26:54 to find out the top three best working products
im watching the whole thing i love the build up :D
Life saver thz
Thank God we have functioning cerebrum and can process information before 26:54 that helps understand the results.....
@@TheRebuilt1 I do like the detail but I find he repeats himself lot. Kind of frustrating when I just want the facts and results specially on a 45min video.
Your very good at chopping that powder up jon 🤣
Its good stuff.. been shitting rust all week though.
I noticed that too. Looked like he has had practice. lol
some say he used to be pablo escobars personal detailer
@@DavidC1 dealer*
@@AlexT1994 pretty sure he means detailer since cleaning cars as in dealer... detailer? 🤷♀️
I guess we all have our product & brand favourites & allegiances so it's always good to take on-board your impartial reviews & attempts to incorporate an objective element - Good stuff ! As a hobbyist my personal spend won't make or break anyone but if performance is up to the mark, I am always willing to spend an extra quid or two to support a British manufacturer or supplier.
I am amazed at the amount of detail you get into. Don't think there is anyone else who does this. Top show mate.
Glad I found you! So many sponsored channels who don’t bother doing controlled comparisons. You are much appreciated!
Best explanation anywhere of how these products work. Thanks for sharing!
NOW thats what i call a thorough columbo/forensic test!!!! well done sir and thank you sooooo much for taking the time and going the extra mile to do a in depth test that no one has done yet great work!!!!!
The thoroughness of your tests are really second to none. I love this, and appreciate the time, effort and resources you put into your work on these tests. Awesome, and keep it up please :) Best regards from Norway
Fallout removers tested to destruction with a fantastic amount of underpinning knowledge.
Thank you so very much
The usual top quality analysis and review. When I got into car detailing I Iron X'ed my wheels to death until they shined like a new pin. I moved onto Carpro Trix as a maintenance measure because there is a degree of tar splashing where we live which is a real pain. Not only does it hit the wheels it also sends 2mm blobs onto the paintwork. It works fine as a regular touch and keeps both iron and tar at bay. I am tempted by the Bilt Hamber stuff though, especially at a tenner a litre.
Have you tried the BH?
Mein Gott!! That was absolutely, positively the most thorough and comprehensive auto product review I HAVE EVER SEEN. Fair and balanced.
Well done, sir. Well done.
And, thank you.
I still can't believe the lengths you go to and the detail (no pun intended) you go into John! Another great job mate.
Before I buy anything I come to this channel to get the best advice and best testing !!
You are a real hero here!!
This very thorough review is spot on! I bought the Bilt Hamber product after trying NanoSkin, Eagle1, Iron-X and watching this video. (Should've watched it before as I would have saved time and money. DAMMIT.) The stuff did a spectacular job on paint / wheels on a Porsche which which produces a lot of brake dust. Bilt Hamber worked exactly as advertised and reviewed. Not the most inexpensive product but the results are well worth the price.
Great test, I've used a few different fallout removers and ever since I tried Bilt Hamber Korrosol I haven't used anything else.
Picked up carpro trix, mix between ironx and tar x, for the wife's car. That stuff works really well too but you have to shake the living hell out of it while spraying to keep the two products mixed properly.
Thanks for doing this kind of stuff man. Helps us weekend warriors save cash!
Top video my dear sir. This is the kind of tests everyone needs, but not everyone comes across.
Outstanding description of fallout - very informative, thank you!
You take testing to another level to anyone else! I thought as I opened this video "I bet Bilt Hamber wins!" and was right. Everything they do just works very well and they don't make a fuss about it.
What a superb extensive test .... well done Sir.
These comparative videos are my favorite by far. Would love to see Autosmart and Autobrite added to these though. Thanks.
Wow this must have taken ages, thank you so much for taking the time to compare these, personally i use Autosmart Red 7 i get it at 5 litres for £25 its very thick compared to the range you have shown and seems to work well.
I second autosmart red 7
25 quid for 5 litres , only a 5 er per litre
I’ve tested red 7 to auto finesse which was 24 quid a litre yet no better than the red 7
bilt hamber is better and cheaper
@@DavidC1 how is it. £52.95 for 5ltr I make that 0ver £10 a litre so twice the price??
Great video !,I just purchased bilt hamber off the back of the video
Thanks
Jon, great, thorough test. Well done. Personally I have been using Merlins Blood for a while. A bit more expensive, but does well on heavily soiled wheels.
