    I agree with most of what you say. I was recently 'forced' to use an iPhone and was pleasantly surprised as to how every single app worked and behaved. Delightful. But I just had to get an android for my needs. Google Assistant, fantastic call screening just took the cake. The biggest reason I continue with Android is their notifications. I have an iPad and during my 8-9 months of using the iPhone, I kept missing notifications. So, for ME, Pixel is the clear winner.

      @MP-lv5vk 7 месяцев назад

      I agree that call screening would be a great feature on iPhone. I think the delay is due to Apple lagging a bit with AI.
      I think Apple has some interesting customisation features nowadays. You can remove "Home Screen" icons and still have the app accessible in the app screen... I forget the same - swipe to the very right.

      Homescreen customization and keyboard customization. The two missing things that keep me away from iPhone. I envy lots of things about the iphone and would love to use one, but these have been deal breakers.

    • @readifdumb
      @readifdumb 3 месяца назад

      @@hobosnake1 It's funny how I feel like customization is such an easy fix for them. Just add a setting that allows you to import custom icons for apps, and then let the community go wild. As for keyboard, just add a keyboard that is similar functionality wise to Android, but put it behind a setting so that for those that want it, they can go turn that on, while people used to the current keyboard can just stay with it.
      It annoys me how little Apple would have to do to break through the market. RSC messaging and side loading, is apparently coming to iOS in later versions, which is HUGE for iOS to do. I think as we run into a hardware brick wall, and most people are struggling to see it being worth it upgrading their phones, especially with each new phone design basically being the same, Apple switched to all these customization and experimental features all of a sudden (focus modes, lock screen/home screen in-built switching, widgets, remove app instead of delete, and a bunch more settings for a custom experience). All they are really lacking is multiple volume sliders, custom icons, move apps on any tile on home screen, and some extra options when saving/sharing/taking photos.
      I wonder what the future will look like once iOS meets Android in the middle in terms of features, but is still at the top of performance and optimisation?

    2:50 over 100% battery capacity isn't impossible. Batteries have a nominal capacity and a margin, which is usually 50 mAh. So, for example, you could get the lottery where you have a phone with a rated nominal 3000 mAh battery, but an actual capacity of 3050 mAh, which is 101.6% of the nominal capacity. Which explains the 102%!

    LOVE THIS! Spot on!!! Why "I" switched. I tried to go back to Apple, but for ME, it was a horrible experience. I have come to the conclusion that I much prefer Android (and I've used both systems for years). Do what you want, and use what you like and what works for you. Whenever folks would ask me which is better for photography, Canon or Nikon, my answer would always be: "Do you have any glass from either; if you do, stick with that brand. If you do not, go to a store and play with both; they feel different and some folks prefer the feel of one over the other. Get whichever one you like more."

    As someone who mainly uses a Google Pixel, all your reasonings to switching back are absolutely reasonable. Out of all your points, the first one is where Apple just crushes it. Apps! App developers love the straightforward nature of making apps for Apple.
    However, if an app developer wants to broaden their consumer market for their product, they should take care not to burn any bridges with Android users. I know I myself don't bother with apps or products that I can't use on my Android devices, which means I'm one potential customer they just lost. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

      As an app developer I can tell you that developing for the iPhone is a real pain. Xcode is slow and cumbersome and you are locked into MacOS unlike android where a Dev PC can be 20 cores if I need it be. Dev tools are mostly free for android apps but paid on MacOS and in a corporate environment it's not easy to submit security approvals for applications. I generally develop and optimise for android before moving onto iPhones although I know some Devs go the other route.

    I’m a US Veteran and having direct access to my VA record as soon as changes are available is one of the reasons I stick with iPhone. Furthermore, my banking app is miles ahead of its android counterpart. CarPlay is way better too, having a button popup when I’m close to home to open my garage door is just awesome. Fast forward 11years or so now rocking the pixel 7pro which isn't cheap great phone and camera specially, but I'm thinking now to change back to iPhone 15 pro. Reason I want change is a few reasons similar to yours but also resale or trade in value is way more on iPhones, I change my phones every few years but when it comes to selling it any Android phones they lose 60% plus even after a year which is ridiculous. Also pixels using customized Samsung chips and modems aren't great, the modems are really bad keep getting disconnected. Untill they use a non Samsung modem I'll probably give the iPhone a try. I could go on with more reasons we'll be here all day. yes I know the pixel 8 is coming out soon but not sure if it will be any better with the signal issues.

