    This wasn't Woodstock; the footage was taken from a concert in Australia, however the audio was taken from a concert in California and synced up to this video. How was he able to play guitar like that? Because he's Jimmy f*cking Page - that's why! 😁

      Thanks for the info. I knew it wasn’t Woodstock ‘cause this was 1972 and Woodstock was August of 1969. The Who were at Woodstock, but Zep wasn’t.

      @vernhoke7730 Год назад +2

      Yes, Zeppelin didn't play Woodstock. Their manager turned down the invitation as the band was doing a lot of festival type gigs and he didn't want them labeled that way.
      Instead they played a little concert venue in Asbury Park, NJ called Convention Hall.
      It's a shame I was only 10 years old at the time since that's about 15 minutes from where I live and years later I'd see some great shows there.

  • @rodentcafeteria
    @rodentcafeteria Год назад +21

    You ask how Page can play so many notes without messing up? It's because the bass playing and drummer are holding it all down. They are in lock-step with each other, which gives Page the freedom to take off.

    In the 1960s and 70s every rock band worth it'salt had an absolutely first class lead guitarist.
    Led Zeppelin had Jimmy Page, Deep Purple had Ritchie Blackmore, The Who had Pete Townsend, UFO had Michael Schenker, Black Sabbath had Tony Iommi, Uriah Heep had Mick Box, The Beatles had George Harrison, The Shadows had Hank Marvin, Queen had Brian May, The Faces had Ronnie Wood, The Rolling Stones had Keith Richards (and Ronnie Wood later on!), The Spiders From Mars had Mick Ronson, Pink Floyd had David Gilmour, etc, etc.
    These weren't people who could just play a bit, or do a job. They (along with the other band members) were premier League in terms of their ability and musicianship.

    Jimmy Page owns about 8 of the top 10 live guitar solos ever! This one would be in his top 20. The greatest guitar solo ever recorded is the 28 minute version of Dazed and Confused from MSG 1973. Number 2 is probably In My Time of Dying from Earl's Court from 1975.

    Jimmy page and John Paul Jones were both session musicians. Jimmy Page started at I believe 19 years old. He was on almost every pop record that came out of England in the early 60's till he joined the Yardbirds. He also played on various artists albums without recognition. Robert Plant and John Bonham were in awe of Jimmy Page bc he was an adult professional musician, had his own place, and could read music a little.