Love how car cleaning can become a chemistry lesson sometimes
Just found this channel today, thank you for your hardworking sir.
Love you reviews. Well thought out and thorough. Well done!
Great video mate. Must of taken you ages! Cheers for the Hard work 👍🏻
Very thorough, great information and a fair review.outstanding work.!!!!.
Great review Jon. One thing I'd recommend with these products is always always wear eye protection.
Brilliant job Jon as always
Brilliant! Thanks for the test and great video.
Have to agree with you Jon the Bilt Hamber products are quality and work so well. I wont use anything else now as ive found it so good.
Christopher Raybone does this bilt hamber wheel cleaner ok to use on car body(paint work) thanks as bilt hamber does a separate cleaner called Korrosol for that ? If you can clarify that for me thanks
@@MotoQuickShifter yes the auto wheels is just a thicker version of Korrosol designed to cling to your wheels a bit longer.
baz15god thank you bud
Bazgod is correct, the only difference is the viscosity of the autowheel is slightly thicker to help stick to the wheels where the Korrosol is a run off
I love the Alfa Romeo parking sign you had on the wall I wish I could get one
Glad to find this vid, was about to order some wheel cleaning products
Super methodical review and test! Good job!. I have my theory on the bleeding part: it only inicates iron deposits and nothing more. Why I say this: i have an aquaruim (planted tank) and all iron tests (iron is key for water plants health) turn purple when adding the reagent solution. The more purple - the more iron in your aquarium water.
Another piece of advice: when comapring price it is better the use price/liter of the main SKU of the brand. If you add bulk items tou artificially favor them. And to be honest...weekend warriors dont need 5 liters of iron remover :)
Im not sure about the fishtank thing buddy.. but if its testing for iron and its turning purple.. I would prolly bet its actually the same thing and its picking up iron oxide??? If it isnt then its a different thing that Im not aware of..
all offerings had bulk offering size.. I would argue would have been a bad choice to not factor in 5l in the averages.. weekend warriors may want 5l.. they may not.. professionals may want it etc.. the way I did it does not discriminate for either and just creates a simple value for money accross the range.. would be overthinking it to do it any other way, and someone else would likely pick up on the fact I had not factored it in etc... (trust me on that)
great stuff though m8 thanks for watchign and feeding back thats the name of the game...
Another great video John and just in the nick of time as I was going cold turkey, wondering when the next one was coming. 😂 My personal preference is the Bilt Hamber and in particular the Korrosol which I use as a follow up after cleaning my wheels. Belt and braces. 👍🏼
new review/test as always jon but would of been nice to see car chem revolt in this :) thanx again
The Gyeon Iron remover is one of my favourite.
very well explained bro. thanks for great information. even after five years I got a lot of knowledge from this video.
Great test, thank you !
Thank for doing this . Well done
Hi Jon great test great video keep em coming :-).
I love Koch Chemie Felgenblitz. It is effective, you can use it on rims and paint. It is also cheap!
The most effective one I think is Bilt Hamber Korrosol, but this one is almost twice as expensive!
I'm surprised to see Sonax Full Effect wasn't included in this test considering the brand is pretty big.
Nathanial Dupont and shiny garage 👌
Very thorough and informative review and test. I was just googling further information on these type of cleaners and according to one site the colour change of these products is not an indication of its effectiveness. Instead, the colour is the result of an ingredient added to the product that changes colour due to the chemical reaction. Furthermore, the amount of colour change is only an indication of how much of that colour changing ingredient is in the formulation and is not an indication of how much iron is being dissolved. Not sure if this is in fact true but sounds like something worth exploring further.
Great review. Kinda surprised you chose the Auto Pro product in second place considering you didn't mention it at all during the review and it was never in the top 3 performers of any categories. I'm in the market for a good fallout remover and this review helped me a lot.
Great video thanks for the effort, I'm just getting my geek on about caring for my body work now i finally own a half decent car, this has saved me a lot of wasted money in finding the best product for my cash👍
I'm getting a whole new education. Great video.
Another great video. Very informative. The fallout on the car didn't look like fallout tho. Looked more like mould/tree sap. I know it turned the product purple but a bird poop turns purple also.
