plastic trim safe as well since it’s designed for plastidip wheels.
Sure, as long as it's a wheel cleaner with color changing technology (meaning it contains the active ingredient to dissolve iron particles). I wouldn't use regular wheel cleaners on paint, that's not what they're designed for. But CarPro Iron X can be used on wheels, glass and paint.
Ok
So here goes
My wifes car was warshed x2 in last 3 weeks plus a full 6 stage* clean n exterior detail
Old wax and fading removed with a medium polish
Next up another detail
More polish to remove scratches etc
So after the above which included a thorough clay bar i boight some iron remover and much to my suprise very little purple Showing
Only one wheel !!
Next up will do a large jeep that has only minimal cleaning and see how badly iron contamination is on it
Pan
U r the best much respect!!
Thanks!
Why would you use a clay bar and then an iron remover? Why not just the iron remover?
Dr. Michael Bennett
Learning ?
that bug is loving life 3:20. one bottle of the adam's iron remover barely got my whole car done. 135i is a small car too. going to give eagle one a shot and it's at autozone. thanks!
Hi Pan!! Does any of these remove the ceramic coating or paint sealant like beadmaker?
These kinds of products are designed to be used during a decontamination phase, so before a sealant or ceramic is applied. If your paint is already sealed or coated an iron remover won't work properly.
Yes you can use IronX on a ceramic coated car. CarPro themselves actually recommend it as part of the coating refresh after a few months when you see contamination.
@@PanTheOrganizer thanks!
Both would give Beadmaker a pretty hard time.....
It is recommended to do a strip wash before you use Iron X so you go straight to the point. But anyway, decontamination will ruin your waxes and beadmaker! Do not use it until you are planning to go through a full protection again.
Ceramic brakes wont cause purple on wheel like the higher end sports cars. As well the rear of the car gets more "iron" due to exhaust not brakes. Usually the exhaust system breaking down and any fall out being kicked up.
Iron X is stronger but for times the price I am not sure if is a logical buy, When you decide to use the product on a car ? and how frequently need to be use in the car . Whats the main reason to use the iron remover .
I have a question unrelated to iron removal. How do I get a nice even uniform look while dressing rubber trim around the outer windows and what product would you recommend?
Kari Kolton-Zajackowski Carpro Perl diluted 10:1
Great review. Eagle One was listening. The upped the price to nearly match CarPro.

Great info. Someone else suggested Eagle One All wheel & tire would work on this w/o harming paint. Said it's ph neutral & won't damage clear coat on wheels. Wonder how much of a difference there is in that and the black & plastic.
I really love putting these products on a white car. You can really see just how clean a car really is. :)
Yup :)
I’ve used eagle , it’s kind of hard to find by me but one bottle was barely enough for my Saab on the first deep clean I did.
After letting the fallout remover dwell for a bit, am I suppose to wipe it off, or wash it off with a pressure washer? Which is better?
I like the Eagle One I think it does a great job
Pan, can you do a side by side on expensive ipa prep be a cheap ipa prep
In the rear of the car, the Iron X, seems to be working better?
Here's the thing, does Eagle One actually REMOVE iron particles? If you read the Eagle One label or any of the marketing materials, it claims to only IDENTIFY contaminants by changing color. It never claims to remove them. Iron X and other products on the other hand claim to dissolve iron particles. That's a pretty big difference between the two. I assume the Eagle One just turns the stuff purple so you can agitate the area and physically remove contaminants. It doesn't claim to chemically alter them in any way. I think some folks may be getting confused by this product. To me, it doesn't appear to be an actual iron remover.
I would say they get the job done. I use eagle one and love it. Iron x I have yet to use
another great video.. just because a product costs 4 times more doesn't always mean it will be any better...good work
Thanks James! What’s your favourite video on my channel so far?

I have a number of favorites some of which are about ceramics and sealants and the your 2020 best products...keep up the good work
Eagle one did surprisingly well despite the price
Pan, can you do a heads up battle between P&S Bead Maker and The Last Coat 2?
I'll make a comment instead of a video. P&S wins.
Actually it’s TLC2 hands down for durability, chemical resistance and hydrophobics. Bead Maker for gloss and slickness. They both have their strengths.
@@PanTheOrganizer so would you recommend TLC2 as a base coat, then top off with P&S bead maker?
Beadmaker is a great topper no matter what the base is, so yes, use the two products !
Absolutely!
Thank you Pan, for all of this useful informatino. You explained every thing so efficiently, no second on your video is wasted. I have just one question, what kind of respritory mask filter should I use applying Tar and Iron remover? I have never done this before.
Eagle I use it great product my only problem is with the sprayer itself stop working after using it 3 times
I think safe some money. The quality is good for both.
I think that I am going to pick up a few bottles of the Eagle one because it appears to do what is supposed to do. Your video helped me to make a decision, Thanks Pan!
Thanks Paul!
Thanks for showing these videos, I watched the video with turtle was ice and I've been using it ever since. It works great
Unfortunately I will be switching to the Eagle One. I just cannot justify the additional $15.00 dollars for the CarPro. IMHO we are seeing big box store manufactures providing professional products and 1/2 the price. That’s good for the small business that operate on a tighter budget. Thank you Pan for the cVe video.