Also not because i like the device or cameras better (I will miss my 10x from the Galaxy S23 ultra!!) but just that apple has everything running. It is boring as f*** but as I am also getting "older" I have less time and also less desire to constantly configure and workaround technical issues. I am not saying I will never return, because I really really like customizing my OS and that is quite not possible on IOS to the extend I desire. Also the extend of sniffing in my private life Google is doing really gets out of controll...
    So ...2024 will be my first IOS Year and I am really curious how this goes because I really am an apple h8ter :-) (mainly for the company politics they apply on their products and users and developers and also for the astronomic prices....and because so many people just buy it as a status symbol and only use 10% of itz functions and eco system)

    I don’t think you know how to use Shortcuts… it can be complicated but it does a bunch of stuff… I have my action button do so many things and depending on what type of Focus Mode I’m on. Just from a press of a button.

    I really can't imagine that someone who has an S23 Ultra will switch to the iPhone 15 Pro Max... And this comes from the mouth of a long-time iPhone user...

    Loved the S23 ultra. But the killer was some of my apps like my local credit unions was a glitch every single time. Had about 4-5 that I would always have issues with.

    @9:44 yeah I don’t buy that, my iPhone 12 mini does that so there’s no reason why yours doesn’t do it unless it’s in the settings.

    If I wasn't stuck in a lease I would get an iphone 15 pro or pro max. But I am leasing my phone from my carrier so I can't upgrade anytime soon. I can't afford to buy the phones outright

    Iphone is too far behing comparing to Samsung, no sidebar shortcut? No multitasking? No fingerprint sensor?

    No back button. No numbers row. No pip for almost everything including maps. Almost everything is an extra step on iOS. Foolish punctuation location on keyboard. Swiping different direction in different apps does different things. All my issues with iOS are every day issues. Almost all these benefits are one time fixes on Android. Actually using an iphone is shockingly bad compared to Android. No notification bar. The list is stupidltv long. Swipe is unreliable. Swipe texting is abysmal. Hadn't even figured out the music at the gym thing yet but thanks! That's the every day use stuff that makes it terrible. And if you are forced to use an app that only works on iphone, that's a company problem, not an Android problem. No "close all apps" option, gotta swipe away every single one.

    Thats why you dont use many android devices. You have to pick company like samsung or google to use it smoothly.

    I couldn't use a phone, an iphone, that couldn't tell me via Siri how to turn it off. I asked it how since the power button no longer was a power button, but It literally did a web search response on how to turn off an android phone.
    $20 if you asked your iphone the same question, it would do the same response. I did this query 3 years ago.

    Just can't do that. The closed ecosystem, the more expensive apps, which are often the same on both, incompatibility with things that aren't Apple, I can go on and on.
    As someone that worked for a telecommunications company for two decades, it was always Apple that caused every issue; we eventually switched our devices over to Samsung and didn't have any of the issues internally, but still had the issues with the customers 😒
    In fact we had a campus that had several laptops that wouldn't connect to the campus wifi.
    "Let me guess" I said, "do they use Apple devices"?
    She had a shocked face, "how did you know?".
    So, coming from someone that worked in tech for most of my career, you can keep Apple 😉

    Well, I just can’t choose 😅. I enjoy the S-pen, MagSafe, Apple Pay, Apple Watch, but the batterylife of the Samsung Watch, and the reversed wireless charging. If Apple would add reversed wireless charging, an Apple Pencil that fits in the pro max, and the battery options Samsung has (enable or disable fast (wireless) charging and giving charging information I would be sticking with Apple. Samsung is just still a little bit better now. Except for the wireless pay system, that just works brilliant compared to Samsung.