You need a Patreon site!! Keep up the good work!!
great work my friend this helped me out alot
Hey John, in a previous video you analysed all of Bilt Hamber's detailing products. In it you mentioned that you'd use Korrosol for the paint and keep auto wheels for the wheels. Is that still the case seeing as it wasn't evaluated in this test? I only ask because I'm in the U.S. and want to know if I can expect the same results from auto wheels. I understand its degreasing properties may strip coatings, but I'll only be using this when I plan on sealing/waxing after anyway.
Totally agree with you on those Triggers, Great Video!
Prior to getting hooked on Johns vids and testing and knowing nothing about detailing. I went to my local Halfords and asked for the best alloy wheel cleaner... Autoglym clean wheels 500ml was suggested (at about £8. I used it as per the instructions and used a toothbrush to agitate the stubborn dirt. The results were very disappointing. After watching this I ordered Bilt Hamber and an EZ detail brush. Used it for the first time today. Absolutely amazing and quick. My alloys have got some tricky bits to get to but the BH. Has shifted most of it on the first go. I didn’t realise that the inside of the wheel was alloy as well 😊 I always thought it was black. I reckon by the time I do them a second time all the fallout and contamination will be gone,
Thanks for the info and product testing
thanks Stevem its very powerfull using these to clean wheels. and the results are good.. it does shift stubborn dried out brake dust and leaves the wheels really clean.. its almost like a halfway house between a strong alkaline cleaner and a full on agressive acid.. down side is just the stink, the cost, and you will notice they promote corrsion on the brake disks.
Stench wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be and the surface rust on disks is minimal, it’s no worse than any time I have had my car cleaned or cleaned it myself. A quick drive after soon sorts it out. Thanks for the info and time you take John, it is also appreciated that you take time to reply.
I did get some C5 armour, but I will give the wheels a second clean first and get back to you
Great detailed video thanks
Just wanted to say your channel has to be one of the best, non bias, informative and honest RUclips channels regarding detailing products. Your channel is my no1 go to the second I am trying to decide on buying new products to try.
Just out of curiosity do you plan on doing a more recent fallout remover video, has anything else come on the market since filming this that could stand up against some of these?
Thanks in advance and keep up the great content 👍
nothing new that topples bilt hamber.
@@ForensicDetailing appreciate the reply dude thanks 👍
I bought some surfex HD after watching one of your videos and have to say its unreal compared to valetpro which I was using before. Used the surfex hd neat on a steering box of an old vintage tractor and it worked an absolute treat taking off over 20 years of grease, oil and dirt in less than a minute blasting it with a seriously old k2 power washer. Unreal stuff.
I'd love to see a comparison of Korrosol vs. Auto Wheel Cleaner in dissolving iron fallout
The daddy of fallout remover reviews. Thanks Jon.
Love this Jon👍
Really good tests Jon, felt like I was back at school, learning something actually interesting!
Awesome, thanks a lot for this video
So I watched this video last night and bought some Bilt Hamber on next delivery from Amazon , I’m actually shocked as to how good it is , I’m not one for cleaning products but wow it does what it says it will , 👌👍😉
it really does clean well. Quite simply Auto wheels as a wheel cleaner it will shift out all sorts of rubbish off the alloys. If your maintaining them regularly you can use just simple car soap most times but on dirty alloys these products work wonders and will attack the bonded contamination. Korrosol is the one to use for paintwork ideally.
@@ForensicDetailing I was quite surprised as to how well it worked . if I new how to upload pics on here I would
Nothing if not thorough 👍
eagle one triple cleaning foam works good and cheap, good video brother
I have always used Bilt Hamber Korrosol as a fall out remover and Auto Wheel as a wheel cleaner
I second that
In 1988 i took a solid white Renault 25 on a motorail - it rained on the journey followed by hot sun ; the paint was so spotty - took me days to clean/polish it off - no iron fall out remover back then - no warnings from the train company - I had no idea it was iron fallout
Great video and so thorough - thanks! Based on your initial explanation of what fallout is and the debates between using fallout before or after washing, if the products are only removing the iron oxide to make the removal of iron easier after application, does that suggest a full wash after is better? Or even better a wash, application of fallout remover followed by another full wash to fully remove the lose iron and not just the iron oxide reactant?
