The same technique I learned when washing cars at the Esso Station in North Carolina over 50 years ago. And it works even better today with micro fiber towels. Love how Josh takes pride in everything he does.
My dad taught me this 30 years ago when I started to detail cars. His windows looked like they were always rolled down, and the inside of the windows never had a fog or haze on them, that's how clean and streak free they were. I didn't believe him until he showed me, been doing it ever since.
I tried this yesterday and it worked really well. Also while I had the wet and dry Rag I used this method on the dash and door panels and it also worked very well and didn't leave the dull residue that APC leaves behind.
Massively helpful video. I have tried a multitude of online tricks to clean the inside front and rear glass on my car. The rear is steeply raked making access difficult. I have never loved the idea of spraying tons of cleaner on the window only to have it drip onto the back ledge and I can never seem to get rid of the smudges. I've tried all manner of glass cleaners and even a variety of squeegees. The results always seem fine until you drive into the sun the next day. Then I came across this video. Water only. Wipe on, wipe off (RIP Mr. Miyagi...). Tried it tonight and my glass is spotless. Other than needing to be a yoga master to reach all of the edges, the technique is the best I've found. Sometimes, a simple solution is the best solution. Thx
In the 34 years of driving my 88 Camaro, I have always dreaded the contortionism required to get the windshield clean on the inside. It is the most uncomfortable process.
There's a handle with a triangular "foot" on it, that is hinged. On it, you attach a microfiber bonnet (omes with one bonnet, but extras can be bought), then you can spritz it with water and, in essence do what Josh does, but you do it seated in the front seats. I can't contort into a position myself, like Josh does, so this tool comes in very handy.
Best hack ever! Had a client today with bad water spots on the glass - after chemicals and polishing I used your water and towel hack- worked amazingly!!!! Thanks for the info!! Wish I knew how to add a photo of the results!
Great video. I use a microfiber folded wrapped around a squeegy for the inside no fatigue on shoulder or no having to get the drivers side from the passenger side. Easy and quick. Full contact without contorting your body in any way

Dawn soap/water and 0000 steel wool. If any hard water stains left, use vinegar and water. Finish up with regular window cleaner. Always switching up microfiber towels of course.
Every microfiber towel I try leaves lint behind when window cleaning. Even the highest rated lint free towels on Amazon. I will buy and try the towels from your site, and hope for the best.

I found out with experimenting on a stubborn gunk dirty tv screen that would not clean up no matter what I tried until a two part system worked magic. Vinegar, quickly followed by ipa alcohol. Either on their own did not get the gunk to raise up. Combined beat blue window cleaner and meth spirits.

So is this still effective for the interior when it gets all the evaporated oils from the dashboard onto it? On my daily driver this is a constant problem from being outside so I bought the autofiber reacher with the flip towels because I got tired of wiping down the interior. I plan to use the same method you do, but with glass cleaner and the other side of the flip towel. It's hard for me to imagine the oils being wiped away effectively by just water. For the exterior, I'm thinking you usually do this after a car wash and so the windshield is already clean enough. If you just wanted to clean the window from pollen, bird bombs, bugs, etc without having to do the whole car, would you still use this method or would you use glass cleaner or maybe a rinseless wash? Any suggestions on disposable cloths to dry with? I ask because I have seen directions to NOT wash cloths with detergent. They say there can be detergent residue left in the cloths which will smear your windows the next time you clean.
Thanks for the great video. All the techniques are great and I use most of them. However my issue with the interior of the glass is little fuzz residue, regardless off the microfiber towels I use and I've tried many many types and brands. Also I tried using many cleaners, Stoner, Windex, Chem Guys, water with dawn, magic erasers, etc. Any tips to rid of those annoying fuzzies.
So, I've found that if I spray my washing cloth with some isopropyl alcohol first and then wet the cloth that the window cleaning is less work. And because of the alcohol presence my drying time is less and buffs out better.
A few other videos use a synthetic chamois & water works great! If your windows are that grimy then you need to use a clay bar or a magic eraser to get that off first. My windows are crystal clear clean, but I clean them every day….maintenance people is KEY!
I've tried every imaginable product over the years and they all leave streaks. Or they fog up on the first cool day. Its basically the same as Josh but my screen seams to get more off gasing from the dashboard because my car is always in full sun. So do the same routine on a regular basis and save $$$ on screen cleaners. - Thanks
When you used micro fiber towel to clean windscreen. It was just clean straight water? Or did you add any cleaning fluid? Would you suggest using a clay bar to get off the real deep dirt out first. Then clean with just water.
why are u against using products for the glass? does it have something to do with saving the rags? after watching this vid I want to try it but iv been using invisible glass cleaner and love it, but im intrigued by ur method of cleaning the glass
Will this method be enough for exterior windshield that shows the wiper path? Some contamination or build up. Even rainbow effect (while looking at it from the outside of vehicle) as the wipers glide along the glass.

If there is some rainbowing then you may need some chemical to remove that
@@imjoshv what would be a product that you could recommend? Thanks in advance.
Nice thanks . I have a 2017 Cadillac XTS and my back windshield is hard to reach. What do you recommend? Much love from Philly!
Hey, my old taurus and now a 2004 Ranger both have foggy side windows where they have been rolled up and down. This dude grabbed something from his shop and cleaned all of it off the taurus, but he didnt tell me what it was! I think it was some buffering compound. He just wiped it on, rubbed it around, wiped it off and it was clear again! any ideas how he did it? TY!
What about window tracks, the weather sealing around window?
Excellent video good sir. You know pro window cleaners that do homes and offices use just water with the tiniest drop of dishwashing liquid. Just goes to show how the auto industry over promotes products just for profit.
Do you have or can you do a video on wheel cleaning?
Dishwashing always leaves streaks.
What about hard water stains on the glass? This method doesn't remove those i'm sure? Also, do you have a tutorial on how to clean window tint?
Lol yeah I tried this but it doesn’t work in the south with the large bugs we have lol but maybe in other climates .
AWESOME! THANKS!
The towel trainer. Hmmm impressive.
Is distilled water better? And will this work on “smokers” windows?!?!
What would you recommend for anti fogging??