I generally spray on, leave to react and rinse off and then clay. I think you are saying is it worth making some sort of pre claying contact with the paintwork.. Like rub it with a wash mitt or a microfiber.. I dont think really the second wash or the pre clay contact with a mitt is adding anything in terms of the decontamination process.. So I would just rinse and clay. Not sure If Im right.. but I dont think it would make too much difference either way elliot.
Though it's unfortunate that most of the products discussed are not common in the US, still an interesting video. FWIW, I use Iron-X and C.A.R. Products Melt, the latter being an excellent value from a local distributor.
I’ve only used autobrite purple rain 2 would of been nice to see that in the mix I find it surperb .
Great review btw 👍
I also use purple rain, but the 3.0 version. It works amazingly well, and is competitively priced too.
HDD Ferrus has been my got to for the last 12 months. Cant beat it in my opinion and I have tried quite a few of the ones on test here.
Great video, thanks for your opinion on Ferrous Ferric (iRON Fallout Gel) this took over 6 months to get the formulation to where it is now, this as superb clinging ability and surprised it didn't finish higher in the bleeding reaction part as it bleeds bright red / purple nice rich colour and is superb valve for money.
It's a bit of a bear to watch through such a lengthy video with such detailed information. I really wish there was a written version of all the info presented in this video (the test methodology, reasons for each test, and specific results).
Love the video Jon. Have you thought about comparing bleeding fallout removers with acid based non bleeding ones?
cheers martin, not really thought about doing that. I tend to use acidic ones when they are in a really bad state. The acids works by sort of corroding or shrinking the contaminant, but these ones work by disolving the rust on them.. so its not really a sort of like for like comparison but yer could be worth talking about this.
Hi John, I have the bug, you did warn me 😊 so about £120 down the line so far and enjoying, looking after the car. Bilt Hamber seems to come high up in your testing on all aspects. So as they are a local company, I am tending to stick with them.
Thanks for getting me into this. Cleaning has become fun , easy and productive.
Unrelated question do you do Jam nights?
Thanks
Steve B
I have CARPRO IRON X and I am pleased.
I'm becoming a BH fan :D
Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel isn't even a fallout remover, it's a wheel cleaner. Their fallout remover is called Korrosol and it's amazing.
Wrong
@@tsotsi5254 I've used both professionally for years.
Does AutoWheel react? Yes.
So it is a fallout remover.
It is basically Korrosol with Surfex HD added into it.
I literally used it today. It reacted with iron and went purple.
🤣🤷🏼♂️
@@tomrafal3655 I mean, your literally commenting on a fallout remover test video, with said product involved in the iron fallout remover test….🤣😂😅…
@@tsotsi5254 what I'm saying is that, although it does have fallout remover properties it's diluted with degreasers and cleaners. It's also marketed by Bilt Hamber as a wheel cleaner (the clues in the name).
Does it react with ferrous material? Yes.
Would Korrosol, their dedicated fallout remover react better? Of course.
I wouldn't use Auto-Wheel all over my car as a fallout remover as that's not its intended purpose, I'd use Korrosol, because that's what it's for.
If you're testing fallout removers use the dedicated product or your data will be inaccurate.
Awesome video
Thank you for the review, very well put together and thought out. I do enjoy your videos as you know but I also like to correct where I think you may be a little off the mark. I must say though, we are over the moon with the results, we could have been last. Ours dries out fairly fast as well although it is slightly thicker than most.
dooka BLEED is made with a different main ingredient to most. You would be better off testing BLEED or the others against those with the same main ingredient, ours would of been better off alongside IronX Lemon Scent rather than standard IronX as they use a different main ingredient, we use the same base as IronX LS. Don't get me wrong as I highly rate IronX and have always been vocal about it ;)..
@dooka detailing
So can you mention the difference between dooka's fallout remover + lemon scent ironX with the regular cherry IronX? What are the pros and cons to both active ingredients?
Holy crap..
You and project farm would pair great!
Meguiars Ultimate Wheel Cleaner is my favorite, it is gel like, stays on the paint longer and turns purple well. I also can get it for around $8 a bottle
Thanks for a GREAT series of youtube videos on detailing. Love your "forensic" style of rating products and common sense application.
I have a couple of questions:
Do you have any experience with CarPro TRIX (Tar and Fallout Remover)?
And what is the correct detailing, step by step, process (maybe this would make a good video?).
Step:
1) Rinse Car
2) Wash Car
3) Decon Car
a) Tar/Sap Remover
b) Fallout Remover
4) Clay
5) Polish
6) IPA/Cleanse
7) Seal
8) Wax
Is that the correct order as many sites and product manufacturers suggest different orders. TBH I trust your advice MUCH more than any other site!!
Not a bad products but you will be better off with a separate fallout and separate tar and glue remover :)..
I'm sure Jon uses autosmart tardis. Id say that would be the steps I'd take when detailing a car. Polish I'd use a machine polisher for that step. Want to do a full detail on my car however there's a few dents letting it down but I don't think I have to worry about it.
Usually there's a local "dent-master". You would be amazed at how good they are and generally pretty reasonable in cost. Find one with good recommendations though.
Hi great video can you use auto fineness iron out on diamond cut polished wheels?
Have you ever used the gyeon iron? Going to get some of the foam as you recommended, might as well get some at the same time if it's any good??
I've just got bilt hamber 5L Jon but what percentage should I mix it?
Loved this video Jon, tell me, if one of the products dries, does it stop working?
yes mate.. because the iron thioglycolic oxide thats formed from the reaction needs to be disolved in a liquid (water) so no liquid means no carrier.
Was surprised to not see Krystal kleen Detail Ferrum/iron rain in the video, have you used either? My go to is Ferrum as it’s 35.99 for 5 litres and does the best job out of the ones I’ve used.
What are your thoughts?
Great video though for sure 👍🏻
Nice video. As u see in this clip and many more. The price makes the difference is compound/polish/pads the rest like TW ICE seal n shine wins all the time so is the most expensive product best anytime?
Subscribed!
Would love to see your opinion on autobrite products .there purple rain is the first iron fallout remover I ever tried
Thanks for the video. Great content as usual. In your opinion, are these iron removers safe for ceramic coating? There seems to be inconsistent opinions, some say that they are perfectly safe while others feel that they do weaken the ceramic coating.
Not sure mate. but I dont think its going to critically smack down a ceramic coating. lots of the stuff online where guys are throwing chems on protective products to show you the effect. your seeing masking more than anything else.
Great video, as always, Jon.
A question: I recently got gifted a bag of Audi cleaning equipment. The wheel cleaner was interesting. It had a high foaming content and a mild reaction to iron. I thought it would be perfect for maintenance cleans. I'm trying to hunt down who makes it for Audi. I know Wurth make their excellent screenwash.
My question is, which (if any) would you use weekly that had a high foam, but low reactivity so are safer to use regularly?
Britemax ironmax would prolly meet your requirements there tony..
Great review again Jon but didn't hear if they were all PH neutral cleaners as this could effect someone's purchase decision apologise if I missed that fact and keep up the good work.
I wouldnt worry too much about the acidity nigel they do turn more acid after the reaction.. became a bit too complex to test (although initially I was gonna have this in there) there was a small amount of varients in the PH of the products but none were particulary acidic in their pre-reactive form.
Far too many people worry about pH neutral products
Using a alkaline based cleaner won't strip your wax ,like John has proved with snow foams that are not pH neutral
Awesome thanks, would these products harm trimming, and or glass?
no, as long as you dont let them dry. I dont tend to target rubber with them. but I do decon glass with them.
Tried Dragons Breath, loved it great results! Didn’t last long on my Kuga, would try other less costly options, 1litre size, any suggestions?
I’ve just changed from the bult hamber to gtechniq. Nothing wrong with auto wheel found the W6 more of gel so stayed on better, also says has a anti rust agent in it. Identical price as well £60.00 for 5 L
How did angel wax do in the test
Does a weak Bilt Hamber product exist.
Seems everything they make is brilliant.
I’ve been using their clay bars for years
They are cheaper than other makes
MADE IN THE 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧👍🏼
Would bilt hamber auto wheel be ok to use as a fall out remover on the body work? Thanks
I really love how you test products. Unfortunately, most of the US/Canada available products were not tested (Optimum Ferrex, Dodojuice Ferrous Dweller, Meguiars (can't remember name of the product), and so on. If you could do a follow up video with the American products it would be amazing... perhaps a collaboration with a large US retailer like Autogeek?
